Welcome to the German B1 oral exam My name is Kristina Steiner, I am the examiner. Today you have the oral exam. The oral exam consists of three parts. Part 3: Planning something together / dialogue The situation: Sophie’s aunt wants to move soon and has asked you to help her move.

The task: Plan together what you can do. And here are some notes: Help with the move? When? How to transport the items? How to pack things? Who else can help with this? When you’re ready. Start with this Oh my God, I have to tell you what my neighbor did again.

What did she do then? Yesterday she poured water on my balcony again. Oh no! I think she always waters her flowers way too much. Yes, half of the irrigation water always ends up on my balcony furniture. Unbelievable, it’s really getting worse. I know. I’m slowly starting to can’t take it anymore.

Sometimes I also hear her screaming loudly. Poor thing, I don’t know how you stand it. That’s really unpleasant. Just report your behavior to the landlord. Yes, I’ll do that soon. Thomas, I want to discuss something with you. Do you still have time now? Yes, please. I still have time.

So, my aunt wants to move soon and asked me to help her move. I have already agreed, but I think we will need several helpers because my aunt has a hard time getting rid of things and therefore there are a lot of things lying around in her apartment.

And I wanted to ask you if you could support us with this? Yes, sure. That’s no problem at all, I’m happy to help you! Do you already have an idea how we will transport the items? We will definitely need a larger vehicle.

I thought about a van or a minibus that we could rent. What do you think? Yes, I think that’s good, it means we can also transport larger pieces of furniture and don’t have to drive as often.

But we have to be careful that the total mass of the rental van does not exceed a certain weight , even when the vehicle is loaded, otherwise we need a person who has a truck driving license. Or what do you say to that?

You don’t have to worry about that because I have a truck driver’s license. That’s a good thing! Excellent! And the next question would be, how can we pack things well for the move? Do you perhaps have an idea for that too?

Yes, I think we can buy some cardboard boxes and put all the smaller things in them. We can then label the cardboard boxes so that we can find the items we are looking for more quickly in the new apartment. Yes, that sounds good.

But have you thought about how we can protect fragile things during transportation? I always use bubble wrap and newspaper for this, which has worked great so far. What do you think? That sounds good. So, that’s how we do it.

And does your aunt want to take all the furniture with her to the new apartment? Unfortunately I don’t know for sure. I think we should ask my aunt. Some time ago she told me that she wanted to donate some furniture that she no longer needed to a poor family or a charity,

But I’m not sure if she wants to do that anymore. You can ask so that we can organize the whole event better. Yes I will do that. I will also ask other friends and my two cousins if they can help with the move.

That’s a good suggestion, if a few more people come along and help, we’ll definitely be faster. I think so too. As soon as I know anything new, I will call you and let you know. And if we know who else will be there, we can make an appointment for the transport together.

We probably won’t be able to do everything in one day, but let’s see. Exactly. I think we planned everything very well and I’m waiting for your call. Fine, I’ll call you. Until then, I wish you all the best and thank you for your help!

No thanks, I’m happy to help. Take care and see you soon.
