Is the problem that men are practically throwing money away on stupidly expensive bikes while also spending ludicrous amounts on the latest vain fashion accessories because no matter the level they all think they're on the tour? Because that's the way it is where I live. Being told by media what to buy/wear (because they havent actually got any fashion sense themselves) and voila we've an army of vain twats all flying around on SL7s decked in pink Rapha flexing their jawlines. The levels of vanity-driven consumerist muppetry among men now is astounding, we're a fucking sad bunch and it's only getting worse! That the problem?
This definitely isn't just a UK issue. Here in Nova Scotia there's a popular trail that asshole keeps pulling brush across, and throwing tacks out onto the trail. one or 2 ended up in bike tires, but so many more ended up in dogs feet…
I feel like there's at least one in every city. These people have no regard for the consequences of their actions, and need to be brought to justice. Some of the MTB'rs around here have put up trail cams to try and catch the guy.
Huge problem here in Australia. The tabloid media love to cater to the concept that all cyclists are rich wankers and paint them in a terrible light all to get the click bait and ad revenue. Agree with you completely Francis, somethings got to change mate!
We as cyclists for many motorists are just obstacles on the road. It's shocking to hear about an attack like this in the so-called civilized world. Thank God here in Puerto Rico, where even though some of the absolute worst drivers on planet Earth live and breed, I haven't had very many negative instances with motorists. Most people tend to value my life and the lives of other cyclists and understand that if you take care of me you're really taking care of yourself when you don't put yourself in the position of making the news for running over another cyclist. So much anger for absolutely zero reason…
Other minority groups get protection, we just get more abuse, & told to get of the roads, get road tax, insurance. Barbed wire across a path is just insane, why would you want to garrot someone just because you don't like their choice of sport. 🤬

Granted what they did is sick, but why pretend cyclists aren't the problem. Being blocked for miles while they sit at 10mph 3 abreast and flick the finger when I overtake, sorry but they bring on the stigma themselves
There was an individual putting thumb tacks and broken glass down on a path/route clearly marked as for walkers/cyclists/horses in Nottinghamshire a few years ago. This individual was out of their minds, they were putting up signs on A4, hand written of the rules for the path they had decided on. The police had to be called in to stop them because many dog walkers, horsie people and walkers with kids were less than impressed with this person. My cycling has had to be curtailed after some unfortunate broken bones (not done cycling) and replaced with hiking/walking so I have both perspectives. 90% of cyclists have very good manners out in the country, the negativity and singling out of one group is unwarrented, there are rude dog walkers, cyclists and horsie people.
We have older, old money folks who can't share a trail along Lake Ontario. Simply because they're the only entitled folks who pay taxes to walk their dogs. Yet won't pick up the shit on trail. And just to be ass hats, use broken glass to give someone a flat. A number of us, like myself search the trails and bring small brooms and bags to clean up. Everyone should be safe and enjoy a trail…..
You'll be proud of me Francis – I saw an article in the Daily Express today (clickbait article) about the change to the Highway Code coming soon (changing the emphasis of right of way to more vulnerable road users). Of course the comments were full of thuggish / violence / inciting hatred. So I flagged as many as I could and called out as many as I could before the Daily Express deactivated my account (I opened one up minutes before). It was good fun while it lasted – but you're right – there's so much hatred out there……Stay safe and keep the videos coming 🙂
Yes, the problem with cycling is cyclists. Allowed to undertake vehicles that are indicating a left turn. The only reason I can imagine for this is cyclists are too stupid to see vehicle indicators and have no rules to follow because they are incapable of understanding any rules. They have the biggest attitude of entitlement and complete disregard for any other road users.

As a 71yr old pedestrian, I'm sick to death of these oppressed cyclists riding on pavements. And it's not just young people. They weave amongst crowded areas very dangerously and woe betide anyone who challenges them. Show the consideration that you demand from others.
germany is maybe compairable. cycling paths are slowly getting better but there is just this overall problem of a pathological society. people just want to hate on each other. cyclist act bad in traffic, so do car drivers and pedestrians …
We don't necessarily have that problem in my state, but the one thing we do have is cyclists never follow the rules of the road. Constantly running stop signs, going through red lights, ect. They put themselves in danger quite a bit and then expect everyone else to yield and be kind. Honking at a cyclist as they run through a stop sign as you are going through it is one thing, putting wire or barbed wire (attempted murder?) is something entirely different. There is just a huge lack of courtesy, respect, and just plain rule following all around.
Wait till they run cars off the road for the lower classes? They're already thinking about introducing highway code test, cycling proficiency, road tax & insurance for cyclists??

I moved to the South of France. It's a dream here. Cars and people treat you with respect. Weather is amazing. UK is a dump.
Some of the stuff the daily mail churns out is downright hate speech and causes drivers to intentionally assault cyclists with their vehicles (borderline attempted murder). The media needs to be punished as well as the drivers

Riding rarely as one does on a 2 lane Dual Carriageway and get beeped hugging the side of the road rear the white line in lane 1
Cars expect the rider to be on the shoulder and expect you to ride on it with all the winter sludge ( soil and oils ); and other road detritus/garbage/dead tree branches/tyre/litter.
I see in America you cannot even ride legally on shoulder as you cannot use any vehicle on the shoulder, per se. Â
Question is, can we legally ride on the shoulder and why should we just to not get beeped. Why are Motorists forever cycle-haters
You are as much a problem as them. Meaning, you're feeding into an us-and-them attitude which has its root fundamentally opposed ways of life. Nothing about your presentation reflects normal people. The way you talk, even look at the camera, your slow pan angles, your facial expressions, etc. Most people just want to get to the shops or sit and eat their McDonalds and watch Netflix. People mostly seek out ease and comfort. Then you come along with an apparently complete agenda, and you bundle in with Novara Media/Aaron Bastani groups while basically doing influencer stuff for a living. You identify yourself as the enemy of ordinary people, and as a result ordinary people when they ride their bikes find the paths deliberately littered with broken glass, etc. Stop trying to "help" people "bro". Nobody wants what you want, otherwise they would all make the same life choices as you.
As a Canadian who has lived in Edmonton Alberta where there are days that are -40 before considering the wind chill, I can say with absolutely no doubt that -3 isn't cold. If you peddle you stay warm. At -10 you need to really start wearing some proper winter gear, but it's not 'too cold to cycle' until -25 or so. Of course you probably aren't riding the same bike you would be riding in the summer, but it's still better than sitting in a traffic jam.
Cycling is harmful to the pelvic floor and nervous system, very unhealthy for you. Your bodies weren't made for cycling.
