Our OCCA Solar Powered Automatic /Robotic Outdoor Cattle Feeder is the perfect solution for farmers looking to optimise their time and feed resources.

Better Gut Health — This group of Angus and Wagyu steers and heifers are fed four times per day and are receiving 5-6kg/day over the course of 24 hours. Notice how clean their butts are. In comparison — taking a bucket out to them and giving them exactly the same amount in one feeding they would be far looser (their dung) meaning less efficiency in their digestion.

Less Days On Farm — With a more consistent plain of nutrition it is easier to meet the metabolic requirements of the animal. FINISHERS — Therefore weight gain can be tailored for fattening / finishing as in this group in the video. GROWERS — Used on younger cattle for a growing ration such as dairy or beef heifers. Often on grazing that may be away from the home farm.

Time — To feed this group by hand takes about 30-45 mins every day, (even Sundays) equating to a saving of a least 15 hours per month freeing up those precious daylight hours.

Methane — Albeit that the methane cycle has been in a closed loop for the past twenty plus years (in the UK) for beef and dairy production we are front and centre in the public eye in reducing our methane emissions. The OCCA feeder offers this solution. By feeding a small amount of methane inhibitor (herbs (garlic), oils, seaweed, synthetics to name a few) each day or each second day we can reduce our methane production.

Vermin — with no feed left in the trough there is little draw for vermin like Badgers to access the feeder. Whereas with ad-lib and limit feeders the feed (eg barley, wheat, oats, corn, beans, peas, soya) is easily accessed by wildlife and the spread of diseases such as TB is made that bit easier. As an optional-extra badger grates can be fitted to ensure badgers cannot reach into the hopper of the OCCA Feeder.

    Example How It Works

Hopper filled once every 10-14 days with approximately 2 ton capacity.
Calibrate feed discharged to the required amount.
