From the Maga Hills Islamabad Pakistan welcome to the gcn show welcome to the gcn show coming up this week further or faster what should you focus your cycling goals on in 2024 we have also gotten new PBS for Mach ferol a 7-year-old 5H hour long stra km that’s

Just been broken the hardest in the world according to SAI some leaked 20124 jerseys and a very important detail that we need to tell you about for our zift 30 and 30 yeah it is very important really important [Applause] yeah this week in the world of cycling we learned that cyclocross bikes are dead no we joke Cy Cross Bikes are great but interestingly W vanart did choose to race a gravel bike at the prestigious Zelda sross race which he won although there is no word yet on why he used used

It and honestly I’m scratching my head well if you’re scratching your head I’ll definitely be scratching mine we also learned that Primos R looks pretty good in green he was one of a few big name Riders transferring to a new team on January the 1st here of course leaves

Visma Lisa bike or yumo visma as it was and we be riding this year for Bor H gr yeah you can also see on his new kit official confirmation they have moved from Shimano to Sham for their drivetrains we’ll have more of the new Pro kits coming up in a moment but first

It’s a new year we actually haven’t said a happy New Year happy New Year happy New Year yeah H now loads of us of course have been taking stock checking our St end of year stats and then coming up with new cycling goals maybe entering big events or other objectives even you

Started the new year did with a ride didn’t you I started with a 30 minute and 12 second ride on zwift I even shaved my legs for it once a pro always a pro um now one of the most common goals that we see and hear is distance

Loads and loads of us have annual distance goals I actually saw olle Bridgewood racking up some last minute kilometers to get over 20,000 well 20,000 20,000 cases per year that is really quite impressive it is isn’t it yeah and what were your end of season

Stats how many did you do uh well you know what so funnily enough if you’d asked me before I checked I’d have said that 2023 wasn’t a great year of riding for me but I actually did more than I’ve ever done since retiring by quite some margin so I did 8,000 2

48.1 kilm yeah um so a little less than half what Ole managed to fit in and around work yeah that is true actually to be F I’ve been trying to work out when I did all those kilometers I got no idea I tell what we could do you could

Ask your why I bet that she can definitively tell you when you did those kilometers yeah that is a good point yeah now other great goals to have that we see a lot distance in a single ride goal so that could be your first 50 miles can make your first 100K your

First century which is 100 miles yeah and it goes on and on doesn’t it really we can blame Mark Bowmont I think for this do your first 200k ride your first 300K or double Century 20 Cas we probably better leave it there you know

Well we could go on but we will leave it there well we could yeah um the other big goal that many of us have speed goals Now using average speed is a great measure of Fitness isn’t it and some of the big Milestones might be riding 30ks

In an hour or 20 mil in an hour yeah we should point out the former is statistically easier to achieve than the L and then for the real kyos 10 miles in 20 minutes oh that is tough that one is it now the I’ve done it you’ve not done

It well not in a time chart presumably at some point in a road race somewhere on a descend some else was on the front yeah no I I I did it for GCM video and I missed it by two seconds so you haven’t

Either no I was on a road I was on a road bike but I’ve never a flat course on a on a s P3 Zips thing is it probably wasn’t a fast course there was it oh no it’s grippy it was yeah well see this is the this is

The thing very high density air exactly it’s it’s the bad thing about an average speed goal or maybe it’s a good thing I don’t know depending on your perspective but you can cheat can’t you so you can improve your average speed by choosing ever flatter routes or you ride One

Direction only with a massive tailwind and then of course you can buy stuff can’t you to make you faster you buy faster tires or a faster Jersey or a faster helmet Wheels bike the list isend go pretty much yeah most people probably though have a fixed route to ride well I

Would think so yeah I think watching your speed increase on that is a decent measure of Fitness if all other variables remain the same that’s it yeah if you do it enough you can you can see it on a graph can’t you you can right um but we should say that average speed

Goals link perfectly into distance goals as well don’t they it’s long been established that hours of training directly correlates to Fitness level so not everyone will get as fit on the same amount of training of course I mean I could do the same amount as tal Pacha

But pretty confident I could do twice as much as today fora not be as good as him no but generally the more time you spend on the bike the better you get at bike riding and with that in mind those distance in a year goals are actually

Really good to have aren’t they that’s right yeah or hours we should say because if you do loads of gravel riding or mountain biking kilometers a much harder one there very true that’s uh breaking that annual Target down into monthly goals is a top tip on being able

