Let’s see how many, until I find a legendary card. *gulps* Gavin: Alright, well, that was actually way less exciting than I was hoping. RNG is a cruel mistress. Yep. Could have been 40, could have been 3. But you know? Here we are. I’d say RND. Carmen: I was literally thinking the same thing. Professor: Ooh!

You talk about Carmen like that? Carmen: Whooaa. These are all your cards pal. Professor: Wooow. Gavin: Not Clara apparently. Professor: *laughs* Carmen: How- All: *laughter* *Whovian intro music* Oh, Hello. What’s up? It’s Shuffle Up & Play. This may have been an episode recorded in the past, but we’re playing with cards from the future.

We have taken apart the Doctor Who Commander decks, and rebuilt them, regenerated them, into new designs, new creations using the many different combinations available, As well as cards from throughout the history of Magic: the Gathering. Who, has come to save the day, today. Wow. That was an amazing intro.

Yes, that was completely adlibbed, too. Teferi: *chuckles* Gavin: *laughing* You crushed it, too. That was, I was just like, it just went. I- You- You left me speechless. Gavin: Which is hard to do, by the way, leaving me speechless. Professor: Yes. So what is your- Who are you, that you’re so speechful?

Hey everybody, my name is Gavin Verhey. I’m a Principal Game Designer on Magic: the Gathering, and the Lead Designer of the Doctor Who Commander decks. I’m wearing the Tenth Doctor right now, one of my personal favorite Doctors, but is not the Doctor I am playing, I’m playing a non-canonical team-up.

You’ll see plenty of other fun canonical team-ups here today, but one of the funnest things to me, is you can mix and match from all across space and time. So I’ve got The War Doctor, paired with, Ryan Sinclair. Now, this is a deck unlike any deck you’ve probably seen before,

This is an exile and phasing matters deck, it’s a brand new look for Boros, and I can’t wait for you all to check it out. Exiling and phasing matters in Boros? Gavin: Yeah. In this economy?! Teferi: *chuckles* What could be more Doctor Who, than exile and phasing, you know?

Professor: It’s pretty Doctor Who. Gavin: It’s pretty appropriate. Gavin: So my deck is gonna basically build up time counters on The War Doctor, then when he attacks, he will deal damage according to the number of time counters on it. Wow, that sounds really cool. Well, hopefully it works. We’re gonna find out! *laughter* Hopefully!

Like any good Doctor plan, hopefully it works. We’ll see. Hi there, you might know me as Teferi, or Teferi Magic, but this time I’m playing another Time Lord, in fact I’m playing a rogue Time Lord: The Master. I won’t be phasing anyone this time I’m afraid, Gavin. However, I will be creating with The Master, Multiplied.

The legend rule doesn’t apply to creature tokens I control. Triggered abilities I control don’t cause me to sacrifice or exile creature tokens I control. Therefore, I care about creating more creatures, and having them spread out and destroy, and create chaos and destruction! Gavin: Sounds fun. Teferi: You’re turn. Yeah. Carmen: *laughs* It’s a good time.

Professor: I think you should play villains more often. Carmen: Sounds fun! Teferi: I don’t know. Professor: You’re so used to the hero of Dominaria. I’m versatile, I got all kinds of stuff. Professor: Yeah. *laughter* Hello, I’m the Doctor. But normally, I’m Carmen Klomparens. I’m a Game Designer at Wizards of the coast,

And I worked on the Doctor Who team forever. Today though, I’m playing the Twelfth Doctor, and Clara Oswald. My deck is all about casting spells from exile, and growing the Twelfth Doctor. to just commander damage people out. Clara was a really special card for you, why? Yeah! So Clara actually has an awesome ability,

That lets her add any color identity to any Doctor, with her Doctor’s companion effect. I thought it was so cool that she lived so many lives, and was so involved with so many parts of the Doctor, that it really felt like you could build your own adventure with Clara.

Well I am the only one who is actually dressed as his commander, because my commander is The Seventh Doctor, as well as his faithful friend, Ace, Fearless Rebel. I’ll be playing all sorts of games when I attack, leaving my opponents guessing what I have in my hand.

But, in order to make those attacks, good ol’ Ace, and her trusty baseball bat, will be clearing a path for me, fighting our way towards victory. So we of course built these Commander decks, by taking apart all four of the Commander Precons, and adding in Magic cards from our collections,

To build decks using other legendaries that were present in the decks. If you would like to know what is in the Blast From The Past deck, I have a full deck reveal that went up just a few hours ago. It’s in the past, you’re watching this now in the future,

You can travel back in time, by clicking that link in this video’s description, or you know, just clicking on YouTube, and looking at literally, the previous video. I did it three hours ago, and now it’s like hours in the- What time is it now? Time to, shuffle up and play? Wow, that was good.

Professor: That was good. Gavin: That was good. Professor: Yeah. Teferi: *laughs* Alright, well shall we roll, to see who goes first? Professor: That’s a 5. I don’t think I’m going first. Gavin: You needed a 7. Professor: Maybe seventh, I’m going seventh. Alright, well I can go for-

Gavin: I guess the War Doctor is technically- Professor: Tenth. Oh War Doctor is Professor: technically the Eighth. Gavin: Technically the Eighth. Professor: No Ninth. Gavin: The Ninth. Professor: The Ninth. Gavin: The Ninth Doctor. Professor: I don’t like, with, the numbering! Gavin: An 8. Gavin: Alright, I rolled an 8. Professor: Alright, yeah.

Carmen: Alright. Alright. Gavin: I’ll take an 8. [Evil voice] Alright Doctors, let’s see what we do here. Professor: Ohh! There’s another 5. Teferi: *evil voice continues* 5. Professor: Alright. Teferi: Bollocks. You gotta beat-You gotta beat an 8. Carmen: Alright, 12. 12. Professor: 12. Professor: If you roll a 12. Carmen: 12. 12.

Professor: If you roll a 12. Carmen: 12. All: Ohh! Professor: Roll off. Professor: Roll off. Gavin: I guess it could be a 12, Carmen: Alright, alright. Gavin: it’s a roll off. Professor: Roll off, roll off. Gavin: Lookin’ for 12. Carmen: 12. Carmen: 12. Professor: If she rolls a-

Teferi: Aww. Professor: Oh, I was gonna say-*laughs* Gavin: 3? Carmen: Not a good number! Gavin: Alright. Carmen: Alright, snake eyes! Alright, here we go! War Doctor, Ryan Sinclair. Gavin: Alright, I got it, I got it, I got it. Carmen: Alright. Alright. Alright. Alright. Professor: Yep. Professor: Alright, shall we shuffle up and play?

Gavin: We shall. Teferi: Let’s do it. Carmen: Let’s go. Gavin: Let’s go. Professor: Alright. Professor: Alright. Remember that in Commander, the first mulligan is free. Wow, this should be a really fun mix of decks we have right here. I’m excited to see how this all plays out.

We tried so many of like, face pairings for the decks, but, we’ve regenerated it all, like, who knows how this will all play out. This is wild. Carmen: *sighs* Still doin’ it. Nah, I messed it up. No, you messed it up? Oh. There you go. I messed it up. Here I can do it,

But that’s cause I already drew my, Professor: 7. Carmen: Wooww. Professor: Yeah, wooww. Carmen: Wooowwwww. I messed this up, cause I already can see I need to mulligan this. I’ll go with you. *laughs* Will you go with me through space and time? Feels strange not to make all the time jokes.

Carmen: Yeah, yeah. Same. Professor: Right? That’s right. Teferi: I’m still a Time Lord! Professor: You’re still- Teferi: I am still a Time Lord. Professor: I’ve always- I have always maintained, that Teferi is the Time Lord Professor: of Magic: the Gathering. Teferi: I think it’s the truth. The, intelligent, yet playful,

Teferi: Master of time. Professor: traveling, master of time. Yeah, he’s a master, and a time. Professor: Right. No, no, no, well- Professor: You’re The Master, Teferi: That’s true. here today. Alright, I got something for it. *Sonic Screwdriver noise* Professor: Alright, I’m going to- Carmen: *uses Sonic Screwdriver again* *Sonic Screwdriver continues*

You reversed the polarity, but I’m going to reverse it right back. Before you say that Sylvestor McCoy never used a Sonic Screwdriver, he did in the 1990 telemovie, and this is the one that he used. So it’s canon, it’s canon. I, will also, Sonic my library. But I love my hand, so I’m actually just gonna,

Gavin: I’m just gonna keep this. Professor: Right. Carmen: Uh huh, uh huh. Gavin: Then make my top card really good. You got any Sonic Screwdrivers over there, Gavin: Master? Teferi: No Sonic Screwdrivers. Carmen: Alright. Teferi: I don’t need a toy, Doctor. He actually does have a toy, but-

Teferi: I need a toy, Doctor. Others: *laughter* Available at your retailers today. Gavin and Carmen: *laugh* Teferi: I’ll just steal yours. Professor: But that’s not what we’re selling. Alright, so we’re all good? So Gavin? You’re on the play, I believe. Gavin: Okay. Doctors, Master, let’s kick it off. Shouldn’t we be doing Archenemy,

Against The Master? Teferi: *laughs* Sometimes they work together, you know? Next time. Professor and Gavin: *laughter* *laughs* On the next episode. Gavin: Alright I’m going to go ahead and play Temple of Triumph. I’ll go ahead and scry 1. Ooh, I like that card, I’m gonna put it back on the top of my library.

It’s your turn, go ahead. Alright, I will draw for my turn, and I will play the Temple of Malice. Teferi: How appropriate. Gavin: Mmm. I too will scry for my turn. *sharp inhale* Oooohh, hmm. I’ll leave that there. Carmen: Alright. Alright, more temples. Right, Let’s see if everybody plays a temple. Teferi: Right.

I don’t have a temple. Gavin: Okay. Carmen: Alright, Ketria Triome, Teferi: Ah, well. Tri-Land. Carmen: Go. Gavin: *chuckles I will- I will try. I will try. You’ll “try-ome.” Carmen: Ahhh. Professor: I’m gonna play one of my favorite types of lands, it is a Sea of Clouds. Gavin: Ooh! Professor: Now this enters the battlefield untapped,

Professor: because we’re playing Commander. Absolutely love them, this type debuted in a set called Battlebond. Professor: Did you ever play Battlebond Gavin? Gavin: Never heard of it. Gavin: Can’t say I’ve ever heard of it. Professor: Whoever- Professor: Whoever was involved in Battlebond, really brilliant. But, I’m going to- Second one someday?

Gavin: I don’t know, maybe they’ll draw that. Carmen: I’m sure they were doing their best. Teferi: *laughs* Gavin: Yeah, yeah. Professor: Very appropriate this is the Commander land, because I’m going to tap it, Professor: for a Sol Ring, turn one. Gavin: *surprised laughter* Carmen: Oh! Professor: What an unusual play. Carmen: Archenemy! Teferi: Oohh.

Carmen: What a great idea! Teferi: Noted. Professor: Those Sonics really, really worked. Professor: Well, nothing I can do with just colorless mana though, so I pass the turn. So it’s not too powerful. It’s not too powerful. Professor: If I could do something with it. Carmen: Alright-

Gavin: It’s only triple the mana of all of us, Gavin: not that much more powerful. Professor: Yeah, right, Alright, new plan: New stuff versus old stuff. Ohh. I like this plan. Alright, well, I’ll draw my card. I’m gonna tap- I’m gonna play a Mountain. I’m gonna tap *counting* 1 and 2,

And I’m going to cast a Talisman of Conviction, Teferi: Ohhh. Gavin: which can tap for mana. Talisman of Conviction’s are cool. *chuckles* Yes, Teferi: *chuckles* Gavin: yes they are. Carmen: *laughs* Get ready for a whole hour of that. Gavin: I love that we made the Talisman’s all little affects of the

Gavin: Doctor, I think that was a really nice little thing, Professor: Yes! I think that’s cool. Gavin: So we got the bowtie, Professor: Is one of them a stalk of celery? One of them is a stalk of celery! Professor: That’s great, that’s a good one.

Carmen: *laughs* Gavin: Talisman of Unity, appropriately known. Teferi: *chuckles* Question, who can say why the Doctor wears a stalk of celery? Not only can I tell you, but the flavor text of the card tells you. Okay, well we’ll have to wait and see if it comes up, now.

Gavin: Okay. Teferi: Does the flavor text taste like celery, is the question. Gavin: I haven’t eaten the card, yet, so I’ll let you try that, Gavin: and get back to me. Carmen: It does, it does. Teferi: *laughing* Okay, okay. Carmen: We have people- Teferi: *laughter* Carmen: I’m sure someone might’ve-

Gavin: Our best people at QA were on it. Carmen: *laughs* Alright, I’m gonna take 1 damage, I’ll take first blood here, and go to 39. Gavin: I will suspend Ecstatic Beauty, from one of my favorite episodes, Vincent and the Doctor. Gavin: So I put 4 counters on it, Carmen: *sighs*

And in four turns, I will exile my top three cards, and can play those cards until end of turn. I will pass my turn over to you, Master! Untap, draw. Teferi: I will play this plain old Mountain, Gavin: Mhm. and I will pass the turn. Alright, big draw, big draw, good one.

Oh that one’s fine. Carmen: Alright, Rejuvenating Springs. Kind of like Sea of Clouds, a little different. Carmen: They’re different colors. Professor: It’s a really good card to have. Carmen: Oh, yeah, absolutely, I have so many opponents, Teferi: I think so. Carmen: so. Professor: Right. Yeah. Carmen: Then I’ll play Arcane Signet, everyone’s favorite.

