But I found my log and I just wanted to do some tank tops I just couldn’t see myself ever feel bit dramatic okay but I couldn’t see myself ever wanting to knit jumpers ever again I was like no that’s it I just all I
Want to knit for the rest of my life now is T Tops I can’t handle another jumper absolutely not hi my name is Sean and this is handmade here here is everything I knit in 2023 and when I say everything I knit in 2023 there are still some whips that I’m
Not going to include here um I’ve actually realized that all my fos are actual full like tops like garments I actually didn’t finish I don’t think a single accessory I’ve got one Mitten without the thumb so just like one Mitten I did finish a headband but I
Don’t like it so I’m going to frog it and Rit it so I wasn’t going to show it here um I also have one sock I have another sock well the second pair of socks I actually have two socks for but the’re the socks are lottle socks I’ll
Put the pattern somewhere and um so the socks that look like axelos and you also need you need to knit eight legs for the socks and I think I’ve knit four legs so literally all I need to do is knit the four legs and I’m done but basically
This is this is me getting the excuses in early because um yeah I I was expecting to have a bit more finished and expecting to have some accessories finished because I had to do work on them I just don’t seem to have finish any but that’s okay that’s that’s how it
Goes so um I just want to quickly mention my lovely boy Charlie um you might be wondering yes he has got his back shaved and and uh he was very ill a few weeks ago and had an operation but he’s doing absolutely fine now so um I
Just wanted to mention it in case anybody noticed it and was worried about him he’s liing his feet right now come on B it good boy um but yeah okay so actually we’ll start with what I’m wearing now this is sort of my first and sort of my last finished object of the
Year now you might wonder how it can be both basically if you watched my first podcast you’ll know that I was working on this last year the end of last year and the start of this year and it took I it took me six months to net I do
Absolutely love it and it was well worth it but it took a long time to knit and then I finished it I blocked it I and everything’s all seamed up it’s a um Victorian p pattern it’s the butter 1987 cycling sweater um and it’s Victorian so everything was knit
Flat and seamed together so that takes time and the whole thing is rib one by one rib and as I um I’m an English Knitter not a continental Knitter so you know every stitch for knit and pearl I’m coming to also switch the um yarn from the front and the back between every
Stitch so it was a real slog it took a long long long time but I do love it it is one of my favorite things I’ve ever met I used 100% Marino I’ll put the yarn on the screen the exact yarn I used I bought it is what I will say it is
Lovely it is peling but it’s Marino so that’s to be expected I picked Marino um partly because it would be warm and it is you can see there’s a lot of fabric here and it’s really heavy because there’s so much fabric with it all being
A rib um and it is it’s very warm which is good it means I can’t really wear it for that many months of the year maybe for only a few months of the year but that’s absolutely fine um I don’t mind not wearing it too much I didn’t make it
To wear every single day although I have worn it quite a few times since I finished it I had to completely redo the neck I’m going to mention that in my next podcast though so I won’t really talk about it too much now but basically the neck was
Far too big far too wide so I ended up having to re oh one is coming done ended up having to redo it and I have one problem that sorry give me a sec I have one problem with it still that I do want to
Fix and that’s the um can you see the arms eye are still drooping off a bit and I was mentioning in my first podcast this was a problem I had with it along with the gaping neck and I was hoping that decreasing the stitches and bringing the turtleneck in would help
And I do think it has helped to some extent but this is not a very wide strip of fabric I’ve measured it because I I’m going to sew in some twill tape to stabilize it and to keep the shoulder up but yeah so this is 6 cm I need and
It’s not a very wide bit of fabric for what is a a lot of heavy wool basically so I’m not surprised it’s stretching out so I will be um sewing in twill tape I’ve got some twill tape that I think should help I’ll just sew I’ll sew it to the B button
Band so I’ve got the button holes on like the front bit and the actual buttons are sewn into the back so the front and the back of this are identical um and so I’ll sew the ribbon or the tape sorry to the button band um for the
Back bit if that makes sense so it won’t be on the top layer it won’t be so visible hopefully I won’t need to sew any to the front I don’t see where I would but I don’t think the the turtle neck is stretching out a little bit as
Well but I have a feeling that’s also just due to the weight of the Garment itself hopefully the Twill tape will fix it because so what the way you’re meant to wear it is you’re meant to wear this as a turtleneck and then fold or like a
