Amazon uh for a tener that’s pretty good going I like that and I got I got as well which I might go into a little bit later today or I might even go into it a little bit deeper next week but it’s a jolly good magazine it really is and

Then we ReDiscover things like paradisa bis men all the all the sets that we couldn’t have as a kid the big ones um yeah forestmen Pirates uh all the space mtron space mtron space ice planets yes yes yes uh yeah anything from 1989 to early 90s
Just kind of our Heyday for Lego uh before we put it down and put it away and grew up and yeah redis discovered it later yeah then we start making friendships and then we started taking Parts in lots of um challenges yeah um we started with Kate brick hun so we’ve
Been doing most of our challenges oh yeah so so in case anyone knows Kate does like um habitats and kind of mocks every month doesn’t she yeah very cool so it just from there like just the collection grew um Instagram was kind of like a good place to be like two years
Ago right Instagram was all about photographs now it’s all about videos is talk about change your tune it really is very very changed um yeah know but all good it’s it’s good when have a full-time job and you kind of like have an adult life to come and come and play
With Lego or be with Lego it’s very good for mental health as well yeah yeah no definitely definitely um and that’s something I always like to touch on every now and again actually um but it’s also great that we both love it so it’s something that we yeah how’s that how do

Hope you’re all doing well listen to him uh he’s he’s a twitcher uh which is why his camera twitches quite a lot uh olle tell us a little bit about yourself and um you’ve got a really interesting background because uh I’m just throwing this out there folks because you used to
Build Muppets or puppets and stuff like that um and I want to know a little bit about you and how in Earth did that transition from that into building Lego because and and and before you say anything uh I want to thank you for for for helping being part of and developing
Uh one of the best Minifigures of all time uh that is of course as everyone is thinking well if where’s he going with this he’s of course Big Bird superb you see s relief on Allie’s face then he one of the best Minifigures of all time it really is folks adore him
He’s he’s fantastic I love it and uh we love having you on here as well so tell us a little about you ollie has a nice sort of segue into there yeah uh so yeah I’m olle I’m a senior model designer um currently The LEGO Ideas team but I’ve
Also kind of worked in Duplo and four plus and Disney Disney princess Disney Animation um uh I’ve been the LEGO Group for about seven years now seven or eight years nice it flies very fast um yeah and as as you kind of alluded to before
I kind of uh had this amazing job in Denmark I um I used to I was a I trained as a model maker so I used to make props for TVs and films um and then kind of anything that anything that came my way
I kind of grabbed um and yeah I kind of I did some some puppetry stuff some stop motion animation puppets and things um stuff for yeah for for Blockbuster films and and the movies not the not the video rental place um and uh yeah um and actually kind of like I’ve
Always been an AA well as a kid I was okay for um but then um kind of I had a bit of a Dark Age during University obviously kind of Lego quite expensive when you have no money um and so I uh yeah had a bit of Dark Age and
Then um kept on submitting to to Lego uh Lego design kind of like for graphic design positions or model design positions kind of after that um and then I went off uh and worked a company that makes large Lego models uh kind of commissions and things um and so we made this large
Um uh actually it was it was Tower Bridge it was it was a at the time it was a that’s the other channel yeah to bridge bricks um and uh yes we built this it was six million bricks and um it was like six
Months of my life with a team of like 20 or 30 people um and then kind of at the end of that uh I was actually kind of assembling this bridge it was a it was a commission that was by um Jaguar Land Rover to launch their new Lego
Lego the new Discovery Land Rover Discovery um uh yeah and then I kind of got a call kind of asked me to come over to Denmark and and come and start working in the the dup team uh and then from then I just kind of yeah lived in
Denmark and lived the dream when when they said to you can I build some Duplo did you say a minute I’ve just built Tower Bridge 10 billion Parts well so it was actually like my previous job so um yeah working in stop motion animation working in kids
Animation kind of um there was this amazing meld of kind of like oh you know you know all the preschool IPS and also you know you can build we kind of seen your portfolio um yeah and and and I was I was happy kind of like building models for anybody
Kind of I I love I love Lego the brand so it was kind of like I don’t I don’t mind where I am I’m I’m I’m I’m inside the the Cathedral of of bricks really um so actually yeah my first Lego model was this guy um ironically called my first dinosaur
Uh I got to ask how long did it take you to design that yeah it’s about six months to models like it’s a long time no but so a model like this is is is quite it’s it’s a good kind of like training exercise in in kind of our Lego
Design process and um uh so you get to learn all about product safety and and kind of our material testing and all that kind of stuff um and then packaging and and merch the promotional content as well so it was kind of a great kind of yeah uh microcosm of of the entire
Process um did you make Olaf Sor I interrupt you there that that Olaf right below it as well yeah so that was actually that was my first Disney sco was cool we had that have it I love so he actually started as a desk toy it was like a kind of a you
Know we had like sprad bricks on the table and just start putting together kind of like and then he started kind of Disappearing and then I had to build another one and and then like he appear on someone like Ninjago Destin Ninjago whatever and then so I ended up building
About half a dozen of the this Olaf just you got let him go you got to let him go Ollie you got and then it was kind of like that was kind of sold in as like well actually you know what like if people U steaming it from my desk then maybe it
Might be quite quite nice to see him out there in the world as well um but yeah I I I Adore character builds so um yes so actually I I started off with this and then moved on to the large Mickey Mickey and Minnie Mouse um from that was a bit
You had a bit of a steep jump actually I I think I I don’t know if this is chronological order but you even did a rebel awing star fighter as well oh yeah yeah so um yeah so I progressed slowly from 18 months now to to 18 years so
