Beautiful are you ready for a new season of cycling yeah I’m pumped I’m extremely eager to start the season as a spectator it’s Australian national championship week already so they were already Junior races uh the man Elite and women Elite time trials crit racing so yeah it’s nice to be back in down

Under to start in two weeks from the day we record right now so yeah I’m ready and domestique is ready for this episode I ask you to predict the winners of the 12 biggest races of the 2024 season was it a hard task well it was quite difficult because

We have the big names we have a Vanderpool a vanard aachar an AOL these are the the normal names that everybody will say in predictions and if you predict those guys yeah they will be on the podium they will be top five at least and sometimes you want to be a

Surprise want a surprise to win or something more special so yeah it was difficult but last year we got to know you as the non-mainstream guy will you be non-mainstream again today it’s a bit more mainstream than last year but still I have some dark

Horse horses in my in my mind that I didn’t predict but I I think we’ll perform very strong and I still think people Gana for was a dark horse last year but all right let’s get started we will discuss our winners of the races in the next order Milan Sano tour of flers

Par Ru Le Jalia to the France the Olympics in idual time trial Olympics Road Race the Vela espa the World Championships individual time trial and the road race and then we end off with il lombardia let’s get started with Milano Sano um we got two kind of Sprinter

Types uh on top of our list you picked yasper philipsson I picked Arnold Dei can you explain yasper philipsson well Matthew Vanderpool won it in 2023 uh solo and was mainly the the work of pachar that the elite group got away and yeah in such scenario the

Sprinters the fast man don’t really have a chance um to fight for the win at Finish but I think vpol has won Sano right now um so he might write it in a different role and Pacha his season is completely different than it was in 2023

So I expect the race to be a little bit closer and less aggressive um on the climbs because UAE already started pacing on the the tree copy if I remember correctly and right now I think it will be a little bit easier if we can say that and next to that yper philipson

Showed last year he can survive tough terrain and if he gets over over the pojo in the top 15 top 20 maybe in the chasing group 5 to 10 seconds back opon really has the team to bring him back so last year UA te Emirates put a very hard Pace on H

Jessa and then yeah the big four and mainly uh maio VPO he did a nuclear attack so you don’t expect a high Pace on chesa you don’t expect a similar attack on pojo which means there’s more more chances for the fast man to survive in in in a a smaller

Group yeah and once again the weather conditions means a lot as well if there is Tailwind or um headwind on the pojo it makes a lot of difference certainly for the fast guys in the bench um I picked Phillipson now but you pick dele for example both kind of the same

Profile they are very fast at the finish and they can survive something maybe the Lee a bit more he needs to prove himself self um in such races um yasper Phillipson he was at the start of milanoo three times um 2019 he ended 150th 2022 66th and uh last year 15th he

Was not in the second group but he was not far behind so philipsson he proved he can survive um in a bigger group yeah Arnold he was only at the start once last year 95th but what changed my mind was the hi um a very hard race 200 km 2,500

Altitude meters and a very powerful Sprint of the Lee at the end so I know Sano is 90 kilm extra and and yeah still 2,000 altitude meters um he said in himself um the race might be a little too hard for me but he said I think I

Can be in the mix for a top 10 and if you can do that in a certain scenario I think you can win as well and Sono you always have need to have that bit of luck in the race as well it’s a very long race long day in the sadle and

Everybody knows that explosive final with the Shipra with the pojo it will happen at some point and then it’s just yeah having the luck to be at the front and having the legs to stay there I remember two or three years ago Caleb buin cred the pojo in second or in third

Position he was climbing very strong so it’s possible that a fast man win wins it again and opon really has the team for shano that team that they will line up is incredible besides philipson and their main leader Thunder poool they have Sanderson as well who’s always very

Strong and Sano always shows himself on the pjo is always there and then you have Quinton hermans who has to prove himself for the opin management because they want to see result results from Quinton this year and I think Johnny verir will be better than last year

Johnny verir the same so that team is is very strong and they probably will have the they have to carry the race on their shoulders um a lot will depend also on the attitude of other teams of course if I got one more question regarding Milano

