A VISIT TO ‘CASTELNAUD-LA-CHAPELLE’- A ‘MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGE OF FRANCE’. DORDOGNE TRIP. ‘SEPT ’23.

It’s my birthday, the sun is shining and we are heading out on the bikes to the nearby village of Castelnaud-La-Chapelle.
Getting to the village is a trip in itself…through local corn fields, with lovely views of the countryside.

When we arrive in the village, it’s a fair old hike to get up to the top, but the views of the chateau and the surrounding valley make it worthwhile.

The houses of the village are in beautiful perigordine style with stone walls, large deeply-sloping roofs or terracotta tile and wooden shutters.

At the top of the village is the imposing Chateau de Castelnaud, a magnificent castle and also a very impressive museum of war.
The castle has full scale replicas of some of the war machines and trebuchets. Quite impressive on the battlements.

A lovely day out for my birthday! Well worth the effort!! Phew!!

[Applause] It’s a glorious day in the dooro and we are offing about on a little wrecky now that we’ve got to our new campsite and it’s also my birthday today 26th of September so we’re going to have a lovely day let’s go let’s have a look up

Here see if we can find a route to the uh to that big old shadow on the hill up there that’s where we’re headed today oh cycling through the gorgeous door doing Countryside on my birthday perfect oh big oh yeah where are we well we’re headed to

There so we’re going in the right direction yeah we are yeah sooner or later we’ll have to turn right and go up F that’s what it says here I think in 300 M make a u-turn think this just might be to somebody’s house now this is it bit muddy we got

It we are on the main road now birded not too busy I don’t think in 600 M turn right yeah guess so we are in the village of I don’t know Chapelle something and that is the chatau right on the top of the hill so we’re going to go and have a look

Chatau oh yeah there yeah that’s so pretty there goes birded up the hill that is a big hill thank goodness for electric bikes steep rout or the very steep rout let’s go around this rout you sure yeah that’s steeper than this let’s go around the Long Way Road bit wible

Wobble it’s a bit bouncy follow that burnard up the hill h this is boogy friendly I beg to differ the other one impossible yeah but it is very pretty go go Biro he’s pushing it’s a bit of a hill I’ll push it as well is

It it was that’s theit we didn’t take it oh hi yeah that is pretty steep down there up we go all these pretty little streets look this is very pretty indeed up we go that it’s pretty stunning down there look at that it’s a bit of a height to get up here

Though all right let’s go there’s the shatow let’s have a little walk up here and see what’s up here little tiny Street we are literally having a massive difficulty finding somewhere to park the bikes so this is literally just a foot wrecky cuz you can’t park your bikes

Anywhere there’s no there’s no bike parking which I find really unusual in France o a hill oo ah now look there you go that’s a nice shot of the Shadow right there looks very very popular but I don’t think we going in there today what’s up here let’s have a look beautiful

Walking just me on this bit bit early for burnard and it’s very very hot today oh let’s have a look oh little bit further oh more shots of the Chateau that’s quite stunning look at that look at that Sky okay let’s head back down to Bernie there’s lots of walks around here

There’s walking signs Randon signs everywhere you can go up there sure if you go up there there’s another magnificent view maybe not the shadow though cuz it seems to be leading away I’m sure it’s a lovely walk not for today though down the Cy path watch your feet it’s a bit

Steep stunning of the shut to that’s a pretty impressive roef line hey buddy the bells well it’s very pretty but it’s very very hilly and it’s not easy on the bikes but look at this look at that there are some beautiful little streets look at this one down

Here it’s not a bad view from your house is it now that is probably what you call a very very old village bread oven on the outside of somebody’s house it’s probably inside somebody’s house once upon a d what a lovely spot to spend my Birthday D
