To break it down for you before you pick the ship over the Ohio if you like German battleships you’re used to Big tanky things bristling with guns and anhalt is really no different take a look at that HP pool it’s big and beautiful 69,000 Health fifth best at
The tier of these 30 battleships up here that’s great the heels they’re nothing special but of course you can run Master Mechanic and get five of them to keep you in the fight torpedo reduction it’s a typical German 20% and the armor scheme is pretty decent the highlights of course 50 mimet
Deck and a much smaller super structure than other German battleships I mean look at this thing compared to bismar City skyline New York looking superstructure it’s crazy to me how tpet and bismar can be some of the tankiest battleships at tier 7 and they would be if not for their massive super
Structures anyways the bad parts their tur back armor scheme on anhalt is actually pretty weak it’s not going to stop many Battleship rounds from pinning you so if you go broadside you’re going to get rocked it’s not the same as tpet and bismar or risho or some of the other
Ships at the tier if you’re brawling and you go broadside this is not going to stop those rounds from getting to your Citadel her guns they get knocked pretty easily and that’s fine I guess because you have so many more right well you’re going to want all of these guns because
They’re really really super medium medre they’re basically like tier five Battleship guns and past short distances they’re not going to pin much armor most broadside battleships are just going to laugh at you as you shoot them so it might be best to aim for the upper belt
As if you were a cruiser to get any sort of damage on paper you have 15 guns that reload in 30 seconds to the DPM looks pretty good higher than the Nerf Kansas higher than the monarch but after a few match is in this thing the reality is
Going to set in very fast this AP is terrible what it is good at though is shooting Cruisers so if you can ever catch one out in the open that is going to be your target of choice not the heavily armored battleships just because your guns won’t be up to the task now
For the secondaries they have a great stock range up there with bismar black brandenberg and zeton at 6.8 km stuck unfortunately though you got to read between the lines because there just isn’t enough secondaries on the ship to be worth it you have eight 150 mm guns
12 105s compare that to bismar 12 150 mm guns and 16 105 UNH halts secondary DPM just isn’t there you’re not going to deal enough damage so it may seem like a good idea to spec this thing full secondaries in brawling but really it’s
A waste on the UN now you do have sonar really good Zan sonar by the way 5.6 km and it lasts almost 2 minutes it’s a great deterrent for destroyers and really helpful to use you know the poor bismar still has that 4.4 km sonar that’s just not that great so it’s a
High point of anhalt and you also have these wild Point defense Torpedoes they’re like British battle cruiser torps they’re huge they deal massive amounts of damage 25,600 per torpin check out out the firing angles as well they’re pretty crazy you can fire them basically straight out of the front of the ship
The drawbacks though of course are that these Torpedoes are slow and since they’re so huge they can be spotted from far away enemies have a lot of time to react and try to dodge them they reload in 55 seconds though so if you’re in a brawl these things are pretty useful and
Enemy battleships will have to be careful cuz these can deal a ton of damage even if they hit right on the torp Belt move moving on you have mediocre not that great anti-air but worse you’re super slow and sluggish 26.5 knots makes you about as slow as Kansas and atlantico to make matters
Worse your turning circle is about as bad as Iowa a huge 900 M and the rudder shift really isn’t that fast so this is a big clunky Battleship and did I mention big here’s the zon here’s the brandenberg tpet and bismar anhalt is bigger than all of them she is a giant
Target also concealment 15.3 km stock isn’t that great it’s pretty average so I don’t think this description of you know being concealed or hidden is actually accurate I never look at these pages on these ships and I definitely wouldn’t trust them you know don’t look into that if you’re buying a ship but