I’ve kind of done entire Spectrum so yeah so I started in Duplo um and then kind of like in Spare Time free building and and kind of um you know filling my desk full of all kind of like the dream mocks that I’ve been dreaming uh dreaming of building or have digital
Files of when before I started at Lego um and then kind of yeah my my I finished a year in Duplo and then um uh Lego Juniors as it was at the time and then become Lego 4 plus was kind of going through this kind of this this
Change and so it kind of it grew and we kind of we moved into new franchises like Star Wars and um we were kind of exploring kind of larger um four plus sets and things and so kind of the team grew then and then I worked there for a
Year and then um I did uh the Disney princess stuff uh in four plus that year and then kind of migrated from that to to staying with the dis Disney princess team um and then we kind of started exploring kind of new avenues of what kind of Disney Princess um what the
Disney uh what we could do with Disney um and so yeah that’s where we kind of started making um we had the uh yeah big big I what it’s called now Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse buildable statues called them mini and Mickey Mouse UCS sets yeah big Mickey and big mini
Yeah I think two you’ve got one you’ve got them haven’t you are those two there we are them over there that’s it very nice yeah so for that opportunity also to develop some fantastic kind of elements oh yeah there we go oh there we go the arms the arms
And the his legs and his and his his eyes that was kind of like a whole new experience and kind of um it’s quite big is it working with it yeah it is it’s massive was such an amazing kind of um well put that one away he didn’t build that
One it was such an amazing kind of collaboration with all our kind of like engineering teams as well because like the oh is that the weight distribution of that model is is it’s all topheavy Mickey Mouse is everything all the way in his shoes and then all the way in his
Head and his ears there’s not a lot in between so um they no a space helmet that’s a good detail sorry knows it’s a space helmet isn’t it oh I mean that was that was a bit of my kind of fan leaking out was kind of like it’ been a long
Time since we had that helmet and I and and that was actually because we had the Benny helmet um it Lego Movie 2 I think Lego Movie of the helmet that had the not the non- cracked um jaw and so uh we thought actually kind of like loads of
People have got those those those black Shon helmets I’ve got cracked uh chin strap so let’s kind of let’s make that um and also it was element for for the for the nose I I tried a lot of their different kind of voodoo balls and things and it was just like it’s not
It’s not given the same Vibe as a classic space helmet yeah make it a thing very cool all right Ollie that’s brilliant that was um I I definitely want to ask you a little bit later about your thing with uh London transport because I’m I’m seeing a lot of egg uh a
Lot of Easter eggs uh in you in that room you’re in regarding London transport which is bizarre which even weird that you got the same jumper as me on as well which straight away say you know you’ve got you’re consciously very fashionable what can I say um great to

How’s your week in Lego been have you been up to much you’ve been doing any any mocks or anything like that um yeah I am working on a new module for new Hashima version Atlanta brickcon so um it’s going to be roughly two3 the size of what was at Brick World which was
Approximately a 20 by 20 foot triangle um so we’re about 23ds of that so it’s going to be big so I’m building something new it’s kind of inspired a little bit more by Hong like a Hong Kong apartment building yeah love it hold on I worked in Hong Kong for a
Few months I only went out there for a week I got stuck out there for three months it’s a long story but anyway uh and you know they got a thing over there about not using curtains appropriately honestly that’s the thing my God how big
Is that we got a little manga shop here in the base and then um again it’s like kind of like that halfhazard apartments with AC units all over the place yeah they’re everywhere um and then we’re doing like a ball house style um office complex next to it but it’s all greened
Up so it’s kind of a little cyber Punky I describe it if cyber Punk and Cy cyberpunk and ball house went and had a baby it would be the building a building next to it so and and you put have you put lights in it already as well well
It’s so much easier when you’re putting lights in the mock to build it with the lights in say that the ones down here um in the little sign are single LEDs that I my husband soers up or I slauter up um and it’s just impossible if you want
Place those in it’s so much easier to do it while you’re building so yeah um I agree with Craig actually um um the green is like that is a weird green but it’s it goes really well it works well I was looking um one of the one of the a
Falls that was at Brick world who did um a building that was right next to where my buildings were in new Hashima he went to Hong Kong for a month and he’s been just uploading these crazy pictures and it’s all these you a lot of these apartment blocks and they’re all faded
Right because they’re all old you know like their 60s or 50s yeah all very pale colors because they’ve been such so many so much sun so I wanted to get something that was colorful but still kind of pale so and then um I got an awesome pick a
Brick order before the pick a brick service closed they’ve closed down there they for Christmas yeah I got right in before the Clos we’re waiting for those parts as well so oh you go all G to America mate I order I ordered that on the 10th of
November and it came like two or three days ago oh great we order the same around the same date oh that’s good they’re coming they’re coming before I know SS Christmas U marith I got to ask you right your friend you got a friend in Hong Kong at the moment yeah um no
They left they came back um can you ask him I need another opinion because no one ever seems to have noticed this about Hong Kong but I no a lot of people in Hong Kong walk around with trollies for some reason I’m not talking about the sort of trolley that you’ll go to
Tesos in or SS or something like that or Walmart I’m I’m talking like these are full-on proper metal trolleys I know everywh when I was over there selfies wasn’t even a thing that’s how long ago it was right and I was I just took about
I must have taken about 50 selfies of me with people with trolleys behind me uh it was a bizarre thing they just walk around with it like every day it’s B like me going out instead of taking a dog for a walk I’m going out with me