Carmen: It taps for a lot of colors of mana. Professor: It’s Sol Ring at home. Well, maybe your “at home,” but, you’re up. The TARDIS is my home. Arcane Signet- Oh, I must resist. Must resist  Gavin joke about Arcane Signet. Okay, going on. The Gavin giveth,

Gavin: and the Gavin taketh away. Professor: *laughs* Gavin: You know? So. *laughing* The Gavin giveth, and the Gavin taketh away. Or giveth too far. Untap, upkeep, draw for turn. I love that card, Rejuvenating Springs. I love it so much, Professor: I think I will play one of my own. Gavin: Ohh.

Carmen: Wow. Gavin: Are you feeling rejuvenated? I’m feeling very rejuvenated. Carmen: Very handsome and smart of you. Teferi: Twinsies. It’s time- It’s time for me to bring in my friend, Professor: Ace. Teferi: Ace! Professor: Ace! I’m going to go ahead and spend 4, to bring in Ace, Fearless Rebel, who’s got Nitro-9!

Which means that whenever Ace, Fearless Rebel attacks, you may sacrifice an artifact. Professor: When you do, put a +1/+1 counter on Ace, Fearless Rebel, then it fights up to one target creature defending player controls. Just a 2/2 for now, and I don’t really have any artifacts, though it’s interesting that my Doctor makes them.

Carmen: You know, Gavin: You can sac you’re Sol Ring. Teferi: Yeah, you have your Sol Ring. Carmen: I think you have- Gavin: Just sac that Sol Ring, no problem. Teferi: It might turn on. Professor: Oh, yeah, that’s an artifact, isn’t it? Carmen: Why don’t you sacrifice your Sol Ring, Prof?

I didn’t- Well I Professor: don’t want to sacrifice the Sol Ring. Teferi: Sacrifice your soul, Teferi: Doctor. Carmen: It would be a lot cooler if you did. Professor: I actually- It would be cooler. Maybe I will. Maybe I will. Carmen: *laughs* Gavin: Oh, you mastered it. Professor: But for now-

But for now, I will pass the turn. Okay. Untap, and I’ll remove a time counter off Ecstatic Beauty, and I’ll draw my card. *laughs* I just drew a very funny Magic card, you’ll see it someday. Professor: *laughs* Gavin: *counting* 1, 2, 3, I’m gonna play- Tap *counting* 1, 2, and 3 of them,

For Ryan Sinclair. From the Thirteenth Doctor’s run. Here’s what Ryan does: When he attacks, you exile cards from the top of your library, until you exile a nonland card. I can cast that exiled card without paying it’s mana cost, if it’s mana value is less than or equal to his power. So for now,

It will- If I hit anything that cost 2 or less, it’ll cast it for free, otherwise, it just goes on the bottom of my library. Gavin: Fair enough. So, Carmen: Okay. maybe I’ll hit a Signet, maybe I’ll do nothing, you never know, with Ryan Sinclair. I will, though, tap 1 mana, and I’m gonna play,

The Ozolith. Teferi: Ahh. Gavin: So- What episode was that from? Gavin: The same one that Ketria Triome is from. *laughs* Teferi: *chuckles* All: *laugh* Professor: Oh okay, yes. Gavin: That’s actually true. Carmen: Yeah, yeah. Gavin: I’ll pass over to you, Master. Teferi: Alright, I’m gonna draw, and I will play, this basic Swamp.

Then I will play, Urabrask’s Forge. At the beginning of combat on my turn, put an oil counter on Urabrask’s Forge. Then create an X/1 red Phyrexian Horror creature token with trample and haste, where X is the number of oil counters on Urabrask’s Forge. Sacrifice that token at the beginning of the next end step. Turns out, kids,

That we are moving to my combat step. *scary music sting* Professor: Oh dear. Carmen: I have a feeling I’m about to get hurt. Oh, I don’t know, let’s see. Professor: Very, very on flavor, for The Master to ally themselves with the Phyrexians. Teferi: Yes. Gavin: *laughs* Teferi: I think-

We’ll start with you, since you seemed so eager. Carmen: Well, I mean, attack them. You won’t. Teferi: I won’t what? Carmen: I- I don’t think y- I think you’re afraid of attacking them. You think I’m afraid- Yes, well- Gavin: Is it our 2/2’s in the way? Carmen and Gavin: *laughter*

Carmen: Alright, alright. Alright. Teferi: You know what? I think it is you. Carmen: Alright, I’ll take 1, I’ll take 1. Teferi: Alright, you’re taking 1, Teferi: for combat, and I pass the turn. Carmen: Okay, alright. I’ll play a Forest, and then I’ll tap 2, for Baral, Chief of Compliance. Teferi: *scared disgust*

Carmen: So Baral makes my instants and sorceries cost 1 less, and if I counter a spell, I can draw a card. Then if I do, I discard a card, and he’s a 1/3. But that’s all I got for my turn, so you’re up. Alright. Baral, I think, is a worse villain than The Master,

In my opinion. Untap, upkeep, and draw. Ohh, interesting. I better read this card, cause it’s from one of the- I mean it might be from one of the new decks there. Professor: Yes, let’s- Carmen: Cards from the future! *laughs* Professor: Yes, yes, yes. Professor: I’m just going to be basic, and play a Forest.

Professor: Then I’ve got just the right combination of mana, to bring in, Sylvester McCoy. Professor: I don’t have my Radagast, the Brown card, Teferi: *laughs* to make that joke, Professor: that Sylvestor McCoy has appeared on, not one, but two Magic cards, because he played Radagast the Brown. But here he is,

And whenever The Seventh Doctor attacks, choose a card from my hand. Professor: Defending player guesses whether that cards mana value is greater than the number of artifacts I control. Professor: If they guessed wrong, you may cast it without paying it’s mana cost. If you don’t cast a spell this way, investigate, meaning create a Clue token.

Professor: You’re Phyrexian is currently gone, Master. Teferi: Currently gone. Is that true? Professor: I’m gonna go ahead and attack you, with Ace. Professor: I will not sacrifice, Professor: my one and only. So I- Gavin: Ahh, c’mon. Professor: It would have been r- Professor: I was tempted to do it, but it’s stupid to do it,

Gavin: *laughs* Professor: and I’m not gonna do it, because I’m trying to be the clever chessmaster, Professor: that is The Seventh Doctor. Carmen: ‘Kay. Teferi: I’ll take 2. Professor: Take 2. This is- This is technically commander damage. Although, if you kill him with Ace, I’ll be very impressed. But it’s not impossible.

Ace can take down a Dalek with a baseball bat, she can take down The Master. Gavin: Fair enough, fair enough. Professor: Yes, yes, yes. Pass the turn. Okay, untap. I’m going to remove a counter from Ecstatic Beauty, and I will draw a card. Gavin: Alright, well, I’m gonna go for, *counting* 1, 2, 3, 4,

And I’m gonna play, The War Doctor. Gavin: So, The War Doctor is a wild Magic card. Gavin: Whenever one or more other permanents phase out, and whenever one or more cards are put into exile from anywhere, he gets a time counter. Professor: ‘Kay. Gavin: Whenever he attacks,

He deals damage equal to the number of time counters on him to any target. Gavin: If something dies this way, it gets exiled, Gavin: which will put another time counter on him. Professor: Wow. So he’s, you know, he’s in the war, there’s all this time stuff happening around him,

And then he has to get a little furious. Why are you always making Boros so strong in Commander, eh? Eh? Because the people asked for it. Teferi: They did ask for it. Professor: Okay. So I’m also gonna point out an interaction, that might not come up this turn,

Gavin: but it’s a little rules interaction for all you out there. Professor: Hm. Gavin: So, whenever one or more other cards are put into exile, this triggers. Gavin: If you exile until you look for something, for example as Ryan Sinclair does, each one goes into exile seperately.

Gavin: You exile one, and the game checks, Teferi: Oh no. Gavin: you exile one, and the game checks, and so on. Gavin: So, when Ryan attacks, I will get a counter for each card he exiles. Look it up, tell your friends. Professor: Wow. Teferi: That doesn’t seem very good.

So, let’s just see what happens. I see, player with blocker, player with blocker, Ohh! Player without blocker. I see how this is going. Gavin: Let’s attack, I’m gonna send Ryan Sinclair at you, Teferi: Alright. Gavin: and I’m gonna exile cards until I exile a nonland card.

If it costs 2 or less, I can play it for free, let’s see what happens. Gavin: Exile land, exile land, Carmen: Holy- Gavin: exile land, Carmen: Relax! Gavin: exile a Robe of Stars. Gavin: So, I’ll cast the Robe of Stars for free, because it cost 2 or less.

Gavin: I hit *counting* 1, 2, 3, 4, exiled permanents, and because of the ruling I just explained, War Doctor will get four counters. Professor: Holy-! Gavin: So next turn when he attacks, he’ll deal 4 damage somewhere. Was there no one on the design team,

To check what he was up to when he designed this?! He- Look at what he did here! Look at what you did, you have a Sol Ring! *scoffs* Yeah, but that’s not because of Doctor Who Commander decks!

Professor: Although this is from the Doctor Who Commander decks. Carmen: That is a- That is a Doctor Who Sol Ring. Professor: It is a Doctor Who Sol Ring, but that’s worse. Professor: That is- Carmen: *laughs* Professor: Can you not- Carmen: *continues laughing* Professor: You see how that’s worse, right?! Carmen: No.

Professor: You see how that’s worse. Carmen: I don’t wear glasses because I have good eyes. Teferi: Give it a chance. Professor: *chuckles* Carmen: I don’t see anything. Professor: Oh. Gavin: So this is what it  means to be a Doctor of war. Gavin: Alright, well you’re  gonna take 2 from Ryan.

Teferi: I’m taking 2 from Ryan. Gavin: The War Doctor, he can’t do anything yet, this turn. Gavin: But I’ll play a land for turn, Professor: Mhm. Gavin: I’ll tap it, I’m gonna cast a Relic of Progenitus. Gavin: Okay, just a little way to exile cards from

Graveyards, and I will pass the turn over to you. Teferi: Alright, I will untap, draw. Teferi: Ah! I will play this Shadowblood Ridge, for land, and I will also play a Thought Vessel. Gavin: Thought Vessel, I was sad we could not get a Professor Yana card in the set,

But it is the one reference we got to him in there, Gavin: is when he wears his vessel, from that episode. Professor: Yeah. So still in the deck somewhere. Gavin: A little hint of Mr. Yana. Professor: I know you’ve said you’re sad you could not get a Professor Yana card in the decks,

And in that sense, you are not alone. *sniffs* Gavin: Ohhhh, awwww. Thank you Professor. Professor: Yes. Gavin: Y-A-N-A, You Are Not Alone, Professor: They get it, they get the joke! Gavin: for those who haven’t seen the show. Professor: They get the joke! Gavin: Maybe they haven’t seen the show!

Professor: It was the whole-! Carmen: Do they? Professor: It was the whole crux of that episode, where he realized that The Master was actually using the Chameleon- Professor: Anyway. Gavin: Spoilers for a, 10+ year old episode of television, Professor: Yeah, for a- Professor: More than that. Gavin: but there you go.

Carmen: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa, we gotta- Professor: We gotta, alright. Carmen: *laughs* Professor: Gotta settle down there. There. As I move to the beginning of combat, I will tick up my Urabrask’s Forge, and I will create a Phyrexian Horror token that is a 2/1. It needs to swing, because it’s hungry for blood.

McCoy is a 3/6. Teferi: You got a blocker, Gavin: The War Doctor is a 3/5. Teferi: you got a blocker, I don’t like Baral, so I’m going to swing at him. Carmen: Bah! Teferi: Alright, he- Gavin: *laughs* Teferi: I’ll pass the turn. Carmen: Alright. Carmen: *clicks tongue*

Gavin: Alright Doctor. Carmen: Appreciate y’alls patience. Carmen: *clicks tongue* Teferi: You have all the time in the world. Professor: *laughs* Gavin: Oh, because it’s a time joke? Teferi: Oh, you heard? Gavin: Oh, yeah, yeah. Teferi: I do that sometimes. Carmen: Oh my god!

Gavin: *chuckling* Yeah. Carmen: I am going to tap 2 mana, and cast Search for Tomorrow, which lets me search my deck for a basic land, and put it onto the battlefield. Gavin: Discounted by 1, because of Baral. Carmen: Exactly. Gavin: Very nice, very well done. Gavin: Storm count 1, everybody.

With Baral in play, you gotta keep track of storm count. Carmen: Don’t tell them. Gavin: *chuckles* Carmen: Don’t tell them that. We all know that the, Weather the Storm is coming to gain a bunch of life. Professor: The oncoming storm? Gavin: The oncoming storm, perhaps. Yes. Teferi: A gathering, storm. Carmen: *sharp exhale*

Teferi: We’re playing Magic- Nevermind. Professor, Gavin, and Teferi: *laughs* Gavin: What is tomorrow like, Carmen. Carmen: I move this to the side. Carmen: Uhhh, I’m still lookin.’ Gavin: *laughing* Okay. Carmen: I’m still lookin.’ It’s always in flux. Gavin: Well, that’s fair, that’s fair. Gavin: It’s a good reference. Professor: I get that reference.

