00;00;10;00 – 00;00;12;02 Antoinette We’re going to do a little shopping on Ermou street today. 00;00;12;03 – 00;00;42;01 Antoinette So come along with me. Ermou Street in Athens, Greece is a bustling and iconic shopping street known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse offerings, ranging from international brands to local boutiques and businesses.

This pedestrian friendly street connects Syntagma Square to Monastiraki square, greeting both locals and tourists with a dynamic shopping experience in the heart of Athens. As a tip, don’t forget to negotiate prices at some of the stands. 00;00;42;04 – 00;01;01;25 Antoinette But let’s see what Ermou Street has to offer on today’s journey.

00;01;01;27 – 00;01;08;10 Antoinette As we’re walking along Ermou Street. We ran into the ancient agora, which is right behind me. 00;01;08;12 – 00;01;12;25 Antoinette That entire area behind me. 00;01;12;27 – 00;01;35;28 Antoinette You can gain entrance there, too, with tickets, of course, to view the ancient marketplaces

From, you know, the antiquities all the way back. And it may be a little bit too bright, but… so we’ve got the ancient agora right behind here and a little bit further up. Of course, you have the Acropolis in the background.

There are so many places where you can view the Acropolis like it’s ridiculous. 00;01;35;29 – 00;02;00;11 Antoinette From our hotel, we had breakfast on the third floor, which is close to the rooftop, and at the window you could just see it’s just there. And every time you just look out, you’re like, Wow.

I’m in Greece! Like I am in Athens looking at the Acropolis. It’s incredible. So now we’re just going to go see what we can pick up or buy or if anything, you know, on Ermou street, anything, you want to buy in particular, hun? 00;02;00;15 – 00;02;01;15 Kevin Not really. All right.

00;02;01;15 – 00;02;30;26 Antoinette So we’re going to go browsing then. And there’s also a train station here, too. And now we’re just going to continue on our journey, guys. 00;02;30;28 – 00;02;37;01 Kevin It is hot today! 00;02;37;04 – 00;02;42;22 Antoinette There is the oldest train station and the Attica metro.

You want to get off on the Monastiraki stop. 00;02;42;22 – 00;02;56;04 Antoinette If you’re waiting for the changing of the guard in Athens and need to kill a little bit of time, just walk. What, like 2 minutes? One minute., babe? 00;02;56;07 – 00;02;56;16 Kevin Yeah, 00;02;56;23 – 00;03;02;13 Antoinette

Yeah, one minute down the street. And you are at the National Garden, which used to be a palace garden. 00;03;02;13 – 00;03;07;09 Antoinette It is gorgeous. So we’re going to take you around there and then we’re going to go back to see and catch the changing of the guard. 00;03;07;11 – 00;03;32;11 Antoinette

Established in 1839 by Queen Amalia., The National Garden is a 38 acre historic park that serves as a serene retreat in the heart of Athens. If you’re looking for a bit of peace in the midst of a busy city and a free activity in Athens, Greece, this is the place for you.

The national garden boasts hundreds of varieties of trees and vibrant flowers from all over the world, with tranquil ponds quietly tucked beside them, open from sunrise to sunset. 00;03;32;12 – 00;03;42;23 Antoinette The National garden is a must visit destination for travelers seeking a unique experience in the heart of Athens.

We were so glad we stopped to rest for a while in this beautiful park before continuing with our day. 00;03;42;25 – 00;03;46;04 Antoinette What time is it, hun? 00;03;46;07 – 00;03;46;20 Kevin It’s 4:58. 00;03;46;20 – 00;04;09;25 Antoinette 4:58. We’re 2 minutes before they do the changing of the guard.

Every hour on the hour. Definitely a crowd. So I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to see, but we’ll find a good place to stand somewhere. 00;04;09;27 – 00;04;44;23 Antoinette At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Syntagma Square, we witnessed the changing of the guard

Ceremony in Athens, Greece, a blend of military precision and cultural significance dating back to the early 20th century. The elite Evzones guards perform moves rich in symbolism from reenacting combat kicks to forcefully stomping out and rejecting 400 years of slavery.

