Bikepacking England’s south coast to Wales Day 5: Isle of Wight to the New Forest

Hi and welcome to WannaGoBiking. My name is Arjan and it is time for a new Bikepacking Adventure! In June ’23 Peter-Jan and I started cycling from Folkestone towards Wales. It was a fun and beautiful ride along the south coast, Isle of Wight , New Forest, Bath and Bristol. My subsequent plan was to cycle in Wales for another week or so, but that’s from episode 9 onwards.
In this fifth episode we take the ferry back to the mainland and cycle through the beautiful New Forest. A very good chance to meet up with my friend Jens again.

Hello and good morning to WannaGoBiking  we’re still on the Isle of Wight but about to leave it unfortunately we’re going to Yarmouth Harbor and then take the ferry hopefully to Lymington, not quite sure and then head  up to the New Forest to- eventually at the end of the day-

Meet up with my friend Jens so that should be fun so yeah I see some clouds so I’m quite keen on finding out what the weather’s going to be so Peter-Jan any ideas any suggestions? no suggestions, no weather today! no weather, okay  well that’s it today no weather see you later

Yarmouth Pier, nice just waiting to catch  our Ferry we had to wait an hour and a half but it was all right had a nice coffee  and breakfast and then it’s off to the Mainland again to Lymington and then yeah a nice trip hopefully into the New Forest

So that should be fun . it’s  again much more overcast than than advertised so that’s a bit of a pity but  well temperature still very nice that should be our ferry ah, wild horses right we’ve just left Lymington, was  on a very busy road so that was not good

But we’re out on a sidetrack towards Brockenhurst  so let’s see if we can get some lunch there Here in the field you see a specimen of the Homo GoPro Sapiens at work well it’s about 15K to my  friends’s place but since we’re

So early we’ll probably be taking a detour  and why not very beautiful up here wild horses, hello hey guys , do you mind? thank you right, it’s about time for a break we only  had two coffee breaks so far so it’s about time for a third

Well a snack break so uh yeah see  you after the break well we seem to be stuck, we thought we would be Crossing this road but this is a dual carriageway the A31 and we can’t cross it and we’re not going to ride in on on the shoulder of it either

So that’s another 20 25k, yeah most unfortunate but I did look on the map,  nothing we can do about it now so we just head back hello say hello to Arjan, been too  long how are you? good yeah
