Not leaving the ski slopes is an important point that the ranger is trying to get across. If the capercaillie is startled, it can mean the end for the animal. But today there is no sign of the rooster for Johannes Matt either. Great view today.

The view extends as far as the Alps to the Dachstein. It is my home. I grew up here and am a native of Weidler in the lower forest. I have been looking after the Arber region as an area manager for over three years. I’ve grown fond of it here too.

He has to realize again and again that not all skiers follow the rules here. Here we now have tracks that go right into the middle of the Auer conservation area. It’s such a rare species that’s beautiful. It is the largest forest bird in Central Europe. The capercaillie weighs over five kilos. And

It’s a shame that winter sports enthusiasts don’t think about how the wild animals are doing in winter. It’s minus ten degrees on the Arber today. At these temperatures, the capercaillie hides in snow caves and hardly moves. And then the ranger finds something. Uh! Now we have found a trace of the capercaillie.

A solution. After it snowed yesterday, it must have been overnight that the capercaillie was sitting up in the tree. And then his legacy. Where the capercaillie is now remains unclear. Its remains are evaluated in the laboratory and possibly assigned to an animal that has already been recorded.
