1 kilometer in 55. 433 seconds with an average speed of 65.45 km per hour starting from a standstill that is the fastest anyone has ever ridden a bike over a distance of 1 kilm in a V drone recently Jeffrey hland has beaten the world kilo record out in Mexico and

To put this into perspective and to show you how brutal this record is we’ve come up with a challenge yes can we beat it today on our road bites using whatever means necessary to go faster than ever before in the wet let’s do it it is an unfathomably fast speed on

The bike and hugan actually broke this 10-year-old record in Mexico at altitude and he said he actually vomited immediately afterwards and had to take supplemental oxygen just to recover yeah this is cycling being pushed to its absolute limits and to really kind of put this into perspective look at this

Graph of hugin’s effort from zavier Disney and we can see that he reached 7 24.95 kmph after 500 M and this Dutch cycling Superstar also hit 70 K that’s 70 K after 250 M how on Earth are we going do that I really don’t know how

We’re going to go any faster than that well you know what Dian said it will be a hard challenge even if you did it downhill so that’s exactly what we’re going to do and we got the perfect Hill for it oh gosh oh yeah oh gosh The

Descent I have chosen is called midford Hill and is close to gcn HQ in the southwest of England in total it’s 1.3 km long with an average grin of 5.6% according to straa however a good 800 M of that gradient is is mostly 8 to 9% before it levels out now this is

Super fast a main road with a 60 MPH speed limit it’s straight and flowy and the perfect road to reach Peak speeds on and hopefully beat jeffy’s time in the process even though we have a cracking Hill we’re still going to need to put down a big effort to get this record it

Said that hugin’s power for his kilo attempts to 2,700 wats and he averaged close to 900 watts for the entire effort which are big big numbers I’m not sure if my 3y legs are going to be enough even though I am pointing them downhill okay we are at the top of Hanks

Hill I’m not sure how it’s going to go but either the way he’s going first for the job I’m going to watch what happens and then maybe I’ll try too good luck three [Laughter] two come on serious okay 3 two [Applause] 1 One thing that we are faced with is the force of the Wind on a Vel Drome you don’t have the wind not quite sure how I got on so let’s get back up the hill let Connor go and then let’s check out the effort but I was topped out there nothing more in Me right then I’ll hold you it’s time for the Giants take the St get your legs up there you go you ready I think I am bloody hell you’re humongous I can’t see anything I am humongous right you ready Conor I’m ready beep beep beep beep surprisingly hard you know going down

Hill I’ll definitely hit the speed needed but not sure it’s going to be enough to get the average high enough felt like I just been dropped over Mountain trying to chase on frantically I’m knacked I’m to head back up there and see what we’ve managed and if we can

Improve we weren’t really successful no sadly we didn’t get jeffy’s time we didn’t beat it what was your time so I did 1 minute and 5 Seconds which I’m quite happy about yeah Max Speed 65 km per hour so we still way off his max speed 10 seconds slower though than his

Time and more record Pace I did 59 seconds so I did 6 seconds faster than you which doesn’t sound a lot but when you actually spell it out one there is much oh con’s decided to go that’s quite a lot time quite a long time I don’t

Know why I’m so much slower than you it’s because I’m a better Rider than you anyway let’s move on because you’re not that’s the thing well I am that’s fact why are you a better Rider than me just cuz look let’s not get into it we are

Going to show you how we can beat jeffy’s time what are you doing next well I’m going to I’m going to come up trumps in a challenge here four ones and you are going down my friend fatty of the belly I’m not feel sick and you just hit me in

The belly I’m not doing a standing start that’s my tactic I’m scrapping that out of the window for one throwing that out the into the rubbish the biggest thing for me was the resistance of the the air so I’m going to lower the resistance by getting more errow okay well I’m taking

The standing starway and I’m sprinting from the miles back to get up speed and I’m going straight into it we’re getting up to speed I just realized that Hanks nicked my tools at the bottom of this so i’ got further motivation to get down here fast here we

Go we’re up to speed and we’re off one Kilm that was fast 58 seconds I’m still short how did you do 58 seconds you you rolling into it I don’t know I think what speed you roll in at well I kind poled into it I’m probably faster I’ll beat you by 1 second from a standing

Start mate you’re useless let me ass you I’ll do this what are you going to do I’ve got SE secret weapon I think we just leave Jeffrey have this one no no check out this but I’m going to have to I’m not that good