To hit your target they definitely don’t want to be playing catchup when you get into November do you no you definitely don’t and also that consistency over the year that’s also going to pay dividend to your Fitness isn’t it because if you binge ride in July that’s not going to

Do all that much no no and if you do it all in the first two weeks of January exactly feel great next January do you know what is a solid way of racking up quality kilometers one commuting here we go s getting back on top of his Soap Box I can tell already

Yeah on January the 2nd but honestly commuting by bike is just the best like you get fit you save money you help make way you live nicer and it’s fun plus you rack up miles really consistently well there is I mean the one time I commuted

To work by bike I racked up 200 km in a 24hour period see if you carried on you’d be mega fit you probably would beat t for but once was enough I’ve got to save me well twice cuz I had to ride back up to the office where my car was

Located the following day ah that moment that you stumbled back into GCM Mega base well actually micro Bas is it was it was having rid home and then back in again Dan was an hour late for work he just had a chocolate milkshake in one

Hand a bottle of cider in another and a king siiz marsar in the back pocket that’s right he sat next to me down the allall and then I’m pretty sure you went and took a nap on the G Legend anyway back to the viewers at home we would love to know what your

Goals are on the bike this year are they distance related for a single ride for the overall year are they speed or competition related could be all sorts that’s it yeah get involved in the comment section down we would love to read them and then maybe we can start

Making some videos that might help you T those goals off just out of Interest what were your straa stats for last year for last year uh I think I did just over 450 kilometers but that includes uh walking which I’ve started uploading dog walks and a bit running as well uh and

Total time exercising was 50 hours so an hour a week roughly so my aim is to beat that this year yeah by the end of January cool well you I like I reckon you could do that I’m quite motivated this year you know that the the 30

Minutes on zift on January the 1st wasn’t just a one offer don’t think that’s cool man oh I actually did a run did you I did a run yeah so a friend of mine a good friend of mine was like do you want to come for a run and I was

Like yeah I actually quite do want to go for a run and I couldn’t walk for two days um but I think oh this is before New Year this was just before new year but now I think I actually want to get to a place where I can go for a sociable

Run like a jog a chat basically uh whilst moving and um so I’m going to try and do one a week how far did you 5.38 km uh I’ll have to check but it was about 28 minutes we were around at like 5 minute 20K Pace or something like that

No that’s not I’ve expecting you to say you went really quick no that’s why your legs could do anything the next day no my legs can do CU I made a plaster scene like cycl cycling makes your muscles really soft thick plastic scene base of the ankles

And very heavy we digress again New Year’s resolution to keep things tight on the G show already out the window yeah and now it’s time for cycling shorts now it’s with great sadness that we start cycling shorts today with news of the tragic passing of Melissa Dennis

Nay Hoskins Melissa was a former pro cyclist who had many successes on the road and track during her career those successes included World Championships Medals of every color on the track plus stage wins at the tour down under and an overall win at the tour of Ching Island

Back in 2012 yeah so after retiring at the end of 2015 Hoskins then married Rowan Dennis with whom she had two children on New Year’s Eve Dennis was charged with causing death by dangerous driving driving without due care and endangering life now he will appear in the Adelaide magistrates court again in

March uh it’s one of those pieces of news that comes out and hits you like a brick isn’t it it doesn’t matter how long you spend thinking about about it you simply cannot get your head around what’s just happened it’s just well just horrific isn’t it in every sense of the

Word it goes without saying but our thoughts are with everybody that knew Melissa but in particular to those two young children yeah rest in peace Melissa always really hard to move on from news like that isn’t it but let’s now take a look at some of the new team

Kits that were released by teams over the last couple of weeks so visma Lisa bike if stuck with yellow will be at a far brighter shade it’s pretty much daylow yellow Now isn’t it yeah not bad is it not super inspiring but uh it will still strike fear into the hearts of

Many definitely Jak alula and live alula have gone for a completely fresh look for this year out is the turquoise of 2023 in is a blue and red design for the men’s team and a purple and red design for the women I like both of those I like those as well and

Classes is a step forward from last year you didn’t like that did you it was awful yeah another look now at the brand new Bora hgo kit for 20124 so a bit of a departure from the last couple of years and there’s that there’s that addition

