Sound or a few letters even become world-famous. Trade mark protection usually arises from having a trade mark entered in the register kept by the DPMA. The owner of a trade mark can be any legal entity or private person. Online filing is quick and easy. The price is also reasonable.
For 290 euros, the trade mark can be protected throughout Germany for ten years. And if you wish, your trade mark may have eternal life. The term of protection can be extended indefinitely. It if the trade marks are identical or likely to be confused. To communicate this more clearly in a business environment, registered trade marks can be marked with the “R in a circle” symbol ®. Yet another hint for trade mark registration: Trade marks must not describe what is offered.