Trolley it was it was a weird thing was like it was a part of them or something like that and the these things were passed down through generations it was crazy but it was it was true as well ask ask your friend about it did they notice a lot of
Trolleys out there just saying they no a lot of AC units have hazly placed on buildings so that was my uh one of my instrument inspiration so very good very good um where we go let’s go up north a little bit Chris Chris uh Chris you’ve
Been a bit busy recently with the old videos uh of course you’ve you’ve uh acquired um a a new a new speci of uh pet in your home as well oh of course yeah I got a little puppy tell us tell us a little bit about
Maisy and and this this one of your latest videos that you’ve got that that stars Maisy yeah well the um I didn’t want a puppy my girlfriend did I really didn’t want one um but two days a week she doesn’t work from home she goes out to
Work um and so for th those two days I had to basically spend 247 with this puppy so obviously I got some Lego training sets out um the puppy was kind of going around chasing them around and I thought while she’s still only about this big I can probably build a Lego
Train which he can ride around in um so there was a lot of trial and error I had to make um obviously I had loads of loads of extra Motors I to make the train like really wide um so I had to add extra Wheels on the edges kind of
Like stabilizers on a bike and they don’t run on the track they just run on the floor um and I got it to work in the end and the puppy uh stayed in the train as it went around it did a couple of laps was in there for about two or three
Minutes loved it that’s awesome I say loved it tolerated it which is yeah and by already by now she’s far too big to fit so and what about and what about your cats as well uh Ralph and Bella uh what did they think this cuz like it’s it’s a
Bit like U you have kids and stuff like that you have a daughter and you kind of get used to it you kind yeah yeah and then and then you have a a son and it just goes all out it’s like this is completely it’s like a different species
Um what is it like having a dog with with your cat so your cat’s thinking get me away from this thing it’s yes it’s weird I um there’s lots of different things I didn’t expect I’ve never had a dog before and there’s loads of weird things like when the dog sat with you
And it’s happy it’s not purring and that just just feels really weird someone who own cats um but so far the cats haven’t interacted with it the dog uh she’s kept in a in the dining room and it’s got a gate on it so the cats kind of go up and
Have a look um and they don’t seem scared they just seem very disinterested he obviously wants to play with them and stuff but that probably means bite them um but yeah it’s it’s got to kind of happen slowly um you can’t really force it otherwise it won’t
Go well yeah yeah oh yeah yeah it’s a psychology thing you’ve been reading up on books and stuff like that about it haven’t you yeah so um I’ve read a load of books we’ve got uh we started puppy training this week a place because there’s nothing worse than I think part
Of the reason I I don’t I wouldn’t say I don’t like dogs part of the reason I’ve been more leaning towards cats is a lot of the dogs you meet just aren’t uh this might be controversial aren’t particularly nice aren’t well trained aren’t well behaved and stuff so
Obviously I’m making very certain that mid is yeah and I say I am it’s mainly my girlfriend Danielle she’s doing all the training and stuff um but she’s very well behaved already on certain things and awful other things um but yeah she’s getting there brilliant okay she’s a good
Girl she’s a good girl puppy whenever are there puppies just full of energy they run around and they just literally just fall asleep wherever they are it’s weird it’s 18 hours a day which is pretty mental wow and how big will mayy get is she is she a big dog
Mediumsized sort of dog I think a mediumsized dog um and I think compared to the other puppies in lither she was the smallest one so hopefully like a smaller medium dog yeah um but yeah crossed is that be like ball Masti or something like that in Disguise uh but yeah it’s
No it’s exciting though are you kind of warming to Maisy a little bit or you just like when she’s naughty it’s like you say you say to your other half your dogs goes in a mess or something like that you say it’s your fault it’s your
Dog both um obviously it’s hard not to love a puppy they’re adorable they just want to be with you and stuff and when she’s sleepy she’s uh she’s so lovely um she just wants to kind of cuddle into your face basically but then when she’s awake no
When a lot of the time when she’s awake she’s playing and stuff and then I think it’s mainly when she gets tired she turns into a terror yeah um and that’s usually when I leave the room we adopted a dog about a year and a

Um I think Duplo was the first time we did Electro um kind of classic comic Electro yeah that was kind of that was one where it was kind of like I I was really surprised that D did it before we had minifigure uh Electro from
Spider-Man but uh I I love it I I um I was fortunate enough to work on uh the first Jurassic world skus uh to bring back loads of dinosaurs and things and it was I think I have it in the brick list it’s it’s like the fourth or fifth
Depiction of Chris Pratt we’ve done as a as a Lego character he’s got so many characters yeah he has he has oh okay yeah T-Rex Tower was it that one oh it was both of them actually it was it’s that and then what the one called it’s playground uh dino kid
Playground Dino just start naming them Chris Pratt in yeah Chris why don’t we have a Chris Pratt theme in Lego Ollie it out there we had the Lego movie that’s true that’s true was Lego Movie as well yeah he’s he’s in wow I I did not know that yeah he must just have
Them all lined up at home I would he must just earn money just from that from being get like 1% of every minifigure sold or something like that of him uh that’d be quite good wouldn’t it be really really good um I’d love to have that actually does anyone know

A lot of your sets that you do Chris uh or rather I should say olle um is a lot of your charact characters that you have in uh in in your Lego sets because you’ve done the up house I think he’s got one as well but you you do seem to
Like mustaches in in your sets like the A-frame cabin um he’s a mustache in there you got the sort for the Orient Express um you’ve got well it was a bit of a I know that was a bit of a thing for Thomas but then
Thomas does got he’s got a pyro style uh mustache hasn’t he like and yeah it was uh that is the thing what’s what’s the thing Tash because you’re making the Tash look good that’s the thing uh yeah I mean I guess uh I mean the the the character that’s in the