Of yellow that’s for R lit isn’t it bring a piece of home with him yes yeah a bit of a fresh new look without a major overhaul for that one reminds me for any longtime cycling fans reminds me of the old tinkoff kit I don’t know why

There’s just something about it oh they did have that um camouflage one that some yeah and it’s something about the fluro mits okay he’s wearing as well um right let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below favorite kit of 2024 so far hot or not yes we will of

Course be rating them ourselves once they’ve all been released amongst those that we are still waiting for as you would expect our EF education easy F however does look as though their 2024 Jersey might have been inadvertently leaked by the toall Down Under website this is brilliant isn’t it spotted by

Benji n who posted the design X formerly known as Twitter whilst others then spotted the new ja and group armor kits on there as well yeah but if that is the new EF education easy post Jersey for 2024 and you’d imagine it probably is be weird if tan and just

Created well they haven’t send it to them yet so this is what we think they should look like yeah if they have their social media exacts done a really good job yes really put people off the sense yeah maybe we should praise them anyway

I’m a big fan of it if that is indeed the kit U more in line with their Jersey from a couple of years back versus the multicolored 2023 design yeah I it’s not my favorite efk no it’s not but I do like it interested to know what their

Color shorts are because they black hopefully well actually they had those like greeny ones that look pretty cool the other year yeah but that was when they had some green on their Jersey as well I think that was you light anyway there we go right moving on to a brand

New K that was set by Larry warbass on New Year’s Eve of all days so the previous record had stood for seven years years and it is one of the longest segments in the world and I think as Dan you said in the intro I think this is

The hardest climb in the world 160 160 106 kilometers up Hawaii’s Mona volcano so 4,000 m in one go literally from sea level certainly not easy as a St K and the previous best time was set by Phil Gman and that was just short of 5 hours whilst the new best time

Is just short of 5 hours cuz warbass took just 15 seconds off the previous best time imagine being that close to a k for 5S hours it must have been excruciating and it’s excruciating for Phil Gman as as well to Lose It by that man so close it so far yeah well

Absolutely yeah g was inevitably quick to get in there with excuses according to Val news he’ said uh I was pushing hard but sharing it on Instagram live and taking photos probably crying a bit here and there I stopped to poop at the visitors center and then I was woefully

Underprepared for the 10 km of dirt with my 208c tires and 25 Toth cassette in fact I ran with my bike on my shoulder but I did take the km by two hours that sounds like my list of excuses to be perfectly honest although mine are not

Tong and cheek like they were for Phil Gman you think they were you think you think he was well surely he wasn’t being genuine with that yeah no I think he was too I mean I didn’t think he was initially and then you told me this

Morning that he was joking and I I mean if he wasn’t joking I don’t know what I’d say he was he was Jing he was joking right let’s move on to a bit of racing news now PL to catch up on over the last couple of weeks and it’s mat ferol who’s

Been dominating the world of pyros in the much anticipated Return of the big three or is it the big one well this is it you yeah you posted to X formerly known as Twitter and I think you might be right now he’s just things stand certainly yeah he’s did a class of his

Own as of yesterday it’s eight races and eight wins for the world champion and is his latest margin of Victory 1 minute 55 is his biggest winning margin out of his 157 Pro cyc cross better and better yeah like I said less big three more big one

Right now he always not even close is it with the others I mean he’s always chilling on the last couple of laps he could afford to can’t he maybe you know I guess that just like what was my big biggest ever margin of Victory I’ll try and beat that for some sort of

Competition he looks like he’s riding around his own too doesn’t he he does basically yeah just little I mean vanar and Pitcock have both clearly stated haven’t they that their aims Ambitions are very different this year to previous Seasons but yeah time will tell if that pays off for them

True but you got to say w vanard like it wasn’t his massive objective last year either was it cross I mean did do the worlds but he was going a heck of a lot faster last year he was winning more than Vanderpool last year yeah the only

Time ever yeah well back to vanderpol though it’s not just the domination no that has got him into the headlines uh there has also been much said of the Lamborghinis that he’s been turning multiple Lamborghinis yes the ideal car for a muddy field isn’t it a sporting

Lamborghini well they do have a like a Lamborghini rally car thing don’t they yeah they do I don’t think he’s been using that he not don’t think so no they’ve been looking very sporty and low to me there you go then imag imagine how embarrassing it’ be being towed out of a

