Cycling England 11th January 2024 a bike ride to Arundel

Morning oh well what a cracking day I’m very cold but as I’ve probably said many a time before I’d take this over the rain any day I think we’re going to head to arendall today um don’t think we T thank you I’m not been there for a while so yeah so

We’ll head up there have a look at the castle and probably just come back home can’t really think of much else to do oh morning are you all right it’s beautiful isn’t it thank you oh it’s all a bit busy along here right I think I think I’ll turn you around

Although might not be able to see too much cuz of the Sun but let’s see what happens right plenty of stones up but not over it’s all right don’t worry he’s fine don’t worry about it I’ll get around him no he’ be fine thank you everybody seems to have a dash sound is

It what they’re called sausage dog these days I think they um became rather popular because of a certain advert I think I don’t know I must admit right which way we go down here again think I need to be a little bit uh careful I

Think some of the roads could still be a bit dodgy um especially ones that stayed in the shade all day uh yesterday right let’s get going to that there arle what an idiot we’ve just got to little hempton and I’ve just realized I’ve left my phone at home

Well well that was unfortunate the well the battery didn’t run out on um the camera the batteries maybe they’re getting a bit and worn out um they don’t seem to like the cold so it cut out um as you can see we’re back home um I

Found my phone TR again um where was I don’t know where I was Yeah well yeah the battery didn’t like the cold um it cut out again then so yeah um but I don’t think we’re going to bother going back out again uh today um that’s great this batter’s dead right

Third Time Lucky that battery’s dead um oh who knows where I am um yeah I’m I’m not going to go out again today um I can’t be bothered now um I got a few bits well I got loads of bits I should be doing but haven’t been bothering so

Yeah I think I’ll stay home today or certainly won’t go out of um town anyway Bogner um maybe we’ll go out again tomorrow we shall see right I shall speak to you all soon morning all well we’re trying to go to Arend once again um things didn’t get off uh to the best

Of starts again this morning uh uh we got oh a mile or two from home and then I realized I’d um left my wallet at home so so we had to turn around and get that so this will be my third attempt at getting to Arend but I’m sure we’ll get there in

The end it’s a lovely sunny day again uh very cold once again that’s good um I think there might be um a chance of uh snow again I think they said next week don’t know maybe we better make uh the most of this while we can come along rning roads yeah we’re not

Far uh from home now we’re just on the main road from uh hner to little little Hampton and then we’ll well I’m not too sure whether we’ll go uh through little Hampton or we’ll uh skir around the edges um we’ve been well these Factory really don’t like the cold it might well

No I think that one said it had 90 o% on it uh last night when I looked uh cuz uh the other batteries were flat so I charged them so well I made a note of the time I put this one in so we’ll see how that one goes it obviously doesn’t

Help uh with the camera being mounted uh where it is it’s well it it’s in the cold all the time but we’ll see how that one gets on and well maybe we’ll have to order some new batteries I just say I know the one that I’ve just put him was fully charged

Yesterday so as I say we’ll see right let’s turn you around while we’re on this noisy cycle [Applause] path well we have decided to come through little Hampton after all uh that road cuz I’d have had to come off the path and go on there road was so so

Busy traffic it seems to be constant these days I mean we will be going back on the main road shortly but I hope we have a little break and we’ve not been this way before but you haven’t anyway all right come long well we just come off the main road oh I

Don’t know whether you can see or not and I just thought we’d take um some pictures of herend Castle but which is sort of there um before we go into Arend but as I say I don’t think you can really see it so perhaps we won’t bother you might see the cast a

Little bit better as we go over on the railway line as I say we’ll go into Arend anyway so maybe we’ll have a closer look then it’s okay I got a great big lorry bearing down on me [Applause] there we go herand har but I like to call it

Arundle well we’re still in AR sort of thing so we coming up look at sworn Lake see all the beds I think the last time I came here I think the um the lake was empty I think they was um taking too much water out of the equa equa whatever

They are and well they drained this as well f you didn’t come here any earli I bet this is like a scaping ring once that old temperature drops I mean well well we sort of head back into um the center of arendal we’ll have a quick

Little bimble up the hill and maybe back down again I don’t mean this hell either one in hand there you go Arend I’m over to the right there used to be my favorite shop uh pedlers um camping and um Expedition advisors I think they were yeah to buy all my

Stuff from there but again like most of these shops they got to closed although to be honest they closed a long long time ago probably further longer longer ago than I careed to think right well I think I she turn you off for the moment and we’re only going up there to

Come back down anyway yeah let’s get to the top right well let’s just go back down the hill then and well not that you can really see but you got a lovely view out over AR and like the cross Bush up the top there which is

Where we came in at I didn’t film you most of that definitely about time of year too um come here very quiet normally it’s a very busy um little town with tourists as you can imagine do not I can’t remember the last time I was here now say that pedler on the

Left right let’s turn around again oh cbles all right I think that we’re just going to head home now oh oh no maybe not right take my hands life in my hands to get across this roundabout that’s okay that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be

But there’s not normally a lake there to the [Applause] left roads