Sano um do you know the date of the race not by heart no do you think a ryer is extra motivated on his birthday yeah the 16th of March is the birthday of Arnold well that’s going to be nice but an important thing is positioning as

Well and the lot of Destiny needs to make sure that un is at the front um when they start the asense um in the final so Victor compar this is one for you mate you don’t really want to be in compiz draft because you’re it’s just

Like you’re at the front of the the bench all right two of flers apparently that wasn’t really difficult um you as the big Mau under thepool fan release the beast but yeah I’m a big M vpol fan but if you have to say One race that suits matool the best it’s tures

The the hills the the steepness the length just his explosion iess he can use it almost in every kilometer in that race and the tour ofers breeds mat vpol for me and if he doesn’t have um Mechanicals bad luck crashes he is the main favorite for me and he’s extremely

Difficult to beat in that race um Mach VPO he won basically everything last year that means there’s yeah not that much left anymore for him to win during in the classics but there’s an extra story around T of flers he’s got the rainbow jersey do you

Remember who was the last winner of tour of flers in the rainbow jersey I’m quite [ __ ] at history so no no Eddie MX Peter San oh yeah damn he was the last one but yeah it’s it’s always special to win such a big race in in a rainbow jersey

And if he wins he gets yeah he gets to be co- record holder so and what about the curse of the rainbow jersey I don’t think uh the curse will apply for him much of underp is is bigger than the curse in my opinion um there have been other world champions

But I don’t think uh he will be cursed or something like that this is a quote I will remember and we can use it as a title definitely mat vanderpol is and I think I I will be right I’m I’m almost certain about that the fact that t

Pachar isn’t at the start of tour of flers what does it change for the race it’s a benefit for everyone else in the race it’s pachar because he doesn’t really have a Sprint he has to make the race as hard as hard as he can so he opens up with

119k to go Thunder poool can do that as well but now last year it was an Vanderpool and pachar who made it extremely hard and right now everybody will watch thund thepool he has to do a move or others have to anticipate so I think it’s beneficial certainly for w as

Well um yeah I agree with that but still I think um PE vanard against PE much of vpol on those steep slopes I don’t think a 100% is enough for vanard if thpo is 100% himself too yeah but thpo could team up with pachar

Last year to make it a bit harder and to eliminate jumbo Vima back then but right now it’s VPO and the alas in squads that’s not that strong to fight against the Vima Lea bike boys actually I expect fsma to start the race with the ID okay

Alus in show what you’re worth um you can control the race and will sit here do nothing yeah probably but I know little TR will be working at the front at the start as well they did last year two years ago for M spedition they will

Do it again I’m sure of that for Steven they have a strong team as well so in depth they are strong in dep yeah that’s that’s true but you have to think as well who can beat a peak vpol yeah on paper no one but so if you

Start with that idea yeah yeah we don’t have a race um so much of underp T of flers that’s noted par well the non-mainstream guy is back if you picked Kasper aarin what’s this well I expect a lot from oen um he had a yeah rough season rough two seasons

Actually that it didn’t really go as planned and I expect him together with ala Philip actually to bounce back in 2024 and yeah par is luck he can ride cobbles he he’s a strong guy can you ride cobbles if you can win the Tour of lers

You have to write poter B those are different coues mate yeah I know but still it can happen in my opinion four participations Kasper Asen you know his best result it’s not good 44th but if I remember correctly he always ends up having bad luck could be um do you think

The fact that sudal quickstep has such a bad season um bad Classics campaign last year that the Belgian media will expect less from them yeah I think so it’s they aren’t the main team in the classics anymore because of the bad season they had and it might be a blessing for them that

They they don’t have Tim the clar as well anymore because if Tim is in the team you expect him to be at the front and carry the race in the first 100K and right now T is gone it’s a huge loss for the team don’t understand me wrong but

Now they can just sit back there is they will be more relaxed there will be less dress in the team I think and they can surprise yeah Al is um in the packing order in front of them Vima bike little track even so they are maybe the fourth

Favorite team if we can say so I’m I’m pretty curious to see how a sud quickstep as an underdog will perform because I think yeah the wolf pack they could surprise they will surprise us I’m sure certainly after the in the Autumn that the team exist yeah no they didn’t know and it

