Howdy friends welcome back to another video here um my name is Sam with tuck Fly Shop and as always I’m accompanied by our content genius behind the camera here Justin pilot we’re going to do just a little little uh Crystal Flash pheasant tail so the hook I’ve got in my vice here today

Is just a umca it’s a u series hook um u22 I’m a fan of these hooks because they’re affordable they come in 50 packs and the 202 is is Fairly reliable in my right bobin here as I start my thread This Thread is I

Believe uh Vivas A1 so this is a like a dark brown it’s a 16 Al I’m going to go ahead and and get that started for my ribbing which I’m going to go ahead and tie in is going to be just an extra small copper wire and I’m going to run

That down toward the bend um from here I’m gonna tie in my pheasant tail this particular feather here is I believe Orvis makes this one this is just a DED Ginger pheasant tail let’s see how many fibers I’m going to grab I’m going to grab three here to try to keep this thing

Skinny go ahead and tying that tail and then before I lock it in just kind of get it the length I want it because I’m going to Pal It Forward I’m going to take one wrap back over it as I pull it down the hook shank

Um as I always tend to do with my pheasant Tails I’m going to take just a little bit just a little thin coat of Zappa Gap here coat that and then I’m just going to Palmer this all the way back up to the uh to where I’m going to put the wing

Case all right pretty content with that so we’re going to lock that in pull that pheasant pull that Pheasant off and now counter wrapping the rib here back to where I broke off the phant tail helicopter that wire break it off have a good afternoon

Thank and then for our wing case and our legs I’ve got a hairline Midge Flash in pearl color let’s see I’ll grab I’m GNA count out six pieces here two four six so we’ll tie this in on top for my thorax here I’m G to grab sorry Justin wouldn’t

Prepared this is a hin Spectra dubbing this is uh 239 that peacock look um take us a little bit this 239 and dub it as tight as we can once I get that little thorax made we’re going to pull our flash over to create the wing case and

Then because I’ve got six strands here I want I want to just split them apart get three on each side for the legs secure both those back and go ahead and whip finish that thread out the way uh what I’m going to do before I trim our legs is just take my bkin

Here and this bottle is solar res thin hard formula so I’m going to grab a drop here and then use my Bodkin to apply I’m going to run a nice little drop off that on top of that Crystal Flash sorry don’t know what I’m saying taking my Lon Infinity Light

Making sure that thing secures and from here we’ll go ahead and get rid of that Crystal Flash for the legs and that right there is a little dirty one that’s a killer um thanks for watching me tie another fly if you like this kind of stuff um subscribe like our YouTube

  1. An orange seals fur thorax pheasant tail is never off my leader but I believe the Diawl Bach may have surpassed both pheasant tails and hare ears nymphs as the most successful nymph ever.

  2. Thanks for the video. Could you tell me how you would fish that fly? For example, would you use split shot and an indicator? If not, could you give a brief overview of how you would use this fly in a medium size freestone stream?