Folded down turtleneck so I can’t easily put twill tape on the turtle neck itself because sometimes I have been wearing it folded down but because it’s not that big it also just flips up sometimes and I don’t mind that I don’t mind just having it like flipped up it’s not I’m
Not extending the length to um fix that as a problem that’s not really a problem for me so uh yeah it’s worth considering and it’s worth thinking about but I will go into more detail as I said in my next podcast about how I did this and about the
Buttons and how I’ve altered the buttons in the turtleneck itself a little bit so that it’s a bit more practical but to summarize this is one of my favorite items I’ve met I absolutely love the massive sleeves of the 1890s um those like big leg of mutton sleeves
They’re just’re so good they’re fabulous they’re just so much in the best way possible and I’m really pleased I love it oh and um the other major issue I have with the fit it rides up a little bit I think I should have knitted it a
Bit longer in the body uh I don’t know where I went wrong there I think maybe when I was measuring it against myself I wasn’t taking into account not the I’m the Most Blessed individual but I do have something here The the old chest area and of course that will
Decrease the height won’t it because it will be like coming out and down rather than like straight flat I just wonder if that’s what caused it because it fit absolutely fine before I sewed it up when it was all flat when I was holding it against my body when I say it fit
Fine it wasn’t wearing it but when I was holding it against my body it looked like it was the the length was absolutely fine and with blocking it should have got bigger a notot smaller um so I think that’s what happened there but it’s not too bad I can just pull it
Down the main issue I have is the size so this being a Victorian garment is meant to be worn with a corset and of course you had a very different like waist to hip to bust ratio um in the Victorian era you’d have your corsets
But you’d also pad out so it’s a meth that cset W tight and uncomfortable um it’s actually the opposite with a comfortable supportive garment but you obviously have to get used to wearing them it’s not like if you started wearing a corset all day every day you’d be absolutely fine it is
Something you need to get used to but uh the way you’d get that hourglass like shape rather than tight lacing and bringing your course in is you’d pad the rest of it out so you’d have padding at the bust and the hips to make you appear bigger than you actually are sorry just
A second um oh sorry I’ve got a sore throat to make you appear bigger than you actually are and so that is why this is going out so much down here because it’s looking at a Victorian figure and someone who would have been padding out their hips and I if with a modern
Silhouette don’t do that um I do kind of I did kind of expect this when I started knitting I was like oh this is quite a severe decrease but I was kind of hoping with the rib that the um the top would be tight enough that you wouldn’t really
Notice it if you get what I mean there’d be enough negative ease that you just kind of like expand like it would just like expand enough that you wouldn’t really notice but there’s clearly not as much then there should be negativ with this pattern I can’t remember off the
Top of my head how much but I think a few inches um but that’s not what’s happened it’s too big it’s the end of the world I don’t really think anyone notices it except for me but it is a little bit annoying however if I do ever decide to wear this with a
Coret um it’ll look good then so it’s not all bad but yeah this is my first finished object of the Year slash my last finished object of the year the bulk of it the first finished object but finishing off the turtleneck I made it the last finished object of the year so
My next finished object is I’m pretty sure my all-time favorite thing I’ve ever knit I absolutely love it I’m sorry I don’t exactly remember the name off the top of my head I can’t look it up on my phone because I’m filming with my phone but I think it’s
The zosia I’ll put the name up wrap top and it’s absolutely beautiful I made this with one strand of it’s like M hair but it’s not it’s a cashmir um it’s a Rowan yarn it’s a Kashmir alpaca silk blend it’s more than if if IID bought it
Full price it’s more than I would have paid for yarn particularly is the only Mohan I’ve ever used and never knit up with is the Hobie Diablo moha because it’s just so cheap and I only ever buy that on offer but this was on clearance uh um wool Warehouse so I ended up
Buying it and using this and it is is lovely it’s so soft and it is different to mohir the um fiber length isn’t as long as a mohare is I actually have a top in here this is mohare and yeah I can see I might try and take a photo but
I can see that the fiber length is a lot longer for mohir um and a lot less kind of like Curly and a lot thicker well not a lot thicker but a bit thicker than what I assume is the cashmir I think the kmir is quite a
Light quite a um thin diameter of well but it is absolutely beautiful and stunning this top it was a bit of a SLO because it’s a ramp top so you end up knitting like twice as much on the front in some areas of the front and I saw
