Interested to know if anyone has experienced this. I have a 2021 Checkpoint SL 5 in the Dark Olive color. Love the bike. I was missing a clip for my bike rack and used a bungie just to get it home from getting new tires. Bad move. Bungie failed. Bike bounced and hit the frame of the bike rack. It cracked/ flaked the paint on the under side of the top tube. It’s still chipping off if I put my nail to it. I took it into Trek and the techs there confirmed it looks like just the paint layer and the carbon is still smooth and intact. They sent pictures to Trek corporate. With my limited knowledge of paint/ composites I wonder if there was a production issue with the matte paint or in the prep before paint. It seems as if the entire paint is like a shell on the carbon but if I kept chipping I could continue to remove it along the rest of the bike. Any input appreciated. Thanks.
