Didn’t really fancy said now go there he stop it blah blah blah I think it was the um it wasn’t Nana Hotel um I can’t remember the name of the hotel but it was close to it and so when we went there and it was like Jesus Christ you

Know it’s like even in the daytime the corner board is said the stumble in that that was all there and everything I you we sat there just watching all the all the people coming and going in the chaos of it I for you straight away I thought I love

This place this is brilliant and then you were coming and going then you were flying back to the UK then coming over to Thailand for holidays is that how you did it so once basically we got the time bug we’re earning pretty good money then like britle and uh we’re coming and going

Soon as you earned enough money we’re back on the the plane so the first time so we booked a week In Paya a week in Camu and a week in Dubai on the way back got there got to patoa once we got once I got over us lazy it was and how mental

It was and that’s such a good crack we were F him we went to uh CI as beautiful is down there after a couple of days we went let’s go back to potato says come on let’s s it so we we changed everything and then instead of going to

Dubai for the week we canceled all that just stayed in potato up and down everywhere there and just fell in love with all the madness of it there I I mean i’ never fell for a girl then I was determined not to fall for a girl always

From the off I was I was probably a good maybe uh yeah it was probably two years before I had a girlfriend I was the last that was the last Tang on not to to do it but didn’t get you in the end on me well let’s talk about you being a

Private detective how’ that come about you must have had a a longer period than living in Pati at that stage if you were going to open it like try and make some money so obviously eventually we’ll get to the I got to the smuggling drugs to

Stay there I didn’t want to carry on doing that because the inevitable what happened and did so I thought right and I didn’t really want to be a teacher or it was might be too hard to do it started to get a little bit harder by around about

2004 yeah it was 2004 maybe maybe a little bit later anyway I broke up with a girlfriend at this point and I was single again and I’ve was seing this lovely young lady and she was really on the ball you know like what the light she

Mouse in generally they’re the mouse or the cat yeah the cat they are from the book there was a 70y old Bob with a 27-year-old wife who he thought was was Filipino but she was actually Tai right so once I got the idea a friend of mine

Still lives in In Paya now he was good on the internet the internet the world is coming through now in it I think I paid like 200 for a a website got all the cards all the stickers got a new phone new phone number and everything set it all up I went around

Plastering Po and I had my phone number every were joking saying he thinks he’s Magnum PI so I got the theme tuned to Magnum PI so I’ve got the phone we sat there in our little bar a little area restaurant Cafe type thing next minute the phone’s going

Off I’m saying right he’s ringing up who’s taking the piss no no no I said this man my first job so I grabbed all but walked over to quiet the quiet side hello uh potato bar girls Pi anyway he says uh yeah I’ve got a problem with uh blah blah blah can I

Meet you and we arrang a meeting so I went I went and met him and uh he was a a Yorkshire fellow actually over the way he said his Filipino wife of maybe two year she’s just been over here one year but she speaks fluent

Tha and he thinks she’s at it with a copper I went whoa I said m i I’m not getting involved with any place or anything like that say all I’m doing is really I’m catching bar girls out it’s very simple the flang comes all falls in

Love he goes back home he’s paying the money not to do the job she stays here bullshits him I’m just check or she’s genuine she has gone on but I’m G to check it out it’s very simple I’m not I’ll be honest with you I’m not like a

Real private investigator say say would you be able to uh bug my house and record it because I’m pretty sure she’s I says listen I told you I don’t want nothing to do with placeman he said I’ll pay you like I think 10,000 bucks right

I’m in that was me sold for off like like a good whack of money cuz I was getting I was getting a bit skinn then so I thought right I went to the tocom I bought this is when all the device you know the topcom tell you they sells they

Sell everything don’t they I bought this little mic and a microphone he so he what he did he got the mic he put it in the kitchen while he was out at work he put it on record we didn’t have the camera and I said I’ll be able to

Translate whatever now I’m not I’m not fluent any tire and I wasn’t them I’m a half decent but I’m a girlfriend so we listened to like uh three hours at a time and I was charging a thousand b as well an hour so like not a bad job but

Anyway that the main thing is he’s saying is his Filipino wife he met her in the Philippines 100% I’m thinking Jesus Christ she speaks time really God and I could hear the isan and uh like my girlfriend says not she she’s from body Ram where I’m from She’s

She has like k type of very Ean but buam I went I said she’s not she’s from the Philippines played it to other people down down the bar listen to this where do you think she’s from they’re all saying oh B may be correct but 100% I said she’s Filipino spoke TI impossible

Impossible so I never got to find out fully whether she what I think she was TI moved because she was she was super hot but a real smart cookie busy woman type thing she’s gone to the Philippines started a bit of a BL there she’s met