After the ceremony, we grabbed a snack at Buffalo Gelato, where we devoured a 100% buffalo milk ice cream treat that tastes sweeter and creamier than regular ice cream and is perfect for those who are a little lactose intolerant. 00;04;44;25 – 00;05;16;17 Antoinette

After that, we strolled in a few shops in Monastiraki before heading to dinner at All That Jatz, we stuffed our faces then headed back to our hotel to rest for tomorrow’s adventure to two Greek islands. 00;05;16;20 – 00;05;25;00 Antoinette The

Next day we woke up bright and early to go on a much anticipated All-day cruise to three Greek islands: Agistri, Moni, and Aegina. 00;05;25;02 – 00;05;30;12 Antoinette This small group cruise included: a round trip van transfer from central Athens to the Port of Piraeus, 00;05;30;15 – 00;05;32;02 Antoinette Coffee, juice, water.

00;05;32;02 – 00;05;58;07 Antoinette Tea, pastries, lunch and drinks. When searching for tours, I debated booking a larger boat experience., but I am so glad we opted for this cruise. Even though our initial sailing was rebooked due to weather, our staff was professional,

Kind, friendly, spoke multiple language, and everyone had a comfortable place to relax with a view on top deck. Sailing to at least one Greek island is a must when visiting Athens, and our trip couldn’t have been any better. 00;05;58;13 – 00;06;27;14 Antoinette

So join us as we sail this all day cruise day trip from Athens together. 00;06;27;16 – 00;06;51;00 Antoinette Hello. We have made it to Agistri. It’s about a population of a thousand people. This is our first small island that we’re visiting today. And the water is absolutely gorgeous. It is crystal clear blue.

We’ve got know what? About 2 hours to explore the island. So that’s what we’re going to do. Nice. There’s places to swim and shop. 00;06;51;06 – 00;07;00;03 Antoinette Do you see how clear this water is? I mean, you can see straight through. Beautiful. 00;07;00;05 – 00;07;30;17 Antoinette

After sailing for about an hour, we reached our first island, Agistri. Agistri is a wonderful place for watersports, like windsurfing, water skiing, fishing, snorkeling and diving and also for explorative hiking, cycling and horseback riding. For us, it was the perfect low key spot to wander along the quiet, winding roads besides

Crystal clear water and soak up the beautiful sights and warm sun. 00;07;30;20 – 00;07;37;11 Antoinette Whatchu you go there? The rocks are so colorful! You’ve got a green, of course, the gray, and orange colored rocks 00;07;37;14 – 00;07;38;20 Kevin It’s my free souvenir. 00;07;38;26 – 00;08;03;15 Antoinette Rocks on a plane!

Just be careful it does not, those rocks don’t make your luggage go overweight? Yeah. He’s like, I’ll be good, I’ll be straight. Y’all, Agistri is so quiet here. This is like, the perfect place if you just want to, like, get away and just be in, like, silence and enjoy beautiful water.

00;08;03;15 – 00;08;26;06 Antoinette We touched it. It is so warm and it’s just quiet here like you can. I feel like I’m the loudest person here talking. And if you want to go on like a honeymoon or you just want to be away and go to a small

Town, enjoy some good food and just sit in like, look at that or swim in that. 00;08;26;09 – 00;08;30;13 Antoinette This is the town for you. What do you think so far, hun? 00;08;30;16 – 00;08;44;16 Kevin Good time to chill and do whatever you wanted to do. 00;08;44;18 – 00;09;06;23 Antoinette

To plan well for a day trip to any of the Greek islands, we recommend wearing light, colored, comfortable, quick drying clothes that you can easily interchange throughout the day. It helps to know the beach sand is typically made of larger rocks. So sturdy shoes are a must.

