Icy Descent, I Can’t Stop!

On this winter ride, I cycled from Exeter to Bovey Tracey, to ride the beautiful woodland wray valley cycle trail to Moretonhampstead. On the homeward bound journey, I climb 3 big hills using turbo mode and things got very interesting on a icy descent. My observations are the subject of this ride. W [Applause] [Applause] hi guys welcome back and thanks again for joining me on my ride today yeah so I’m off at holding at the moment and I’m going to be making my way down into buy and today I’m going up the ray Valley I’m looking forward to that so as usual

Guys let’s go and see if we see anything interesting on today’s ride I’m taking a left deer down towards chudley Look it’s an absolutely beautiful beautiful morning today it’s cold but look at that Sky look guys um it’s not de at the moment well it is here it was minus one when I left home this morning uh so we’re warming up a little bit that trail there is

Closed I just seen quite a few Trails the red and the Blue’s closed to be honest obviously CU of the tree felling down there so let’s crack On right ready for a little bit of downhill now I’ve got to take it a little bit easy cuz uh there’s still quite a bit of ice around yeah so I’m uh I’m heading down into chudley now and um I’ll be making my way to buy Tracy and then riding up the ray

Valley I watch this ice here look guys oh no breaking oh off the brakes [Applause] yeah a chili one this morning yeah always a chili one I have dressed appropriately for the occasion I am nice and toasty D in chly at the Moment yeah a little old Lady [Applause] Yeah so I’ve just left uh chudley now and I’m on my way to BBY Tracy oh think we got traffic lights down [Applause] Here R r again always seems to um rebain off the temporary traffic lights and with the two Radars bouncing off each other seems to knock mine out right I’m in buy now I could take the trail here but I’m going to take it a little bit further up Apparently I can get onto the trail up this way I’ll have a quick look I’ll probably be coming back saying it’s a dead end you go up here take a ride into the park apparently it joins the trail uh the ray Valley Trail just in

Here there’s a cafe in here I don’t know why I’ve never been in here I really don’t know Why now looking at the map it sort of splits and I got to take the road on the right side this one down here over the cattle Grid let’s see what this sign says deliveries disabled parking better ask this dog walker if we can get this way Hello excuse me can I get to the ray Valley this way yeah you can I can can I yeah I’ve not been this way before so I’m just uh um you if you go see this gate here yeah there’s a farm yard opposite and you can keep going um

There’s a path along there and follow that up or you could go right here actually if you go right then over the bridge and there sign posted there as well is it really yeah yeah whichever way you want to go oh thank you very much I suppose turn right it would be

The easier on a bike light yeah all right well many thanks enjoy your walk come so through the gate and uh hang to the right yeah I wonder where this joins on the ray Valley morning Morning over the little Bridge that’s the river side path we’re going up the Hill oh there you go guys I’m on the ray Valley oh that was very interesting and very nice thank You thank you yes so I’m in E mode and I have been since I left home which is 18 mil back yeah 81% of the battery that’s that’s not bad is it plenty of hills on the way home mind so uh think I’ll be having terrible let me thank you very much cheers

Bye-bye that ice yeah watchy ice just absolutely beautiful cottages aren’t they We join the trail again now off the highway yeah so today’s ride should be about between 40 and 45 miles I Reckon I was going to ride through there I’m glad I didn’t now it’s a right old Mess [Applause] so guys I am just shy of 23 miles in I don’t know if you can see that just over 2,000 ft of climbing I got 74% of the battery left that’s not bad is it oh my homew journey I I should stick it in Turbo

Now all the way home how nice is that so we’re at the uh at the rifle range down there just had a drink in my um my water bottle CU like a slush puppy give me freaking brain freeze it dude taking a right in a minute guys

That’s why I didn’t follow the trail all the way to Morton Hamstead so I wanted to shoot up this way I will now be sticking it up into Turble here we are Guys been terrible I got three big hills from Morton Hamad or to Maya on the way home that’s the first big one out the way in turble that’s why I like to uh just ride out in eco mode and save the juice for on the way home so the hom word

Journey you can treat yourself to Turbo especially we live in Devon all these Hills try and stay in the dry stuff oh a lot of ice in Still got lights up the bottom down Here going to be slippery down here cuz the water literally crosses the road yeah just as I fought ice and here’s a wonderful traffic lights which have become a permanent feature now at least was traffic lights are working again now back there remember a few videos back stuck on red oh he’s

Letting me through hey Bud I was looking at the stop go um sign didn’t realize M there was waving me on I’m coming up to the second Hill on the way home now this is a little 20% there so let’s get this baby out the way still in turble by the way Guys 60% of the battery left that’s the second Hill out the way one more big one to Go my God look at the black ice outside guys w I’m staying in the dry strip no it’s run out on me oh no this is just an icy road now oh my God look at it down there try and stay to this side that is proper ice out I’m just going to use f the back brake really yeah this is proper propery

Nicey I got one foot unclipped on the pedals they can’t make it up good luck with that one yeah definitely need to see a bit of salt that road does that’s it just fevered the back brake a little bit and just kept rolling I was okay so

This is the final Hill final big hill still in Turbo and I’ve got 50% of the battery left it’s not bad is it guys that’s the last of the big heels out of the way and I’ve got 42% of the battery left now really nice when you’re out in the Sun that Subway is proper flooded it won’t be going that way well I’m going to have to take the road no way I can uh go down through that Subway that was Crazy all Clear he Guys right that’s it for me for today’s ride guys I hope you enjoyed that but as usual make sure you guys get out there and ride and I’ll see you on the next one bye for now bye-bye bye
