Zur Miete im Landhaus: Gemütlich wohnen mit Vintage Möbeln & Nordic Style | SWR Room Tour

Mit 25 Jahren zurück aufs Dorf ziehen – das ist eher ungewöhnlich. Für Peter aber eine Herzensangelegenheit. Aufgewachsen in einem Weindorf an der Nahe hatte der junge Fotograf vom hektischen Leben in Hamburg und Frankfurt schnell genug. Durch den Job ohnehin viel unterwegs, suchte er zum Wohnen einen Rückzugsort.

Genau im richtigen Moment fand er im Netz die Anzeige seines Vermieters und heutigen Freundes Götz. Der hatte eine rheinhessische Hofanlage gekauft und saniert und suchte dafür jetzt passende Mieter. Aus heutiger Sicht würden es beide wohl als „perfect match“ bezeichnen. Beide sind Fotografen, lieben Ästhetik, den Charme charaktervoller Altbauten und ein gutes Glas Wein. So endete auch der Abend der Hausbesichtigung gemütlich. Aus der Geschäftsbeziehung ist über die Jahre längst Freundschaft und eine herzliche Nachbarschaft geworden.

Obwohl Vermieter Götz mit der Sanierung des rund 200 Jahre alten Häuschens den Grundstein gelegt hatte, war es Peter, der mit seinem gelungenen Mix aus Alltagsmöbeln, Designobjekten und individuellen Stücken dem Haus über die Jahre seinen ganz eigenen Stil gegeben hat. Vor drei Jahren ist dann auch Peters Freundin Franzi aus Hamburg zu ihm ins rheinhessische Volxheim gezogen. Damit kam noch mal ein Schwung nordischer Stil mit ins Haus; unter anderen einige skandinavische Designklassiker.

Gemeinsam haben die beiden dann auch in eine neue Küche investiert: Dabei war es ihnen wichtig, die offene Struktur des Hauses zu unterstreichen und genug Platz zum Kochen und Plaudern zu haben. Mit zwei jungen Schreinern aus Bad Kreuznach planten sie dann gemeinsam eine edle ockergelbe Küche, mit wertigen Hölzern, die toll zu den grauen alten Türrahmen passt. Kochen, Freunde treffen und es sich zuhause gemütliche machen ist dem jungen Paar extrem wichtig. Beide sind selbständig und beruflich oft unterwegs. Peter als Fotograf und Kameramann, Franzi als Model. Sie schätzen das Landleben in Volxheim, die Nähe zum Wald und den Weinbergen, lieben es mit den Fahrrädern oder Hündin Carla draußen unterwegs zu sein.

Einer ihrer Lieblingsplätze ist der Kamin. „Ich liebe es, im Winter vor dem Kamin zu sitzen. Gerade durch die Blickachse in die Küche hat das eine eigene, ganz besondere Stimmung“, schwärmt Peter.

Beide mögen alte Sachen und stöbern gerne in Vintage-Läden. „Ich mag an alten Sachen, dass es Unikate sind und dass man das nicht überall findet. Ich stelle mir bei alten Sachen auch oft vor, wie sahen die bei den Vorbesitzern aus“, erzählt Franzi. Und auch Peter findet: „Gemütlichkeit hat nichts mit Geld zu tun. Alte Stücke wie mein altes Ikea-Sofa oder Fundstücke vom Trödel oder Second-Hand-Läden machen das Haus individuell und gemütlich.“ Gerade hier auf dem Land würde man beim Sperrmüll oft fündig, erzählt Peter: „Manchmal entdeckt man hier Designklassiker, weil die Leute alte Sachen wegschmeißen, einfach weil sie denken, dass neu besser ist.“

Irgendwann wünschen sich beide mal einen eigenen Garten und Franzi einen großen Kleiderschrank, auf den sie wegen der krummen Wände aktuell verzichten muss. Doch bis dahin machen es sich die beiden in ihrem Landhäuschen einfach noch ein wenig gemütlich.

And here you can also see a small collection of coffee cups that we always collect and bring with us everywhere. Carla also has her favorite place in the house here. Well, she took the throne in the corner relatively quickly at the beginning. We are both independent. Pete is a photographer and cameraman and I am a model. That means that when we’re not on shoots, so we’re not out and about, we’re here in this room most of the day during the day. On the one hand, because the fireplace is here, and

On the other hand, because the large dining table is here. This also means that when there are visitors, we are always here. Because in the end it’s more comfortable in front of the fireplace. The stool you see here is a special stool for me. It’s actually a very inconspicuous piece of IKEA furniture. I always take it with me on shoots. I think it makes people feel good when I put them on it. I often photograph them in front of a black wall.