Finally, don’t forget to bring a small amount of cash for souvenirs and any additional treats on land, say about €30 per person. 00;09;06;25 – 00;09;25;01 Antoinette Also, pack your swimsuit, cover up quick dry towel, and essentials like sunscreen, flip flops, sunglasses, and a wide brimmed hat to shield yourself from the beautiful, yet

Relentless Mediterranean sun. I picked up this floppy hat while shopping on Ermou street the night before, and it was the perfect accessory to shield myself from the sun while on the water. 00;09;25;04 – 00;09;40;23 Antoinette After Agistri we stopped outside of Moni to swim.

I mean, how could you see this beautiful blue water but not want to jump in? We swam until our heart’s content, then climbed back on board for delicious, hearty, homemade Greek food buffet lunch before sailing to our next stop, Aegina. 00;09;40;25 – 00;09;56;25 Antoinette

Next stop we are in Aegina and it’s one of the other smaller Greek islands that we’re visiting today. They’re known for pistachios, so we’re going to go try to find either a pistachio mojito, pistachio ice cream, or just whatever we can with pistachios, because they come highly recommended. 00;09;57;02 – 00;10;20;27 Antoinette

Aegina is one of the most popular destinations for a day trip from Athens, as it is the closest island to Athens at only one hour away. There’s something for everyone in Aegina. Artists will love the abundance of unique crafts and photogenic sites.

Historians will enjoy seeing the ancient ruins of the first Greek capital, and foodies will enjoy extremely high quality pistachios, widely considered to be the best in the world. 00;10;21;02 – 00;10;28;10 Antoinette I mean, in all forms from liquid liquor to roasted whole.

As a foodie, let’s see if these pistachio treats are worth the hype. 00;10;28;13 – 00;10;45;20 Antoinette So it was a little bit of a madhouse over there, but it was so good. We tried, my gosh, pistachio pesto, pistachio Nutella. We’re going to try some pistachio ice cream.

We even got fresh pistachios, They’re so good! they’re so good! We went in at the pistachios store. 00;10;45;22 – 00;10;50;06 Antoinette We got a whole bag full of nuts. We got… 00;10;50;08 – 00;11;04;07 Antoinette Y’all, when we say this, pistachio butter is absolute fire. my goodness. But let’s try the ice cream.

Let’s give it a shot, Hun. Let me know what you think. First bite – how is it? 00;11;04;12 – 00;11;05;02 Kevin It was good! 00;11;05;09 – 00;11;06;05 Antoinette It’s really good? 00;11;06;08 – 00;11;06;27 Kevin Yeah. 00;11;06;29 – 00;11;10;22 Kevin I could never expect this pistachio to taste this good. 00;11;10;24 – 00;11;17;09 Antoinette

Yeah. Let me give it a shot. Let me try. It’s a little scary to see all these, like, random nuts on top, but, 00;11;17;09 – 00;11;22;08 Antoinette Let’s give it a shot. 00;11;22;10 – 00;11;23;14 Kevin Smooth, isn’t it? 00;11;23;17 – 00;11;49;20 Antoinette

It’s really smooth, but what I like about Greek food so far is that it’s got such a smooth taste. It’s not bitter, not too sweet. It’s really, like, mild and flavorful, mind you. But it’s so smooth and pistachio doesn’t slap in the face. It’s just the right amount to get the flavor.

My mouth is watering. And it’s really good that I think I’m going to finish this Hun. 00;11;49;22 – 00;11;51;14 Kevin You’ve got to share it now because, you don’t like junk food. 00;11;51;17 – 00;11;53;02 Antoinette Well, I like this! 00;11;53;05 – 00;13;27;09 Antoinette So far this is another really quiet town. So relaxing.

Lots of cool little trinkets and beads. Of course you have your souvenir shops. You cannot pass those up. And pistachio all day every day. Places where you can rent bikes and boats, buy goods, go to the market area and see what we have going on.