Gavin: I understood that. Professor: I get it. Carmen: Ooohh! Carmen: Then, I’m gonna play the backside of Bala Ged Recovery, as tapped Bala Ged Sanctuary. Carmen: This is just a green tap land, and I’m done. Alright, here we go. I got an interesting question, for you, there Gavin. Yes?

Professor: It’s- This is the question, is: What happens if I attempt to exile The War Doctor? Any- there’s a lot of text there, so I’m gonna ask you to give me the gist of it. What happens if I attempt to exile? Any weird little- Gavin: He gets exiled. Professor: He gets exiled, that’s fantastic.

Carmen: Oh my god, that’s such a flavor home run. Gavin: I- Gavin: I will call out, I have The Ozolith, so I will move the counters onto Ozolith, but you will get rid of the card, which is pretty good. Professor: Alright, so, everybody’s in favor of me exiling The War Doctor, I assume?

Teferi: Aye. Carmen: For the moment. Professor: Yes. Gavin: * laughs* Wow, you came ready to go today, Carmen. Carmen: *laughs* Professor: I assume that’s means we are allied Doctors, at least for the moment. Because I’m wasting a spell- Using, a spell, to- Because that’s scary, right? Don’t look at what the spell is!

Professor: You know what is- Carmen: I’m not looking! Carmen: I’m leaning over to you. Professor: Oh, you’re leaning over to me? Teferi: Conspiratorial. Carmen: Yeah! What- Thank you, thank you. Carmen: We’re- *sighs* Professor: Yeah. Professor: I’m gonna get rid of The War Doctor, because I don’t, yes.

Teferi: It’s Doctor on Doctor crime. Carmen: Oh, you got it fam let’s do it. Professor: Alright, let’s do it. Professor: I tapped for a white, which was floating that whole conspiratorial time, Professor: and I’m going to Path to Exile, Gavin: Awwww! Professor: The War Doctor.

Professor: You may go get a basic land card, because ya basic, Gavin: Ooh! Professor: and put that card onto the battlefield tapped, because ya basic, and then shuffle. Gavin: So fitting, because that depicts The Second Doctor going into exile, becoming The Third Doctor. Professor: Yes.

Gavin: I love that Path to Exile, it’s so good. Professor: Right. Gavin: I will-  Professor: I smacked your commander so hard, he went back to the second regeneration. Gavin: *shocked laughter* Wooow. Wooow! I have a response. Professor: *groans* Oh god. Gavin: I’m gonna make you exile a card from your graveyard. Carmen: Yep.

Gavin: I’ll put a- Carmen: My Search for Tomorrow is gone. Gavin: Because you exiled a card, I’ll put a counter on The War Doctor. Gavin: But then, The War Doctor will get exiled, and I’ll move his counters to The Ozolith, and he’s gonna go back into my command zone. Gavin: I’m gonna get a land.

Gavin: Choop! But at least I get a land. So it’s not all bad, it’s not all bad news. I get a Mountain. Poor War Doctor. Oh, exile is an appropriate place to go, honestly. Professor: Yes. Gavin: It feels about right, for- Professor: That’s where he was, in the Doctor’s mind, for many regenerations.

Many, many years. Gavin: Well, my Ozolith now has 5 time counters, so there you go. Professor: Man, those are going to go right back on The War Doctor, when- Teferi: Yes, yes they are. Professor: Yes, yes. Okay. Would you like to cut, Doctor? Gavin: Do you trust me? Professor: I trust you.

Gavin: Wow. Carmen: *scoffs* No more. Professor: If you can’t- Gavin: *laughing* No more? Professor: If you cant trust yourself, who can you trust? Gavin: Ahh! There you go! Professor: So now, you don’t have Gavin: Exactly. Professor: any untapped creatures, I noticed. Gavin: I have no untapped creatures, or lands, or anything really.

I have an untapped Ozolith, and Robe of Stars, not doing a lot. Would you like to play a game? Oh no. Alright, let’s play a game. Move to declare attackers, Gavin: Okay. Professor: I’m attacking you, Professor: with The Seventh Doctor. Professor: I am sending Ace, over at our good friend, The Master,

Because I do wanna see if Ace can kill The Master with commander damage. Teferi: *sighs* Professor: When The Seventh Doctor attacks, I choose a card from my hand, and you’re gonna guess if that card is greater than, or lesser than, the number of artifacts that I have in play.

Gavin: Which is one. Professor: Which is one. Gavin: Okay. Professor: So this card, geater than, or lesser than, the number of artifacts, that I have in play. Gavin: If I- So, I have to try and guess if this card cost 2, or more, Professor: Right. Gavin: or less.

Gavin: If I’m wrong, you get to cast it for free? Professor: Yeah. Seems like the safe bet, is to say it costs 2 or more, so then you can cost anything 1 or less for free. You’ve activated my trap card. Gavin: What?! Gavin: What’s it gonna be? Professor: Because, Gavin: Whoooaaahh!  Carmen: Oohhhhhh!

Professor: I felt it’s only fitting, since you are one of the originators of the Modern format, and I love Modern so much, to use this, Professor: Modern all-star card, of Crashing Footfalls. Gavin: Very nice. Professor: Which has no mana cost, and therefore is less than the number of artifacts I have into play.

Gavin: I feel tricked, Doctor, I feel tricked! I get two, not one but two, 4/4 green rhinos creature tokens, with trample. Now, it’s not suspended though? Gavin: It just gets cast. Professor: It’s just cast. Carmen: Yep. Gavin: Yeah, you can- Profesor: *laughing* That’s really cool! I thought it was suspended for a second, okay.

Gavin: No, you just get to do it! [Sound effect] *rhino growl* Gavin: Wow. Professor: Just do it. Gavin: I guess I’ll just take 3, from The Seventh Doctor. Teferi: I’ll take 2 from Ace. Gavin: I’ll go down to 36. Gavin: You get two rhinos? Professor: I get two rhinos. Gavin: Wow.

Professor: I also get a second main phase. Gavin: Oh, true. Gavin: This Doctor’s got it all. Professor: I did play a land- Professor: No I didn’t play a land! I didn’t play a land yet? Gavin: No, you didn’t play a land this turn. Professor: Well. Gavin: You kill my commander,

Then you trick me into giving you some rhinos, what kind of Doctor are you? Professor: I’m gonna, Simic Growth Chamber, returning Sea of Clouds to my hand. Professor: Then let’s go ahead and spend 3, we’re just gonna bring out another little artifact here, It’s a Commander’s Sphere!

Professor: I can tap it to add 1 mana of any color in my commander’s color identity, or sacrifice it to draw a card. Finally, some food for Ace. Pass. If Ace eats it, can I then sacrifice it to draw- Professor: No, that’s not- No, no. Gavin: No, no you cannot. You must choose,

Professor: That’s greedy. Gavin: because it’s Nitro-9. Professor: That’s greedy. Gavin: Yeah, don’t be so greedy! Carmen: That was so cool. In hindsight, I wish we had made a Judoon version of this. Professor: Ohh! Gavin: Ohhhhh! Carmen: How sweet would that have been? Gavin: That would have been cool.

That would have been very cool. Gavin: Alas, for next time! Carmen: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Well, you killed my Doctor- Gavin: Oh, this goes down to 1. Professor: Yes. You removed my Doctor, how sad! Gavin: I’m just gonna do it. Gavin: *counting* 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6.

Gavin: Here comes The War Doctor, Teferi: Uuggh. Gavin: he’s back everybody. Gavin: The War Doctor is back in town. Gavin: I’m gonna go to combat, and Ryan Sinclair, looks like the coast is still clear over on you, Master. Gavin: I will attack you, with Ryan Sinclair,

I will exile cards until I exile a nonland card, War Doctor will get a counter for each of them. Gavin: So, I’ll exile The Flux, War Doctor will get 1 counter. Gavin: I cannot cast it, because it’s mana cost is 4, and Ryan’s power is only 2.

Gavin: It just goes onto the bottom of my library. So you’re saying The Flux is at bay for now? Gavin: The Flux is at bay, it’s very much at bay. Carmen: It’s very crucial to me specifically, Teferi: *laughs* that I don’t have to deal with The Flux right now. *laughs* Gavin: That is true.

Gavin: Well, can you take 2 damage? Teferi: I got it. Gavin: Alright, alright. Well at least Ryan got his, got his licks in, and I will go ahead and pass the turn to you. Alright. I will untap, I will draw. Teferi: Ooohh, I will play Shizo, Death’s Storehouse. Teferi: I’ll play- Tap for 4.

Gavin: You play your commander, right? Teferi: I could, but I won’t. Teferi: I’m going to instead play Jaxis, the Troublemaker. Teferi: Jaxis, the Troublemaker is a legendary creature, human warrior, for 3 and a red. Teferi: He says: You pay 1 red and tap, and discard a card.

Teferi: Create a token that’s a copy of another target creature I control. Teferi: It gains haste, and “when this creature dies, draw a card.” Teferi: Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step. Teferi: I will move to combat, I will tick up Urabrask’s Forge, thus creating a 3/1. Teferi: I think-

Gavin: Oooh. Professor: All I have is a couple Judoon, 4/4 Judoon’s. Teferi: Oh, 4/4’s. Gavin: A platoon of Judoon. Teferi: You, Gavin: I have a 3/5. Teferi: I’m sorry. Are you? Teferi: A little bit. Teferi: Just a little bit. Carmen: A little? Teferi: A little bit. Carmen: Alright.

Teferi: The tiniest amount of remorse. Carmen: No, for sure, for sure. Teferi: So, you’re good old friend, the Phyrexian Horror with haste, is now a 3/1, and I’ll attack your, Professor: Face. Teferi: face. Carmen: 16. Teferi: 16. Professor: 36? Carmen: 36! Gavin: *laughs* You know, the greatest feeling in the world,

Is when you manage to get one of those over on a WOTC staff, Gavin: *laughs* Carmen: *sighs* Professor: it’s the greatest, and she was my tutor! Look, what can I say? I spend a lot of time on Standard and Modern. Professor: Yup. *laughs* Carmen: *laughs* *laughs* Alright, I’m gonna draw for turn. *laughs*

So now, you can unlock one of your commanders, Gavin: or you got something else wild going on? Carmen: Alright, I’m going to play Otawara, Soaring City. Gavin: Nice. Carmen: This is a blue land, right now. Carmen: Then, I’ll tap 6, for Clara Oswald. Carmen: So, she is the Impossible Girl,

Which means she counts as any color, in this case I chose green. Carmen: But, she also has the ability that whenever she’s on the battlefield, if the ability of on of my Doctor’s triggers, it triggers again. I’m done. That’s pretty good. That’s pretty good. No Doctors right now? No. I don’t have a Doctor yet.

Can you apply it to one of my Doctors? Professor: They’re technically the same character. Carmen: Well, if you find a way to, maybe, say copy this one, sure. I mean, Clara known for showing up in all kinds of places Gavin: Sure. Carmen: you wouldn’t expect. Gavin: Sure. Carmen: Inside a Dalek, spoilers.

Carmen: All kinds of places. Gavin: In Victorian England. Carmen: Spoilers. *laughs* Professor: Victorian England, spoilers. Professor: Sp-sp-sp-sp-spoilers. Gavin: In Bessie- Next to Bessie in a quick cut scene. Professor: On Gallifrey, convincing the Doctor to steal the TARDIS. Carmen: In the time stream itself. Professor: Yeah. Carmen: Spoilers. Professor: Yep, yep.

Professor: May I move to my untap? Carmen: Oh yeah. You do what you gotta do. I gotta untap. Professor: I gotta draw. Gavin: Untapping those rhinos. Well, they were- They did technically untap. Gavin: Yeah. Professor: An untapped card untaps. Gavin: Yes. Professor: Right? Carmen: Eh.

Professor: Is that correct? Carmen: *whispers* No, it’s- Gavin: Let’s- Professor: No, it’s not? Gavin: Let’s- Gavin: Let’s say yes. Carmen: You’re doing great. Professor: Don’t say yes, let’s say the truth. Gavin: Yeah. Gavin: Wake Thrasher would not get +1/+1 from them, Professor: Damn! Gavin: if that’s your question. Professor: Okay,

Carmen: *laughing* We literally thought of the same card. Professor: okay. *laughs* I put Wake Thrasher in my- Professor: How did you know I was thinking of a Merfolk?! Gavin: *laughs* Professor: I’m gonna play that Sea of Clouds, again. Now, you still have, yep, still have three or more opponents. Yeah.

I do. I do, I do, I do. So, it’s very interesting, before I even go to combat, it’s very interesting that you should mention, Clara, being something that can be copied, as a way to help my Doctor, and I think that’s very on flavor, because she is in all of the Doctor’s time streams,

Including mine. Which is why I’m going to tap, a whopping 6 mana, Whoah. Gavin: That’s as much as Clara cost! Professor: For an Auton Soldier. Gavin: Oooooh! Professor: That is also as much as Clara cost. Carmen: Ooohhhhh. Professor: This is going to enter the battlefield as a copy of Clara,

Except it isn’t legendary, and it is an artifact, very interesting. Professor: It has myriad, as well. I would have expected her to maybe be a Flesh Duplicate, but you know, honestly, as many places as she’s been, Professor: Hey- Carmen: probably was an Auton at some point. Gavin: Yeah, that makes sense. You-

You designed the card, not me. I mean- Well, probably didn’t design- Carmen: I- Professor: You were involved in the designing of the card, Professor: and all that. Carmen: Well, it takes a team, you know? *laughs* Professor: Yeah, it takes a team, it takes a team. Teferi: *laughs* I designed that card.

