I’ve been testing the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro in the past few weeks and in this video I will share with you how well this watch performs as a sports watch on this channel I mainly focus on sports watches but occasionally I test smart watches as well and usually I always come to the

Same conclusion as an athlete I appreciate the extensive features offered by most SmartWatches especially in the area of fitness and health however some aspects such as navigation training analysis and especially the battery life are simply not on par with traditional Sports World es so this time

I tested the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro and in this video we will once again take a look at its Sports capabilities so let’s get started from how it looks I would say the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro takes some getting used to with dimensions of 47.6 * 45.9 mm it is significantly larger

Than other smart watches like the classic Apple watch Samsung Galaxy watch 6 or Google pixel watch it is also a thicker at 11.8 mm and at 54.5 G without the strap it is also not the lightest of watches either the design in general is somewhat bulky so for my wrist I find it

Acceptable but if you have smaller wrists you should definitely be aware of this on the other hand it also looks quite robust and high quality and the case is also made of stainless steel for example the display is of course an AMOLED display and at 1.43 in it is

Quite large as well the resolution is very good at 460 6 * 466 pixels but the maximum brightness is only 600 nits rarest the Galaxy watch offers up to 1,000 and the latest Apple watch goes up to 2,000 nits but honestly I don’t really see this significant difference

When I set the brightness to the highest level the display is even too bright for me I usually keep it on automatic making the display somewhat darker in comparison but it’s more than bright enough for me there is also an always on mode and you can set how many seconds it

Takes for the display to turn off or dim this of course affects the battery life which we’ll talk about shortly other than that there are three buttons on the right side of the case the top one takes you to the training mode the bottom one to the recently used apps and the middle

One takes you back to the home screen or from there to the app overview additionally it serves as a rotating Crown allowing you to navigate up and down or left and right in certain menu items however this does not work for example when moving sidewise through the

Widgets as it does with the Galaxy watch 6 using its rotating bezel I found that feature very practical and nice so it’s a shame that it’s not available here and speaking of moving through the widgets the watch uses a Snapdragon ship so everything on the watch runs pretty

Quickly and smoothly as is the case with many other SmartWatches as Well so now let’s talk about the battery life and in many cases this is one of the biggest drawbacks when it comes to using SmartWatches for sports and exercise purposes but like I said the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is pretty large and thick so it has space for a large

Battery in this case it has a capacity of 495 Mah hours there are two versions of the watch an LTE version allowing phone codes without a smartphone and a regular Bluetooth version which is the one I opted for xiaomi promises a battery life of up to 65 hours or nearly

3 days for the Bluetooth version which doesn’t sound bad for a smartwatch however unfortunately in my personal experience this claim didn’t really hold true I never even reached a full 48 hours or 2 days so I track many training sessions with the watch and use it extensively during my testing phase but

I had hoped for a bit more to be honest so same as for many other smartw watches the battery life remains one of the biggest drawbacks of the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro at least if like me you would like to use it for sports and Exercise next let’s move on to the main topic of this video the sports and training features first of all you should know that the watch runs on Google’s rare system which we know from the Samsung Galaxy watch among others as you’ve probably seen already we can navigate through the widgets sideways

Which might be familiar to you from other wews watches firstly there’s a widget with the day’s health statistics including calories steps and intensity minutes represented by Rings indicating the progress towards your daily goal with a click we can dive into this widget and view additional data such as

When we engag in these activities the watch also features a separate widget for heart rate where you can check your current puls today’s heart rate range and resting heart rate you can set alarms to notify you if your heart rate goes below or above certain thresholds in addition to heart rate there’s also

Widget for blood oxygen saturation or spo2 levels here too you can receive warnings from the watch if values are too low of course the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro also tracks your sleep on the watch you can see sleep times duration and the breakdown into the different sleep

Phases the watch can also measure your stress level provide a relaxation reminder if your stress level is too high during the day and offers guided breathing exercises it can also measure your skin temperature and like the Galaxy watch it includes a feature called bioelectrical impedance analysis this works like a body fat scale

Providing a quick test for your body composition including body fat percentage I’m not entirely convinced by the accuracy of this to be honest as it gives me somewhat inconsistent results but overall the variety of fitness and health features is impressive and even surpasses most traditional sports watches however compared to other

SmartWatches you cannot conduct an ECG with the watch and the statistic of heart rate variability is also missing now let’s dive into the watch’s training mode first of all it’s very nice that there is an incredibly large number of different sports modes to choose from over 150 if I counted correctly these

Include Classics such as running cycling and swimming of course but also some very unusual sports like wall ball belly dance tof War paragliding and even card and board games so if you’ve ever thought while playing Monopoly if I could only record this with my watch there you have it but joking aside The

Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro truly offers almost all sport profiles you could wish for I was very pleased to see an Open Water Swimming mode and a Trier mode especially within these modes you can set goals such as covering a specific distance or burning 500 calories for example you can directly create interval