Some people didn’t add the lace pattern on the sleeves I did I’m really glad I did I just absolutely love it um but yeah anyway sorry as I was saying so I knit the I knit the body and then I knit the sleeves and then I was like oh my God
I’m nearly done this is so exciting and then I started on the waistband and the waistband is long and I didn’t even do the longest length because I knew I wasn’t going to tie in a bow I was just going to like tie it in a knot and leave
It I think a bow would be a bit big I don’t know anyway so I didn’t do I the longest sleeve length I also altered the pattern for the um waistband I’ve got I’m quite sure and I’m think I’m short-waisted I’m pretty sure I’m short-waisted haven’t got the like
Longest torso so initially I was like oh well I’ll do the wide waistband cuz the lace is so pretty and I cast that on and I started knitting it and I was like no this is ridiculous this is way too big for me um it’s going to look it’s not
Going to suit me at all so then I cast on the smaller one and that was still too big so what I ended up doing was taking the smaller one and altering the pattern I’ve got the problem is I mean this was beautifully blocked out but
Obviously I’ve I’ve worn this a lot over the summer it’s not really something I can wear in the middle of winter now but I have worn this a lot so it’s um natur your waistband is crumpled up so you can’t really see it very well maybe I’ll
Try and take some pictures but yeah so I ended up making it even thinner than it said in the pattern just by cutting out so you’ve got edging like that you knit along with it um either side to like finish the edges I kept that the same
And I kept the central like lace Motif um the same and I just shortened either side of it so there wouldn’t be quite so much and I’m really really pleased with the way it turned out I wore this so much over the summer it’s very packable
In a bag it really packs up small it’s incredibly light it weighs hardly anything um because the stitches are all so open because it’s just one strand of this like MO her like um lace weight yarn and I actually wore it on my wedding day I I made my own I got
Married earlier on this year in the summer and I made my own wedding dress and in the evening it got a bit chilly so I ended up bringing this with me and putting this on and I just absolutely love it what I will say is it grew a lot with blocking
And I did do a gauge swatch um but I just did a stockinet gauge Swatch I’m pretty just so just yeah the stockinet like on the back I’m pretty sure I don’t remember exactly because I did this earlier on in the year but I’m pretty sure I did not do a gauge Swatch
With the lace in fact I’m almost certain I didn’t so I was surprised by quite how much the lace blocked out this wasn’t my first knitting pattern using lace and I did know that lace stretched but I’d never done any knitting where it was like kind of a lot more of
It was lace if you get what I mean so for instance yeah the sleeves are like all lace I mean yeah okay there’s some like stucking that sections between the lace but basically the whole of the sleeve is lace and then the whole of the front is
Lace as I said yeah I do appreciate there’s like some stocking up between it but I still count it as like a all lace like everything was charted for the front and for the sleeves um so I didn’t realize quite how much it would grow luckily it being a wrap top
It doesn’t really matter because I can just tie it tighter or also it’s such a like Airy light delicate feminine top that even if it is a bit loose and a bit baggy you does doesn’t really matter again it just kind of like goes with the
Look so that was not an issue at all that was absolutely fine um the only issue I have with the fit of it is the length of the sleeves now this never happens to me I always have the opposite problem but these sleeves are too long
They got so long with blocking I was expecting the width to increase because of the lace I wasn’t expecting the length to increase quite so much and it didn’t seem to make that much of a difference with the body or if it did I knitted it too short in the body and it
Turned out absolutely fine but it really made a difference with the sleeves these sleeves are really long they are like falling off my hands when I wear it sometimes but as I said it’s just like it kind of like goes I think with the whole like cuz they’re like big sleeves
Anyway it’s not tight or anything so it just it looks fine it’s just a little bit annoying I guess if you’re eating you don’t want to have your sleeves falling into your food um one other thing I did do some bust decreasing so you can do a little bit of
Decreasing it’s optional at the front um for the bust before you attach the waistband and I did that and to be honest that completely blocked out you can’t really see that at all I there are two so you either don’t do any decreasing or you do decreasing for a
Smaller Bust or decreasing for a bigger bust I did the decreasing for the smaller bust and yeah you basically can’t even really see it that’s not a big issue for me because I don’t have a particular big bust if you do have a larger bust then you’ll be decreasing more stitches so