A-frame cabin he’s one that actually I think Lego City use him a lot as kind of like the dad so he’s uh he’s appearing a lot of the sets kind of um as kind of like the wholesome dad that has the uh uh there was kind of I think it’s some
Like Community um like minifigure packs and they’re kind of like as the the the different versions came out year after year kind of like you saw that family kind of grow and and uh that was that was quite cool like the camper the camp yeah the camper yeah and then yeah they
Started appearing in the community packs and then yeah he plays everywhere because I I mean I I love that head it’s great it’s got two fantastic Expressions um and and when we have a head like that it’s it’s great for storytelling on kind of like all the packaging and the the
Lifestyle photos as well and like even when we kind of occasionally do kind of anim Motions like the the the aame cabin had a a really cool kind of like um think it was like twoh hour kind of long form uh kind of relax relaxation um animation that was like really cool did
Yeah yeah and so it’s great for those kind of instances but um yeah we can’t always do it but actually kind of like a great example was with Thomas we had that we had we had that head and it was only one-sided and we kind of really
Wanted to use that hat because it kind of evokes kind of like the oldfashioned kind of um film designer uh film film director sorry um and so everything kind of worked out and that’s kind of like another thing is like trying to find heads that match hair and kind of you
Can create characters with is is a is a tough one so I actually think that all of the heads in the aame cabin have alternative alternative Expressions so you kind of the idea with those characters was to mix and match you can mix and match them so actually kind of
In all the packaging photos there’s different combinations of all the torsos and the legs and heads and hair so you can kind of make it the kind of the the the um experience that you want to kind of um it’s kind of that Finishing Touch
You kind of customize it to make it your own really yeah which is kind of like a big thing that Lego’s all around should we take a look we we’re here we’re talking about it let’s add a little bit to the uh the description of it this is
It here folks this I’ll pop us all down here that’s it there we are uh now we we are fans of this Set uh olle uh we are fans of this set there there’s always one thing there’s one thing about it that’s always a bit like oh uh that we
Can’t like everything Ollie we can’t like everything but we do we like I said we do on the whole like this set it what the funny thing with this set and and and I’ve heard um Justin even talk about this as well and that’s the trees uh that that was the trees
Um we some people think they’re bit spindley uh some people think they were they should have been a bit more fluffy but what what was your thing with these what I mean are they expensive to make because that’s the thing that we just sort of come to the conclusion is they
Must be really expensive to make yeah that that was kind of the headline really was the fact that when we we took um andreas’ uh uh submission had some amazing kind of uh really tall amazing kind of uh uh pine trees and um yeah they they looked amazing and
They they kind of dwarfed the the uh the model uh the his his original submission so when we were scaling down uh the the A-frame cabin um to kind of make it kind of a 360 kind of because it has a back to it whereas his uh submission was kind
Of like open backed um the the trees then started kind of look very kind of over over imposing uh so we kind of scaled them down but they still kind of they were they they soak up a lot of the the elements and the um were kind of like reduced reduced the
Peace count right down because they were kind of like big big large pieces but they’re also individually they’re kind of quite expensive pieces um so we kind of went with this direction of kind of doing yeah the the the smaller trees um and this was kind of in development the
Same time as rivendale so we actually kind of had a big building boost where we just built loads of different types of trees and then kind of worked out kind of like what works best in riind what what what works best in here um uh yeah and and also like there was
We also had discussions about kind of the pine trees also evoking too much kind of the Alpine kind of uh landscape and we kind of wanted to make it a little bit kind of more um uh kind of generic really so it could be it’s it’s more seasonal so that’s why
We’ve kind of done the the three different types of trees is so you can kind of um if you have those extra pieces from like the Treehouse or something you can kind of like uh embellish it um yeah but you can also kind of yeah there’s there’s there’s a seasonal thing
Going on whereas the what we were kind of exploring with like the Alpine um thing was like maybe doing snow but then the snow was just also kind of um driving the the the the price and the peace count up kind of by a large amount
But also kind of not um it’s something we couldn’t then communicate kind of well on the box uh so we kind of felt that kind of this was the direction and it was as with all Lego idea sets it’s kind of a real amazing partnership with
The fan designer to kind of like take them on that journey and kind of um explore these Alternatives and and kind of like we we we we uh showed Andrea the the the process we went through and he was kind of like yeah he
He signed off it he signed off on it and he kind of gave it up and is it are they can they be quite different like I mean obviously people are different but some of them like very Hands-On and other ones are like yeah yeah just do what you
Like or you know call me every week call me once a month that sort of thing what it’s yeah so I mean it is this is why I kind of like I I was moving to I’ve always tried to move to Lego ideas is because I love it I love the the
Principle and and the platform so much I I was there on when back when it was auso kind of submitting projects and so kind of I’ve made that transition from kind of like fan submitter to now kind of uh to model designer which is which has been an amazing um kind of peek
Behind the curtain but uh um yeah the the the partnership is is completely unique and we if each set and we kind of establish that from the outset it’s kind of like we we have these amazing kind of calls where we kind of reveal that with
This this is going to be the next model we’re going to make and we’ve actually chosen your submission and then from there we kind of have kind of um uh yeah that dialogue starts about how how how they want to kind of be involved sometimes they um are quite hands off
