In this exciting video, I will take you on a Flixbus double-decker coach trip from Copenhagen to Malmö across the incredible Öresund Bridge. But it won’t be just any bus trip because we will travel on the top deck and in the first row, with a panoramic view that will allow us to see both cities and, above all, the bridge that crosses the Øresund strait between these two cities and their respective countries, Denmark and Sweden.

You will discover all the details of my trip, from the comfort and convenience of the Flixbus vehicle, a Setra TopClass coach, to the breathtaking view of the Öresund Bridge offered by this privileged seat. I’ll take you through every highlight of the journey and share interesting facts about the bridge and the route itself. We will also see Copenhagen Central Station at the beginning of the video and Malmö Central Station at the end, as well as some of its most striking three-section articulated city buses, the Van Holl Exqui.City24 model.

Today we travel from Copenhagen to Malmö across the incredible Øresund Bridge. And in a double-decker coach! Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride. Hello! We are in front of the central station of Copenhagen, in Denmark.

This time we are not traveling by train, but we are going to go inside for a moment. It is the largest station in the country and was inaugurated in 1911. I love the combination of the wood of the arches on the deck… …with the bricks that make up the walls.

The style of the station is National Romantic, a Nordic architectural style. And it is often considered a form of art nouveau. Now we are a few meters from the station, at the Flixbus stop. Behind us we still have the beach of tracks… and there in the background the station we came from.

Today’s trip is short: we will travel about 44 kilometers in 1 hour and 30 minutes. And we will do it with panoramic views of the Oresund Strait and its great bridge. It will be thanks to this double-decker coach, this Setra TopClass, and our seats.

Up there, on the second floor and in the first row, is our seat. The interior is very good. No frills, but more than correct. And it offers a fantastic vision. The seats look comfortable and have both a plug and a USB connector. We also have spaces to carry drinks and plenty of legroom.

By the way, on the top floor we almost traveled alone. Let’s go? Come on! Do you see how many bikes there are? Copenhagen is a cycling paradise. And also a double-decker coach paradise, I see… And how close the signs look from here, by the way!

Look at the towers, they are called Kaktus for quite obvious reasons. 😅 Ready Set… Already! Before crossing the strait on the way to Malmö, we stopped at the airport. It is a very short stop. I love this corridor-bridge at Copenhagen Airport! We return to the road towards the tunnel…

Because yes, to get to this famous bridge, you must first go through a tunnel. And we have the reason there: airplanes. It was necessary to first build a tunnel so as not to hinder air traffic… … nor the maritime one, especially thinking about the ice and bad weather.

In this way, above the tunnel, there is a large maritime and air space. Of course, for this it was necessary to build an island 3.5 km away. It is the artificial island of Peberholm, measuring 130 hectares. It is on this island where the tunnel ends and, at the same time, the bridge begins.

We already see the light at the end of the tunnel. Literally. 😅 Now welcome to the artificial island of Peberholm. Although don’t get too attached because in a few meters we will say goodbye… …and begins the longest combined train-road bridge in Europe. A work of art of modern engineering.

The tracks run parallel across the island, but are located under the road on the bridge. Rail transport is provided jointly by the Danish company DSB and the Swedish company SJ. This bridge has one of the largest central spans of cable-stayed bridges. And it reaches 490 meters.

And what is the total length of this bridge? Well, nothing less than 7,845 meters. They correspond approximately to half the distance between Denmark and Sweden. The Øresund (or Öresund) bridge-tunnel began construction in 1995. And it was not inaugurated until the summer of 2000.

And these two pairs of towers have a height of 204 meters. And I’ll shut up, let’s enjoy the moment. Impressive, don’t you think? From the Oresund Bridge, we can also see the Turning Torso skyscraper. There is the tallest building in Scandinavia at 190 meters. It looks like they are doing some maintenance work.

With this last method, the bus will pay the toll. Oh, it looks like we have border control in sight… And we had it, yes. After getting off the bus and showing our documentation, we were able to continue the trip. An IKEA! The proof that we are in Sweden. 😁

And the sign of entering Malmö We also do it for a really useful bus-only lane. Surely when there is traffic it is a pleasure to move forward without suffering the traffic jam. Long live public transportation! 😀 Turning Torso again. It is considered the first twisted skyscraper in the world, by the way.

Our stop is next to the central station, so we must be close. Oh no. Let’s crash into that tree! Well, it was more of a caress. 😅 There is Malmö Centralstation. And in the foreground one of the city’s canals. We arrived! We say goodbye to this comfortable coach.

And we find beautiful Malmö. Malmö has a very good public transport network and buses like this one. It’s Van Holl’s stunning Exqui.City24. It combines the flexibility of a bus with the efficiency of a tram. I love it! And from the new part of the central station I say goodbye.