All: *laughter* Professor: Did you really? Did you really? Gavin: Yeah. Okay, here we go. Okay. So, now I’m gonna go ahead, and move to declare attackers. I want to attackers, you, Awwww. Professor: Gavin. Carmen: *laughs* Professor: Gavin’s the threat. Gavin: I’m the threat?! Professor: You’re the threat.

Carmen: You’re the danger. Teferi: You’re always the threat, Gavin. Professor: You’re always the threat. Gavin: Yeah. Professor: Gavin’s the threat, and you know the wonderful thing, is that Clara, is going to insure, that if a triggered ability of a Doctor I control triggers, it triggers twice. So we’re gonna play the guessing game twice.

Gavin: Ooh! Alright, double or nothing. Professor: Double or nothing. I now have *counting* 1, 2, 3 artifacts in play, is this greater than, Professor: or lesser than the number of artifacts I have in play. Gavin: *sighs* I will- Now we’re getting tighter, I will play the odds still, and still say greater than 3.

Well I don’t have to reveal that card, I’m just gonna go ahead, and I’m gonna get a Clue. Gavin: Okay, so now you get a Clue. Professor: Maybe- Maybe I could have cast that card, Professor: maybe I couldn’t. Carmen: Who’s to say? Who’s to say? But I got another trigger.

Gavin: Right. Professor: Now, I’m gonna say- Now you have 4 artifacts, so now it’s a little trickier. 4 is like a good break point for that deck, right? Because it’s like, ” Uhhh, is it greater than 4? 4 or less? Uh-” Teferi: Uh ahh! Is this card greater than, or less than,

Professor: the number of artifacts I have in play? Gavin: *frustrated sigh* I’m still gonna say it’s greater than, I’m gonna say it’s greater than 4. Very well. Gavin: *laughing* Alright. Teferi: *high pitched voice* I really don’t know. Professor: It may be, I don’t know. I don’t know.

Teferi: *high pitched voice* Mmm. Gavin: Aaalright. Well- Professor: You know? You know? Who knows. Carmen: Worst case scenario, Carmen: you’re drawin’ a card. Professor: Who knows. Gavin: I will- Well, Gavin: The War Doctor- Professor: So, now you got attackers coming at you. Gavin: War Doctor’s gonna block that rhino,

Professor: You’re gonna block the rhino? Gavin: and I will take 7 from The Seventh Doctor, right on through for commander damage. Gavin: So I’ll go down to 29. Geez, okay. That’s pretty sweet. Pretty neat. Professor: I’m gonna go ahead and pass the turn. Gavin: Alright, at the end of your turn,

I will use Relic of Progenitus, and plese exile a card from your graveyard, Professor, your choice. Professor: Me?! Gavin: Yeah, you. Professor: I’m gonna exile the, Professor: Path to Exile. Gavin: Okay. When you exile a card, Gavin: I’ll put a counter on The War Doctor. Teferi: Oh, good. Alright. Carmen: *laughs*

Gavin: I agree, it is good. Teferi and Carmen: *laugh* Gavin: I will- Professor: So, now it’s a 4/6 now? Gavin: No. Now it has two time counters. I will go to my upkeep, Gavin: I’ll take a counter off of Ecstatic Beauty, and this unsuspends. Gavin: So Ecstatic Beauty exiles my top three cards,

Gavin: I can play those cards until end of turn, and if they have suspend, they get four time counters. Teferi: Three cards go into exile. Gavin: So, exile my top three cards, which is a Mountain, Gavin: a Delayed Blast Fireball, that’s a really good one. Teferi: Ooh! Gavin: The Day of the Doctor, how fitting.

Gavin: I will put one time counter, on The War Doctor. Gavin: So that goes in my graveyard, and these three cards are in exile this turn, and I can play them. Then I will go ahead and draw for turn. Ooh, that’s a good draw too.

Gavin: Alright, well I’m going to start by playing this Mountain. This is going to be a big turn. Everyone, this is going to be a big turn. You have anything in response, Professor: Handy? Carmen: *fake coughs* Not in my handy. Professor and Carmen: *laughter* Gavin: *counting* 1, Professor: That was not an intentional pun.

Carmen: I don’t know what you’re talking about. Gavin: *continues counting* 2, Professor: Right, no, neither do I. Gavin: *finishes counting* 3. Gavin: I would like to play, Delayed Blast Fireball, from exile. Gavin: Delayed Blast Fireball deals 2 damage to each opponent, and each creature they control. Teferi: Oh good.

Gavin: If this spell was cast from exile, which it was, it deals 5 damage to each opponent, and each creature they control instead. Teferi: *sighs* Professor: Eek. Teferi: So close, Carmen: So, Teferi: yet so far. How f- How friendly do you think we are? Hypothetically? I just want to know, like, are we buds?

Are we, are we like Doctors in crime? Like, what’s the- I thought we were Doctors in crime. Carmen: We- Teferi: I hate you all, if anyone’s- Carmen: *whispering* We are- I mean, I like you. Also, my cards name is, The War Doctor,

*laughing* so that may give you a little bit of a clue into how I’m feeling today. I mean, what do you got? What do you got over there? You know what? You know what? I have a dead Baral. Gavin: *laughing* Okay, yeah, you’re fine. Gavin: So, you all take 5,

Teferi: Got a dead Jaxis. Gavin: and I think Ace, and the rhinos, are going to bite the dust. Gavin: But your Clara, and Seventh Doctor’s 6 toughness, saves the day there. Professor: Very nice there. Carmen: I fall to 31. Gavin: Yep. Gavin: Alright. So now here’s the big play.

Gavin: I’m gonna play a Sol Ring, okay. Gavin: Now here’s something very exciting, it’s very appropriate. Gavin: *counting* 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Gavin: I’m going to cast, The Day of the Doctor. Professor: Oh no. Gavin: This is the Saga for The War Doctor, so it’s very appropriate. Gavin: Here’s the first chapter:

Gavin: Exile cards from the top of your library, until you exile a legendary card. Gavin: You may play that card as long as the Day of the Doctor remains on the battlefield. Gavin: Put the rest of those cards on the bottom in any order. So I’m going to exile until I find a legendary card.

So for every card this exiles from my deck, The War Doctor will get a counter. Professor: *inhales deeply* Uugghhh. Gavin: Alright, let’s see how many until I find a legendary card. Teferi: *gulps* Gavin: Here we go. Gavin: *counting* 1, 2, Gavin: Alright, well that was way less satisfying than I was hoping.

Gavin: We went three deep, we found a Tavern Brawler. RNG is a cruel mistress. Gavin: Yup, could have been 40, could have been 3, But, you know, here we are. I’d say RND. Carmen: I was literally thinking the same thing. Professor: Oooh! Oh, you talk about Carmen like that? Carmen: Whooaahh, Professor: Wooww!

Carmen: These are all your cards, pal. Professor: *laughs* Gavin: Not Clara, apparently. Carmen: How- Carmen and Gavin: *laughs* Gavin: Okay- Carmen: Excuse me, sir? Sir? If you could- If you could put a die. Carmen: If you can mark, your chapters, Gavin: Alright. Alright. Carmen: I would- Gavin: Chapter one, chapter one.

Gavin: So, this Tavern Brawler is exiled, and for as long as it, as this remains on the battlefield, I can play that card. Professor: Alright. Gavin: So, The War Doctor will get three counters on it, Gavin: so it will go up to six counters. Professor: It already had three counters on it.

*Jerry Seinfeld impression* Well, What’s a few more? What’s a few more, you know? Professor: Six. Listen, Doctor is very big on counting. Yeah, Doctors love counting. Gavin: As our ability for math has clearly shown you so far. Professor: Nice. Okay. Now we’re gonna go to combat, and I’m gonna move these five Ozolith counters,

Teferi: Bluugh! Gavin: onto The War Doctor. Gavin: So, when he attacks, Professor: Oh my god. Gavin: he will get to do a bunch of damage somewhere. Gavin: It’s very exciting. Carmen: How much do you think that damage is gonna hurt me? Teferi: *laughs* That’s a great question. Gavin: [Sing-song voice] Uhhhh! Carmen: Or-

Carmen: Or Clara? I really just, really value Clara, Carmen: on my battlefield. Gavin: I was going to deal it to The Professor’s face, Gavin: as p- As a reward, Teferi: *chuckles* for all the great times he’s been giving me lately. Professor: Wow. Carmen: I’ve always thought the Doctor’s face was so, Carmen: just- Teferi: Punchable?

Carmen: Thank you. Professor: Why does everyone keep saying that? Professor: About- Carmen: Well- Teferi: I’m The Master. Professor: About The Doctor? Teferi: Well I’m just playing The Master, Carmen: I just said it- Teferi: I’m actually The Fifteenth Doctor. Carmen: I just said it on, I think,

Carmen: in some past life, Professor: In a past life. Carmen: or in an episode of something? Professor: Something. Carmen: I don’t know. Carmen: Great, enjoy your combat step. Teferi: *laughs* Gavin: Okay, well I’m glad my combat step will be enjoyable. Professor: So I take how much? Gavin: Well, here’s what we’re donna do.

Gavin: I’m gonna send Ryan Sinclair, at you. Teferi: Heeyy. Gavin: I’m gonna send The War Doctor, at my good friend, The Professor. Gavin: Ryan Sinclair is going to trigger, so, and this will trigger. Gavin: I will resolve Ryan Sinclair’s ability first, to see how many counters go on The War Doctor.

So, I will flip until I hit a nonland. Gavin: Which is one. *chuckles* Gavin: It doesn’t do anything, but I get a counter on The War Doctor, because I revealed one. Gavin: Boop! Gavin: Then, I will, exile your Baral from your graveyard. Teferi: Goodbye, Baral. Carmen: You’re so real for that. Gavin: Tragic, I know.

Gavin: Put another counter on it, and then this ability will resolve, and I will deal 13 damage to your face. Professor: How- 13? Gavin: 13! Professor: How absolutely- Carmen: Oh, what a great number. *laser sound effect* Gavin: Yeah. So that happens, good job War Doctor.

Professor: I go to 22. Carmen: That was pretty fam of you. Carmen: I- *laughs* Gavin: *laughs* Gavin: Yeah, it’s, It’s a little family drama, over here. You can block, with Clara, if you choose, but it won’t save you taking the rest of the damage, so you probably don’t want to do that.

Yeah, that’s why I didn’t do that. Professor: Or, no blocks. Gavin: No blocks, yeah, fair enough. Gavin: Okay. Well that’s what I got, that’s the small little play I had. Good work Ecstatic Beauty, and then I’ll pass over to you, my friend. I just want to notate, that at the end of the Saga, what happens?

Teferi: That didn’t get covered. Gavin: Oh yeah, I was gonna say. Teferi: I think it’s important to share. Gavin: So, we do three chapters, find three Doctors potentially, very fitting for The Day of the Doctor. Gavin: The fourth chapter is this: Gavin: Choose up to three Doctors, I may exile all other creatures.

Gavin: If I do, The Day of the Doctor deals 13 damage to me. So, I can kill off all non-Doctors, or all but three Doctors, and then I take 13 damage. But I can choose to do that, I don’t have to. It’s if I want to push the button or not.

It’s choose three, or up to three? Gavin: Choose up to three. Up to three. Gavin: Up to three, yeah, up to three. Teferi: Just wanted that on the table. Gavin: I could choose yours, I could choose yours. *secret voice* I’m not going to. I could choose yours. Alright, my turn.

That would not be very Team TARDIS of you. Carmen: *laughs* Gavin: Well, Gavin: Sorry Jodie, John Hurt is here right now. Teferi: I will play, the Command Beacon. Gavin: Okay. Teferi: [sing-song voice] I think I will play, Teferi: [regular voice] the Warchief Giant. Gavin: Alright, 5/3, haste, myriad.

Teferi: We’re moving to combat, Professor: Mhm. Teferi: we will also tick up Urabrask’s Forge, now we got a 4/1. So, I’m gonna swing out with a Warchief Giant. Warchief Giant has myriad, so I think I’m- Teferi: Carmen, I’m just gonna swing at you,

Teferi: it just seems to be what we’re doing. Carmen: No, it’s fine! Carmen: [strained voice] It’s so fine! Teferi: The thing is, you can block it, you’ll survive. Carmen: What about your 4 power Phyrexian? Teferi: I- That won’t swing at you, how about that? Carmen: Alright, Teferi: Right, see?

Carmen: that’s compromise. That’s compromise. Teferi: I feel fine. Carmen: We’re moving on. Teferi: So, the 4 power Phyrexian, will swing at, you Gavin. Gavin: Yeah, I’m pretty wide open. Teferi: Then you are taking the O.G. Warchief Giant. Carmen: Uhh, I will block it.

Teferi: The two of you will also take, each, the 5/3 copies of the Warchief Giant. Gavin: Except, you got a 2/6, right? Gavin: Clara? Professor: Yeah, I’ve got a 2/6, Teferi: Good to go! Professor: so, we’re going to block there, as well. Gavin: I regrettably did attack with everything,

So I’m going to take 9, and go to 20. Professor: Ooh. Teferi: Alright. Gavin: 20 life. Professor: You know, the candle that burns the brightest, burns the shortest. Gavin: I wanna burn longer. *laughs* Teferi: Well, you’re a Time Lord, Teferi: so maybe you’ll regenerate. Professor: You need a new set of regenerations.