Standalone tier 7 Premium that’s right normally 70 bucks here’s how you do it it currently costs 12,500 ice crowns as part of the winter update you can purchase the admiralty backing for the campaign of of Brisbane for 2500 deons or $10 and that will net you 9,000 ice crowns once you complete
The campaign there is a gift in the store you can open that will give you another 500 ice crowns and finally by completing every day on the Advent calendar you’ll get another 3,000 ice crowns and there you have it 12,500 crowns and anhalt and brisman for 10
Bucks just knowe that in my opinion almost every other or every other tier 7 German battleship is better still though anhalt is an interesting and unique ship and having 15 shells flying through the air is kind of fun I’ll admit if you’re willing to Fork out a little extra money

I’m no expert but I feel like you missed the potential of this ship. So far I’ve gone into fire rate and secondaries and if you park yourself with the rear of the ship facing the enemy you can swap between he and ap to hit the right target for massive chunks while taking minimal damage. The sonar allows you to get close enough to make use of the extreme secondary range to maybe set a few more fires. Definitely not to everyone’s playstile but I absolutely adore the ship and like the review

Great review, wasn't sure how she/he would perform but think I'll miss this one. Bad rudder+ turning aspect+ turret speed plus 350mm at Tier 7 and 8 seems MEH at ranges. HE seems like you're friend 😂
Ah, the Anhalt. God it's ugly.
Effective though.
HE at everything but cruisers, use Hipper myself. But with Flammable Cannonier and Marksmanship.
Use Cunningham for grouping and Madden for traverse and reload.
I don't like it, but I do well in it.
So it's a bit of a "Huh?" Ship for me. 😁👍

I tend to play tier 7 and just about 8, but legend has it that I can only get through with AI, which is why I only had the clue. Actually, that would be enough for me if I wasn't such a big Messi – so I bought Ohio!

If the best part of this ship is it's low cost… That's not saying much. I e seen a few of these in matches already and they are quite fun to shoot at, esp if you are in a smaller and faster ship. Super easy ship to burn down with a dpm cruiser, if they don't have any support from their team. I see Anhalt being more like the Anchorage. On the meh side of OK playing solo, but with spotting and support from a division, a decent ship.

Also WG needs to fix italian bb reloads. 31 seconds on a 15 inch is outrageous. It's slower than 16 17 and 18 inch guns and 8 to10 seconds slower than all other 15 inch guns in game.

Her guns o' plenty makes her an insanely consistent he ship. Along with all the money you get with ribbons, she's definitely great for anyone who doesn't have all the commanders/the good ones maxed out.
But ofc it comes down to is she good? Or is HE in warships "balanced" lol.
I don't always have premium time so legendary is a no go for me, so im excited to get her. Shes my campaign ship this update
Great review, Derka. I was leaning towards Ohio and after this I see what the clear choice is. I imagine Anhalt will be stuffed into next year's Santa crates and easily pullable. Maybe even a future GXP or steel ship. Ohio on the other hand, who knows when they would re-release something like that.

nice vid derka and anhalt is a hard pass for me i rented it and didnt care for it to many negetive parts about the ship unless it gets buffed but im gonna get ohio for sure that will be a fun ship with AL NJ commander and arthis im sure it will be a blast as you saw in my georgia short with only 6 shells so ohio with 8 in theroy should be insane next stop dev stike city lol

I have to disagree with your somewhat negative take on the close range brawler build, the secondaries, yeah, they're pretty shit; but those torpedoes are absolutely devastating against unsuspecting players who are new to the tier or are just unaware of what the Anhalt has at it's disposal. The close range helps the low calibre guns score some good hits as a result of better shell trajectories and it lowers the risk of being citadelled. I would personally build this ship to be highly maneuverable, with rudder shift speed, increased maximum speed and especially the engine upgrade for acceleration, it helps you to bait and dodge some shots and get out of trouble fast which you will need in a battlecruiser like this, I would also invest a very small amount into secondaries for insurance against destroyers and the rest in to general gun accuracy and reload time for consistent long range fire lighting and cruiser sniping.
For Ohio Justinian lions would be an interesting idea with the short cooldown heals and great secondaries