That might not be an issue anyway it might solve the problem um but yeah this is my wrap top and my favorite thing I knit this year and probably I’ve ever knit to be honest and I thought this was going to be my favorite thing I’ve ever did I love this I love
A bit of History bounding and but no it was the wrap top I basically got sick of knitting um larger garments and I got sick of sleeves it was the mixture of this and the wrap top they were both quite slowo Nets like the wrap top is
Apart from the back um the wrap top is all lace and obviously yeah with the wrap and everything it does make extra knitting and this was a real slog there is so much knitting to make this top and I know that I’m not a very fast Knitter and other people could have knitted
These items quicker than me but I found my log and I just wanted to do some tank tops I just couldn’t see myself ever little bit dramatic okay but I couldn’t see myself ever wanting to knit jumpers ever again I was like no that’s it I just all I
Want to knit for the rest of my life now is tank tops I can’t handle another jumper absolutely not I went on Etsy and I bought this fade or gradient whatever you want to call it set um and it was called watermelon sugar Um call me uh Millennial but um I actually didn’t know it was a song by Harry Styles I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a Harry Styles song so um I was like oh what man of sugar that’s an interesting name and then um realized it was a song
So there you go anyway yeah so it’s a Marino Yak mix and it’s lovely and it gives it a much more of a depth of color actually um because um the seller as yet Yarns was also offering this with just a Marino base or possibly it was Mar nylon
Sorry I’m not entirely sure but anyway yeah as um and this I just thought was much nicer because it just made the colors so much deeper and richer um this isn’t the only Yak uh this isn’t the only yarn with Yak I actually knit with over the summer I just really love the
Way it looks in yarn and the way it deepens whatever colors you’re using it’s beautiful um so this pattern is the outline tank and I love it I’m going to knit this again next year and I’ve never renit a pattern but I definitely want to renit this also not knit a garment so
Admittedly it’s only a tank top but it is a garment out of fingering weight yarn the only thing I’d knit was a pair of socks so I was a little hesitant to begin with because I was worried it was going to take a long time I mean I knew
That you had like the v-neck so that you’d not really have much like yolk to knit and you wouldn’t have sleeves so but on the smaller needles I was worried it was just going to take a lot of time but this knit up quick this only took me
About a month to knit and it was a really fun knit and it really like having the different colors and the fade set really kept me going cuz I wanted to you know finish up one color and start the next color and then finish that up
And start the next one and I think that really um that really really helped and gave me a push what I will say is with the colors um I didn’t have quite enough for the striping to be exactly the same widths on the front and the back so so and also
The bottom color the strip for that is a bit smaller CU you’ve got half Twisted rib along here and that obviously takes up more yarn than stocking it so the bottom color is a little um the stripe for that is a little smaller which is absolutely fine but basically it goes
Higher on the front than the back so you can see that and that’s basically because I wanted to try and keep the stripes as even as possible and I didn’t have enough yarn to because I only had 20 grams of each color to have the stripe the exact same um height on the
Front and the back so I decided to have it lower on the back the side that you don’t see as often or I won’t see as often at least and then make up for that with more of this color um the penultimate color in the top and then
You just have a tiny little bit at the top of the last color it is a bit of a shame really it kind of feels like there should be more of it but but I don’t know that’s just how it worked out in the pattern uh this pattern I do really like
This is the outline tank and it’s a really clever um pattern you knit it up and then you dro the stitches to create the kind of like ladders on it I did have some problems with the pattern and I think this was a me issue I don’t
Think this was a pattern issue cuz at one point I do remember my Stitch count being on off and me just thinking I’m sure it’ll be fine no need to go back and try and fix it and it wasn’t fine because then when I went to go and drop the
Stitches um you do something at the bottom I can’t remember what it is a knit two together or a yarn over or something like that so that when you drop the stitches they stop here and they don’t end up going into the ribbing and that lined up for most of them but
For a couple of them it didn’t line up so I had to um tie off those stitches in I did something in the back I can’t remember I think I can kind of see it here basically I just tied off the stitches so they wouldn’t it wouldn’t
Keep unraveling into the rib itself but um that’s not a criticism of the pattern as I said it’s a criticism of me I will make this top again uh I’ve never Reit anything but I absolutely love the design it’s just so like simple but interesting the same time so I feel like