Muddy field at a soccer cross race by a tractor in your Lamborghini you’re embarrassing but also ironic side because Lamborghini started out as manufacturer of tractors there you go bit Lamborghini trivia for you didn’t know that well there you go no thanks for that mate anyway the other headline

Around vapol actually know we should probably point out he’s growing a mullet isn’t he yeah that’ be pointed out also in caption competition this week oh yeah okay um but the Hulse round of the World Cup on the last lap he swung across the track specifically to spit at some

People in the crowd yeah a partition of the crowd should I say that apparently been throwing beer and possibly urine at him and also booing him throughout the race not just during the race in fact but on the pr practice laps that he was doing before the start yeah now you I

Suspect would quite like someone to throw beer at you routinely every lap uh but as D said some Reports say that they were throwing urine at him as well which you’ve got to say it’s really weird really weird like honestly who would we in a cup and then throw it at someone

Yeah I mean some people are into that sort of stuff do you want me to we into your mouth for you they but you don’t know if mat V ore that someone would be into into that no so the point either way it would be annoying

For it wouldn’t it and uncalled for in terms of what the crowd would doing yeah but spitting at them definitely wasn’t the best way to handle the situation I think everybody can agree with that much yeah not the best way but I have sympathy with him I mean

I really do like I wouldn’t I wouldn’t spit either but like do you know what I mean it was really do you remember when Sven nce got off his bike and walked into the remember he was very calm though wasn’t he yeah he was yeah more calm than the fan he was crapping

Himself absolutely Yeah well yeah good job there wasn’t another lap we might have had something else throwing at it wouldn’t he anyway let’s move on a quick shout out um to a very very popular contributor to gcn Inigo Sam Milan such is the demand for his training knowledge

That he set up his own YouTube channel so we thought we’d give a bit of shout out so he can impart on it whatever he wants and to whomever he want who wants to New Year New Year yeah basically he can say what he wants do whoever wants

To listen he’s basically saying on his on his video first and only video so far he’s getting so many requests from people on podcast to beig guests Etc you decide if he just sets his own one up and imparts his knowledge that was even more this time we going on all these

Different podcasts and videos and interviews like your one anyway for those of you who don’t think he’s basically just going to ghost me now yeah just go to my own YouTube channel which we’re now handly pointing everybody to okay uh he is obviously famous in cycling circles being the

Coach of today patcha he’s now combining that along with coaching some of the other UAE team riders with being director of performance at the Athletic Club Bill Bell football squad while continuing his role as assistant professor of medicine at the University of Colorado I mean he is a busy man he’s

A busy man yeah perhaps you shouldn’t expect daily Vlogs no from him um however as you said he’s uploaded his first video in which he explains the training zones that he uses including zone two of course which um he sort of become the poster boy for has really yes

We’ll put a link to that video in the description below this video yeah now we shall finish sing shorts with a reminder of the 30 in30 challenge that kicked off yesterday on the 1st of January um so basically it’s a reminder to encourage people of any age to get well back on

Your bikes which seem seems like the logical thing to do if you’re watching gcn but any exercise counts right so 30 minutes of riding or general exercise I’m not sure you can count 30 minutes in the gym because in terms of actual amounts of time exercise yeah probably

Any like 10 bicep curls 10 minutes rest 10 bicep ex I mean we you can count that um but also this is the big one you can join GCM presenters on zwift every day okay so there’s two rides per day from on the gcn club on zift so 10:30 a.m. UK

Time and then 6:30 p.m. UK time yes uh you’ve already hosted one ride on New Year’s Day didn’t you and you were met with a lot of criticism those who took part I wouldn’t sayot because you made the ride too hard so didn’t you come on

So what I didn’t realize I I stressed beforehand it was going to be a steady ride what I didn’t know was that these are non-rop rides okay which is brilliant because they’re called banded right so it means that everyone stays together it doesn’t matter how much power you’re putting out you won’t be

Dropped but it also means that if you ride really really hard you actually won’t move up in the bunch particularly either and you can’t go off the front so I think people well this must be why I couldn’t drop you this explains a lot exactly yeah but it did mean that some

People were riding really really really hard and not moving up in the bunch and worrying that if they didn’t ride that hard they were then going to go out the back so basically like being stuck on a hamster wheel and not being able to get off so so everyone is welcome and

Everyone can ride and we’ll all ride together which is super cool isn’t it so yeah um but yeah like I don’t know why you didn’t join me yesterday for your 30 minutes on zift you just I only made a decision at at 4:30 p.m. to shave my