At text you need to put on for me why am I doing this for you you’re my mechanic come on you’re perfectly capable of doing this yourself I can’t do this you’re perfectly capable I can’t you can I’ll direct you I don’t want to get my hands dirty and I don’t

Want any responsibility for what you’re about to do next that’s not what you use for that you plug C what what do I do do with that that’s for your disc your arms getting tight yes just hold on hold on and we shall eat bread so you didn’t beat jeffy’s time no

I didn’t with a rolling start with 59 you got 59 seconds that’s even 58 seconds that’s 3 seconds off you beat me by 1 second you beat me by 1 second anyway I’ll get over it it’s now my turn I’m going to take Arrow to whole

New level Jeffrey had a disc I’ve got a disc Jeffrey had an a lid I’ve got an A lid the air is denser meaning the only resistance I am going to be going because I’m not on flat or I’m not on a climb is going to

Be the wind so I’m hoping this going to make all the difference and I’ve also taken off my jacket well I’m going to wait at the bottom and see what happens good luck thanks right here it goes into the big ring rolling into it it starts in three two one Go [Applause] [Applause] oh I’m not funny but I think I should sign up to a pro again I don’t think that’s a good idea but anyway how fast did you go right my max speed is as follows I heard you holler as you went past and you SED like a bullet adrenaline going

Through me yeah I’m glad I was standing here wait 72.4 was my Max Speed so close to Jeffrey close to Jeff’s max speed and my time do you want know my time know 51 seconds 51 seconds no way what did you do 58 so you smashed it 2 7 Seconds more than faster

Than me 4 seconds the record sh I arrows everything I’m telling you the biggest resistance I felt on that first run was the wind we got dense air we going high speeds and the more air so you can’t cuz you’re B door but like I can get cuz I’m

Smaller lower profile few changes a lid makes a few amount of difference put in an arrow disc on the back I haven’t even got a deep section front or Tri broke so I could technically even faster and then if I put Tri balls on and a skin suit as

Jeffrey did I reck I could knock off another 10 seconds it’s true I mean it’s pretty incredible though that we had to go to those lengths to beat the time flying starts disc a massive St Hill the fastest he we could find close dcent Mega base yeah I enjoyed that that was

Great we still did it but I I mean you didn’t do sorry you didn’t actually do it I did anyway if you enjoy this video Hit Thumbs Up Button let the comment section below what you think of this challenge see the next’s video Rob why didn’t I to

Go World talk oh stop talking how you ride the hero I I talking

    1. 64 ๐Ÿ˜† im doing 70 uphill. amateurs.
its not a joke. really. i had an accident, i scrubbed the tarmac for 20 meters, before i was stopped at the curb. what speed does that take? and no, im not a pro, i was just late for work.

    2. I'd love to see Hank, fully aero'd up, try it from a standing start on an e-bike. That might give him the initial boost needed.
Also, Connor's face when Hank said he was the better rider ๐Ÿ˜‚

    3. Itโ€™s not as though countless amazing challenges havenโ€™t proven it already, but this shows me that the GCN team is stacked with truly awesome riders. Those conditions are terrifying. Amazing.

    4. I can give you the number to the Suicide Prevention Hotline. I think you need it. 65 km/h on a wet, curvy road. You guys are NUTS!!!

    5. Respect to Conor that he never mentions the humungous elephant in the room that is the fact he's as aerodynamic as a parachute.

I'd love to see Conor on a recumbant vs Hank on a TT bike. I reckon that might be quite close…

    6. Obviously, Conor is just bigger/less aero. Amazing effort by both! I enjoy this even if it should probably have a โ€˜do not try this at homeโ€™ warning. At first I thought a TT bike would be a good call, but immediately thought โ€˜Iโ€™d prefer these guys to live on to make more videos.โ€™ Thanks, gents!

    7. darn that's bonkers. The original record of course, and you both riding on the wet. #askgcn Which tyres size and model did you use for grip on such a wet road? I can only imagine something like the Continental Contact Urban up to the task

    8. Grab yourself a BARGAIN and decent spec 1st road bike or winter spare. Yesterday I ordered a new 2022 Giant Contend 1, rim brake bike from Winstanley Bikes of Wigan. With 40% off the RRP of ยฃ999, I paid just ยฃ599. I spoke to staff on phone who said its on its way from the warehouse. With Shimano Sora 50/34 and 11-34 cassette, Sora levers and Tektro rim brakes at around 9.5kg I think whilst this is a starter road bike spec, it represents great value for money and receives good reviews. I have no affiliation with Winstanleys, suggest you check availability over phone, as I did.
