This video gives an overview of what it’s like to experience a buggy and quad bike safari of the Akamas Peninsula in Cyprus.
The quad bike and buggy tour which I participated in started from The Golden Ride Rentals at Coral Bay near Paphos.
I visited Cyprus in July 2022 and The Golden Ride Rentals was organising guided buggy tours, Enduro bike tours and quad tours ranging in duration from three hours to all day.
My preference was for the 6.5-hour quad tour, which proved very enjoyable. In addition to the thrill of off-road driving, highlights along the 100-km (60-mile) circular route included seeing the Edro III shipwreck at Pegeia, the St George of Peyia (Agios Georgios Peyia) Orthodox Church at Pegeia and nearby archaeological site before driving to the Akamas Nature Reserve. There we visited Lara Bay turtle conservation station before continuing onward to the northwest coast of Cyprus. At Chrysohou Bay we visited the Baths of Aphrodite and went swimming in the Mediterranean Sea by Aphrodite’s Rock. The landscapes of Cyprus along the way were beautiful.
As an adventure activity, this buggy tour in Cyprus proved fun and a great way of sightseeing on a part of the island that would otherwise have been difficult for us to reach.
Towards the end of this video I provide tips on things to do and items to bring to make the most out of a buggy safari of the Akamas Peninsula…and don’t forget your swimming kit too, if you want to enjoy a dip in the sea!
Enjoy!