Will have an influence as well because everybody who’s in that team now who has the contract for 2024 the story with yumbo Vima will have made sud quickstep even stronger I think yeah they want to prove themsel and we we are a team that is World Tour worthy and can fight for

Monuments expect a lot from them Kasper Asen kind of a surprise to me I picked W fard not really a surprise um in my opinion by is the monument that suits him the best agree if there’s one race he can win um without being the

Best in the race I think it’s par rube but luck needs to be on your side and the past years yeah they were different so we will see about that it’s the first time we talk about fard right now um there we are in the cross season SE

Season right now and there is there has been a couple of fights FP vanard battles Before the Race battles I mean like I see different opinions about he should worry about his form right now that the difference between mat and W or he just should stay calm and keep his

Focus on the the trajectory he has agreed on a month or two go mhm what’s your opinion on that difference in level Well w if you’re listening right now stick to the plan mate um I don’t think he needs to worry um he said it himself

Before the start of the py Cross season multiple times I don’t have the legs I’m still building my form don’t expect too much uh from me but yeah back then everyone kind of agreed and then we got to the races the difference between Vanderpool and vanard was big was really

Really big um VPO he was impressive but to say that vanard needs to worry um come on T of flers is three months away yeah don’t understand me wrong I disagree with the guys who have doubts with the approach he has so far I don’t see any problem um me neither but

It’s going to be important he’s on uh he’s going to Spain again right now and then he’s going to raise one more six race in Benidorm yeah and then he’s just full focus on uh CL so will be it’s in a month and a half that we will

See the opening Classics so exactly stick to it I would say yeah no need to worry no um but what if after T of lers and Par if he he didn’t win um either one of them I what would you say in that case about his cyle cross season I think if he

Has another year without that big fish that he’s aiming for his whole Road career till now it will start to get in his in his head it’s the team around him is very strong even stronger because now they signed jurgenson within that team and the chances he will get as leader or

Co-leader the team will wants to win a monument as well it was on their target list for 202 Tre it was the only thing that failed for them as team goal there are other riders in the team as well it’s not only W fad but still team wise it might be difficult

For him I don’t think Vima will ever doubt of his capacities as a leader but as you say it will get in his head it will become a mental thing this season is by far the most important one of his career yeah um this is the year in which

It needs to happen and if it doesn’t happen then there might be a mental problem I I definitely agree with that yeah so let’s hope he gets that big fish I think everybody will be happy not only belgians but everybody will be happy that he gets that win that he actually

Deserves because the attractiveness that he is racing with is yeah incredibly nice to see the fourth uh spring Monument Le Baston Lees um again the same name for both of us pachar last year he broke his wrist yeah in that race mcoo won it twice in the

Meantime why do you think pogacha will win Lees well it’s Pacha first of all and that’s an easy answer it’s he will be in his buildup towards the Jito his first part participation participation in the Jito and even at 80 85% aacha is so extremely strong so explosive um ramco

Is going to Li as well but yeah it was between ramco and T for me and T is going to the Jiro um rco will build up towards to the France yeah do you think that means pachar will be will have better a better form in Le

Than than even depend if ramco already has a sort of peak towards Le to go down a little bit then to finally have his big peak for the tour um if he does that I think it will be quite equal between the two because Pacha I don’t know how

Long there is between Le and jro it’s not very long I think two weeks two or three weeks Max so you have to be in a decent shape because jro start is quite difficult as well so you can’t right into the Jito so I think M Pacha will be

At 90 95% in Le and it will depend if Remco does a peak for LI or no Evol does he have to drop pachar or do you think he relies on his Sprint head to-head I have no clue really I everybody always said um Remco can’t Sprint the last two

Three years but in the 2023 season he proved us all wrong you he he could yeah yeah yeah last year he proved us wrong everybody said you you can’t train of really train on explosiveness and on Sprint power but ramco proved it can he became from a non-s sprinter to actually

Quite a fast guy at the finish the punch he has in that last 500 400 meters he even beat rogish in uh boss country in 2023 or in in Catalonia one of those two Catal it was yeah so yeah he’s fast at the line and we only saw Pacha go to the