Gavin: Oh no. Teferi: I pass the turn. Carmen: Alright, end of your turn, I will cast Errant, Street Artist. Carmen: So, this is flash, it’s defender, it’s haste, it’s 0, it’s 3, and I can tap 2 and tap it to copy one of my spells that wasn’t cast.

Gavin: Cooool. Carmen: Perhaps if I were to say, demonstrate a spell, Carmen: or something, I could copy that effect. Gavin: Woooow. It doesn’t have to be an instant or sorcery spell, right? Gavin: That could be creature that’s copied? Carmen: Correct. Gavin: Wow, okay. Carmen: Alright, and I’ll move to my turn.

Gavin: Yep, I feel like this might be a pretty big turn for you. Carmen: You know- Professor: Pretty big, pretty big. Gavin: Pretty big. Gavin: She’s going to very, very clever, you know? Gavin: Mmm, what’s gonna happen? Carmen: Alright, Gavin: Or not, you know? I’m gonna start off with Training Center,

Carmen: red/blue land. Carmen: Then tap, 5, for The Twelfth Doctor. Carmen: So, this is: The first spell I cast from not my hand each turn, has demonstrate. Carmen: Whenever I copy a spell, I get to put a counter on The Twelfth Doctor. Gavin: Right, and now the demonstrate does not double with Clara,

But the counter does, right? Carmen: Correct, Gavin: Okay. Carmen: correct. Then, I’m gonna tap 1, Carmen: and cast Crimson Wisps on The Twelfth Doctor, Gavin: Ooh! which is going to give him haste until end of turn, and let me draw a card. Gavin: Make him red. Don’t underestimate Crimson Wisps.

Professor: He was already red. Gavin: Yeah, but now- Professor: Double red? Gavin: Double red, yeah. I think that’s a kind of gum. It does a lot of things, Crimson Wisps. That’s true, that’s true. But, they’re quite ephemeral, unfortunately, and from there-

Carmen: You’ve been attacking me a lot this game, Teferi: I have, fair. Teferi: Fair is fair. Carmen: This is what we call turnabout, Carmen: here is 4 at ya. Teferi: Fair play. Alright. Carmen: I’m done. Professor: Alright. Gavin: That’s 4 commander damage, just in case. Teferi: Oh, good.

Gavin: The Twelfth Doctor could actually get somebody, given that he’s gonna grow. During your end step, I think it’s time that I do what many people have told me to do throughout my life, and that’s get a Clue, Professor: or in this case, crack a Clue.

Professor: I’m spending 2,I’m cracking, this Clue, to draw a card. Who in your life has told you to crack a clue? They’ve told me to get a clue, I should have said that when I got a Clue, Carmen: Well, you got a Clue, so- Professor: I messed it up,

Professor: THANK YOU CARMEN, THANK YOU CARMEN. Carmen: Okay, hold on, you have a turn coming up, you can do it, we can redeem this. Professor: Untap. Professor: It’s too late, don’t force it. Carmen: No, we’re going back in time. Professor: It’s not fun if you force it.

Professor: Alright, untap, Carmen: We’re using the future, Carmen: to fix the past! Professor: upkeep, Professor: *laughing* draw, Teferi: That’s my line. Professor: Oh, wow, this is spicy. Gavin: Ohhh, a little bit of spice over there. Professor: Okay, a little bit of spice, Professor: a little bit of spice. Teferi: Oh, is Beyonce back?

*laughs* Let us begin, with, Professor: *counting* 3, 4, 5, and 6, Professor: to bring Ace back into play. Teferi: Oh, good. Professor: Yup. For certain, we’re doing that. Professor: Then, Gavin, you got any blockers there? Gavin: I have no blockers. Professor: You have no blockers?

Gavin: No blockers. Professor: Would you like to play a game? *laughing* I’ve been playing a lot of games so far. Professor: I’m gonna move to declare attackers, The Seventh Doctor is coming your way, and thanks to Clara, Professor: triggers twice. Gavin: That’s true. We’re gonna play a little mini-game two more times.

You’re gonna attack me? Now, I’ve been very consistent in what I’ve said. Maybe, these folks will give you a much more renegade answer, that’s all I’m sayin. Professor: I’m attacking you. Gavin: Okay, alright, alright. Professor: You are the problem at the table. Gavin: Alright, alright.

Professor: You are the problem at the table. Teferi: Ugh. 4, 4 artifacts in play. Professor: Is that greater than, or lesser than, the number 4? I will, say, that I believe it is greater than 4. *inconspicuously* Alright, now say it. Professor: *inconspicuously* Now say get a Clue. Carmen: Alright, get a Clue.

It may or may not have been greater than, or less than 4. Teferi: We’re not done yet. Professor: We’re not done yet. Gavin: Yeah, we gotta do it a second time, Professor: We’ve got a second time. Gavin: Second time. Professor: and I might be picking- Gavin: Now you’ve got 5 artifacts. Professor: This is-

That’s synergy. Okay, now 5 is a tricky number, 5 is a tricky number. I thought 4 was the tricky number. 5 is an even trickier number. Teferi: Oh, okay. Carmen: That’s the funny thing, is all of these, Teferi: *chuckles* they’re all tricky. Gavin: That’s Doctor math for ya. Carmen: *laughs*

5, I’m sayi- Ugh. Alright, I’ll say it’s greater than 5. *laughing* Really? Gavin: Yeah. Professor: Really? Gavin: Alright, alright- Carmen: Woow. Teferi: Woow. Gavin: That’s it, that’s it. Professor: I wanted to get something big into play. *laughs* Gavin: Well, you know. Teferi: Not this time I’m afraid. Carmen: You’re a little greedy.

Professor: Radagast hits you for 3. Gavin: *laughing* I’ll got to 37, or 2- Teferi: That was so spectacular! Professor: Yes. Gavin: I’ll go to 17. Professor: Yes, yes, yes. Gavin: Maybe if you had attacked somebody, they might’ve guessed differently. Teferi: Might have guessed, on Radagast. Professor: Radagast done differently.

Professor: Oh, I pass the turn. Gavin: You pass the turn? Gavin: Leavin’ up 2 mana,  Professor: Yes. Professor: Yes, I’m leaving up 2, what a nice number. Teferi: Well, nice knowin’ ya. Carmen: Ahh, the blue player, Carmen: only 2 mana available. Professor: Yes, yes. Professor: Alright. Gavin: Okay,

Teferi: Hope is keeping us alive here. Gavin: The War Doctor- for a time. So, I will, draw my card. Don’t ever say that Bant, can’t. Gavin: Then, The Day of the Doctor will go to it’s second mode, Gavin: so I, once again, exile cards, until I exile a legendary card.

Gavin: We’ll see how many counters The War Doctor is about gonna accumulate. So currently, when it attacks it deals 13 damage. Teferi: Bad news. Gavin: Let’s see how much more it’s gonna do. Professor: *sharp inhale* Gavin: Alright, so it’s one card, two cards, three cards,

Gavin: four cards, a lot of lands, Five cards, six cards, seven cards, eight cards, nine cards, ten cards, eleven cards, Gavin: twelve cards, Professor: Will you please stop him! Gavin: thirteen cards, fourteen cards, Carmen: I don’t actually feel bad, Carmen: about my Gyruda thing anymore. Gavin: fifteen cards, sixteen cards,

Gavin: seventeen cards, eighteen cards, nineteen cards, twenty cards, twenty-one cards, twenty-two cards, twenty-three cards, twenty-four cards, twenty-five cards, twenty-six cards, twenty-seven cards, twenty-eight cards, twenty-nine cards, thirty cards. Gavin: Thirty-one cards, thirty-two cards, thirty-three cards, Gavin: thirty-four cards, *laughing* thirty-five cards, Carmen: We’re stuck in a time loop, Gavin: *laughing* thirty-six cards,

Carmen: I swear! Gavin: thirty-seven cards, Carmen: *laughing* This is- Gavin: thirty-eight cards, Teferi: *vocalizes Doctor Who theme* Gavin: thirty-nine cards, Carmen: I’ve seen this episode! Gavin: forty cards, Gavin: forty-one cards. Gavin: So I’ll get The Pandorica into my hand, and I will add forty-one counters, Gavin: to The War Doctor. Carmen: Wow, The Pandorica,

What a great idea, actually. Professor: We’re providing Decklists in the video description, only so you know what not to build, Professor: and what not to bring to your next Commander night. Gavin: *laughs* Carmen: Well, it’s actually really nice, if you watch the video, you can see Gavin’s entire deck. Professor: Yes.

Teferi: That’s true. Gavin: Alright, so I will- I’m gonna need some D20’s, if I could please get some D20’s? Do we have one that just says, “Lethal,” on it? Teferi: Yeah, Gavin: I’ve got at least twenty right here. Teferi: “You dare?” *laughs* Gavin: It was, 42.

Professor: We’re bringing some to you. Gavin: *mumbling* Alright, let me count them. Professor: Yes. The anwser is, 42, but that’s a different sci-fi series. [Music cuts out] Gavin: *counting* thirty-three, Professor: No one?! Teferi: No. Professor: Really?! Carmen: No, like I get the reference, but I- That ain’t me, you know?

Well 42, of course, the answer to life, Professor: I just did that! Gavin: the universe, and everything. Professor: No, don’t cut that! Don’t cut that out, because they were all talking. I did the sci-fi reference, and he’s tryin’- He’s a biter. He’s trying to take it from me. Alright, so when The War Doctor

Attacks, currently, Gavin: it will deal over 40 damage, to any target of my choice. Carmen: *laughs* Teferi: Alright. Alright. Gavin: We’ll see if I get a combat step. The Pandorica stays over here, I can cast it, Carmen: What are you looking at? Professor: Do something! Teferi: [High-pitched voice] Save us. Save us!

Carmen: What are you looking at? Professor: You’ve got blue in your deck! Teferi: [High-pitched voice] Save us! Carmen: Why did you- Professor: You’ve got mana open! Carmen: Did you just point at my 0/3, Teferi: [High-pitched voice] Save us. Carmen: and say you can do something

Carmen: *laughing* about it? Professor: No, you’ve got blue, Carmen: What am I supposed to do, Professor: you’ve got mana! Carmen: chuck- Carmen: Oh wait, oh, oh, oh. Hold on. Professor: Do spell. Cast a spell. Do some Magic! Teferi: Spell something! Carmen: I remember this from a past life, I remember.

Carmen: You’ve got blue mana! Do something! Professor: Yeah- Teferi: Do a magics. Gavin: Okay, well I’m going to get a little bit of protection here, for this. I’m gonna pay 1, I’m gonna attach Robe of Stars, Gavin: to my War Doctor. Professor: Oh, my god.

Gavin: Which will allow for me to pay 2 mana to make it phase out, in case anybody has anything. Carmen: I will respond. Others: *shocked laughter* Carmen: Y’all owe someone. Professor: I owe you. I owe you. Teferi: I owe you. I owe you. Carmen: Y’all owe someone.

Professor: Yes. Carmen: I will Gi- Cast Gigadrowse, with replicate one time. Teferi: *chuckles* Carmen: So, this lets me tap anything. Teferi: *chuckles* Gavin: Okay. Carmen: I, replicated it, which means, Professor: *giggles* I get to tap one more thing, so, I’m going to tap your War Doctor, as well as Ryan Sinclair,

Gavin: Okay. Carmen: to stop your combat step. Gavin: Alright, my combat is stopped for the turn. Carmen: Because I copied a spell, I get to put a counter on The Twelfth Doctor, and then that ability triggers again, Gavin: Nice. Carmen: which puts another counter on The War Doctor to-

Carmen: Excuse me, The Twelfth Doctor. Gavin: War Doctor has enough counters. Professor: Yeah. Okay, well that will put an end to my shenanigans for a turn. Professor: *deep inhale and exhale* Gavin: Robe of Stars will resolve though, Carmen: That is true. Gavin: I will hook that to The War Doctor,

Gavin: so I can phase him out. Carmen: I did what I could, gang. Professor: Alright. Teferi: You did, pretty well, Carmen: I did what I could, fam. Teferi: You did a great job. Gavin: So let’s do- Professor: How much life are you at, Gavin? Gavin: I’m at, 17.

Can we all just agree to take him out? Because, if he untaps, he can one-shot people, can we just send everything at him? 17, this should be doable! Gavin: Alright, Teferi: We’ll see what happens.

Professor: Well, he can go at least as high as 15. Gavin: Alright, well here’s what I’m going to do. Gavin: I’m going to go- Teferi: Because I’m The Fifteenth Doctor, that’s why. Yes, they get that though, they get it! They’re watching! Teferi: They’ll get it in post! Others: *laughter*

I’m gonna play a bunch of- Now, I’m gonna play a couple goofy cards. Here’s some goofy boys for you. I’m gonna play, one of my favorite, an all-timer, Professor: *sighs* Gavin: truly an all-time Magic: the Gathering card, Professor: Yes. Gavin: The Orcish Librarian. Professor and Gavin: *laughter* Gavin: Now, if you don’t know

This heater of a Magic card, I love this card, red, tap: Look at the top eight cards of your library. Exile four of them at random, and put the other back on top of your library in any order. When this card was printed, Sylvester McCoy was still The Doctor on TV,

Professor: that’s how old it is. Gavin: *laughs* Gavin: Alright, I’ll tap 2 mana, and I’ll play Magmatic Channeler. Gavin: It’s a 1/3, its first ability work right now, it’s not on, but I can discard a card, exile my top two cards, and play one of them this turn. Gavin: More exiling. Gavin: Then I’m gonna pay,

*counting* 1, 2, Gavin: for a Lightning Greaves. Professor: Mmm. Gavin: Equipped creature has haste, and shroud. Professor: Mmm. I’m gonna, I’ve already got the Robe of Stars on here, so I can protect him already. I’m just gonna go ahead and give these Greaves to one of my blockers,

Which I very much might need, to be able to get in the way. Gavin: I’ll give it to my Magmatic Channeler, who I can also tap and exile, if I need to. Gavin: Tap, and discard a card to exile.