It could work with like pretty much any yarn because it’s simple enough that you could go for quite a wacky yarn but also if you did want to have a simple yarn it’s got these interesting little details that mean that it’s still quite an interesting that it’s not
Just a completely plain top which is nice to have as well but sometimes you do want something with a little bit more like interest to it so yeah and I absolutely love this top the only thing is I wish I’d KN it a little bit longer but there you go there’s not
Really anything I can do about it now I am not going to extend it because that would involve ripping out because of the stripes so much of the yarn and it’s all it’s not going to basically it’s not going to work also I had to put this
Through it is Super Wash or the Marino in it is Super Wash at least sorry I’m just pulling out some chilly hairs my cat my cat’s got hairs in here um I did have to put this for the washing machine because uh it got really dirty um at one point
And it’s not felted up or anything CU it was super washed but it was really grubby so I really wanted to like properly clean it and I put it on a delicate cycle but you can kind of see I don’t know it kind of like looks a
Little bit like it’s been for the washing machine but that’s not like a bad thing I don’t mean that in a bad way I just mean that in a kind of like I don’t really even know what I mean I think I just kind of mean like the
Fluffiness and it’s not a particularly fluffy yarn but you know what I mean it’s just got that look I don’t know if you know you know and if you don’t sorry I don’t know but that’s how it is anyway so that was my first tank top of the year I was
Going to say of the summer but I’m pretty sure that was in the spring and my second tank top again is a bit shorter than I would have liked this is a theme for my tank tops I after finishing this one I was like okay well
I’ll make my next tank top a little bit longer and that’ll be fine but um no I made it exactly the same length which is fine and I can still wear them but I am also very aware that I’m in my mid 30s and I won’t be wearing cropped tanks forever
Um they I won’t always feel like it’s an appropriate thing for me to wear and it would have been nice to it would have been nice to have something that I know I would be able to wear in the next 10 years rather than just the next few years but that’s fine
It’s not the end of the world and when I no longer feel like I’m able to wear them because they feel a little short for me I can just give them to someone else and it’s only two tank tops it’s not the end of the world I will miss
This one though cuz the yarn I love the yarn for this one this is a Marino Yak silk blend I’ll put the name of the yarn and the dyer up here the basically I saw this um pattern and I knew it’s the oak tank um and I knew that I really wanted
To knit it and I was uh the Wonder W yarn Festival um earlier on in the year and I saw this um colorway and I just absolutely loved it I just and I thought it was perfect for this top so I bought a ske of it knowing exactly what I was
Going to do I was going to knit this top with it and it does have a beautiful drape I don’t know if you can really see that this one I am sort of tempted to add length to somehow cuz obviously I do still have oh I haven’t
Weaved in the yarn ends that’s not like me I’m normally quite good at that oh I weaved in the yarn ends on one side and not the other uh right well I guess I’ll do that later then oh sorry got distracted anyway I am
Kind of a bit tempted to add a bit of length to this because I still have some of this yarn left I don’t remember off the top of my head how much but I have enough that I could extend it I saw um Natalie from nitty naty do a um top
This summer and she ended up like cutting across the top and I can’t remember whether she added or took length away but she ended up altering the length of the top that way I obviously couldn’t cut into the bottom so this is a bottom up net and you start
With the uh lace at the bottom and then you work your way up actually the outline tank is also a bottom up net but anyway yeah so you start with a lace at the bottom and then you work your way up and you’ve got in between the stocking that to make it a
Bit more interesting and break it up you’ve got these slip stitches with um Pearl Pearl bumps either side of them which I really like that’s one of the things I really liked about this top I really liked the lace at the bottom but I really liked that it it kind of like
Carried on subtly up through the top but in such a way that it would almost feel like knitting stock AET it just wasn’t quite it was just a bit different to stock a net if that makes sense um but yeah I’m in two minds about this one because I do absolutely love it
But I do want it to be longer I just don’t want to ruin it especially as these are Slip stitches going up the whole thing I don’t know I’m really going to have to think about about that um if anyone’s got any advice please let me know uh