They they kind of they they kind of yeah they don’t really want to see behind the curtain they kind of really want to kind of uh see what we can we come with and then kind of they they approve that um other people kind of have kind of
Requests and and kind of things they want to see um and then we kind of work towards those those briefs as well um and then we also when we have another IP partner um we also have to involve them um and so there is a kind of a a
Discussion or a a um a kind of uh uh change in the relationship dynamic because obviously we can’t we can’t do something that the fan designer would really like to see but is kind of against the the brand principles of whatever the the IP is they kind of have
More uh control over kind of what they’re uh creating and kind of what what they what they have ownership on um I ask a quick question go fore yeah yeah um will um is ideas’s gonna start maybe pushing to less IP um it just seems like there’s an explosion like anytime
Something’s popular in pop culture it’s like it’s gon to be on LEGO Ideas like within a week so I didn’t know if they were trying to to me I like the Lego idea sets that are like truly like unique like the arra cabin um that are just out of somebody’s head versus like
20 Taylor not to say I don’t like Taylor Swift but like 20 the 20s Taylor Swift love houses I think that are on are that are on LEGO Ideas right now it’s it’s um yeah I mean it abs and flows it really depends on what’s on the platform um
What kind of inspires uh kind of our our kind of stakeholder team and us um but also like Lego ideas is about doing kind of new things and and and we always kind of say we we’re trying to do the things that no one else will do um uh to kind
Of it’s It’s almost like an internal pitch where we kind of go hey you like his his uh Lego Friends the TV series what do we think and then kind of like icons will kind of look at it and go oh actually this is this is really cool
There’s more in this world and things um and so yeah and that’s that’s kind of like being the that’s that’s what Lego ideas has been since day one especially when it comes to IP so like Minecraft was was Lego ideas initially Lego Sonic
Was a was one um uh so it’s kind of like a yeah like a it’s a bit of a Dragon’s Den where we kind of we make the model we kind of show it to the the rest of the of the organization and kind of see
What we can do um but it’s also kind of about different types of people as well so like the the BTS set is uh for a completely different audio than something like the typewriter or the globe or or like the train for example um and so it’s kind of also like hitting
That balance between kind of the the the different kind of demographics and um sometimes yeah the the the IP discussion is kind of maybe kind of left to filled and we kind of like um decide on a project with and and then kind of like realize as an IP or kind of
Like we have to do some things to to change it to make it different um I I don’t envy you in all those decisions well it’s fantastic so it’s like where is like um when I worked in Disney it was it was very much about having an
Amazing partnership with this the one IP partner and it was It was kind of you got to know the people inside out and you kind of like we we you have this real amazing Dynamic whereas ideas are so much different because we are always looking to work with new people um it’s
Always a kind of I mean Polaroid is a great example where like the we we kind of we we started this dialogue and like they were really eager to work with us and we really eager to work with them and then we kind of have to show them
Kind of the Lego way of working and the kind of what we do what we can’t do um and all those sort kind of things and so actually just bringing people on that journey is is an amazing part of of being part of The LEGO Ideas team
Um just I’m not I’m gonna be quiet after this but I have to say the the Vincent van Gogh starry night that was my favorite set of last year and it’s beautiful in the techniques on some of on some of the getting the angles on the
Clouds that are in the back around in the tree out front shess kiss shess kiss so that was um so for for the overwhelmed majority of Lego idea sets we we try to get uh Lego designers who are really passionate about the project so if if they are uh a
A I mean I mean I just happen to be on the on the project at the time but like for me kind of like trains is my big kind of like the thing I love about Lego and I love just in general and so it was
Like amazing to be able to kind of work on that but then we kind of we get designers from all different projects come and join us as kind of guest designers to kind of uh if they have a real passion for for for anything really anything on the platform it’s what’s
Amazing is we because we can see what’s kind of coming and what’s what’s what’s going to be there kind of but potentially reaching 10,000 and kind of what we can what we can do you start kind of having designers kind of like coming around the area and kind of
Questioning kind of like I see there’s this this project or this project I actually really love uh let me show you my tattoos of all these uh you know I mean the the SES was a great example where it was just like it was kind of
Like an internal Flex of trying to find who who was like the biggest kind of Muppet head really um and so we got yeah so I I was that was that was one where I was I was pitching to S creative lead at the time just just kind of like yeah
Praying you must you must have loved it when they when they showed you the the the the the molds uh of of the Minifigures of those like big bird and stuff like that you must have thought this is this is just going to be a winner through through just using these figures
Alone and and that one especially was was such a um I mean I think that’s still kind of sits kind of on on on the top of my my kind of like what what what I’ve achieved and kind of what I love um what projects I’ve love to work on that
One was it was um sharing the kind of the Lego Journey with um uh Sesame Street Workshop who I kind of like I adore kind of like what they work what they do um it was the first project uh to um uh first Lego ideas project to have
New molds as well so actually that was one of the kind of caveats was we will only do Lego system Street if we can have new molds because we can’t we we kind of explored it a little bit with um with with uh minifig heads and the original Fant submission um also had
Ivan’s original submission also had minifigure heads um but it was kind of like it it was a little bit kind of against what kind of s Retreat Workshop was was kind of was about um and so yeah so when actually Sam said because because I yeah I’m big Lego ideas fan so