Line in Classics with aandp vanard those guys are extremely fast at such such finish but I can believe that pachar is slow at the Finish Line certainly he’s not slow but I don’t know it’s it’s 5050 for me for me it’s 50/50 to be honest um

Rco he can win Le for the third time in a row another quiz there were three Riders who won it three times in a row give me the three names pass you should know at least one of them three times in a row and say the

The other two I’m going to think of bit the other two are Leon Hua he won the three first editions of Le Baston Lees and the third one was Moreno arentine Eddie MX Eddie MX is the second one plus one for E what a difficult question

All right first ground tour J Italia T bachar his first ever um appearance in Italy at the start of jro we both picked T poacher um simply because um together with vineard and Rit and maybe AOL those are the strongest gr tour riders in this generation and he’s the only one at the

Start um do you think it will be a difficult battle for pachar to win I’m going to quote derer for this one and say he’s going to clap um the opposition and so an easy D easy D yeah to complete the D sentence yeah but if he has a normal build up towards

The jro ticked off everything he wanted before the jro and then those first two weeks go as planned then maybe even the last part of the third week he can already write a bit more defensively so you think he will race if all goes well

With the ID okay I’ve got two the France coming up as well it would be quite smart actually just those first week and a half two weeks just put in time in the opposition um make sure you have a healthy lead and then in the third week

Ride a bit more defensively he never did that before right defensively it’s not but it would be with the the season the calendar he has for 2024 it might be a smart thing to write a bit more defensively in the last part of the jeto if the situation is it possible in the

Situation that they are right in that time but it wouldn’t be a bad thing in my opinion to do that what do you think about his choice of going to Jud Italia I love it you love it I love the guy schedule he just says screw the traditional appr

Approaches the the one big goal thing in the season that thing and then we have some preparation preparation preparation races like vinar does for example um nothing to do or nothing against vinar but we’ll get back to that the attractiveness that Pacha creates just by this schedule this calendar remember

When they announced at UAE how social media how viral everything went how social media exploded just for a schedule yeah but it’s po if he farts social media explodes as well yeah if you compare it two weeks later with vineard there was a lot a big difference

Between the two that brings us uh to to the France and we both picked yonas vinard but Eve you said um I love the approach of T pachar and I remember a discussion we had I think two weeks ago and the things you said there um gold

Gold let’s get started with um what you said about vegard’s program and you called it a gray Mouse program please explain well it’s basically basically full preparation towards the tour he starts again um what’s that Spanish uh stage race again it’s not Burgos the grand

Camino um and then he does the the doin um the traditional way traditional approach to the to the France and it’s boring it’s those races are are very nice and but it’s so yeah outdated it’s an approach from five six seven years ago and it works

Perfectly for him he might be in one scenario record holder to the France winner um in 5 seven years but well it’s not you said when you called it a gry mouse program I think that was um the most special thing you would have said that day but it wasn’t I

Was wrong um you said it’s okay the program is okay but will everyone remember him in 20 years the guy won to the France twice in a row will everyone remember him in 20 years how can you say that result wise people might remember him um people who love um stats and who

Look up winners Etc will remember him but when you tell stories to your children in 20 25 years vinard will not be the first Rider I talk about when in my youth I watched cycling it’s the first one that pops in my mind is pacher then you have a vpol

Vanard um those guys and vinard extreme ex talented guy best Grand Tour Rider um in the current pin but yeah except the results that he might get four five six to the front at the end of his career exceptional not a lot do not a lot of riders do that

But I will remember aachar more than I will remember a vinard in 20 25 years fair enough can t pachar battle against the best vineard after going to jro no so you think will be an easy win for for vineard or no because the the strength

Of the UAE team that goes to the Tour of France it’s we talked earlier about I’ve got the list here tachar Adam COV Soler dein poet almea and Juan AO it’s an insane team and as we already mentioned with the classics little track strong team in depth we can say say exact

Exactly the same for UAE but it’s stronger than strong in depth he had an AO who’s the next big thing he’s so good he has his morphology his his body the mindset he’s so good and it’s only a matter of time before he wins his first Grand Tour and pachar can