Please do say what you recommend because also there is pooling because I didn’t um end up like doing helical knitting or anything I didn’t want to to be honest because of the lace at the bottom I thought it would be better if the color if the color did pull like it
Wouldn’t affect the lace as much I don’t know if that’s true I mean it worked quite well for the lace at the bottom it’s only really like two of the oak leaves that are a different color but I think that’s absolutely fine um but yeah I don’t know I don’t know how I
Feel about it when it comes to the length apart from that I absolutely love this and this is my favorite tank top I made this summer um it is beautiful and stunning and I will wear it I just I’m considering extending the length so I can wear it for longer but
Yeah let me know if you’ve ever tried that and if it works well I don’t mind if it does affect the pooling of the color to be quite honest because it’s not very consistent throughout the top um for instance the pools differently at the bottom here compared to here
Compared to here compared to this the actual like straps so it’s not the end of the the world if that’s the case but yeah that’s my outline tank and so my next top I’ve actually had on my P podcast my first podcast this is the Tie
Tank and um again it’s hand dyed yarn uh squeal from Debon now put the details on the screen and it’s quite a plain stockin at top it’s really interesting it looks I actually really like the way it looks on I quite like a low back um I just think it’s nice it’s
Like it’s like showing a bit of skin but not not in a way where I feel self-conscious if you get what I mean um I really like this and I have now blocked it I think in the first podcast I hadn’t blocked it so it’s nice and drapey and lovely
And I do feel like I was a bit harsh about this in the first podcast I think I was just a bit bored of tank tops and a bit sick of tank tops and I did this more because I wanted to just try and use up some yarn that I bought and I
Felt like I should try and squeeze one more tank top into the summer rather than because I really wanted to knit this tank top at that time and I am really glad I knit it though I do love it and I do think I’ll get a lot of wear out of it next
Year um I’m not entirely sure though when I’m going to wear it because obviously it’s not really work appropriate with such a low back but I’ll figure it out you know I’ll make it work and the yarn I did end up alternating um so there isn’t pooling
With this one cuz well I didn’t have different SKS so when I say I alternate I ended up alternating skain I was knitting from the center of the ball and from the outside of the Bold um so that’s how I was like alternating I was using both of the yarn ends
Um so I alternated like that and I think that worked much better for this one I probably should maybe I should have done that for the last top but never mind too late now and I do like the raw the edges are just left raw so they kind of curl
In but because considering it’s such a simple style top because it is just pure like stocking it and there’s nothing else on it I think it works quite well um um particularly this the strap ended up curling in a lot um after blocking and with some use and
With some wear but I actually really like the way it looks it kind of looks I guess a bit more like I cordish but it’s not an iord I was going to say it was quicker than knitting an iord but I don’t know I’ve never knit an iord
This thick before so maybe it is maybe it isn’t it was pretty quick to it you know um the actual straps themselves but I do really like it it’s not my favorite tank top though my favorite one is still the Oakleaf one followed by the outline one but we’ll
See how much wear I get out of it next year hopefully I end up getting a lot of wear out of it as I said I can’t wear it to work because of the low back and I can wear the other tank tops to work particularly if I’ve got like
Something high-waisted or like something underneath them so I do think I’ll get more wear out of them but this yarn is stunning it is really beautiful and I am really glad that I did knit this in the end got one more finished object and one honorable mention and when I say
Honorable mention it is blocking now so it is nearly finished so I’ve done the bulk of the knitting for the scarf and then I will have to do some duplicate stitching to finish off the pattern on the scarf and then sew a line into the
Back of it so it will be finished before the end of the year just wasn’t finished in time for me to film this video but this I have talked about in my first podcast and my second podcast I don’t know if I’ve put the second podcast out
Yet but if I haven’t it will be coming out soon oh God it smells so good and this is my top um Fields of Gold by Isabella Clark using ntin yarn in the color Ora uh which is the Swedish word for wish my husband informs
Me so yes I still love this top it is really beautiful and I wonder and really like rustic and I think The Rustic yarn works with The Rustic pattern it’s still itchy though I can’t get away from the fact that this yarn is just too itchy to wear against skin
And I do have to wear something underneath it it’s not the end of the world um but even when I wear something underneath it I can still like if I’m just wearing like a thin layer underneath it I can still feel it like scratching between me like it’s the
