[734] Morning rush hour on Jaarbeursplein in Utrecht, close to the central railway station. Filmed from 7:55 to 8:15 am, just as it got light in January 2020. More information in the blog post: https://bicycledutch.wordpress.com/?p=17098
I don't see anyone wearing reflective vests as required by the EU and quite a few don't their lights on, another EU (and very old Dutch) law. Interesting.
Yeah it might work there cause its culturally ingrained but as someone from new york dealing with these new parking and street rules and how rude and entitled they are…..FUCK cyclists. Absolutely fuck you if you bike in NYC.
In America if you opened up lanes like this, you would have “youths” pulling wheelies, yelling, and weaving in and out of other bikes inside of five minutes.
Neither cyclists nor pedestrians seem to abide to traffic rules in this video. Pedestrians crossing where and when they see fit, cyclists not giving hand signals and often have no lights. The reason no one gets hit is because people assume that hitting each other means pain for both parties involved and should be avoided at all cost, so they adapt. Unlike people in cars, who only have to worry about dents and scratches in the paint and maybe a hike in insurance premium and will generally cause a lot of harm when a pedestrian or cyclist is hit. This is why a motorist is always at least 50% liable in Dutch traffic law, when a pedestrian or cyclist is involved. (I own two cars and cycle to work btw)
Wheres the road rage? The angry horns? The Aggressive swearing and hand gestures and the old people standing for ages waiting to cross the road? None… The Netherlands puts my country, the UK to shame in this regard… Looks relaxing and peaceful…
What is the story with those gearless grandma style bikes? Here in central europe almost nobody buys gearless bikes! The most common bike being bought is a MTB.
Truly, a nightmare of a cyclist. Tons of pedestrians on a bicycle riding at low speeds. No true cyclist would want to ride in this swarm of commuters. Not a cyclist-friendly city definitely.

You will get better footage at de uithof
a good way to keep your ASS nice and muscly and your lungs full of air.
Maat. Wat is dit? De titel geeft het eigenlijk wel weg hoor maar waarom is meer de vraag en waarom zit het in mijn recommended feed?

Slightly higher blood pressure at 2:40 (!) But only slightly, no bells or complaints…
great
If you are wearing a helmet on a non racing bike in the NL people will think you are either handicapped, American or both.
That's only the Croeselaan. You should film at the Vredenburg.
This video somehow seems sarcastic
Thnx for showing that concrete truck, I wondered what that annoying background noise was 😀👍 Nice video

Unaware used hand signs

Very busy but silent peace full.
It never fails to amaze me how they move around one another. Imperfect, complex, but human! As it should be.
The whiter people are the more likely they are to complain about near misses or helmets. But I'm just fine with this – and I live in Canada 😀
Smooth
I've lived there before I moved to the U.S. twelve years ago. This made me instantly, intensely homesick.

The way the truth and the life.
Lol compared to amsterdam this is very calm

God I wish London was like this
Wish streets were like this in my country.
Should definitely do the intersection: Catherijnesingel / Vredenburg next, you know what place I'm talking about 🙂
I really fall in love with Holland and Dutch people
ik hoor een betonpomp en trilnaalden…
The Netherlands are truly beautiful. You make me jealous. How I wish I could live in that beautiful country.
All of them are better riders than I.
Zie wel een sukkel proberen in te halen terwijl hij een bocht maakt???

See what happens if a cycle bridge opens for 5 minutes during the morning cycling rush hour in Delft: https://youtu.be/jVdZvkNOJR8
Sweet country peaceful country great from philippines🇵🇭
Now imagine this with cars…
What do I do if I want to live in Netherlands?
It's not only bicycles', the Netherlands infrastructure is top notch, better than bigger countries like Germany, France and UK.
the dutch system is all fine when it comes to my travel Netherland from Tokyo, it is so organized, understand it all
Now isn't that great!
Better watching this than going to a psychiatrist, and cheaper
Wow… What a blessed country. Wish my country India someday like this.
what a sad place to live in…
The calmest rush hour anyone will see.
wish the whole world rode bicycles
4:16 Iron man!
Oh, this is so heavenly to watch. But even better: Listen! It's soooooo quiet!
What in the world do parents with children do? These are all single adults.