Play the roit rooll exactly two years ago so UA M it’s is stronger than used to be the past years um Vima Le a bike doesn’t have vot F art this season one could say it’s a little less strong because of that but as you mentioned um vinard and

Rugit they beat pachar together that way it could be the other way around this time with almea with auso um poacher he can play his cards now it’s very important that UAE gets the team on one line and the main goal the only goal is to win the Tour to France and that

Everybody is honest with each other and communicate with each other and if they can achieve that together with a very good strategy because UAE hasn’t always proven to be good strategy wise if they can get that on one line it will be difficult for the Vima

Le bike to control that race and to get vineard in the yellow Jersey in Paris but purely looking at quality and performance level vinard is the main favorite do you agree with my take that vimala bike is less strong without fard yeah certainly because um having a vanard such a ver

Versatile rider in the team who can ride as fast on the flat as uphill another L of riders can do that in the current Pro peltin okay that brings us to the Olympics maybe add one more thing to J France Primos RIT yeah well if you add Primos RIT I

Think you should also add rco AOL because um with rugit and AOL there are now four players for yeah the top step on the podium the past years um with all respect for the others there were only two main competitors vinard and bachar but that could make it even more interesting

Um if RIT attacks if even attacks yeah bachar can say to vinard yeah mate fix it so it could be a very special year there in France what do you expect from Rish he can go back to the to Def France again as big leader he has a good team

In support I need to be honest I don’t think um Primos rug will ever win to the France in his career um he will be in the mix he he will do a great job on I’m I’m sure of that but I can’t see him beat yonas

Vinard so the Olympics um yeah Paris uh the individual time trial you picked W fard and I put um Philip oana on my sheet why vote fard it’s a big Target for for Road the Olympics um the time trial and the road race um he has a lot of rest after the

Jito um he can build up um in a relaxed way towards the Olympics and it can prove for it’s a benefit for him in comparison to some others I know Ghana is going to the jro as well but Ghana is also doing the track racing

Yeah so he will be a bit more fatigued or a different preparation towards I don’t know what comes first the individual um but still your your buildup towards it is is a bit different um and besides Ghana um there is also Joshua darling but yeah r as well why didn’t you pick

Tling uh why didn’t I pick Tarling I I expect a lot from him this season again he will grow and progress more in comparing to 2023 he had an ex exceptionally strong 2023 season but the Olympics is something that happens once in four years that guy is so young and

It will give a lot more pressure at the start of the Olympics and he still has three Olympics to go maybe mhm and I think he’s a bit too young to hand hand that Olympic game pressure and it’s yeah it’s everybody knows it’s once in four

Years so I have my doubts did Ghana win the Olympics already uh no clue I will look that up all right um maybe we should tell us a little more about the course of the Olympics individual time trial the course is 32 km long and has 150

Altitude meters so that’s not a lot um that might favor guys like fard Ghana and tling more over Remco eveno but yeah even has the Olympics on his mind as well so um you’ve got the answer on the Ghana question 2020 Tokyo Was Won by Primos yeah indeed in well

That was my idea of putting Ghana on my sheet as a time trialist you can win a lot of races but there is only one big race he didn’t win yet and that’s the Olympics he will be pumped so I guess it will be a big Target for him and yeah we

All know what happens if Ghana targets something on a time trial bike then he’s pretty fast onto the road race the same name again um despite also focusing on mountain biking we both picked Macho Vanderpool the course is 273 km along with 2,800 vertical met but inside the

Final 50 km there’s three times the MRE clim 1 kilometer with an average gradient of 6.5% yeah that’s for me it’s a bit the same story as you mentioned with Ghana he mat races yeah and mat Wonder poool won almost everything he can win in the the classics season

So he’s 29 right now if he wants to be Olympic champion it’s right now maybe the next one in four years but then he’s already 33 34 so and he finds a course that suits himly perfectly so yeah he’s one of them guys to beat the final Ascent of MRE um

Is with 10 kilometers to go so that’s yeah it’s not as deep as PB but yeah you could compare it to tour of flers in in a certain way um the road race is after mountain biking if I remember correctly because three or four days there is only

