Winter Cruise on the BCN West Midlands Canals Pt1 #159

This weeks vlog I will be carrying on my winter cruise on the BCN, in some industrial and suburbs of outskirts of Wolverhampton.

Is hello and welcome back to another Florence Rose video today we”re going to be carrying on up the cut I’m heading towards my next nearest water point so it’s a beautiful day let’s see what it has to offer for Us so I was down at my last moing point for I’d say roughly just over a week and I won’t name the premises but there was a um a spot where the council were parking be wagons and things like that on an industrial site anyway they’ve been using that ever

Since I got there they had security Etc I went off doing whatever I was doing that day I can’t remember but I noticed two two Lads hanging around by the boat pretending to be fishing which is a big red flag for any narot because while you’re pretending to fish you’re having

To look around and things like that I’ve seen people do it plenty of times it’s just a black and a Scamp it’s a reason to be there so anyway I watched them on my cameras and I was about 10 minutes away they started coming onto the boat they did steal something

Um I won’t go into what they stole but I’m just giving you a brief overview anyway jumped in the car with my brother he was going to drop me down at the boat which I did I confronted the Two Fellas and uh then noticed that the place where all the bin wagons was

There was about 30 Caravans on there so in the space of that morning of the council removing their vehicles a load of dppos had um gone onto the site how they know about it is a mystery to me but they did but uh anyway I knew 100% that there’d be back

On the night time they’d be back for the solar whatever all all trouble and before anyone tells me that The Travelers and the great people no they’re not the thieving bastards that’s all they are don’t give a what YouTube likes what people like that’s what they

Are in my opinion and that’s what they did with my boat I got back to the boat had the Todo with them they basically went off uh I UNM the boat and carried on up the canal so this is why we’re here now but that was

About was well over a week ago called got it all on video and I I’ve shared it with a few people um I talked to people via Facebook messenger and stuff like that um so people have seen it so that they will know everything I talk about and say and

Do uh I can back everything up 100% or there be no point is saying it to be honest but anyway that was then this is that nothing happened to me um I’ll come out of it 100% unscathed so let’s enjoy this little stretch of the cut So on the right you’ll see a bridge and a car park you’ll see what used to be the start of the Bentley canal and right here is where the number one lock used to be I’m moving over a bit because we got some willow trees here and of course wants to whack me

Camera but yeah that now was what was the old Bentley canal and that used to run all the way up to the canet Cal Fields many years ago it’s quite rare to be honest that they bu build on Old Canal Pathways they generally don’t like building on them they use them for roads

Paths Etc but that one they have used been in this Pub many years ago it’s called the Nickelodeon I don’t know what it’s like now but it seems to be quite busy for the food and drinks so might be a good one but I don’t know

There’s a good few moing down here to be honest with you we’ve just passed some and there’s some just pass the pub as well and it’s Ballard moing over here there’s the cinema there’s various food places there’s shops so you can stop and do a bit of shopping here Supermarket type shopping

As well as household so you’re in a bad little spot this one what I will say is though the last time I was here a hell of a lot of people were getting on the boat not to do bad things but they thought it was something to do with the

Businesses here so they thought it was open to the public and things like that so if you do more here you might get a bit of that so it is a little industrial suburbian type of stretch of the canal this one like I say I’m only going up towards the water point

Because I would have had to turn around go all the way back but and it defeats the object you know might as well just carry on to the water point up here it’s been quite a few years since I’ve been up here probably four or five but uh

Yeah there’s not much to say it’s like an inner city suburb really we’re going out of the industrial part now into more of the suburbian but I’m sure there’s a lot worse places to more and go to don’t look too bad to be fair lovely day

Today so far we’ve had a frost last night we’ve had frosts before that and snow before that let’s get the Rev sign and get moving the touch e last time I was here this place directly on the right was an open PB with a garden and just a little bit further

Here on the right was uh a cafe and the cafe put the tables and chairs out the back quite a good idea I mean don’t look like it’s open anymore unless have took them in for the winter time but yeah it was all right down there I’ve been shopping down here

Before the AAR and I go to and it is quite good in all fairness I can remember moing down here for some reason I can’t think for the hell of me what it was cuz I had to got to look at this bridge must have been for wood to got to have

B notice quite a lot of overgrowth of the trees and bushes and then if you had uh a good paint job on your boat you’d be well pissed off down there because it’s proper scraping along the side of mine and that’s when me dodging all right just got to check

Some okay so we got a Wither spoons here as well but the gates are all closed for that woo might took me coat off in a minute now the sun’s come out I mean we’ve had some really rough days we’ve had nearly a full week of rain where I

Was I don’t like moving the boats in the rain it’s so miserable being on the back soaking wet cold it’s bloody horrible that’s why I don’t like going in the rain so we’ve got a few decent days ahead of us so we thought okay time to get

Gy so you know I mean apart from the trolleys which are protruding out the water this wouldn’t be a bad little moing looks quite enough I don’t think you’ll get anything for the solar but obviously I you’re hell of a lot worse so according to that a non-restricted

Moring there is more in rings here which is brilliant so you could stay uh full two weeks here if you wish to not a bad little spot in all fairness your right smack Bang by the shops brilliant spot thankfully it’s not a so strange cycle path it’s all nice and mudy which

Is what I like and I like that for the simple reason you don’t get the bikes doing 40 m an hour pasture and trust me that’s the speeds 40 M plus that they’re doing bloody cinnamon enough times I can judge speed trust me br might get a couple of little videos for the

