We challenged our friends over at GMBN to find out what the ultimate all-road bike is, a gravel bike or a mountain bike? But we weren’t going to solve this question anywhere, so we went to the ultimate testing ground, Iceland!

In association with Moots, Reynolds, Cycliq, and Komoot.

Simon was joined by Neil for his icelandic adventure, GMBN vs GCN, gravel vs MTB, Drop bars and pretty skinny tyres vs suspension forks and flat bars. Just who would have the best tool for the job?

Over two days, and 200 kilometres Si and Neil traversed the Icelandic Highlands by bike. The guys aimed for the Icelandic summertime, but it turns out summer means something different over there, as the temperature hovered around 0 degrees Celsius in the daytime!

This was an absolutely incredible adventure over some of the most stunning terrain you can ride a bike on, and we’d love to know what you think of it. So leave us a comment down below this video!

    1. That road is kinda smooth~~
The tougher the road is, the MTB would be faster
The smooth the road is, the gravel bike would be faster

    2. This was great guys. Thanks for making this video. Breathtaking scenery taken in by spectacular bike riding. One of the best videos on YouTube. Wow. Both Moots you guys were on rock too. Thanks again.

    3. Both have good qualities, but the journey that they have been through shows that its not about the quality of the bike. Its the biker itself and i love it.

    4. well, the road bikes are pretty good for the pedaling sections but the problem is the pedigree, they're basically race bikes. discrimination is a hat crime and racers doing racism is bad. Thats why mountain bikes are superior and that superiority needs to stamp out the racers and their fascism and Hitler stuff. Most importantly, those racers need to get banned from the roadways, they obstruct the flow of traffic and obstruction is a serious crime. Mountain bikes are Gods work, they are perfect in every way and anybody that thinks otherwise can go to hell

    5. I love the scenery – great job with the cinematography! I guess the answer to gravel v. MTB is to ride a MTB because it's more fun, but bring your gravel friend so they can tow you in the wind! 🙂