Legs and then to go on zift what what time did you do yours was 6:30 p.m. oh you didn’t do the 10:30 a.m. one no no I didn’t yeah well I might join you for another one yeah I’m in training for a secret race actually find out can’t say anything more than that

I’ve got seven days to train for it andex again some really really good who is it can’t say like someone like as not a gzm presenter like someone actually good is someone actually good let’s just say they weigh about 15 kilos less and their

FTP is twice as much as mine I mean I don’t stand much of a chance for seven days of training sounds like it’s going to be a good race our first hack SL bodge of the year was sent to us on the uploader by Troy uh but Came Upon This bike while surfing

The internet for stereo Parts oh hello look at that I like the Quilted effect it’s been done reasonably neatly orbe it with a use of at least one zip tie oh two I think the zip ties actually are holding the brake cables on so actually

It’s just a really crap bike but uh very neat stereo on there like I you know you see quite a few people riding around these days like with music playing out from your bike or just walking around it’s bloody annoying yeah it is kind of

It’s quite weird isn’t it well why do I want to listen to your music not speaking person you my music is great mate but yeah I don’t know why you want to listen to some people’s music like a bit how how do you like I seen your playlist man it’s like that

Chris room playlist that came out years ago the most horrific diic wasn’t it Absolut di B Smooth Operator though that is a good track isn’t it anyway there we go right uh bed I’m going to say hack for that are you yeah that’s cool particularly like

The Disco lights no I’m saying bud I don’t want to hear other people’s music stick headphones in it might uh rub your knees you might rub your knees on the Twitter might you oh yeah so there is a there is a potential problem no I think

That’s cool um right next up we got this one from rally mat as it is the season of fing our houses with tat so that mean there another way of saying Christmas um Christmas decoration I rummaged through my box a bits I haven’t thrown away yet and we probably never reuse and created

This incredible seasonal hit to Santa hint oh sorry what is going on with me today can’t have just the ability to read remember stuff um you push yourself too hard try not to get dropped on that probably yeah um I mean I don’t know what to say about that why is there a

Why is there a model Railway well that’s yeah that doesn’t really go with the rest of it I’m not sure on the saddle either I mean I know it’s a bike related Reef for the front door but vaguely bike related two jockey Wheels a reflector what do you want to see on it

Then I know some chain Rings that’s quite bike related you could wrap a chain around there can you yeah well I mean just could do better I think yeah I think so that’s a massive B sorry rally Matt yeah I think you need you need to

Raid the parts spin a little bit harder next year basically um or just use Alex Payton’s parts bin where you can find many brand new je race items amazing right um oh yeah who’s up next Dan Mark AR whirl Mark sge Mark sge WHL uh spotted on recumbent bicycle

Riders Facebook page can’t get more hacked than hacking an old bikeing half for gate Decor oh can’t get more bodged than this bike abuse the choice is yours I think that’s a hack I’m going to go for hack yes I I’m pretty sure we’ve had this on the show before many many years

Ago but you can’t remember it well I can’t remember it no but the fact that that Mark found it on the recumbent Riders Facebook page suggests that maybe it has been doing the rounds there are certain photos aren’t there that continuously do the rounds it’s like that um kids tricycle

With the arrow bars the pink one that’s always being sent that old chest I’ll go hack for that I think you’ve already voted haven’t you yeah yeah I think that’s a hack for sure yeah that’s good one that thanks sge Mark or Mark right and finally we got this from from Fidel

Britanna I know s loves anything 3D printed it’s true that um so I just wanted to share this 3D printed hood that I put on my daily track bike we found this design concept and had it printed then I put it on my bike with some clamps from leftover break hoods

With a couple of wraps from an old Bart tape and voila a very clean looking break hood that allows me to grip the bike especially when climbing without actually having Brak hoods there it looks very small stubby is quite stubby it looks quite risky I I wouldn’t want

To be yanking on that stubby break Hood when climb your Hill with all the power I’ve got your hands could slip easily couldn’t they off well yeah and if got one photo Haven we we should remind people that when using the uploader if you have more than one photo that you

Want to upload please do multiple photos at different times we can get different angles yeah maybe it’s not quite as dangerous as it looks it well I mean if you think your hands are going to slip off at what 95 Watts then for the majority of people that could be pretty