The older rich guy and set up maybe a false family to Black him and she’s got him it’s the only way it makes any any sense if that makes sense you know how can she learn Tai to that level in one year anyway in the end after all this translated everything

Which was was fine he said he says Steve says you don’t need to translate this this next one says I’ve got them at it on film I so well give him you let me have a listen let me just check any so that was me first case done

I paid like said pretty well and what was the elcome then did he did he leave so I said to him at the beginning I say right listen so I know that a few place we have a little place in the back buckets here but nothing G say I know

The chiefer place is a friend of mine because he’s quite ey even though he’s naive to all he was he was quite high up in the business world so I say right first thing I go to your mate who’s the chief of police I said don’t confront

Him go and see the chief of police tell him what the crack is tell him to have a word with him so they did do that was all done she said Sally and uh forgive and forget I’m sure she never I’m sure they still together now to this day

Laughing about the whole story when they got the private investigator in another one that you did I thought it was quite sad the soldier uh that lost his memory and his War medal this is the opposite of a money making thing I didn’t make any money off this but as it well so

What happened uh I I think I called him John in the book I honestly can’t remember his name but let’s just call him John he called me up yeah and we met in the Irish B that Beyond near so6 just out the back a little bit where we lived

And I come and met this guy and he said right says it’s a bit confusing this and he says bear with me because said I’ve had an injury he showed me back of his head he’s like half his heads like took off like Jesus Christ Okay so said um is

What it is it was in I’m not sure if it was uh Afghanistan or Iraq whatever but it was some special forces or some kind of elite regiment they were in um a wagon type thing they’re going on this secret mission they said there were 12 of them

As I remember 12 they’re all in the back and he wants to have a word with the driver so he swapped seats with the uh the guy next to the driver next minute they’ve got bazooker a lot of them dead except for the two in the front and he

Got blasted it was in a coma for uh go God knows how long so he’s been in his coma I think he was in hospital for a year or so as he’s you know he’s telling me he can’t remember anything his brothers looks after him he’s come back to

Thailand he’s he’s getting his uh Bings back and everything he’s end up randomly in a bar on uh soy 13 and one you know there’s there’s some music bars of the top I don’t know if you know that area but uh soy 13 there’s a few music bars

There he said he’s gone in there and all the girls in the bar they all G on twim all John John I remember what happened what happen when they said I don’t I don’t even know you are and they’re all a bit weird with him and they’ve end up

Um say say to him know what your you have problem said I don’t have a problem and then some clicked in his brain or they mentioned a girl’s name his memory starts coming back he thought he’s he was married to a girl in that bar and such a body so he knew such

A body knew such a body it’s all coming back to him he says yeah where’s let’s just say leg leg says yeah Le like was my wife and they’ve all gone oh we don’t know we don’t know it’s go oh what’s going on he had a he said he had that KN

A George’s cross one of these big crosses that you get for the award he showed them he says look I’ve had an accident I’ve my brains blown out I don’t remember everything I’m very confused but I know my wife has worked here I want to know how she is so he’s

Got me in I just want to know I presume she’s moved on and everything but I want to know if she’s all right and everything because and plus it’ll suit me brain out for getting things back to where do you know I me so when he got injured he forgot he was married

Everything he just knew they’ been to Thailand at some point he want to go back there no rec no recollection of anything he only the girls in the bar that brought it all back so he’s it was really confused and a bit jangled said he was on lots of meds and everything I

Say he was a lovely guy you can tell he wasn’t bullshitting so and he said this he said the Maman is whatever she was called he said when there was a girl I met I remember she was really good at pool and the name was such a

Thing right I says I says right what I’ll do I’ll going in there and have a word I’ll explain it he said to be honest he say when I I threw the medal uh and they he says they just thought I was a mental case in the end it say it

Say I can be a bit too aggressive when I had a few beers because I’m confused so no worries M I start going and see what I can do so and my oie Dave he said SM I know that bar he says uh I said would you want to come with us

We’ll uh we’ll have a little uh few beers and find out what crack is he yeah yeah so me and went me and him went there had a few beers the M sounds there exactly what she said he said end up playing with a game gam of pool with a

Girl described exactly how we really good at pool none them knew him knew anything about it I think what’s going on here maybe he’s he real has lost maybe he’s made it all in his own head or something because nobody had a clue what was going on I end up ringing up

And says right do you want to come down to the bar because because I’m a bit confused because nobody knows anything about that the other night she yeah okay then I’ll come down half an hour later he’s I think where is he half an hour later

He’s ringing up she where you I’m here at the bar it’s not there’s not even that big bar says you sure I says because I’m here at the bar he said yeah so 13 of what is it called Wonderland anyway whatever it was I says I said I don’t think you’re here mate

Said I am here said well let me just check you something I said this is Wonderland the woman said no this is wonderland too Wonderland is around the corner like oh my God we’re at the wrong fraking bar we’re staking out the wrong bar me me bloody idiot mate he thinks he