Scratchiness still goes through the fabric if if that makes sense um I haven’t really because I’ve already spoken about this I haven’t really got that much to add there’s something I will add that forgot to mention in the podcast and I wish I had is the color in
This yarn ran a lot when I was blocking it so I ended up blocking this with this um tie tank just because I hadn’t blocked this yet and I was like well I’m I’m already getting all the blocking stuff out I might as well block them at
The same time and I’ve blocked clothes at the same time before and I’ve never had yarn run um yarn colors run um but yeah this started running running so luckily I noticed really quickly and I took this out and I rinsed it off and it was absolutely fine but considering I
Was a bit surprised and like it’s not a bad thing because I should have washed it individually and it’s like it’s like a hand dyed yarn so I should have expected it but I just because there isn’t there isn’t that much color in the yarn and it
Was quite a like red in the water so it must be like the redder color in it but I guess there’s enough to cause it to run but it didn’t affect the color of the finished garment like there are other colors in this yarn there’s
Yellows and a bit of purple and a bit of green in here as well as obviously the natural color of the sheep um and all of these still look just as nice to be honest I wouldn’t have known that the color had run it’s not like it affected
The other colors in any way I just only know because I saw the water was pink but that’s something to keep in mind for the future if you get new to Yarns maybe try washing them separately to see it might just be this color way um might
Just be a oneoff but possibly worth checking just in case and I’ll check in the future though to be honest I’m not sure how much I’m going to use this yarn again I’ve got a load of it left from this um top it didn’t use as much as I was expecting
But it’s so itchy it’s so nice though if it wasn’t itchy it I could see how it would be one of my favorite Yarns but because it is itchy I don’t really know what to do with it I don’t know whether to I want to say Sal it but I don’t
Know I need to think about it I really need to think about it but anyway I do I love the pattern um I’ve gone over all the problems I had with the pattern the yarn and everything when I say the problems I had or the pattern like problems were me they Wen the
Pattern but the any issues I had when knitting this I’ve gone through in my first two podcasts so I won’t just like reiterate all of that here but yeah this is a lovely lovely pattern um I definitely want to try Isabella Clark’s patterns again I thought it was well
Written I also particularly liked the construction and I liked that there were quite nice like finishing it feels like it’s nicely finished if you get what I mean it doesn’t feel like you’ve just gone for the easiest like most basic way of finishing I don’t know a sleeve or
Like yeah casting off or casting on or like finishing the edging or anything like that it feels like she’s put a lot of thought into exactly what would be the best technique for it and gone with that and I definitely want to try more of her patterns in the future and I
Follow her podcast and I know that she’s releasing quite a few patterns at the moment and also has quite a few in the works so I definitely will be knitting something from her again thank you very much for listening um we’ managed to put Charlie to sleep Charlie’s bored of hearing me talk
About knitting um who can blame him I will be releasing my second knitting podcast if I haven’t already very soon um I actually filmed it like maybe a month ago or so so I’m already planning on doing my third one in the next few days so keep an eye out for those if
That’s something you’re interested in and thank you so much for sitting with me and listening to the things that I’ve made um I really hope that you enjoyed it I appreciate that I I haven’t knitted that much I’ve only got six finished garments over the past year and the
Previous year I only finished three garments so I’m not a very fast Knitter but I do really enjoy it and it is something that I do want to be able to talk about and make more friends that do knit because I don’t know that many people that do knitting and sewing
And so it would be great to make friends and talk to you all so please let me know what your favorite finished object of the year is mine is definitely my WRA my wrap top I absolutely love that and I love that I wore it to my wedding and I
Love that it’s so lightweight and packable that I would just put it in my bag in the summer thank you very much for watching and I’ll hopefully see you in my next podcast thank you bye here sorry my cat’s got the weirdest expression on her face
You’re right pet peps I don’t even know this makes sense I feel like I’m just rambling to be quite honest I might just restart this whole section give me a minute I’m going to restart oh I’ve just realized that the yarn end is sticking out of
This I’m might quickly trim that oh he’s asleep oh oh you’ve got some yarn grub on you you grubby you cing in your fluff so yeah and I have one more finished object sorry I’ll just take that and have a little bit of yarn