Bad couldn’t it um I yeah I think you maybe need to just print a little bit more next time just do some more printing yeah just so whatever you need yeah basically but anyway I like I like the effort I like the concepts just need’s working on for for safety reasons

In my mind well there’s a dilem then is it a hacker or bodge oh it’s a bdge for me I wouldn’t be going near that I don’t know what to say to be honestly no is this could this be the first ever 3D printed thing that’s being

Deemed a budge by sigh well yeah I mean the world’s moving on isn’t it anyone can buy 3D printed now apparent you can buy 3D 3D pen I was told do you mean as in like you literally you write stuff with a pen and it’s like a mini 3D

Printer so you can do it freand yeah apparently anyway there we go just like grease do that go you know what I used yesterday to put some pedals onto a bike is I’ve got this gripshift syringe of greas that I’ve had for like 25 30 years

It’s still fine Johnny snot that one it might be that’s what it used to be called yeah might be there you go 25y old G doesn’t gone off no expiry date you should put it on eBay it’s probably got value right that’s a massive bodge anyway uh well yeah that’s it for Hackle

B this week isn’t it yeah I’ll try to remember to bring it in next week I’ll set a reminder on my phone now good Caption competition now and we’re actually before we get on to results or the F for this week we got some big news H we down look at this this is a Camelback water bottle we’re AB delighted to say that Camelback are Now gtn’s official water bottle partner so

Prizes from this day forth will be Camelback water bottles it be a coveted Camelback cover to yeah Podium water bottle our thanks of course go to Elites for their partnership over over the last few years which has been great even if they did miss my signature off that

Expensive bottle cback won’t do the same thing surely but yeah delighted to have Camelback back on board you might remember a few years ago when we’ve signed our first partnership with Camelback that the bottles were very delayed in arriving weren’t they we’d sold quite a few of the Camelback G in

Bottles to very nice members of the public uh but then I think it was my fault in the end wasn’t it they were sent over by sea Freight instead of Air Freight quite a long save a bit of money didn’t you on on the shipping options hopefully that won’t happen this time

Soon we will have our hands on some decent branded Camelback Podium bottle so this is a placeholder for now isn’t it um a plain Camelback Podium water bottle um as downstairs the gcn ones will be with us soon but anyway without further Ado you should crack on with

Some let’s crack on yes uh this was the photo we gave you two weeks ago before Christmas uh Tom Peacock on the podium with a ra rather large Quant beer and our winner is Grant Welch 9255 Larger than Life cyclist Tom Peacock unhoppy and barley functional after being asked to drink celebratory

Beer it was the yeast he could do there you I mean pun Central well I like a pun you clearly like a pun um so uh Grant your gcn Camelback water bottle will be winging its way to you at some point in the near future so get in touch and uh

We’ll basically like write you and I you and then uh it’ll get dispatch with all the rest of them when they turn up so there you go congratulations gr first winner of the uh congrat War all right onto this week’s photo then it’s from another Podium of Cy cross uh this time

It is of Machu fero you’re involved in this s you’re going to have to ask me what I think of mat fero’s haircut okay uh what do you think of mat fero’s haircut not sure have to mull it over ah nice I mean I I think it looks quite

Quite cool when it’s sticking out the back of a helmet it’s a bit like you remember when Tom bonan went through the mullet yeah he had some good years with the mullet he did yeah whilst he still had hair I think this is a correlation yeah right get your teeth stuck into

That in the comment section down below and we will pick a winner next week who will receive a GCM branded Camelback water bottle yes we will shortly be letting you know what’s in store for the first week’s worth of videos on GCM Plus in GCM plus Jesus Christ sorry it’s contagious this

It we will Surly be letting you know what’s coming up on gcn for the first week of 2024 but first up if you have our favorite comments from the last fortnite or so yeah first up on any five reasons why long rides are but are they

Uh came in from Seattle gurle oh I love a long ride the sense of pure exhaustion pushing through it can’t get enough can’t eat enough food dead on the couch it’s a great feeling it is a great feeling absolutely it is if you don’t have to get off the couch there’s no

Better feeling than being completely mullered and just enjoying being there having earned it basically also I heard a good one um from Jack thir of the uh slow cycling uh documentaries that were on GCM plus um and uh he was saying you obviously have to spend less time faffing around

Cleaning proportionately to the amount of time you spend riding which is a good point isn’t it if you go for an hour ride and then have to spend 15 minutes cleaning your bike and stuff whereas if you go for a 4-Hour ride you still to spend 15es very true very true but

