Bicycle Touring Spain Day 7 – Barcelona // In the 7th and final day of the tour I make my way from the campsite through Barcelona, and out to the airport. Navigating through Barcelona turns out to be a lot trickier than I would have though. Finally at the airport I prep my bike for the trip back home.

They help me go in the back of the bike it’s exciting good morning it’s time for day seven and the final day of my tour around Catalonia I’m just getting ready to leave a camping place and go on towards Barcelona and look at a few sights on my way out to the airport [Applause] [Applause] So a stop to take us on clothes it’s got pretty warm mother quick today and was a bit scary to get out of the camping place because the road from the camping was directly out on the freeway so I had to go on that for almost a kilometer and

Then I found this more calm Road through this essential area or something so now moving on towards Barcelona have no idea how glad I am to found you cycling I’m going up to see a park um it’s quite a climb up here I didn’t expect this it’s more my regular clothes today instead of cycling clothes I’m taking it quite easy that finally reached the park girl and I should have really started decided to go here because it’s a closed

Parking you have to pay a m+ v of 8 years and it’s a really really really long queue so I haven’t got the time so I’m just gonna head downtown and see if I find something interesting on the way instead well anyways I got a nice

View over Barcelona from up here so this is worth the climb up [Applause] So yes got pulled over by the police they say that I shouldn’t be cycling down in the park with Johnny by the way I think of thank you kind please officer this was much better choice of route finally starting to approach the airport and a few kilometers left good time

We’ve got about an hour until I want to be there yes I thought I’d stop and eat lunch here tonight – drummers from the airport instead of getting inside so I made my lost but yet of the trip getting it here in the sunlight taking it all in

Tomorrow I’ll be back in Sweden where it’s like maybe at the best 3 or 4 degrees Celsius in the day so I wonder if that’s the plane flying through in right so while I’m sitting here and enjoying the last sunlight I want to reflect on the bicycles paths and lack

Of them in Barcelona there’s one thing if you’re just going through Barcelona I think you can do that pretty easily but if you’re like me and are stupid see some sites then you’re gonna be in for a lot of trouble because as soon as you factor now from Psychopaths you go

In to like ordinary streets and it takes a lot of time in the cast there are red lights in each and every one corner that’s what’s happened happened to me today to think I spent like two hours inside of our snowman just waiting for green lights so going through okay going

Crisscross and seeing from sites don’t think about it mister Norwegian play I’m flying home well So now I wrapped everything that needs to be wrapped and now just put the bike in the CTC plastic right it’s ready for takeoff This is everything put three pioneers in this Reebok bag and that one I’m just carrying on as carry-on luggage they help me go in the back of the bike it’s exciting [Applause] [Applause] Now both the bag and the bike is checked and cleared just a little I mean I can also add some old fake it’s awesome it’s the coulomb oh hi Michael here as you can see I made it back home to Sweden and I would like to thank you for

Watching this video and for those who made it through all seven of them in this series thanks a lot and I would also like to take this opportunity to ask a favor of you I’m planning on doing a summary of this tour in a video in the

Upcoming weeks so if you have some questions regarding the tour I would really appreciate if you leave them in the comment section below and I’ll try to answer them in the next video so until next time have a good one

    1. I really love your videos! Wonderful shots of the landscapes and the way you capture real life trials of bicycle touring. You have such a calm, soothing voice that adds a wonderful element to your videos. Thank you. I would love to know what gear you use on your trips such as camping gear and bicycle panniers and bags.

    2. Another great video Mikael and congratulations on completing your Spain tour, you are an inspiration, very easy to listen to and also watching you helps me learn about bike touring, like taking bike on planes etc
I even got the Sony hdr as200vr recently ( I know you have changed to Canon, but I like this quality )
My Sony did not come with mounts so it would be helpful if you could possible show or say which are the best mounts to buy and also how to easy edit the videos, maybe you could do a little video on how to film your bike rides📸…many thanks, Tom

    3. Hey Mikael…hope you enjoyed what you could in Barcelona, as you've noted, it turns more like a pedestrian city…not too accommodating to cyclists, but still a beautiful city. Enjoy your reunion with family…as for questions re summary…curious what material your bike is made of ? …the one-handed action at the airport check in made it look feather-lite 💪 💪. Thanks again for the videos , great trip all around!

    4. Great video series from your bicycle tour to Spain! Thank you for sharing your experiences. And I have a question for your summary video: What are the top 5 tips for any cyclist planning to go to tour in Spain?

    5. Enjoyed your Spanish tour Mikael , very easy watching and well presented . What make of bike and weight is it ? as it looked so light when de-bagged . The airport transition looked very smooth too a lot easier than taking kids with you lol
Look forward to further adventures atb Dave …

    6. What modifications have you done to your Kona Sutra? Do you have a kickstand, what bikelocks are you using? Im curious since I recently bought the cheper version Kona Sutra AL, and setting it up now. Thanks for all the great videos 😉

    7. Very enjoyable series, Mikael, many thanks for taking us along. I guess for a couple of questions; how many kilometres or miles did you cover, and what was your favourite part? Thanks again!

    8. My concern is about being chased by fierce dogs. Any encounter with dogs during your Spain tour or during your other long rides? How did you deal with snapping K9s?

    9. Looked like a great trip. My question is how did you negotiate the trip with your wife? It must have been hard to get away from the family responsibilities. Have you gone touring as a family before?

    10. Thank you for a very enjoyable series.
      Several questions.
Is wild camping permitted in Spain? If not ,is it still possible with due consideration i.e. arrive late leave early.
How expensive is Spain in terms of what cycle tourists typically buy e.g. food, eating out, accommodation, campsites where used?
How did you communicate, Spanish, English, French or Swedish or other language? Do many people speak English in Spain? I suppose they will if the person you speak to is English. Haha!

    11. Great series, thank you for making!!! Sorry if this has been asked already. Was wondering if you have your route online somewhere to view. Thinking of doing the same loop

    12. Hi Mikael, l have enjoyed watching you become much more comfortable in front of camera, its a real treat. My question is do you carry the bag you put your panniers in at the airport, or buy a new one each time you fly? We are about to leave on our first international trip with bikes and was curious about how most people transport their pannier bags to start of tour.

    13. Hi Mikael. Great series. I see you used a bag for the bike. I was able to buy a box at Biarritz airport to return home. Would you buy a box if the airport was selling them? Have you ever had any damage with a bike in a bag?

    14. I have just finished your Trip to Catalonia… Excellent (again)! I have a general bike related question… If you have interest to consider. This bike is a flat handle bar bike and on your more recent videos you have the Kona Sutra with drop handles. As a continuous rider/user of many hours, what are the pros and cons of flats vs drops? I would be interested in your experience and opinion. Thanks again for a great channel. Felix