That is going to be my turn, I’m going to keep my fingers crossed, go for it. Alright. Carmen: Alright, big turn, big turn. Teferi: We’ll see. *synth noises* Alright, [Sing-song voice] I’m gonna play this, [Regular voice] Reliquary Tower. Teferi: I will cast my commander, The Master, Multiplied.

Teferi: The Master has myriad, the ‘legend rule’ doesn’t apply to creature tokens I control. Teferi: Triggered abilities I control don’t cause me to sacrifice, or exile, creature tokens I control. Who am I attacking? I guess I’m attacking Gavin, Teferi: cause you seem to be the threat here. Gavin: *sucks air through teeth*

Teferi: I will tick up Urabrask’s Forge, to 5, thus creating a Phyrexian Horror. Teferi: Since The Master, Multiplied is in play, I will leave this counter on it, designating that it is currently a 5/1. Oh my gosh, it’s not going to go away at the end of the turn!

No, it will stick around. Forever! Wait, all the myriad ones will too. Gavin: Yeah, and they will have myriad themselves, Teferi: Oh, right. Gavin: so they will propagate again next turn. Professor: Oh my god. Teferi: Should they survive through the next round. Teferi: I mean should I survive. Professor: Well.

Alright, and these are each of the, tokens that will be created by the Warchief Giant, Teferi: swinging at you, Gavin: Uugh. Teferi: Gavin Verhey. Gavin: Oh no. Teferi: Therefore, the copies will also attack you two as well, but you two both have Clara’s, who has a big ol’ butt, and will survive.

Teferi: The attacks, shall commence. Gavin: Who’s getting that Phyrexian Horror? Gavin: Just asking for- Teferi: You! Gavin: Ah, well, Teferi: Gavin Verhey, Carmen: *laughs* Gavin: It would be me. Teferi: just like last turn, only 1 more point of damage. Carmen: What a good question. *laughs* Teferi: So, Gavin: Well, it was worth asking.

Teferi: that looks like, if last turn was any indication, that you’ll be taking, Teferi: 10 damage. Gavin: 10 damage. Teferi: If you, elect not to block. Gavin: *sucks air through teeth* Teferi: You’ve got, two more opponents, here. Gavin: Jeez. Gavin: Yeah, I think, we’re going

Gavin: to do a little bit of blocking. Teferi: A little bit of blocksies? Carmen: I plan to partake in blocking, so- Teferi: Okay. Teferi: Oh yeah, Carmen: *laughs* Teferi: and you too, have some blocking. Gavin: Now the 5/1 has trample, Teferi: It has twamples. Gavin: which is a real bummer.

Gavin: So, I’m gonna have the Orcish Librarian block the Warchief Giant, sorry Orcish Librarian. Teferi: Sounds good. Gavin: I love you, Teferi: Yup. Gavin: but you gotta go. Teferi: [Warchief Giant voice] Me hate books. Carmen: *laughs* Gavin: *laughing* I’ll take 5, from the Phyrexian Horror, Carmen: *laughs*

Teferi: Alright. Gavin: and go down to 12. Teferi: As you have said, the tokens which would normally disappear, and poof out of existence, will in fact, stick around. I will, pass the turn. The wild thing too, is, that’s a one time trigger, at the end of combat,

Gavin: so now even if The Master leaves, Teferi: They’re stuck. they’ll still be in play, so. Carmen: Well, I didn’t even realize that, that is sick. Professor: Gavin’s very proud of The Master, Teferi: Did you create The Master? Professor: was that one you-

Gavin: I am very happy with that card, yeah. Teferi: Aww, thank you Gavin. The Time Lords did create The Master, Professor: as we learned in The End of Time, Part 2. Teferi: That’s true. So, you know, by putting the sound of drums in his head, as a way to have a beacon so that

Professor: Gallifrey can escape the time lock. Carmen: *drums on the table* Professor: But, so that is very on flavor. Carmen: *continues drumming on the table* Teferi: Spoiler alert, Professor: Anyway, yes. Teferi: The Sound of Drums is on the stack. Carmen: *drumming away* Professor: Right, yes. [Background music stops] Carmen: *just keeps on tapping*

Teferi: *summons the Doctor Who theme* Teferi: *summons the Doctor Who theme* Gavin: *vocalizes the Doctor Who theme* Professor: He will knock, four times. Teferi: *summons the Doctor Who theme* Gavin: *vocalizes the Doctor Who theme* Teferi and Gavin: *vocalize the Doctor Who theme together* You’re welcome.

Gavin: Apologies to all of our sound people. Professor: Yes. [Background music resumes] How- Is it? Carmen: It didn’t feel- Teferi: I’m not sorry at all. Gavin: What a villain, what a true villain. Teferi: *villainous laugh* Teferi: Oh, and I have a moustache! I can twirl it.

Carmen: Alright, I’m gonna *laughing* draw for turn. Professor: Grew a moustache, for this episode. Teferi: Just for this, Teferi: just for you! Gavin: Wow, that’s dedication. Teferi: Hairy slug on my face. Carmen: I’m gonna play a land, and then I’m gonna attack Gavin for 6. *sighs* Teferi: Seems good.

Gavin: Alright, Magmatic Channeler, I think we need to preserve our life total, Gavin: so Magmatic Channeler will go ahead and block The Twelfth Doctor. Carmen: Great. Gavin: Alright, goodbye Magmatic Channeler. Carmen: Alright, that’s what I got, go. Professor: Ah, mm! What I got, is two open mana, to crack a

Clue, draw a card, see if that helps any. That might, not do me any good at all. Then we’re going to untap, boink. Gavin: How many cards are in your hand, Carmen? Carmen: Two. Gavin: Two cards, alright. Teferi: Hmmm. Gavin: Okay. Teferi: Hmmm. Hmmmm. Carmen: They’re cards. Gavin: I believe you.

Professor: Alright, you don’t have any blockers, do you? Gavin: I am blockerless. You are blockerless. Professor: Everything is coming at you, Gavin: Yeah, that makes sense. Professor: Gavin. Professor: We’ve got a double trigger off of The Seventh Doctor, and we’ve got a trigger off of Ace.

Professor: I am going to sacrifice, an artifact, this clue. Gavin: Yep. Now, here’s the question, Doctor. Do you want to sacrifice, which of these do you want to happen first? Do you want to have more artifacts in play, for The Seventh Doctor? Or do you want to go down on artifacts,

Gavin: before The Seventh Doctor ability happens? Professor: Given how many artifacts- Professor: Given- Gavin: Hmm. Professor: I- I’m not giving away information. Gavin: *laughs* You saw through my ruse! Teferi: Doctor versus Doctor! Carmen: *laughs* Professor: Or did you fall for mine? Gavin: Ah, clearly you must

Gavin: choose The Doctor or me. Professor: I’m such a- I’ve got Professor: a great poker face. Carmen: Inconceivable! Carmen and Gavin: *laughter* Teferi: Only time will tell. Professor: So, the fight is, I can get rid of Ryan. Gavin: Yeah, Ryan, is gonna perish. Professor: Yep.

Gavin: Ryan is gonna go back to my command zone. Alright, guessing game. Professor: You still have to play my guessing game. Gavin: Guessing game us. Professor: I currently have, *counting* 1, 2, 3, 4. Gavin: 4 artifacts, Professor: 4 artifacts in play, Gavin: that’s a good number.

Professor: it’s a good number. Teferi: Not as good as 5. Professor: Higher, or lower. Gavin: *nervously exhales* Wow, so no matter what, I’m taking, *counting* 6, 7, 8 points of damage, Gavin: I’m going to go to 4. Teferi: Yes. I can not let you get 4 points of damage on me, or I lose.

But, I’m still gonna go with my instincts here, I’m still going to say, Gavin: it is higher. Professor: “Higher-less” Tracker. Gavin: Ohh, okay, a free Tireless Tracker, very good. Professor: Eh. Teferi: *laughs* Gavin: Alright, and then we will play the guessing game one more time. Again! Again!

Teferi: Wrong- Carmen: Have this one be a deal 4 kinda spell. Professor: Deal 4 would be lovely. Professor: I will still go higher. Professor: Goddamn it Gavin. Gavin: *laughs* Teferi: Such a good guesser. Professor: Why can’t you, vary up your answers! Gavin: *laughs*

Well it’s just, I don’t want you to play the big thing. Professor: I had no- Gavin: You got me with the Gavin: Crashing Footfalls, but never again. Professor: I had no ability. I had no ability. Carmen: Yeah, I didn’t think this was a choice. If you could kill him, I think  Professor: Yeah.

Carmen: you would have done it. Professor: Yeah, I had no ability. Gavin: Alright, so I’m gonna take- Professor: Here’s the thing, I can sacrifice Professor: my Commander’s Sphere, right now, Gavin: Yep. Professor: and maybe I’ll draw a pump spell. Professor: I am gonna actually tap it,

Before I sac it, for a mana floating. Professor: Luckily there’s no mana burn anymore, or unfortunately. Professor: *sighs* Alright, and then, I’m gonna actually add a mana, to that, with this Forest, Gavin: Uhh. Professor: sacrifice a Clue, Gavin: No pump spell, no pump spell. Professor: I get a +1/+1.

Carmen: Pump, pump, pump, pump. Gavin: No, no way to deal extra damage. You gotta be kidding me. Alright, alright, alright. Professor: All in, all or nothing. Profesor: Let’s do that Sol Ring, Professor: sacrifice this Clue, Gavin: Yep. Professor: another counter on Tireless Tracker. Gavin: Alright. Professor: Draw a card, Professor: Hm!

Professor: Unnhh. Carmen: Tell me, tell me it happened! *inhales through teeth* It did not. Gavin: Wow, okay. Teferi: Valiant effort. Carmen: It was a simple request, I don’t- Professor: Damage is dealt, Gavin: Alright, so Gavin: *counting* 3, 6, I got to 4. Professor: Right. Now, there’s also two

Myriad copies coming at my allied Doctors, I hope they realize I could not opt not to do this. Professor: This is- I Professor: don’t care if you kill the myriad copies. Teferi: That’s fine, that’s alright. Alright, then I’m gonna go ahead and second main phase, tap for, Professor: *counting* 1, 2, 3, 4,

We’ve got a blue and a white, Professor: and that means we’re bringing in Sally Sparrow. Gavin: Huh. Professor: I may now cast creature spells as if they had flash. Teferi: Whoah. Professor: Whenever one or more other creatures Professor: I control leave the battlefied, investigate. Professor: This abiity triggers only once each turn. Teferi: Ooh.

Teferi: That’s a good card. Professor: That’s a good card, Sally Sparrow was a good, I feel honorary Companion, even if mechanically, not. Professor: I will stand by that. Teferi: Fair enough. Carmen: Reasonable. Professor: I pass the turn. Teferi: And forfeit your life. Gavin: Okay.

Professor: I did not yet, he might kill you. Teferi: That’s true. Gavin: Alright, well I’m going to, I think I just need the card at this point, Gavin: so I’m gonna sacrifice Relic of Progenitus, to exile everyone’s graveyards. Teferi: Ooh. Carmen: Two. Teferi: One. Gavin: I will draw a card. Professor: Two.

Professor: Are we counting for a reason? Gavin: Counting is fun. Professor: Oh. Gavin: Draw a card Carmen: Oh, I thought it might count for The War Doctor, I’m gonna be honest. Gavin: Uh, nah. Professor: Normally at this point, I would ask if you read the card, but there’s so many counters on the card!

I’m gonna draw, I’m gonna go to my turn and draw a card. Then The Day of the Doctor will trigger it’s third chapter, Professor: Oh my god. Gavin: and hopefully I hit a legendary. Teferi: The third chapter. Professor: Oh my god. Teferi: Even bigger folks. Gavin: Alright, looking for a legendary card.

Carmen: I’m gonna get comfortable. Gavin: 4, I hit Laelia, the Blade Reforged. Carmen: Oh, nice! Gavin: Excuse me! More Gavin: dice please, more dice please. Professor: Oh my god. Carmen: You know what? This will- Teferi: Oh dice boy! Carmen: Alright, you actually have a spare D20. Gavin: Oh, I do from the life-

Others: *laughter* Gavin: Alright. Professor: Dice boy. Gavin: Alright, there we go. Gavin: Laelia will go underneath The Day of the Doctor, and then I’m going to attempt to equip Lightning Greaves to The War Doctor. Gavin: Any responses? Carmen: Nope. Teferi: No response. Professor: Nope. Gavin: Okay. So The War Doctor, when it attacks,

It will deal 59 damage, to a target of my choice. The Lightning Greaves doesn’t stop Cyclonic Rift, right? Gavin: Lightning Greaves does not stop Cyclonic Rift. Teferi: That’s right. Carmen: Hypothetically. Teferi: In theory. Gavin: Hypothetically speaking. Teferi: Like I don’t have one, but- Gavin: But if you did. I’m gonna go to combat.