And exactly as always, when you travel you will meet new friends! 00;13;27;09 – 00;13;27;22 Antoinette And guess who’s 00;13;27;22 – 00;13;28;15 Antoinette birthday it is? 00;13;28;17 – 00;13;30;23 Sylvia Hi! Sylvia the Explorer! 00;13;30;23 – 00;13;33;25 Antoinette Sylvia the Explorer! Go on Instagram at… 00;13;33;27 – 00;13;36;06 Sylvia SylviaDExplorer. 00;13;36;06 – 00;13;47;11 Antoinette

Yes, check her out because we are living our life. It is her birthday. She’s out here living her best life. And yeah, so are we. So let’s continue on Aegina and have a good time, 00;13;47;17 – 00;13;48;00 Sylvia EnJoy! 00;13;48;06 – 00;13;54;29 Antoinette Thanks. Yeah.

And of course, we went for another pistachio gelato. 00;13;55;02 – 00;13;56;03 Antoinette Look at this, you 00;13;56;08 – 00;13;57;25 Kevin can see the real pistaschios. 00;13;57;27 – 00;14;27;21 Antoinette Let’s take a little trip around the boat! We’ve got a wonderful table to dine in the downstairs facilities.

And we eat water and food and on the deck plenty of places to sit. And there you have it. Watch your step. Excuse me if. 00;14;27;22 – 00;14;29;12 Kevin I know you’re supposed to. 00;14;29;14 – 00;14;35;25 Antoinette You go to Main with a glass of water. 00;14;35;28 – 00;14;36;13 Kevin It’s going to.

00;14;37;00 – 00;15;04;28 Antoinette Thank you, Nero. 00;15;05;01 – 00;15;25;14 Antoinette As the sun began to set, we sailed back to the port of Piraeus. On the way, we listened to music, chatted with our fellow shipmates, while others took a peaceful nap on the sea. I cannot recommend this trip enough.

The crew was fantastic, especially Mohammed and Pablo, the attendants who went above and beyond in ensuring everyone was well taken care of. 00;15;25;17 – 00;15;45;10 Antoinette This trip is not sponsored and opinions are all my own based off my experience that you see here.

And I love to lift up and promote excellent small businesses in the travel and tourism space. So if you want to check them out before your next trip to Athens, I’ll leave a link in the description box below.

But for now, it’s time to say goodbye to the Calypso and crew before enjoying our final night in Athens, Greece. 00;15;45;13 – 00;15;51;20 Antoinette And just like that, we are all done.on our Greek island boat cruise. 00;15;51;22 – 00;15;52;13 Antoinette Good times. 00;15;52;18 – 00;15;55;04 Kevin Womp, womp, womp, womp!

00;15;55;07 – 00;15;57;29 Antoinette Good times. Good food, good vibes. Right. 00;15;58;01 – 00;15;59;04 Sylvia That was too fast! 00;15;59;07 – 00;16;16;13 Antoinette Yeah. It was way… to me it’s too fast. But it was. I mean, we spent a whole day from, like, 9 a.m. all the way at 6:00 pm now.

And as soon as it started getting colder, we got back, which is a good thing. But the weather was absolutely perfect. 00;16;16;15 – 00;16;18;14 Antoinette It was gorgeous, right? 00;16;18;16 – 00;16;19;16 Kevin Yep. 00;16;19;19 – 00;16;41;29 Antoinette Yeah. So highly recommend. Everything was excellent from the staff. Was so friendly.

We had Mohamed and Pablo, who were our attendants and man from drinks. Everything was included, right? Drinks to food. Amazing. Amazing. So I’ll put the link in the description box down below if you want to check it out. But now, back off. Back to the hotel. 00;16;41;29 – 00;16;49;24 Antoinette

This is our last night. We’re gonna grab some food, and then we’ll be on a plane to Paris and then back home. It’s too soon. Way too soon. 00;16;49;27 – 00;17;08;17 Antoinette For our final meal we headed to Tylixto, a popular restaurant specializing in quality, affordable Greek food.

We hope you really enjoyed our Athens vlogs! Thank you so much for watching and we hope it gave you ideas to help you plan well, have fun, and travel the world to Greece. I’ll catch you the next video. Bye! Oh! and I can’t forget 00;17;08;19 – 00;17;10;02 Antoinette

Here’s what we had to eat. 00;17;10;04 – 00;17;18;21 Antoinette And a meal of pork and chicken made with pita, tzatziki, and rice. And a chicken gyro!