You’re just knackered for that 15 minutes might be 20 cuz he so slow well yeah I guess there is a good point there anyway um under cheaper bikes faster racing what’s in store for 24 the last gcn uh show Mr danison said I think people are crazy for counting out rogl

For the 24 toor France he’s coming off the best season of his career and he’s looking super strong he and yonas were neck and neck at the Welter what do you think they then I hope he’s right up there he do deserves it doesn’t he you

Know despite all of his win he does seem to encounter a lot of bad luck that prevented him winning some of the biggest race in the world but really at this point only the Tour of France missing yeah what we want is a big competition don’t we what we don’t want

Is J V go seven minutes ahead by the end in Paris again no that would be that would not be good would it Johnny Loco 11 thank you sign Dan and the rest of the gon crew for all your content this year is literally where I go if I need

To pick me up which is lovely toar yeah that’s super cool thanks for that Johnny um underneath uh Hank’s video where he rode recumbent which is potentially the fastest bike you can buy hack fabrication said I really enjoy this content for me this is an extreme Fascination about seemingly ordinary

People doing extraordinary things none of this Mega budget Factory backed stuff real people making real things just to go fast brilliant so that’s pretty cool it how much better bikes got in 50 years retro versus modern campy Edition I was a teenager says C do photo when campy

Cors was introduced and it has been an object of my desire until my 50s when I could afford to buy a bike uh afford to build a bike full of campanola kits uh and of course it was a chorus group set it was worth the weight sorry I mang

With that completely did completely yeah um if you want any chorus cassettes candy photo for 11 speed I’ve still got a couple knocking around you got super record super record yeah I know it’s ridiculous isn’t it but there you go um no that was cool there yeah a lot of

Love for for campolo in that video If you haven’t seen it check it out it came out just before Christmas I think um and then funny enough there were one or two comments under the GCM bloopers video Emil yaren Grim said so a full year and

Not a single mistake by Dan guess this shows just what a superb presenter he is yeah that’s I learned to edit videos late last year there we go n Chief down doesn’t make mistakes to you mate no well probably seen by now by the show on the

Show that I have made a mistake anyway coming up on GSN this week on Wednesday we are going to show you how to do a track St who presents that video uh Connor and Hank okay just trying to work out whether or not it’d be better than

The video I’d already done on how to do a track not could you possibly beat that one from 2013 I guess they’ll be more real won’t they they W make it look as easy as I did no then on Thursday uh how to transport your bike by car yeah that’s a good one

It um something that a lot of us have to do from time to time uh Friday in scoda superb estate just put the seats down slide it in there you go don’t bother watching on Wednesday short video there you go buy a scota superb yeah just slide it in on Friday

Are two short rides per day better than one long one the science of split days Kate check this one out right um I spent quite a bit of time and had quite a lot of fun researching this one so uh so yeah there’s a lot of evidence to say

That split days is are really really good so that’s Friday on Saturday Connor went out and basically did the next stage of our long running experiment about flat pedals versus Clippers pedals put his money where his mouth is went for a massive bike ride on flat pedals

See what would happen yeah um and then on Sunday uh we tried to break the kilo world record so uh this was freshly broken wasn’t it by Jeffrey hland oh we said Johnny didn’t we not Johnny um and it stands at is it 55 seconds kilometer so anyway

Standing start yeah how did we manage to break his Kil world record check it out yeah not legitimately AGA Scali enters in Mexico ran a track I think safe to say we’ve been keeping it under wraps down but yeah potentially we did right thanks very much for watching first show

Of 202 24 done and dusted look forward to seeing again next week that’s right yeah faultless as ever not a single mistake uh nice and brief wasn’t it yeah short short and sharp see you next week

    1. I disagree with you guys sorry. The 3D hoods on the track bike I think would be very helpful aslong as they were really secure. When Iโ€™m climbing or cruising I often use the bar behind the hood and only just touch the hoods so these would be exactly perfect for my riding!

    2. Hack forward slash bodge has been my fav part of the gcn show for 7 years now. Still have my gcn founders club pin on my saddle bag!

    3. Itโ€™s always distance for me, distance with a slightly faster pace than usual. Iโ€™m 58 now and know my average speed wonโ€™t change much, compared to when I was doing triathlons but Iโ€™d still like to improve my speed by a couple of points.