Shorts okay quite like doing the little short video short and sweet just the way we like them and to be quite honest I can’t see there being much traffic down here on the boats front haven’t had a boat past me for quite a while in all fairness see then a bad little

Suburb this one but like I say as you may have noticed there’s overgrowth from quite a few trees and bushes okay we got some Armco here brilliant for moreing o to get the chains on it it’s my favorite stuff arm cies don’t seem to be getting a lot of

Weed today but there is a bit of debris in the canal noticed a bit of wood trolleys Etc if there’s a little Bridge here a little foot bridge this would be a perf perfect spot more up to the arm cut bit of sun for the

Solar and right there on the left is a road there’s one on the right as well but there’s a fence there can more strip to that park your car jobs are good done yeah like I say there’s houses and roads on the right but there’s um fences there Noticed absolutely loads of reads down here the birds love nesting in them but so far seen quiet a lot of God that’s a big fish look at that Bloody H dead is a door now but about 2T long that thing was and big and thick oh ducks are

Off so when the birds and that get really skish around boats you know that boats don’t travel on there massive reinforced concrete siding on my left tons of wood in the canal bloody up look at that lovely piece of Silver Birch that was wish I had me hook I to grab that

Good sign of any area is the amount of uh rubbish or debr Etc on the top path in the general area and I’ve got to be honest part from the trolleys that I’ve seen in the canal there’s there’s no rubbish enough in down a apart from at the backs of the houses on

The left hand side people are uh throwing stuff over their own fences I can never get my head around that to be honest they’ve got to live there makes no sense to me okay we’ got another potential Ming spot here the downside to this is it’s a bit of open ground on the

Right looks like a bit of a cut for and generally with stuff like that people spot you and want to do a bit of exploring but it’s not too bad in all fairness don’t know if anyone else does it but ever since I got the boat from day

One whenever I pass under a bridge always give it a little tap I don’t know why I must have tapped at least least hundreds of bridges by now some of them you can’t do it but the ones you can do ah now I remember this spot as well

Cuz I was going to Mo here cuz there was a car park smack bang on the right and uh the problem was I couldn’t uh couldn’t get onto the actual Road on foot so I didn’t stay here I carried up but it’s a lovely uh little open straight stretch this

Is and as long as it’s not a private road you can parner as long as it’s not allocated parking you can park there some people can get a bit shy about it but you know just say it’s a public road mate Park where I want

Goodbye what I always do is they uh take a photo or video of where they are and what vehicle they’re in because people like to uh get the keys out and get to work don’t they but if there’s a recourse for it they’re inclined up to uh do stupid like that

Yeah F was all the way along here yeah okay I got no intention of Ming down here anywhere the plan for today is get to the water Point fill up with water and off we go do know one thing though I’ve got to find a place and uh get a bit of

Diesel don’t need it for the boat I filled the boat up literally to the top uh just um I don’t know when would it have been maybe 3 months ago something like that I’ve done quite a bit of traveling I mean I filled it up in Stratford went all the way through the

Suburbs of Birmingham into the city center and back out again so I mean I have covered quite a few miles but this boat’s got two massive diesel tanks so to fill them up um there’s no chance it’s going to run out soon but in all fairness I’m going

To dip the tank and have a look just exactly how much is in there I need the diesel for for the diesel heater because it has been uh quite cold we’ve had -2 -4 – 7 and compared to other countries see you know it’s not freezing but it ain’t too warm

Either well it is freezing actually but I’m sure you get what I mean a lot of other places I mean one of my friends Shane in America uh is it up in Minnesota and – 20 – 30 30 and they have white outs up there which sound absolutely horrendous absolutely loads of reads

They’re all over the place down there I mean they’re dead now but they will come back next summer lovely little safety spot and for nesting sleeping etc for the birds they absolutely love them it’s their little Bol hole that is yeah like I was saying earlier we’ve

Come out of the more industrial part it’s more residential love the Christmas tree in the back Garden it’s a proper good size tray that one as well we got the obligatory swans we give them a wide birth as we take this Bend there we go got a few reads in the canal right

Here so hopefully we won’t get them around the prop but we’ll slow down a bit anyway okay we’re back into a more industrial part of the town still got houses and that here wouldn’t say the was too good there’s a lot of reads and there’s a

This time of year when the reads die you get a lot of Dey come up and so it’ll float in whatever Direction uh the wind’s blowing which unfortunately is blowing from our about of St so it’s pushing us back he good if it was blowing the other way so it’ be pushing us

Forward it’s the way it goes I suppose so yeah the water’s flowing in the opposite direction at all them logs there G I could use them all they’re going to do is sit there from rck if they were on the topa side I’d pull over and grab

Them uh I know where I am now yeah I know exactly where I am it’s good when you know areas it’s like a GPS built into your own brain yeah not far from the water point there yeah I know exactly where we are there’s the road

Bridge and if you go up there that’s where them uh all cars are on that CL uh car Lo thing whatever it is down that way B Bridge go just up there to the island straight over and all the things in cars are just there yeah this road here if you’re ever

M up here there a bloke just up the road probably 10 minutes walk it’s got loads of vintage cars outside buses Vans don’t think he’d want you going on the land but you can see everything from the road and a lot of parts on the road

I think my brother was saying there was uh one of the bent from The Avengers stuff like that some nice uh nice bits to be fair oh for all them coins bloody H it’s all on people’s Gardens in there had a few people in the past um

When I’ve been going past s and you do you want to stop and get this wood but the problem is moreing on the offs side it’s generally extremely shallow you you just can’t get there you’ll get grounded so as nice as it is you can’t do it b Roll