I kind of knew kind of like oh this this can’t happen this this won’t happen so when actually Sam said like actually we’re going to do it I was like it was a little bit kind of a heart palpitations where it was like oh wow we’re actually getting we’re getting new we’re getting
Muppet Minifigures that’s amazing that is I mean that is it and like like I said that this I mean I think vanov was the best minifigure of last year for sure um arguably anyway there were some crackers last year some bangers as we like to say on here um Big Bird did it
For me I think the year before that uh it was and yeah it’s just it’s just pretty damn cool it’s really good um let’s have a quick look at the polar camera and then we we I want to speak to uh to gay FS as well and then we we’ll
Look at some pictures P’s been sending us pictures while we’ve been live as well um so polid camera uh this is this is this is a bit of a strange one this is kind of for me this is in the Realms of almost kind of like Lego realistic uh things like the
Typewriter and stuff like that it’s really it’s quite quite an odd one an interesting one um ol let’s start with you Ki kick this only because I think you kind of maybe you’re kind of in and around this sort of area and um yeah this made by James
Uh an amazing designer who’s he’s worked on um he’s he did the BTS set and he’s done Hocus Pocus uh and so this was kind of I think the one after Hocus Pocus he worked on um uh and yeah he’s a true kind of uh I think 90s 2000 kid so he absolutely
Loved this um yeah and this is again like I think this is kind of this is core Lego ideas this is something which is so left the filled and so kind of um uh unexpected and it is the kind of only thing that un unless there was a Phantom
Mission that that that inter made yeah it would never be made considered it um and yeah it kind of it fits that of that that niche of of or that that that the the the thing of of like the typewriter and actually James worked on as well
Like you kind of know the meis inside pretty good um yeah so yeah actually he’s I think he’s in that lifestyle photo he’s uh I think he’s the guy is it is this him no actually he is in this he he is one of the very rare designers
That has been part of Lifestyle shoot um maybe it’s further down on the page but that was very weird seeing that because he kept that secret from from everybody I don’t think there’s any others in there unless he was he in the video or they’ve just not released it
Yet they might yeah it might be coming but um no actually he’s in one of the Polaroids in the background there ah okay fair enough I see that’s a good one to be but yeah it’s it’s a it’s a real kind of I mean it’s oneto one it’s it’s
Uh we we we got sent the this version of the of the camera by Polaroid and you put them next to each other and apart from like the studs where we kind of we had this dialogue with Polaroid about actually kind of having studs on the
Model because it was kind of like we had a version where it was so clean and it was actually kind of like we both agreed that actually you want to see studs you want to be able to kind of see I agree that’s I want to see stuff Lego five I
Don’t need it to be hyper realistic I I want to see it’s like I want to see Legos into every sometimes when people say that about Minifigures and they’re like oh it could do with this it could do with that and it’s like it’s an interpretation in Lego
Um I don’t want it to be hyper realistic otherwise like it’s a bit like Star Wars minifigures um if I want it to be hyper realistic and I do this anyway um I’ll buy the Hasbro Black Series stuff you know um but I want it to be kind of
Close pretty close with the with the Lego stuff nonetheless and certain aspects to be absolutely spot on um but just I mean just just one one more thing about this model you can’t kind of see in any photo is like the the the the audio audio feedback you get from it
Because it is the mechanism aside is is mechanical and uh that was one of the things that James really worked on was getting that kind of that clunk so I see it in a launch trailer or something it’s a teaser for it um that has really good
Video I’ve seen the video I don’t know if this has got it we can play it I I can’t I got to turn the sound down uh otherwise get struck down by Lego uh and it’ll be Lego laia or something like that what’s all that about uh if heiz it would be like
Leg everyone where everyone shops or something like that it’s like no it’s legol laia does it to me I don’t know why anyway I’ll go do I’ll be really quick uh there we go so it’s running around um but yeah it has that when when you
When you feed the camera in when you actually press the button press the the red button down it makes this kind of awesome clunk clunk and then as you pull it out it makes it makes a kind of really awesome noise as well it’s it’s yeah it’s quite an achievement for
Something that was had to also kind of the the front latch also has to come down as well like it was real yeah it was it was a real amazing thing to to for him to work on I think to get it to work looks
Amazing it’s just is bit is quite fun is it but they’ve done another video another live where where a horse is coming along and Lego make a complete joke about the fact you will never catch a moment with even though he got a h of his tongue hanging out like it looked
Like a beautiful moment it it looked like something from um you know the black horse adverts and and then it sticks his tongue out and you get photograph of it and it it’s it does it take Lego just basically makes fun of its own product in that respect which is
Kind of quite cool um yeah this is again this is quite a decent video I mean they’re not down in some sort of uh the World War III bunker for a start throw that one out there uh it’s so realistic it’s so realistic if you if
You close in on on this on this image here you’ll see mold around the window what’s all that about uh so it’s a real proper house which is kind of nice um but I it’s one of the strange perks of of being a designer is you you also what
We call um we we’ve also become toy doctors for the models we work on as well so the toy doctor’s job is basically like a makeup artist for the for the for the model um so we have to do these we have to kind of go go to
This this location um and kind of make sure the model is kind of dust free it’s built properly it’s kind of like we’re showing the things we want to want to show if it’s got any functions we have to show that to the to the um the actors
That are there and all those kind of things so is is a strange perk so actually that was one of the for the on Express I I got to go to to go on the or Express in in Ruan with with Francis buar as well which was another kind of
Very bizarre thing that’s cool oh with Francis yeah what’s he did you both have like your little scarfs that you uh you you wear cuz you you wear the same scarf as him like a a sort of London transport chair I did have it I have actually an