Teferi: Okay. Carmen: Why are you looking at me? Gavin: I’m gonna go to combat. Professor: Yeah. Gavin: Can I declare an attacker? Carmen: Yup. Teferi: Yup. Professor: Yup. So now, now that I’m guaranteed to get an attack in, because you cannot respond, Carmen: *sighs* Gavin: I’m gonna talk through my threat assessment at this point.

Gavin: Carmen only has two cards in her hand, she does have a great board though, with Clara, and The Twelfth Doctor, so that’s pretty scary. Carmen: I have eights of power. Gavin: You have eights of power. I’m also at 4 life, keep in mind I’m at 4 life, so I have to be very,

Very careful, with whatever happens next. Gavin: If I deal the damage to you, you’ve got a pretty good board too, you’re playing a little guessing game, you got a grip full of cards, you’ve got Ace and Auton, you’re gonna, probably smash me and deal some damage to me, so I’m kinda worried about that.

Gavin: *sucks air through teeth* However you, are definitely going to kill me on your next turn, because of the myriad copies. So I feel like- Teferi: What if I chose, not to attack? Gavin: Interesting, yes, because I can kill somebody, but then I will likely die afterwards.

So I need someone, I need to make Gavin: a deal with somebody here. Teferi: A deal with The Master, Doctor? Gavin and Carmen: *laughter* Teferi: I won’t swing, and I won’t Teferi: kill you, and you won’t kill me. Gavin: Now, you’ve got these myriad copies, so you

Attack with any of your creatures, with myriad, I will die. Teferi: I won’t attack, with any of the myriad creatures. Gavin: Will you attack me, or deal damage to me, Teferi: I will not attack you next turn, Gavin: in any fashion?

Teferi: I will not attack you next turn. Gavin: Will you do 4 damage to me in any fashion? Teferi: I will not do 4 damage to you, in any fashion, next turn. Teferi: You have Teferi’s Protection, over you. Carmen: Wait, you have multiple

Carmen: ways to block myriad creatures. Gavin: Well yeah, I could play a creature. Are you just not gonna cast spells after you attack? Carmen: What kind of deal is this? Teferi: I’ll play my one creature. Carmen: You have, what is this? Gavin: This is an enchantment. That’s tough. All: *laugh*

Carmen: You have Ryan Sinclair! All: *laugh* Teferi: I’m just- Gavin: I don’t know how you feel about if I block with enchantments, it gets very difficult, very quickly. Teferi: This isn’t Theros. Carmen: Listen, I don’t- *laughs* I won’t swing with any myriad creatures, you will not receive any damage from me next round. Wow.

Alright Master, it’s you and me. *laughs* Carmen: No! Professor: Wooooww. Carmen: You never make Carmen: a deal with The Master! Professor: What the hell. Carmen: You can’t make a deal with The Master. Gavin: The War Doctor goes places. Gavin: Alright everybody. Carmen: Hoooly- Teferi: Welcome to the ‘Doc’ side. Alright, very good.

So I can attack anybody, then deal the damage where I choose. Gavin: I will, just, attack you Carmen, and when I do, I will deal, 59- You have the most life, I believe this is correct? Professor: Not anymore. Carmen: Well, really, Carmen: we all have 1 life right now. Gavin: *laughs* I will deal-

Teferi: I regenerate mine. Gavin: Carmen, take 59 to the face. Carmen: Understandable, have a nice day. [sound effects] *heavy laser beam* Carmen: *laughs* [sound effects] *heavy laser beam* Gavin: Aaalright! Teferi: Sorry. Gavin: Maybe you’ll regenerate into Gavin: something else, who’s to say really. Carmen: *laughs*

Gavin: But Clara still sticks around, as the Auton Soldier. May I have the Clara card so I can actually read it? Carmen: Oh, yeah, Professor: *laughs* Carmen: here you go. Professor: *still laughing* Thank you. Okay, then, I think I’m gonna have to play a few other cards.

I will try and stay alive here, I’m gonna play, Laelia, the Blade Reforged. Gavin: Which can maybe do some real blocking work for me. Professor: You’re gonna need it. Gavin: I’m gonna play, tap 3 mana, I will play The Pandorica, off of The Day of the Doctor.

Gavin: I can choose to not untap it, during my untap step, then I can pay 1 and a white to untap another nonland permanent, and it phases out. Gavin: It can’t phase in for as long as The Pandorica remains tapped, when it becomes untapped, that phases in.

Basically it locks something inside The Pandorica, for as long as The Pandorica is around. Gavin: Makes sense. Carmen: The greatest threat to the universe. Gavin: I will pay- Professor: It’s Gavin. Carmen: Thank you. Professor: Yeah. Gavin: I will pay 2 mana, and The Pandorica is going to lock somebody up,

And I think we’re gonna lock up, Ace, Fearless Rebel. Professor: Boo. Gavin: Okay, so we’re gonna exile, or she gets phased out, so she keeps her counters. Gavin: I did phase something out, so I will put an even 60 counters on The War Doctor. Then I will play, Spinerock Knoll,

Gavin: look at my top four cards. Teferi: It’s like, Rock paper scissors, Teferi: Spine rock knoll. Carmen: *laughs* Gavin: I’m going to, put this under the Spinerock Knoll, I did put one or more cards into exile, so I’ll put another counter on The War Doctor, Carmen: Hooly- Gavin: and a counter on Laelia.

I want to keep the Greaves on my War Doctor, I think given what’s going on here, maybe? Gavin: I might just have to put it on Laelia to help get a bit of extra protection, there. Gavin: So, I’ll put that on Laelia, the Blade Reforged, and that is going to be my turn, Master.

Gavin: You are up. Teferi: *evil chuckle* Gavin: Oh, no. Carmen: Say his name. Carmen: Say it again. Teferi: I honor my deals, Doctor. Teferi: At the end of your turn, I will cycle Canyon Slough, for 2. I will draw a card, and I will untap. I will draw a card for turn.

Teferi: *laughs* Gavin: Oh no, I don’t like that. Teferi: I really, really want to do this, but, Gavin: You can d- You should do it! Teferi: *sighs* Gavin: You are The Master, Gavin: you are the master of chaos. Teferi: No, the other evil plan was good too,

Teferi: but this is a good one as well. Gavin: Okay. Teferi: So, I’m going to play Haunted Ridge, for my turn. It’s funny when your evil plans multiply, as if they myriad of their own, you know? Teferi: I’m going to move to combat, therefore ticking up Urabrask’s Forge,

Teferi: I will honor our bargain, Doctor. Gavin: Very, very good. Teferi: I will create yet another, Phyrexian Horror, I don’t have another Phyrexian Horror. Professor: *laughing* We don’t have another Phyrexian Horror. Teferi: Because no one anticipated Teferi: that I would make another one! Professor: Here, you can use-

Gavin: You can use a Copy token. Professor: You can use this Copy token, Teferi: Alright, thank you. Professor: of another Phyrexian Horror. Professor: You see, because it’s Jace, Phyrexian Horror, because he go Phyrexianized, anyways. Teferi: [Nasal voice ]Oh, we love a theme. Professor: Yes. Teferi: Alright. Others: *laughs* Teferi: Right, moving to combat,

I will honor our bargain, as I said, and I will only swing with my trampling Phyrexian Horrors. Teferi: It’s a total of 11 trample damage, coming to you. Professor: 11 trample damage, let me ask you a few questions here, Master. Teferi: Yes sir. Professor: Are you going to, if I work

To destroy Gavin on my turn, your agreement does not prohibit you from helping me destroy Gavin. Teferi: I believe that is the truth. Professor: I’m feeling like I’m going Professor: to take the 11, Teferi: Mhm. Professor: Cause I don’t want to lose, the only way I’m gonna kill Gavin, is with everything.

Professor: So, I take 11? Teferi: You take 11. Gavin: But then, who will you lose to? Professor: I’m gonna die, yeah. Professor: But- See this just got me in a really bad spot Teferi: Funny how that works. Gavin: *laughs* Oh no. Teferi: Your turn!

Gavin: You should leave all of your mana untapped. Carmen: It helps, Teferi: Yes. Carmen: all the myriad creatures basically Carmen: don’t do anything if there’s only one opponent. Professor: Right. Gavin: Well, except for attack. Carmen: Well, they- Carmen: Details. Gavin: Yeah, details, you know.

If you let me live, I can kill him on my turn. With The War Doctor. Professor: If I let you live, you’ll kill him- Gavin: I kill him with The War Doctor, you have- Professor: Then I kill you. Carmen: That’s a good deal, we have to stop The Master!

Professor: *laughs* Gavin: I mean, I might play some blockers, but I will Gavin: not hurt your stuff, I’ll just kill off his stuff. Professor: *sucks air through his teeth* Teferi: Why? Gavin: Maybe kill his entire- Carmen: Because, all three of us- Teferi: But, why do that?

Why not just let things progress, as they should? We struck a deal. Gavin: Yeah, how are you going to kill him? Professor: Why would you kill me? Teferi: We struck a deal, in protecting you. Gavin: No you- For the one turn, yeah. Teferi: Exactly. Carmen: This situation is a Paradox,  Teferi: So why-

We’re not going to remember this, and if The Master gets away, he’ll wreak havoc on all of time. Professor: I’m gonna start by playing an Overgrown Farmland, and that is going to create a Clue. Gavin: Nice work, Tireless Tracker. Professor: You’re gonna die.

What?! What- How are you going to kill him, if you kill me? Professor: Moving to declare attackers. Gavin: Alright, declare attackers. Professor: Alright, I’m attacking, Professor: Gavin. Gavin: What?! Professor: With Sally Sparrow, Gavin: Okay. Professor: Seventh Doctor, and Tireless Tracker. Professor: Trigger, Seventh Doctor, twice, Gavin: Yeah. Professor: because of Clara. I have,

*counting* 1, 2, 3, artifacts in play. Gavin: So, you’re gonna kill me no matter what? Because, I can only block one of them, and I’m gonna take 5 and die. Gavin: Now you want me to play your guessing game? Professor: Yeah,

Professor: I want you to play the guessing game. Gavin: You want me to play the guessing game? Professor: You do have to guess. Gavin: I do have to guess, Professor: Twice. Gavin: I do have to guess. Professor: Whether you live or die. Gavin: So, I am guaranteed dead. You know what though?

I want to see a Doctor take it down. Teferi: What? Gavin: So, I will say, for the first time this game, I believe it is lower. Lower than 2 artifacts. Gavin: Ooh! Angel of the Ruins! Professor: Angel of the Ruins. Professor: When Angel of the Ruins enters the battlefield, exile up to two target

Professor: artifacts and/or enchantments. Gavin: So, Professor: So this is now in play, Gavin: you wreak havoc. Okay. Professor: and I can exile two artifacts and/or enchantments. Professor: So we’re gonna exile the Phyrexian machine thing. Teferi: Urabrask’s Forge, exiled. Professor: Urabrask’s Forge, Professor: is gone. Professor: Then let’s get rid of the, Teferi: Thought Vessel.

Professor: Thought Vessel. Gavin: Okay. Professor: Okay. Carmen: Hey, your War Doctor Carmen: gets counters, Gavin. Gavin: Whoo! Carmen: That’s so cool! Professor: Second trigger. Gavin: Okay, second trigger. I will say, lower yet again, if it is higher, you can play it. Gavin: Ooh! The Lunar Hatchling.

Professor: The Lunar Hatchling, it’s a 6/6 flying trample! Carmen: It’s free! Professor: It’s free. Gavin: Okay. Professor: Attacks proceed. Gavin: Well, *sighs* it’s sad to go like this, The War Doctor is in such a great position, but I will, I’ll block here, I will take 5, and I will perish!

So this will die, you’ll get- The Pandorica will go away, so Ace will come back in untapped and under your control. Professor: Very nice. All of my stuff is finished. The War Doctor tried his best. We Doctor’s, worked together, to defeat The Master. Professor: That is what happened here. Gavin: Well, we certainly tried to-

Professor: Or at least we’re going to. Carmen: Well, Professor: Unless I screw it up, somehow. Teferi: You never know Professor: We’ll- We’re gonna find out. Teferi: time will tell. Time will tell. Time has told. Gavin: You’ve got a bunch of blockers now, so. Professor: I do have a bunch of blockers,

Professor: I have a bunch of mana, I’ve got a Clue, I kinda want to keep that Clue. Professor: Pass turn. Teferi: Alright, I will untap, I will draw, for turn. *chuckles* I will play Rakdos Carnarium, bringing back the Temple of Malice, to my hand.

So, now The Master is at his weakest, because myriad stuff is not going to work anymore. Gavin: So, at least you got that going for ya. Teferi: One on one, mass destruction would have Teferi: been delicious, but, unfortunately- Gavin: Master versus Doctor, Gavin: just as it should be, I suppose. Teferi: Moving to combat.

Professor: Yes? Teferi: Swinging with the team. Professor: Alright. Professor: Okay, so I am gonna crack this Clue, just in case I draw a creature. Professor: My Tracker gets a counter, Professor: and I drew a creature, Teferi: Hey! Professor: which I’m gonna play, just because I need a blocker.