Training sessions on the watch and set specific alarms reminding you if you’re over or under your Target Pace or within your heart rate range for example the watch also provides an autop pause feature regarding intervals there’s also an additional app on the watch with various suggested workouts such as

Interval runs specifically for burning fat or improving endurance during workouts the watch tracks classic data and statistics such as heart rate Pace Time steps and calories burned the watch also has a built-in barometer to track the altitude however unlike the newer Apple watches or especially traditional sports watches this watch lacks some

Advanced running metrics such as just a running power ground contact time or vertical movement after your workout especially in the app you can see a lot of data graphs and statistics for example run running you’ll find details about your completed route curves indicating heart rate heart rate zones

Stride length elevation and even the training effect so here you have a variety of options however in contrast to traditional sports watches two major things are missing the first one is navigation during training as mentioned this watch is equipped with Google’s rare s system so consequently you can

Use Google Maps here get navigated to specific destinations use a map and receive turn BYT instructions however you cannot load routes onto the watch and navigate based on them during training so no hiking routes or paths for your next Mountain Bike Tour furthermore while there are some useful

Features and statistics in the training mode itself this support ends outside of the training mode gin polar sun or coros provide Advanced widget for training analysis displaying your training loads and how they contribute your progress offering recovery recommendations training suggestions and much more you won’t find such features on the xiaomi

Watch 2 Pro same as on many other SmartWatches however most other SmartWatches at least provide your V2 Max but this is also lacking on the watch 2 Pro although the watch has the Google Play Store on board allowing you to load additional apps that enable some training analysis I haven’t found many

Good apps for this purpose so in terms of health and fitness the watch is really well equipped but in the realm of sports and exercise there are still many things missing that are quite important for me Personally next let’s talk about the accuracy of the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro firstly I tested the blood oxygen values of the watch against those of a pulse oxymeter several times each day I found an average deviation of 1% which is perfectly acceptable this measurement can be considered reliable however I was

Even more interested in how accurate the optical heart rate sensor of the watch is because here I I have already experienced pretty much everything from very accurate to pretty much completely unusable to test this I tracked all my training sessions with both the watch and a chest strap and then compared the

Data sets unfortunately I couldn’t find an option in the app to export heart rate data which is why I can’t demonstrate it as I usually do in my videos instead I can only present a side by-side comparison of the two screenshots according to the watch the average heart rate is 152 while the

Chest strap indicates 154 the maximum heart rate is reported as7 72 by the watch and 175 by the chest strip this is a good result but I have experienced more accurate watches before at first glance the curves of the two graphs look quite similar though however during strength training the results are not

Accurate at all the average heart rate according to the watch here is 77 which is 14 beats per minute below the chest strap reading the maximum heart rate is even off by 28 beats and things are even worse for this second strength training session so the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro seems

To be accurate for running however for strength strength training it is simply not usable based on my experiences regarding accuracy it was also important for me that during outdoor sports activities the watch has an accurate GPS because if the GPS is inaccurate other data such as distance or speed are also

Unreliable I had recently experienced extremely poor results with the Google pixel Watch 2 and the Fitbit charge 6 so how does the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro perform firstly you should know that the watch provides the so-called dual band frequency GPS which I was quite surprised to see for watch in this price

Range this means that multiple frequencies from multiple satellites can be accessed at the same time which leads to slightly better GPS accuracy at least in theory but how well does this translate to practice with the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro here in this running session things look quite good the route doesn’t

Pass through buildings and there were no signal interruptions at a few spots Corners were slightly cut but it’s all within acceptable limits in this session I was in the forest walking on narrow paths covering the same rout back and forth as we can see the accurately reflects this with the outbound and

Return paths aligning well based on my experiences unlike the aforementioned watches the GPS of the xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is accurate and Reliable all right so what can we conclude about the new xiaomi Watch 2 Pro first of all I want to say that in this video I didn’t talk about all of the features of the watch because undoubtedly this watch is a good Smartwatch and I’m pretty sure there

Were tons of reviews out there that have taken a look at the Smart features of the watch however the focus of this video was more on whether the watch also functions well as a sports watch and same as for almost all other SmartWatches out there I come to the

Same conclusion here the watch shines primarily with its multitude of fitness and health features such as spo2 measurement stress level measurement breathing exercises or bioelectrical impedance analysis however compared to other SmartWatches it LS things like ECG or heart rate variability but more importantly it lacks several things compared to traditional Sports watches

Navigation features during training tools for training analysis and especially battery life in my opinion the watch is no true alternative to a sports watch but it is for example an alternative to the Galaxy watch 6 as in the Bluetooth version it is also significantly cheaper than that but now

Feel free to drop a comment down below what you think of the new xiaomi Watch 2 Pro if you found this video helpful or interesting you could really support me and my work here by giving this video a quick thumbs up and if you don’t want to

    1. Hey, great video, really enjoying watching your videos so far! How long do you think this battery life can go on gps activity? For example 5 hour hike or something like a 4hour marathon. Thanks