Um less than a week between the end of the thir of France and Paris Mountain Bike um and then I think three or four days later is the road race is that a problem I hope for matp that he doesn’t go to to the fronts that he’s not

Obliged by the team and if he goes he has to leave on the second rest day uh a lot of people will make sure he’s recovered yeah will argue with that that he’s leaving another grand tour to to the FR again all the Riders will say you

Got you can get super compensation by doing full T the fronts and then doing the road race you can get but he’s has the problem is mountain biking for you that’s the big problem for me don’t go to at to the FR go to the VTA prepare for the worlds then but

Yeah Vela you already mentioned it um Primos RIT here he is I just said Primos RIT can’t beat yonas vard at to France but you think he can beat him at V ESP way more than it than the t France does steeper clim steep hills shorter climbs uh steep climbs Hills sorry V

Steeper shorter and yeah but still we both agree on the fact that yonas vinard is the best gr tour Rider of his generation why do you think RIT will beat him in Spain because the VTA is really something that RIT adors he wanton it three times already against tough opposition as well

And he in those three editions quite dominated and the opposition so yeah it was just my my gut feeling VTA and Rish within a new team if the tour doesn’t work out he will be really eager to get that grand tour win for um B Hans gr what about

Seus this this is a qu question to make me quite unpopular because I don’t think quiz will win another grand tour ever again ever again he how can I say do you think he still wants to win another one good question as well and I have

After the vaa he said never again um to his wife yeah but two months later he said something else he let me say it like this I don’t think he will lie awake at night because he didn’t win another ground tour no in his career and he won the VTA you can’t

Say because of luck but the race situation because of goodwi unfolded perfectly to get in that break and to get those three or two minutes three minutes we need to be honest and then the good from he wasn’t the strongest in the race and his time traling is quite rubbish certainly flat time

Trials and he doesn’t strain at all for time Charles he mentioned in the podcast during the VTA but sep we will still be your biggest fan don’t understand mey again it’s insane what what you what you did what he did there but he yeah he will not be a leader

Within that team he might be he might have a protected role because he’s defending champion and you it’s quite weird to let the defending Champion domestique with 50ks to go on the penultimate climb but still it’s and he knows it himself I’m sure I got to defend my pick as well um

I agree with you that that Spain suits rogich more but I think still it won’t be enough to beat Yas vinard so he won US for his second ground tour in 204 that would be quite epic though remember vaa 2023 the the relationship between yonas and primor

Wasn’t you think there will be some some tension between the two of them but I don’t know but it’s going to be quite fun if I’m on the domestic life in some sort of race and then I can get the picture from 2023 and 2024 next to it

It’s well is their tension I don’t really know because yonas had a lot of respect for Primos and he says he owns they both got a lot of respect for each other without doubt almost everything to Primos because in that to the France that he got the

White we need to be honest Primos he kind of left yumbo Vima as a God yeah yeah he’s the one who made the the team and well well deserved as well what he did for that team um three races left starting with the World Championships individual time trial we’re racing

Against the clock again um this time you picked rco IO the one on my sheet is Joshua thorling big blls uh the course 6 46 kilom long with 4133 M of elevation gain that’s rco even pool style um the guy backto back world championship title will be on his head

But yeah Joshua darling I think he will step up his game and if he hasn’t beat beaten um P Ghana at the Olympics I think this will be his his victory it’s pretty insane what one year one exceptionally strong year does with the expectations for a young guy like Joshua

Darling do you think it’s wrong of me to pick him we we posted the the thread on X with the yeah the spots open that everybody all followers could predict and a lot of times Joshua tling came up there if you compared it to last year a

Monster on that time Tri if you compare to last year no one mentioned him only the real yeah people with cycling not we knew him we knew who he was but we didn’t really know how he would perform he’s so young and to win that big races already and right now that those

Expectations are so high and I’m always quite scared it’s not wrong to put him on there but I’m always quite scared with expectations on young guys certainly the guy young as well yeah but he’s he’s within Inus as well um that team is under pressure those last year certainly on Grand tools
