What I don't understand is that a high proportion of the drivers caught using their phones have at least one other person in the vehicle which shows a complete disregard for the safety of the passengers, let alone any other road user. Maybe there should be a surcharge added to the fine or points if the driver is not alone, perhaps double the fine or add 3 points for each passenger in the vehicle?
You would have thought motorists would have got the message by now, most cars have hands free, it just seems to be a habit a costly one at that.

Yes Mikey, maybe he did know he was doing wrong, but it did not stop him from using his phone while driving. We as a country have to get this stupid phone use stopped. I saw somebody, after a funeral, hugging a relative while looking at his mobile in his hand behind her back. We see them in parliament using their phones ! I wonder how many have got points on their license or even banned just because they could not wait to reply a " LOL "

The passengers don't give a crap either. I'd jump out of the car immediately if the driver used the phone and I wouldn't care who it was.