    4. You guys really need to get in with the Audax crowd. You'll not see much in the way of sponsorship opportunities, but what you see will be real and relatable to a whole lot of people.

    5. With Zwift's no-drop group rides, someone pushing relatively higher W/kg will tend to be toward the front of the pack, and relatively lower W/kg will be generally in the back. I give Ride Ons to everyone like Rip Taylor throws confetti, but that means sprinting hard to the front and slowly drifting through the pack all the way to the party in the back.

    6. My PR speed goal days are behind me. It's distance goals for me: 300K sunrise to sunset bike ride near the Summer solstice, then a 50K (baby) ultramarathon running in October.

    7. Horrible that Melissa Hoskins died, but really interested in more info from Australian prosecutor & defense teams about what exactly happened with the Dennis/Hoskins situation. Hard to really know what to say about it because none of the news stories so far explain what happened in any way that actually makes sense.

    8. Over 20000km from Ollie! Way to go. I'm over 50 and not as fast as I used to be but Ollie's Tour de Stations video has inspired me to get into ultra cycling more and try to complete that same event later this year.

    9. I have specific ride goals. Two rides that I never thought Iโ€™d be able to do, I now think itโ€™s achievable. I loaded them into the Wahoo today as sort of a commitment. They arenโ€™t rideable until summer because theyโ€™re under snow

    10. I hit my cycling target of 11, 400 km for 2023 at age 78 and plan the same for 2024. I could have done more but do not want to tempt fate and force the limits. I live in Toronto, Canada but spend Jan & Feb in Florida to start the new year of well. Speed is not important but have only lost one or two km/h . Carpe diem is my motto. Loving retirement.

    11. I had to work really really hard to stay in Siโ€™s group. Good to know Iโ€™m not in danger of being dropped. To be fair, I increased my top power outputs ๐Ÿ˜‚

    12. No goals, except to take advantage of every good weather opportunity to get in a nice ride, especially early in the morning (which just makes the rest of my day so much better).

    13. Single-ride distance related: to do a quadruple metric century. On 12/26/2023, I did my first triple metric on Zwiftโ€”325km (a double century + 2 miles) in 10hr 2min (Tempus Fugit for the win), besting my previous single-ride distance of 220km from 2022.

    14. #captioncompetition: Resplendent in his royal stripes, The Champion regally stands tall to survey his vast domain, the king of all he sees. But after some large glasses of podium beers, the vast crowds below him became aware of their Champion's need for a nature break…

    15. I'm 68 years old, last year rode 6680 kms. this year looking for 7800kms. Ride 3 times a week when possible min 50 kms each time around 600kms per month. One ride so far this year for 79 kms. so far so good๐Ÿ™‚

    16. 60 year's old and pedalled 15,403 km in 2023 mostly in glorious Thai countryside where the weather rarely dips below 20ยฐC. Si would freak out at all the cow and buffalo herds I encounter everyday lol. Wonder how he'd feel about elephants? because there's plenty of those too around my area.

    17. My goal for this year is distance. I would like to do a double metric century. (Over the summer I did a hundred miles.) I also want to do some touring. When it comes to going faster, I hope to increase my average speed from 11 MPH (roughly 18 KPH) over long distance rides. These are fairly modest goals, or not even goals at all for most folks, but Iโ€™m an old man and I donโ€™t feel a need to prove anything to anyone but myself. (72 years old, in case youโ€™re wondering.)

    18. I'm focused more on distance than speed. I have big plans for 2024 with an Audax 1000km coming up in May. My longest ride to date is 320km so it will be a big step up. I have already got 200, 300, 400, and 600km events coming up to get myself ready. In 2023 I made yearly goals for distance = 12,000km and elevation = 70,000m. I hit them both so will increase to 15,000km & 75,000m for 2024. I broke them down into weekly goals, and Strava already has monthly badges. Like Si & Dan, I think this is the best approach for success!! Ride on!!

    19. My challenge for this year is here in Australia. Peaks Challenge. 235klm Fondo with over 4000m of elevation. 13hr cutoff. Hope to do 12hrs. I will be 74 at the time so a big ask. But knocking out the hours and Klms of training,. So I am planning to succeed and get that Peaks finishers Jersey.

    20. You can't get or stay fit if you make it a grind. If you enjoy it, looking forward to every ride, you"ll stay with it. And you should always think you could have done more- that was Lemond"s advice, and who knows better than him?