The women’s national team was already sitting there. Many German winemakers were already sitting there. Then always bring it home with you. Yes, it’s in our dining room. We met in a really cliche way on the job, at the shoot in Hamburg. You did the camera, I did the modeling. A year later we had our first real date. And then Pete said, come to me. Then I thought, well, he said near Frankfurt. Then we drove another 20 minutes here. And at some point I thought: Great, where am I? To be honest, I made a live location

And sent it to my best friend. Because I thought you couldn’t do that. You don’t just drive up to someone you haven’t known for very long. So, I had a good feeling otherwise I wouldn’t have gone to you. Exactly, then I came in here for the first time and thought:

I think my ex-girlfriend hasn’t been gone for that long. Because it looks so well decorated. It was just completely unusual for me that a man of that age had so much sensitivity for furnishings and decoration. That’s been four years now… No, that was even longer ago. Now you live here and you’re still here. I’ve been living here for three years. – Yes. A lot more beautiful things have come here with you. Then let’s show you the kitchen now. The kitchen was actually our first big investment together. Before that, I had pretty much had rudimentary food here since 2015… Actually, it was a similar kitchen. It was built very simply from OSB boards and was completely open. As I said, I didn’t have that much money back then.

That’s why we tried to save a few things. I found an old oven and sink in the barn . (Awakened jazz music) It actually happened that I was working in a co-working space in Bad Kreuznach and a carpenter friend of mine was sitting across from me. So I, or both of us,

Came into contact with materials, with surfaces, and also with the colors, which were all available. This shade of mustard yellow just harmonizes really well with the gray tones here in the house and creates a nice contrast. Yes, it just has a nice, clean look. I think the kitchen sums it up a bit here. The lifestyle that we have and that I have always followed is good food, good drink. You need a good coffee machine. You want to have a proper stove where you can cook nicely. You want to have decent wine glasses.

That just describes us completely, I would say. Yes. Then let’s show you our living room. The living room is actually… a nice hodgepodge of old things. This is the last thing that moved into the house, so to speak. And we shot them relatively cheaply, from someone who is passionate about restoring things like this. Everything doesn’t always have to be mega-expensive and new. I think it’s nice to know that this is now an old unique piece

That was found by a collector. And here, of course , parts of our identity can also be found in the living room . There are many photo books, photographs here. It’s a bit of a library and just a relaxation room here. The mountain lamp, I gave it to Pete for his birthday, I think, two and a half or three years ago. I built it completely myself, together with a friend. And it’s soaked MDF, so it’s made of wood. This means you can saw and glue it really easily.

And at the back there is a very small cable duct. And that’s where the LED strip is. This is one of the most beautiful gifts I have ever received. What you can also see quite well here is that you don’t really have a view from any window. Because we are in a house in a yard with a barn door in front, we are always somewhat protected. That’s what you want when you say you want to live in the country.

Then you want to have that homey feeling, that safe feeling, and I have that here. Maybe in the city or something you always have some party going on and you feel like you’re missing out. I think that’s something you learn quite well here,

That you get away from the fear of missing out a little bit. but you just live more… You do more of what you want to do. – Yes. What’s particularly great for me is that this little village… You’re completely on your own here,

But you have everything you need in the next small town. You can quickly get to the forest and enjoy great mountain biking. You can go with our dog, with Carla… You can quickly be out in the vineyards. That, in my opinion, is simply maximum quality of life. And of course Carla is enthroned there again, completely regal. Yes, it’s always… the thing I’d most like to photograph myself in the house. I’d say let’s go up, right? Let’s take a look at everything above. We’re done down here. – Let’s go then. When I went up here for the first time, I thought maybe I couldn’t move in here after all. That’s not really cool for my size. But you have to say, I’ve gotten used to it over the last eight years. Then I’ll show you the crookedest room, which is the dressing room. This room is not suitable for anything else. Unfortunately , because it’s so crooked, we can’t put up a wardrobe because the difference is too stark and it would just collapse. That’s why this temporary solution with the individual clothes rails and the individual mini closet systems, so to speak.

Yes, directly opposite the dressing room is the small but nice bathroom. This is also the only bathroom we have. So, there is no guest bathroom downstairs, there was no room for it. Of course, price really plays a big role in living today. I’m really happy that we can live in such a beautiful house here for a really good price . The house has around 100 square meters. There are 100, 110. And in total we pay ten euros per square meter here as basic rent.

So now let’s move on to the bedroom. Yes, here too, I think you have the same feeling as downstairs in the living room. Well, I think you have this very cozy, cozy, protected feeling, falling asleep here in the evening and waking up in the morning with these thick walls. I think it’s really nice that you

To watch again and again. Yes, let’s go to the cutest room in the whole house. Under the roof is my office and the guest room. This is just a very economical staircase. This is, as I said, the cutest room up here. It’s such a triangle room. When I moved here, this space wasn’t really used. There was a makeshift mattress there, which was easy for guests too. There was only this table here, but nothing else. And then I sort of set it up for myself.

Well, it’s my office. It’s particularly beautiful when it rains, when it rains down on the roof. There is sometimes this moment where we intentionally sleep upstairs because it is more comfortable here. So, the bottom line is that even though I didn’t actually choose the place, just the friend, I have to say that the house has a lot of character and that it’s full which is unique. And I think I’ve hardly been in any house so far,

That was so cozy and felt so much like home. Ultimately, it’s just a really cute house in a small, sweet Rhine-Hessian village, located in a great landscape. And yes, I think we’ll stay here for now.