Professor: Now, does all this have trample? Teferi: No, Professor: What’s going on? None of it. Teferi: Just two- Gavin: *laughs* Professor: I’m gonna flash in K-9. Teferi: What does K-9 do? Carmen: Affirmative! Professor: Affirmative. Professor: As long as K-9, Mark I is untapped, other legendary creatures I control have ward 1,

And I can tap it, w- Blah bluh blah blah blah. It’s dying. K-9 is a chump blocker. Professor: I block the Angel of the Ruins on the 6/1, Clara is going to block the 5/1, the Lunar Hatchling is gonna block the Warchief Giant, and then I throw K-9 under

The bus, on the other Warchief Giant. Professor: Then Ace is going to die, Professor: heroically, blocking The Master. Teferi: She will trade with The Master. Professor: Very well done Ace. Teferi: Alright, in that case, you take 5. Professor: Alright. Teferi: I cast Toxic Deluge. Professor: Oh my god. Teferi: As an additional cost

To cast Toxic Deluge, pay X life. Teferi: I will pay 6 life, Professor: Mhm. Teferi: which should destroy every living thing. Professor: That is going to kill everything. Teferi: Yes. But, you know, Time Lords have a funny little trick. Teferi: What’s that? Professor: It’s called, Professor: Regeneration. Gavin: Ooooohh! Teferi: No! Professor: In response,

Until end of turn, target Time Lord you control gains, “When this creature dies, reveal cards from the top of my library, until I reveal a Time Lord creature card. Professor: Put that creature onto the battlefield, and the rest onto the bottom of my library in a random order.”

Teferi: In which case, everything does die. Professor: Yes. Teferi: But you, Doctor, are going to come Teferi: back to live another day. Professor: Yes. Professor: Now, who does Sylvester McCoy regenerate into? Gavin: *laughs* Professor: Reverse regeneration! Reverse regeneration. Others: *laughter* Carmen: I remember this episode. Professor: Alright, If Colin Baker,

If Colin Baker can save the day here, it will do his character, and actor, justice. Professor: This is a 3/3, with Time Lord’s Prerogative: Professor: Whenever you cast a historic spell, copy it, except the copy isn’t legendary. Professor: This is no good to me. This ability triggers only once each turn.

Oh my god, this is useless. Professor: Just like The Sixth Doctor! Gavin: Whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah. Gavin: Such a Seventh Doctor thing to say, right there. Professor: Yes, yes, yes. Professor: Are you- Teferi: Pass turn. Professor: Ooh, you’re not bringing any things in? Teferi: No, there’s nothing else to do.

Teferi: I’m too expensive. Professor: You’re too *laughing* expensive. Gavin: *laughs* Classic Master problem. Teferi: Yeah, right? Professor: Classic Master problem. Okay, untap, upkeep, draw- Oh my god. Professor: Okay, it’s time for Doctors, Doctors, Doctors, Teferi: *chuckles* Professor: lots of Doctors. Professor: We’re gonna go, *counting* 2, 3,

And then we’re gonna pay the tax here, to bring in, The Seventh Doctor, and get a copy, of The Seventh Doctor. Teferi: Too many Doctors. Professor: Too many Doctors. Teferi: Private practice. Gavin: I remember this episode. Carmen: Whoah! I love it when there are three Doctors!

Gavin: *laughing* Yeah, yeah. Professor: This is the three Doctors, unfortunately, these Doctors do not have haste, move to declare attackers, Professor: swing at you for 3? Teferi: No blocks. Professor: Didn’t play a land this turn, we’re gonna go ahead and drop a Plains, tap 2, for a Mycosynth Wellspring. Professor: When it enters the battlefield,

Or is put into the graveyard from the battlefield, you may search your library for a basic land card, reveal it, put it into your hand. I’ll go ahead, and we’ll just grab, a Forest. Gavin: One of the things we found in design a lot, is we’d be like, “I remember that episode! Of course that happened.”

Here we are, it’s like, “Remember the time when The Sixth Doctor created two copies of The Seventh Doctor?” Professor: No, no. The Sixth Doctor met The Second Doctor, and the two Doctors. Gavin: Yeah, yeah, you got that card in there too. Carmen: Well no, this one was just lost in Professor: Very pro-

Carmen: a fire, it’s- Gavin: Yes. Professor: Alright. Professor: This is one of the ones lost in a fire. Gavin: Remember in this episode, when The Seventh Doctor regenerated back into The Sixth Doctor, and then made two more Seventh Doctors. Professor: God. Carmen: Oh, that was a classic! Carmen: Classic Who. Gavin: Classic Who, yeah.

Gavin: Classic Doctor Who. Professor: What an absurd idea, going back to a previous Doctor. That is completely against everything that ever happened in Doctor Who. Only here could that happen. Carmen: What are you trying to say? Professor: I’m not trying to say-

Professor: I’m trying to say I pass the turn. Teferi: Thank you. Teferi: At the end of your turn, Professor: Yes? Teferi: I will, sacrifice my Command Beacon, to bring The Master form the command zone, into my hand. Professor: Ahh, The Master is a Time Lord as well,

Professor: has a funny habit of coming back from death. Teferi: I will draw for turn, Professor: Cheating death. Yes. Teferi: I will play the Temple of Malice, scrying. Teferi: I will put this at the bottom. Professor: *chuckles* Gavin: Don’t want that one, huh? Teferi: I’ve had a lot of those, this game.

Teferi: I will play The Master, Multiplied, Carmen: *drums fingers on table* Teferi: from my hand- Carmen: *keeps drumming fingers* Professor: So, you know what’s so cool about that, is that it’s also the Doctor Who theme. Professor: *drums and vocalizes Doctor who theme* Carmen: Oh yeah, oh yeah.

Professor: [In cool voice] The heartbeat of a Time Lord. Teferi: I’m afraid I just have to pass my turn. Professor: That’s it? That’s it? Professor: Oh, snaps! Oh snapsies! Teferi: I really can’t do anything. Alright, don’t screw this up, don’t screw this up. Alright, *laughs* well, *mumbles to himself*

Gavin: I think he drew a spell. *laughs* Carmen: Whoah, that is an Island. *laughs* Professor: Let’s go ahead, and let’s move to declare attackers. Teferi: Sounds good to me. Professor: We’re going to attackers, Professor: with everything. Teferi: Alright. Professor: At you. Teferi: How big are they?

Professor: This is: 3/6, 3/6, and 3/3. Teferi: That’s big. Professor: We have a trigger, Teferi: Okay. Professor: and we have another trigger. Teferi: Okay. Professor: So, we’re gonna play the guessing game. Teferi: Oh, good. Professor: We have, *counting* 1, 2 artifacts in play, only two. Only two.

I”m gonna say, do you think this is Professor: bigger than, or smaller than 2 artifacts? Teferi: Given your behaviour, Doctor, Professor: Yeah. Teferi: I’m gonna say that Teferi: it’s actually smaller than two artifacts. Professor: You’re gonna it’s smaller? Teferi: No! Gavin: Oooooh! Teferi: Noo! Carmen: *laughs*

Teferi: I misjudged you, Doctor. Professor: Look at the top seven cards of your library. Professor: You may put a creature card from among them onto the battlefield if that card has converted mana cost 3 or less, it enters with three additonal +1/+1 counters on it. *counting* 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

Alright, creature card from among them, where’s a creature card? Okay, there’s a creature card. Professor: Alright, well, we’re gonna go ahead and say, that The Third Doctor, comes into play. Professor: The Third Doctor, does not have converted mana cost 3 or less, but it does get +1/+1 for each noncreature token I control.

Professor: Which is none, unfortunately. Professor: When The Third Doctor enters the battlefield, create your choice of a Clue token, a Food token, or a Treature token. Professor: I think that I’m still in the mood for, Clues. Carmen: Get a Clue. Professor: Get a Clue, this game. So actually, The Third Doctor,

Is a 3/3 now, very appropriate. We’ve got another trigger! Professor: We’ve also now got, another artifact. Teferi: Mmm. So now the question is, is that greater than, or less than, three? Teferi: Mmmm, I’m gonna say it’s greater than three. Professor: You’re gonna say it’s greater than three. Looks like I get another-

Professor: Damage, blockers, Master? Teferi: I guess I’m gonna have to block one of those, Professor: Mhm. Teferi: with The Master, and, before damage is assigned, I will Plumb the Forbidden. Gavin: Ooh! Teferi: As an additional cost to cast this spell, I may sacrifice one or more creatures. Teferi: When I do, copy this spell

For each creature sacrificed this way. Teferi: I draw a card, and I lose 1 life. Professor: Mhm. Teferi: So it looks like I’m taking 6? Teferi: The Master will die, going back to the command zone, I will draw two cards, and lose 2 life. Gavin: I guess you’re probably just

Gavin: digging at this point, trying to find- Teferi: Trying to stay alive, desperately. Teferi: I will take 6 damage. Professor: Second main, I think it’s time to bring Ace back out, don’t you? Professor: Let’s go ahead, and we’re going to say, *counting* 2, 3, 4, we’re going to pay the commander tax, once,

And then we’re going to pay the commander tax a second time, to bring in, Ace. Professor: I get a copy, of Ace. Gavin: Appropriate, two Seventh Doctors, two Aces. Professor: Two Seventh Doctors, two Aces. Gavin: That’s appropriate. Carmen: I remember that,

Carmen: that was a double feature, right? Gavin: That was a great episode. Professor: *laughs* Professor: Pass the turn. Doesn’t look good for me, Doctor, I’m afraid. Teferi: I will play, unsurprisingly, this land, and, I will play, Rionya, Fire Dancer. Professor: Mhm. Teferi: Dalek Squadron,

Teferi: has menace, and myriad. Professor: What does the Dalek do? Teferi: The Dalek [Dalek voice] will exterminate [Regular voice] you. Professor: *laughing* Jeez, good luck! Teferi: Rionya says, at the beginning of combat, I will make a copy of another target creature I control, [Dalek voice] which is the Dalek Squadron, which will exterminate!

Professor: I will block with Ace, and the copy as well. That’s all I’ve got for now Doctor. Untap, upkeep, draw, and I think it’s time for far, far, far too many Doctors, to come your way. Professor: When we attack, Teferi: *laughs* Professor: we have a Professor: lot of triggers. Teferi: No!

Professor: Do you want to play any final guessing games before you die? Teferi: No Doctor, Professor: No? Teferi: just have it done. Teferi: Yes? No. Teferi: Yes? Professor: I warned you, that this always happens, and now you know what happens next. Professor: I forgive you. Teferi: *deep inhale* NOOOOOO!

Right, so how fair was that? Three Doctors against one, not very fair at all. When the tables are turned, when there’s three Masters against one Doctor, then you’ll see a ‘Master’-cre. Well, I guess if there’s one lesson to take away from this, don’t make any deals with someone called The Master.

Well, I was out first, but, *Sonic Screwdriver noises* it looks like The Master is stopped for now. There, that should do it. But there’s still evil lurking about. Stacks players, extra turns players. Come on, we’ve got work to do! Narrator: Next time, on Shuffle Up & Play! Kisses and hugs.

Today, Arin Hanson picks the format, what did you choose for us today, Arin? Under $50? Arin: This is Ognis, the Dragon’s Lash. Hi, I’m Spencer Crittenden. Spencer: Akim, the Soaring Wind. My commander, is Volrath the Fallen. Hi there, I am Taalia Vess. Taalia: Yargle and Multani. *screams* Taalia: What?! Arin: Yargle!

What, do you live in a glen? No, I- Well, maybe. Spencer: Kind of. This is a hard decision! I don’t think it is, just hit me. Arin: Yeah, you’re right, it’s not a hard decision. What?! Professor and Spencer: You haven’t seen The Station Agent?! Taalia: *laughs* Taalia: *laughs* Spencer: He has a hat!

No, he doesn’t have a hat. Does anybody want to cut me? Absolutely. Not that way, but after the show we can talk. Taalia and Professor: *laughter* Arin: *chuckles*

    1. So glad to have circled back and saw this one through after initially passing it up. I was never very familiar with Doctor Who, but this was such a treat. I rather enjoyed it! And the captioning is so on point, Professor. Incredible effort.

    2. Not saying Gavin is a cheater or if the deck was meant to be set up to be as quick as it started but watch his shuffle… very disappointing… (the top card stays at the top of the deck at all times) time stamp would be around 5:50

    3. https://youtu.be/g2-m4AtUL_8?t=2588 it looks like this was a misplay. The War Doctor's ability notes when one or more cards is exiled, to put a single time counter on him, not one for each card exiled. So when Gavin exiles 41 cards, he only gets 1 Time Counter. This changes the entire course of the game as Carmen wouldn't have been nuked from the game 59:00

    4. The war doctor reads: Whenever one or more cards are out into exile, put a time counter …
So that "big play" was just a missplay. the doctor would have gotten only one time counter.
Reading the card, explaines the card

    5. Has anybody else figured out a good / cool / convenient way to store the 4 doctor who decks and their plane cards?

Random question I know but I am striking out elsewhere on the internet. All I know is that ultrapro didn't make cool themed deckboxes like they did with the Warhammer decks (licensing issues I assume). Does anybody have a great setup for storing this collection? I'm super into this release and I want to do better than my usual scraggly piles and mismatched card boxes. 🙏🤍🩵🩷

    6. What a crazy idea that a doctor could regenerate into a future double copy of himself! 😂 That's way too crazy to happen in the show twice

    7. I strongly believe that is a misplay of the war doctors ability… the card says one or more… place a counter … while phasing… as long as one card phases.. it does not matter how many are phased… because phasing happens at once… exiling is the same way… if it was meant to be for each card… the wording would have included the word each… or not included one or more… since each was not used and one or more is… it is only one counter for each total instance of phasing… and one counter for each total instance of exiling