The way I have my build on it the AP works pretty I've done well in it so far but I don't think I'll ever see 250k damage out of it not a ship that will turn the tide of a battle

To be honest I'm tempted to get this ship over Ohio….it would be more of a challenge.
There's a way to make this ship better and more fun to play.
I think the Anhalt is meant to be a more HE-focused ship with that 27% fire chance….15 shells makes that 27% much more appealing in my opinion.
The ship is very un-German with its top speed, but an outside-of-the-box build could be the answer to that particular problem…
I go with Scheer as the primary commander with Guepratte as an inspiration…both will increase that top speed, and throw in an epic booster to get even more out of the Anhalt's engines…and then put von Hipper in there to get those secondaries a bit more range and accurate and you got yourself a better Anhalt crafted from a Speed First/Secondary Second (pun intended) creation.
Of course one's play style, nation ship preference, the level of these commanders and bias may vary your experience, but when I rented the Anhalt….it was this exact build that made me like this particular ship. I had very good games with it, with enough fires, total damage, kills, a few citadels and the occasional torpedo strike to have fun with the Anhalt.
I have both Scheer & von Hipper at 16/3 & Guepratte at 16/2 currently.
It's a common theme to hear dismissive comments about the Universal Commanders in WoW Legends….but I always advise to not ignore all of them. Some of them can be very good for specific builds. Scheer is, in my opinion, is one of those commanders, von Essen is another that can be an effective option as an inspiration for instance. For example I've seen Metajerk use him as an inspiration on his German ships and I've also seen Tacticangel use Jellicoe in a few of his videos a while back.
This game's appeal isn't in the easy-to-play or semi-challenging ships…I know, that sounds like something a completed loony might say, but that rinse & repeat formula will bring on the boredom sooner than later for many players. You can't always blame the company that owns this game for all of your discontent with said game.
There are always nuances within just about any game that can be overlooked…yet they are there to explore.
But if you can extract performance from an unlikely ship that on the surface makes you uncomfortable, then you are truly a highly skilled player…this thinking is not for everyone as it takes time & patience, and not going this route doesn't make you less of a valuable player either, but the longevity of any video game is in its ability to push the thinking buttons of its players with the tools it provides to those players.
By habit, we tend to gravitate toward that EASY button because it brings expected results quicker…and I'm no exception to that habit, however, I'm now taking a purposeful second, third, and fourth look at ships I've dismissed in the past, by trying to crack whatever code that may exist, which has kept me from liking a particular ship.
Am I saying all ships in this game are fixable using this methodology? No…it may just be a handful of ships, or a couple…or just one ship, depending on the person, but I suspected, from my own experience, that there is a potential handful of ships, that can be played at a familiar level of fun and success out there in the water.
If you can pull it off, this game feels rather new again…which can be a good opportunity to think critically, but that's just me.
They should of gave us anhalt for campaign who cares about brisbane when we have mino.i wish I didn't have to choose between thay and ohio. The ap is useless but the he is really good because the the accuracy is decent for a German battleship. Anhalt is one of the easiest ships go play in the game.just spam he at range and decent armor.

Anhalt is another one of these “what if they had been built in or immediately after WWI and were subsequently upgraded” designs, like Kansas or Constellation. It’s an interesting concept, but at the end of the day you really have a tier 5 or 6 ship (according to when it was designed) trying to up tier into tier 7. I wish they would just put these ships in line with their contemporaries. Anhalt would be an interesting tier 6 if it was properly balanced there. At tier 7, it sees way too much armor that just doesn’t care about anything less than 15” guns.
The anhalt is a great ship. You just don't know how to play a BB apparently. She's a good sniper and brawler. The turrets are weaker to plunging fire but can take a beating at mid to close range. The Ohio gets dev struck very easy if you get caught broadside by the right ship. Every ship in legends is a great ship if you know how to play the ship to it's advantages. But to each there own I guess
