NAIROBI TO AMSTERDAM: 5 HOURS OF EXPLORING AMSTERDAM (We Got Lost!)

It’s Winter here in the Netherlands and our very first winter by the way. We are a Kenyan expat family that moved here just recently. So, we decided to explore fun places here in Amsterdam. Unfortunately for us, we ended up missing the train, taking the wrong train and almost aborted the mission. But we finally made it after several attempts. Catch our story of tears and laughter here! So finally we are leaving my son is so excited he has no idea where we are going he doesn’t even know like I mean he has no slightest idea and I know where we are going I don’t know how we are going to get there but I have my app

My traveling app I have my Google Map and I have my Google translate so if you have those three things you can get to anywhere in the Netherlands so it’s a rainy morning and we wanted to to take an umbrella but we felt an umbrella is

Going to be a baggage so we just decided to walk and get trained on a little bit and thank God we have just arrived at the train station and my son loves it my son really enjoys train drives and it has taken me time for me to just

Master this train system so he loves sitting at the window and just looking outside he really really really enjoys and he likes opening doors when we are light and sometimes he gets frustrated when he’s not able to press the button when we arrive so yeah let’s go Street begin to feel the

Fire so yay we made it we just alll lighted from our train and this is session do direct I hope I got that right I’m still learning to pronounce these names the Dutch way so this is a small station not as big as the likes of utre and Amsterdam Central so I’m

Worried I’m not worried that I’ll get lost here so we are waiting for the next train we just waiting right here on this platform and our next train is going to hoof doop but we are going to a light at station Amsterdam R so we are going to

Be waiting here and just having some fun until that train arrived We rise like tall buildings as it can the C it take us higher the night’s young it it’s just be she puts her hand in my we want to chase the and as we are having a good time my

Son tells me he wants to use the washroom and he insists because he feels like it’s coming out so we cannot wait to use the washroom in the train so we check and we have five more minutes and we say okay let’s try and let’s hurry and you can guess what happened the

Train left Us and that is how we found ourselves on these Metro platform I had no idea that the Metro platform and the train platform are different but within the same building so we actually went to look for it outside and thankful thankfully we are here and now let’s

Just B this Metro and get to our destination already because we have had a difficult time getting it but we learning every day guys we are [Applause] learning we’re going to be two hearts running wild And you can guess we finally made it we finally made it we connected and connected and connected and here we are just having a good time as we walk to the Amsterdam winter paradise and my son is so excited I mean he’s so so excited we lay awake so

Loud as the hours pass you’re going to do it all again so yeah this is the Amsterdam winter Paradise so so we have two areas we have the inside and the outside so we are starting with the inside and then we will finish up with the outside so let’s

Just get in and yeah we will have fun come with us please will you so we are inside and the place is well lit it looks like it’s at night but it’s actually 12: p.m. so the place is massive it’s so huge and there are so

Many people there are so many people and the activities are many and from the reviews I’m told that uh there are many activities and for you to maximize you have to really take your time and go around and enjoy almost all the activities as much as you can but my son

Is hungry he say that he needs something to eat and he wanted to eat some popcorn so we are trying to look for a place that we can buy popcorns and then we can now start with the activities in here we are so Excited so our first activity is skating and here we are so we really really want to skate but unfortunately I don’t think we are going to skate because the queue is long and that is not even the main reason the main reason is that I don’t

Know how to skate And my son doesn’t know how to skate either so that is a good it’s a good challenge because now we are going to learn how to skate as long as we are here in the Netherlands we want to do this come next year or

Come yeah come the next winter we want to be good at this so we just going to watch as people skate so fun but we have to move to our next activity which is I don’t know whether this is the current soul is that it so

We queued up and now we are getting in this is our chance to enjoy ourselves and my son is excited as Usual Also he really wanted to play with snow okay this is not actual snow but it’s just some creative kind of uh stuff that look like snow but you can say it’s kind of just imitates the snow so he he’s really enjoying himself they just playing with other kids throwing around

The eye the the snowflakes kind of and he’s really really having fun [Applause] N and now we just here watching as people slide I’m very fearful of such slides but my son insists that we try I once tried a zip line and I didn’t like the experience so because he has insisted we are here for fun so let’s just go try out and see how these

Goes a heart speed to the city streets we begin to feel the fire R so what is happening here is that you wait for people to slide as you wait in the line and then when somebody gets off the wheel they give you that wheel and

Then you pull it up towards up there and then you sit on it and you slide so my son is pulling his he’s very excited he’s not even his heart is I know his heart is not beating like mine seriously as the chemicals it take us higher the night it’s

Young it it’s just bigger that she puts her hand in my we want to chase the name want to dance to the light P STS from The and of course we are hungry so myself I am just taking fries and you can’t believe that I am now taking mayonnaise on and on fries I mean and my son is just taking fries and regular ketchup so we are going to find a place to sit eat and then continue with

Exploring this a beautiful place going to we’re going to be two hearts running wild so we have got this star that my son really wanted we got him that he’s very happy to have it so now we’re just walking around just to see whether there is another activity that has a

Considerably um shorter queue for us to queue up and have fun on that you see there are many games here that I don’t know how to play my son also doesn’t know how to play so unfortunately we going to miss out on the games and maybe

We’ll just have to learn those games so that when we come back here next time we will know how to play those games because he really really wanted the games but so we ended up just taking pictures here with Santa and then we are heading out to try out the activities

Outside but here he’s kind of behaving like a strict Dad look at him he’s behaving like a strict Dad okay so we are now heading outside but first of all we stopped here I mean see this guy he is taking photos with him before we head outside

Morning and guys this place is cold it is very cold I don’t even know whether we will be able to line up on the activities outside here it’s very cold it’s freezing cold it’s Curr 6° I know 6° is not supposed to be as cold but I

Don’t know where they get the cold here at Amsterdam right I don’t know where they manufacture that cold from but it’s not the cold that is anywhere else in Amsterdam I mean it’s very cold so we are just going to walk around and see whether my son will like any activities

Then we will try that but it’s already getting late so you really have to be lucky if you’re lucky to line up on a que that is not not very long so let’s try wish us Luck laugh so loud as the hours pass we’re going to do it all again we want to chase the thing want to dance to the and now he wants this Carousel I’m actually trying to convince him that this is just like the one we had inside

But of course of course you know it’s not the same this one is outside and this one is going higher and higher and this one looks like it’s more fun but the challenge is the line is too long or the queue is too long and we’ll have to

Wait here and we’ll miss out on the roller coaster because I also want us to try the roller coaster and see Amsterdam City from uh with an aerial view so we are just going to to start queuing and see whether we can really queue I mean

Can this queue really move can we really make it my son is not he doesn’t want to understand that he just wants this Carousel and he wants it and nothing Else now after analyzing the queue and looking at how fast it’s moving and looking at the time that we had left I finally managed to convince him so that we go and line up on the roller coaster so that at least we don’t miss out on this beautiful roller coaster so

We are going to the roller coaster come with Us and here we are we made it and this is a beautiful view of a section of Amsterdam City it is so so beautiful and it is so breathtaking but Cold Now that was fun but guys I am literally freezing and on this activity that we going next I don’t even know how to call it but I know it is a series of activities it’s kind of like a challenge that you go through from the start to

Light so it feels like it’s not dark yet because it gets dark at 4:30 p.m. right now so we are going home we have had enough fun and my son is super exhausted he’s very tired and he just says he just said Mommy let’s go home you see he’s

Tired so we are heading back to the um to the train station and then hopefully we’ll not get lost again because he we have getting lost here is the order of the day taking the wrong train is the order of the day guys see how beautiful it looks from outside especially when
