New bike day! My first Gravel bike Cervelo Aspero set up as all-road bike for ultra-endurance racing and bikepacking. While the Aspero was designed with gravel racing in mind, it’s proven to be a fantastic bike for all road and bikepacking, a quiver-killer!

After extensive testing during B-Hard Ultra race, I decided to make the final adjustments and tune-up

Bike Cervelo Aspero: bike build

– Shimano GRX RX815 DI2 11 speed

– 11-34 cassette and 48-31 chainring at the front which gives you a wide range of gears particularly useful for steep climbs when you are loaded with bags

– Shimano GRX RX815 Hydraulic Disc

– Tyre clearance for 44 millimetres for 700c or 51 mm for 650 b

– Cervelo trail mixer system

– Wheels: Reserve 32mm DT370

– Deda Jet aero bars

– Absolute Black stem cap

– Crankbrothers eggbeater 2

– Tune bottle cages

  1. Great looking bike! Glad you’re enjoying it! What size tires and model did you switch over to and how do you like them? Looks like Contintental Grand Prix 5000 S TR in 32mm?

  2. hi Sherry, looks great! just wonder how do you think about the aspero's performance as a road bike (in terms of ride quality, handling), is GRX gearing fast enough for road, and did you also consider cervelo caledonia back then? thanks!

  3. Lovely bike!
I would like to try out randonneuring too. Do most people use gravel bikes with bike packing bags? I have a touring bike with pannier racks, would that work as well?