Knows the bar he’s we’re in the wrong bar we going around the corner see in so sorry about that there’s been a bit of a mixup but uh anyway we’ll start again without him knowing we absolutely ballsed it up found out at the end explained everything she basically because he’s

Disappeared end up getting a German husband having a cup of CH just moved on once he found that out he says I’m fine he says that’s all I want to to to know but obviously the way the mixup was and anyway that was it and and I got it

I said let me get you that uh trophy back I got him the trophy back and he said thanks and that was it and I didn’t charge him anything because it was only it was only like an hour on the piss in the wrong bar how long were you doing that for I

Think I did five jobs before because it’s all the money I that I had from the last drug run was running out that’s why I thought R put the money into this so I start I put the money into that I did that and when I was getting

I it it was coming through one and out the other basically we’re going to get into all that but before that we talk about you in Thailand first in the book you were in a relationship with a lady called Wana you said in the book that the ladies in the bar said your

Relationship was like Fire and Ice that’s right yeah you have big arguments yeah yeah she was fasty as they are she was from buam yeah they’re fasty other body around um but she she was very she was very different very not the normal not the normal type bar girl if

You know what I mean she was a bar girl same she was a freelancer but uh yeah it was again she was she was sweet as anything lovely very surprisingly very trusting for a TI um but when she got on the B oh my she was nuts jealous TI jealous I’m very

Not jealous and you said do her head in she trying and warm me up cuz I know she’s joking she oh you don’t love me if you’re not jealous I said it doesn’t work like that so some people are jealous and your culture is is is to

Show that you love them because you’re jealous that’s why I wouldn’t be jealous if I didn’t love you it’s all very silly and very annoying at one point she slashed her hand yeah this was like at the end of it again it this wasn’t this was no drink involved right we sat at

Home an apartment near to the Irish bar and um arguments over nothing she you know what I bought these knives and I bought the steak knife and remember thinking Jesus Christ this m not be good idea that that being in the house and she

Grabbed all of it went for me I was out the door like like lying and uh as I was closing the door I heard a go I just thought and I was off down the stairs I thought W that was a weird sound that and she wasn’t shouting you where are

You blah blah blah so I just hung on knew she’s not coming after me and I went back to the door the doors open a little bit and just open the door and oh my she’s head down she grabbed all of the state knife do you know people do it for

Attention she’s grabbed all way sh yank her hand was nearly off L and the blood was just going round a l thatway so I grabbed all of a a water Doh with a big thick elastic band put that on her put a towel on her straight when I’m screaming on an apartment help

Help I’ve got her on the bike I’ve took her down to S by the hospital uh straight away so I’ve got her in there she’s like all I don’t she’s not unconscious but she’s just you know she’s kind of hanging on we’re not even she’s not even saying

Anything at this point she knows she’s in a lot of trouble really she probably realizes oh what the hell of a d okay to the hospital they stemmed it and this I think they were act like uh I can’t remember how much she was a hell of a

Lot of money he is right there’s going to be a big operation this it’s Bo we can get you to banglong hospital and it’ be free right get us the long as she said she yeah she say we stopped it so they she end up in bangl 9 hour

Operation on her around fixing all the things and in banglong hospital for um for a week they were trying to get typical they were trying to get money up me there because she know she’s in there for trying to commit suicide and then because they know they got a flang

Boyfriend they’re trying to get money because they they do have like a a national not Ser um get a National Health Care System National healthare system people don’t but they do don’t they yeah they get free healthare but in government hospital I think they have to

Pay a really minimum like 30 back a month something like that yeah yes but it’s very small so she was in a private hospital then was she no in banglong uh a Thai Hospital okay and there was a nice girl across where she’s in you know little Wards of maybe 10 people there

Was a girl across cross from her you know I was going and see her every day at first I say okay yeah yeah she’s nice uh one of them she says say she’s Cambodian she shouldn’t be in here when all right I S I’ve talk to her keep yeah

Right then she was really ill not sure was wrong with her come one day gone they suu Cambodian and she was out kicked her out Jesus yeah she was sick yeah she was really sick you know like on the drip and I’m not sure if she had maybe

Uh maybe Deni is you know we talk about Deni possibly know that type of fever they weren’t too sure but yeah wasn’t tight on your bike and what happened with the relationship how did it end or did it end yeah it was uh it was an easy way to

End it I went to a Japanese prison for five years okay well that’s a good segue then we can get into that uh let’s do it it’s out coming up in part two St tells us about how he was sentenced to 7 years in a Japanese prison it was like hell was

Like walking into hell British Embassy the came te him on the first day they didn’t even know what I was how much I was carrying to sorry Stephen but you’re looking at four to 10 a year like what he
