From the Arnhem, the Netherlands we travelled by regional trains in 2 days.
First day from Arnhem to Würzburg (Bavaria) on a Quer-Durchs-Landticket.
Second day from Würzburg to Salzburg (Bayern-ticket) and on to Werfen, Austria, from where we started out bicycle trip.

The regional German trains are cheap and convenient option to travel with bicycles. No booking in advance or reservations needed. From Arnhem (NL) to Werfen (A) it would normally cost us €64 per person incl. bicycle. However, we could not manage to buy a cheap German Quer-Durchs-landticket (€49) at the Arnhem ticket machine. Only option was to buy an extra (and unnecessary) oneway ticket Arnhem-Oberhausen (€15) and in Oberhausen a Quer-Durchs-landticket. Lesson learned: next time buy it online, straight from the DB app.