Amazing photo that um that day I I was wearing like a big kind of like Overcoat that has over coat that has big Pockets because you kind of you need things like brushes glues knives all that kind of stuff to kind of turn around models really fast
Um are we allowed to ask uh what sets you’re actually working on now that are in production yeah I have this amazing phot uh I have this amazing photo of us both wearing uh this blue striped uh he’s wearing his pajamas I’m wearing this kind of trench coat kind of thing
And it’s just like it’s the same stri pattern as well it’s a very very interesting photo I she probably share it they very cool because he was one um like like I was a huge fan of him like during lockdown like seeing him out back in the
UK and also kind of he’s a nice kind of window back to kind of like UK trains and that kind of that kind of environment so um to then kind of uh the idea was floated initially that kind of like oh we could we could work with him
Like we could do like we’re looking for someone who’s kind of like in this space and I S I suggested him kind of like very like yeah yeah like this guy he’s like we never get him but like he’s he’s he’s this guy like I’ve followed him for
A while and then kind of having our marketing person come back and go he’s really cool he’s really authentic and awesome he’s he’s a big deal he’s the real deal he really is it’s like because I’ve had people in Australia say is he some sort of celebrity over there and
I’m like yeah he’s really big uh he’s massive um Andrew what what what have you got there that uh you want to show oh uh no my my wife she’s a wedding photographer videographer and she’s gotten back into vintage cameras so I have one of her polar cameras here I was
Going to I was going to wait till a moment so we could see everyone better but I was going to snap a picture with the Polaroid camera here it’s not the same yeah yeah we’ll do that say we’ll have a proper Polaroid moment well that’s first time in a long
Time um I got asked as well this he’s he’s a Dappa man for his age as well this it yeah so I think um so you get hear amazing stories about these kind of these these actors and and these kind of this this these talent that kind of work
He um I think won like the Danish version of Survivor one year or like something like you hear these amazing things that they do where like they’re kind of like that’s things and adverts and things so yeah he’s uh yeah this guy I for I really forget his
Name that something tells me the Danish version of Survivor is pretty hardcore yeah yeah there was um yeah uh uh um uh I think it was last week uh colleag came back from a lifestyle shoot and there was there was one of the actors there was in uh was one of the

From Lego house because he’s he’s done it on the on the pirates map he’s got where he’s a partner there kind of lives and he’s got like a dotted line going back to how he gets there from the UK by boat so that’s quite cool that’s quite cool
One of the joys of of being a designer also is you get to put loads and loads of Easter eggs and models oh yeah no I know you’re I know you you love you love the detail on things like that uh I remember Justin say that once as well um
All right so this’s let’s go something I’ve been ask dying to ask is K is kri kri you collect uh you collect these uh Lego idea sets no matter what you you do matter what is um I mean we had Thiago on once and I kind of alluded to the
Fact I didn’t have the ship in the bottle and he was quite devastated by it and he really was he’s such a diva H but love him to do you ever like do you ever think they come out with a set and you think oh God I got get that because yeah yeah
Yeah the the BTS one I was going to say oh what what have you got there Jake what you got there what’s that the it’s the bit from the BTS set yeah oh is it I’ve not made it yet it’s it’s the logo oh okay is that
The BTS and there was kind of the same with the office one as well until I watched the office I love it so much it’s hilarious I’ve got to start watching it I have I feel like I’ve watched the the office over the last two years via
Instagram I really do I’ve not watched the UK version but I watch started watching the American version I’m like I was watching the first two episodes it’s like this is stupid and then I just got into it and the American humor ridiculous but then I loved it so much I I got lucky

When I was developing the model uh I had kind of internal goal of putting every Lego color in that model because like SES street is all about color and about kind of Celebration and Vibes really uh and um kind of went through the entire process and and we
Finished the model and got done and then um I was building the the first production copy which kind of we as Lego designers we we get the the first production batch to kind of look and see if there’s any kind of like last minute issues we need to we correct or anything
Um and I was kind of l i was lining all the pieces out I’m trying to work out kind of like where’s where’s this one where’s this one uh and the only one that was missing was uh spring green there’s no I I don’t believe there’s any
Spring green on the model um and that’s because during development uh Oscar the Grouch was his uh head was spring green because it was uh used from like a previous troll set or something so we just had it as a placeholder uh and I actually yeah I kicked myself so hard
Because it was like I just you you look at the the development model and just kind of you just see it’s all there and then it was like oh no so yeah it was um yeah there is every I think every Lego color that existed at
The time except for uh the spring green the 2 two No 3 two three 21 34 something yeah okay very cool very cool now so it’s uh I I tell you what we right we we’ll come back to uh looking at that in a minute let’s make everyone a little bit bigger

Lan and the one that we will get ourselves um but yeah like our favorite themes for me is all the um cartoony themes like Lego Movie Batman movie Disney elves anything that is like color I mean all the renders that I do on on Studio I Chang the colors of the
Mini fig so the sets and I make them even more colorful or colors that don’t exist so the the ones I’ve just done is the um holiday habitats that they’re starting tomorrow oh yeah so the space one that I’ve done I’ve done a coral color space
Minifigure so for me it’s all about the colors and for Simon I think for both of us a bit of everything really yeah um you’re more classic I’m more classic always going back in time oh yeah Castle space pirates um been really good the last year with all the the old stuff coming
