Solo motorcycling trip to eastern Europe.
This episode I set off from Devon UK and begin my journey via the channel tunnel train in to france & Belgium Luxembourg and arrive in Baden-Baden at the head of the Black forest in Germany.

Good morning people I’m off on my trip it’s uh 15th 16th of October it’s pretty cold it’s 4 degrees uh yes I’m going off around Europe the Beast is packed the Beast of Burden it’s heavy tried to lift it up onto the s yes they

Were just the top but in it and I pulled my back it’s heavy I’ve just packed as minimal as I can I intend camping as much as I can to keep the cost down so uh yeah we we’ll see how that goes right wish me luck next up Channel

Tunnel rough idea is I want to get to Istanbul in Turkey maximum three weeks the weather ain’t looking too clever we shall see how it goes let’s start the Beast got to get the fat thing out of the gate yeah he’s all right he’s quite F he’s further

Back sounds nice on start up doesn’t it there she is ready to rock and roll baby we’ll look after each other all right see you later Le bye going to miss you see later see you later and we’re off wobble our way to the channel tunnel

Got me Lings back in as uh ironic you know I choose to go away end of towards the end of October when the temperature really dropped now I would have gone in the first part of October but uh circumstances dictated I couldn’t uh my son got married which is a really good

Thing was a really lovely weather it was beautiful so nice think we’ll go this Way so yes I don’t mind the Colder Weather you can always dress up a bit can’t you it’s at night time I’m a little bit concerned about camping so uh see how good my sleeping bag is I actually last night I thought I’m bringing a whole water bowl cuz I

Packed a whole water bowl um I think I packed near everything AP from the kitchen sink I did try to be minimalistic but certain things certain Creature Comforts that you get used to when you get older and one is being warm yeah and it also is looking after

Your back in your knees and your hips you want to stay Warm anyway I think that’ll do for a minute Bye well I’m nearly in the end of England Channel tunnel it’s being cold it was 4° and uh I did most of the trip with my vest not working cuz uh the controller’s faulty so I’ve got a Link cable and I put that in and it seemed right then it’s roasty

Toasty hope in the right place great passenger the second time this year I’ve been on the channel tunnel did earlier in July had a retreat down in L yeah I think so yeah yeah that’s it you all done your bike and I’ll the hand oh thanks a lot it said a five digigit

Booking reference but I’ve got 2 4 six eight digit ticket bought me a peg thanks a lot Right I guess I can get straight on can I what are you ha yeah you can go straight yeah yeah go straight thanks oh there okay ex a lot Thanks bonjo than okay let’s see Mery Buu there send the cars down first a second yeah sure I like waving their arms about giv of a sense of purpose to it yep think he said stay on the right straight down yeah we’re R Miss madams P oh we a little right in

France myself a little bit that’s all right they tell they’re quite polite here I think uh oh uh two left lanes if we want to go on the left hand side woohoo little bit of anxiety it’s right at the back of the Train on me own it’s weird it’s like a

Crossing into the Afterlife give me an idea why it might be like being on your own no reference points so going to I know it might be a strange comment but it’s going to happen to all of us at some point be a little bit prepared and

Consider what it may be like isn’t it rather than just totally ignore the fact the next big adventure right heading down to uh a campsite in the National Park which I can’t remember the name of in the Arden this is uh seemingly very pretty I

Booked uh when I was on the train I booked a a pitch for my tent um yeah that’ be my first night camping for a very very long time I’m sh myself no I’m not really uh well it’s all new isn’t it got the little tan tangia mes burner cooker sleeping bag

Blanket hot water bottle got all the basics some glub so we shall see anyway that take you along for the ride and also I don’t know if I necessarily record these for others primarily for myself as a record um but if you enjoy it let me know someone else can get some enjoyment

From it that’s good been following safy sprocket on YouTube She’s a lovely girl she’s not that much of an experienced motorcyclist but she’s Brave she gives it a go and I give her my utmost respect and she’s an inspiration actually I just think well she can do it I can do it if

I can do it you can do it it’s having The Bravery to step out of our comfort zones isn’t it also Chris from 44 teeth by Baron von Grumble Channel he’s uh he’s also done this trip and he’s another in Inspiration so you know we can have an adventure can’t We perhaps that’ll be an inspiration to you all doable doesn’t mean we’re not going to feel anxiety feeling anxiety is normal natural part of being a human being becomes a problem when we get anxiety about having anxiety it passes doesn’t It so um I’ve chosen the route with no TOS it crosses into Belgium so that could be another sticker to put on my uh top Box anyway speak to you later bye for now look you can’t be a BMW Rider and not go to Starbucks even though it is in Belgium or France I’m not sure where uh yeah had a cold night last night 7° this weird dream that uh someone was unzipping my tent and I

Couldn’t move or cry out I could s of hear my voice going I couldn’t speak it was horrible and eventually I woke up it’s quite relief maybe a bit of anxiety a bit of insec security anyway so I’m heading down to bon bon bon bon not try you get out of Here I’m just doing the auto routes uh just to get down as far as I can when I get to the Black Forest I’ll enjoy a bit more of the scenic roads Yeah and we’re off again it’s definitely quite chilly 8° the big storm coming in so I’m not looking forward to that hopefully I get out of the way of it yeah time to go big boy anyway not much to see I’ll see you in a I’ll see you in a while good

Morning or should I say good and Morgan in my tent and Buren B it’s cold 4° it’s good job with sleeping bags good but uh I found out my tent isn’t waterproof it’s wet I did start the night over there and the seem to have transmigrated to this

Position I did sleep quite well actually considering woke up once had a pee I didn’t go to the toilet just peed outside anyway we’ll see what the Day brings going to get up and have a coffee black forest today so uh it’s a nice twisty roads bit more

Leisurely today I’m not going to rush and then head down towards Switzerland and I’m going to stay in a hotel tonight the lap of of luxury we’ll see I’ll probably go for cheap digs cuz I’m a skin Flint uh yeah show you around my tent all right I see you in a bit

    1. Liked the video, mate 😂 I still prefer riding on my own as your free to do what you want 😉 As for camping I'll pass on that thanks as I'm 65 now and would be happy if I only had to get up once a night for a P 😂😂😂

    2. I watched your video as i am intending to go next may but mine will be just 1 week and i fancy black forest and bavarian alps but like you i intend camping as much as possible. In may i went around germany with my daughter on .y 2022 r1250gsa rallye te as i live in huddersfield i used hull p and o ferry to rotterdam then to hannover then berlin the inzell bavaria visited obersalzberg then back to wiesbaden the rotterdam but may will be channel tunnel so 6 hoyr journey to folkstone then somehow down to black forest hopefully avoiding motorways as much as poss as they are way too fast then bavaria and up around the alps not booming any campsites or hotels as things change and i want to waste very little. One tip i found keep speed down on motorway for better mpg

    3. 15 countries in 10 days ,but how much have you actually seen of it. Now why don’t you do it properly 10 counties in 15 months on a small capacity bike & make it a real adventure .

    4. Looks like a great trip, especially if the weather is ok. Not much fun camping in the wet. I have similar anxiety issues – camping on my own but mainly the fear of falling – I too have a 1250GSA and would not be able to pick it up without help when fully laden. Would mean a lot of unloading/reloading to get going again. One day……..

    5. fantastic nick look forward to your next episode , like yourself i just did a solo 11 day trip to Switzerland on my bmw also camped and absolutely loved it i didn't feel alone once met loads of people on the way seen some awesome sights , thanks for sharing ive subscribed 👌
