Magdeburg is a city in central Germany and the capital city of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The Elbe River flows through the city with a population of about 238,000 people. The city was heavily damaged in World War II but has been rebuilt.

Magdeburg is known in Germany for the The Green Citadel, a colorful unique building designed by architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, where we start our walking tour. We continue to the Magdeburg Cathedral, the oldest Gothic cathedral in Germany. We see a bit of the Elbe along the Schleinufer and some park.

At last return to the old town and the newer part of Magdeburg till the main train station to finish our walking tour.