Back yes that book yes that’s something we really want to get it’s good it’s good mag this folks it really is uh it’s it’s a block magazine edition part of rflm of course and um well anyway uh might have a little competition about this uh in in in the coming week or two

Except Tech Techni I think we’ even got JL really I know not as much as I would he always refuses to get dup he said no we cannot go into the Dupo that’s going to be like even boxes but I do want the Disney castle in Dupo do you well
Actually no I’ve seen it I’m saying do you it’s actually really good uh maybe we’ll have a look at as some Duplo stuff uh in a minute but yeah I know I I I uh okay so we’ve got some interesting stuff coming we got some space stuff coming
For you I know I’m definitely going to be getting a couple of those Space sets um one one of them one of them’s called Interstellar spaceship is come on let it leverage it show hello which one uh it was the box one don’t be nervous uh you got the little spaceship one just
Ask us what you got we got camera there as well we got another camera yeah I think you’re allowed to show us that yeah you are yeah what’s your idea olle what’s what’s all that about in the timing why we got a threein one camera
And an a pooid as well uh I think it’s just one of those happy accidents it’s h good timing yeah exactly yeah that’s a model that I think has has been the the development time for Creator models are a little bit longer just because they you need to make three three models that
Are kind of like equally um uh they have to go through the same process that that traditional model would go through once yeah um so yeah I think that was kind of yeah in development but also like we we make so many models now and there’s so
Many designers it’s it’s quite hard to kind of keep keep an eye on what else everyone else is making really so actually kind of it is very cool sometimes just to see official announcements of kind of like like the Lego Friend stuff I know it’s like
That’s they they are as far away as possible in the in the building then we’re on kind of like we’re opposite ends of the building so it’s it’s quite hard to go and kind of see what they’re working on so actually kind of getting to see it kind of like all finished and
Like though those yeah Lego Friends this this this this year has just been on absolute fire like I I mean I I got to be honest I mean that again that’s a nice little segue for for for showing off something that Chris did recently with uh uh with Lego Friends which was
He was building if I can uh just get it up in time I think I’ve got it there we go uh he did something rather remarkable with this now I’ve seen this set in the flesh and this is a good set and I reckon this would be a good one to
Modularize as well put it in a city like you do um this is Heart Lake City Community Center £129.99 for 1513 pieces that’s pretty good going for you piece counters out there um Chris tell us a little bit about this short was it just a short or did you
Take a fullblown video and just make it a short because that was a pretty incredible video not that I want to give too much away because I think he said it just come out but is a short so you never quite know where they’re going to
Go but anyway tell tell us a little bit about this uh Adventure you had recently with this particular um yeah so I I bought 10 of them and combined them and basically stack them floor by floor to see how high I could go before it falls over and I got to 26 26
26 and out of them when they fell uh out of the ones that fell 16 survived like 16 floors survived so and I didn’t get round to even stacking 14 on top so I’ve got 30 still intact which is pretty good so I can still have a pretty tall tower which
Hopefully I’ll try and strengthen strengthen a bit um but aside from anything it’s got some really good parts in there as well more I can’t believe I haven’t actually looked at this yet I’m pretty sure we haven’t looked at this this is where I could do with being on because he’s a
Massive friends expert um but this could be a mo this could be a modular from from a distance I know he a bit flamboyant in color but that’s friends for you um it it is and it’s I say it and this isn’t a digol uh it’s got a
Decent tree uh as well you know some foliage going on there Ollie uh say that to a designer before uh but leave the man’s trees alone Greg leave his trees alone what can I say beautiful trees let them [Applause] bloom yeah maybe that’s the thing um so
Chris tell us um why did you pick this set and um the bo the ones that you didn’t actually use because you didn’t get that high are you you going to take that back to let go or are you gonna actually make some crazy rainbow tower
Out of it well I built all 40 floors um so I can’t return them or anything but they’re all you say you bought them by accident or something like that back broken yeah um but yeah um I originally had the idea with the Daily Bugle but it’s a really dull
Boring set kind of gray um and I like this because it’s a lot more it’s just very very colorful um a lot cheaper as well so it’s kind of easier to get 10 of them um and yeah I’m I’m you say like a full length video I’m working on another
Video uh Building 100 Lego buildings um so this is ob one of them and I just kind of stack them in that as well um but that’s more take usually a lot of people make shorts from the video but more this has been the short idea was
First I thought if I’m getting them I might as well use them in the video so yeah yeah is that the Heart Lake Community Kitchen behind you yes that’s the one that’s the ground floor where is it are you g to put that on the ground

His stats he loves his stats folks so it was 2.27 M yeah so regulations stacking it so what was that sorry did you stand on a chair when you were stacking it or did you just reach up to stack it yeah fullest point in my house and I had
A little ladder and when I put the top one on rather than just kind of crumbling I could feel in my hand that as soon as I let go it was going to fall um so I managed to kind of stand back so I wouldn’t ruin the shot as much and
Then it just fell into my wall perfectly intact know miror well I thought the m is going to go the mir’s going to go yeah to destroy it in another way was a lot fun yeah you what did you throw at it actually I was trying to I could see
I two uh remaining flaws oh that’s so funny um but yeah it’s it was a really good idea Chris I loved it and I would you would you recommend this set to get um because I’m gonna be doing a friend stream um we got some cool friend stuff
Coming up I think um I think the I think the absolute Humdinger of a one of the best sets of 2023 uh I think it’s I think this is what I just want to say I think it’s the best set of 2023 oh this one yeah yeah
Honestly um OE Lego Friends surpass the themselves with this one this is one of the best ones I’m saying one of the best ones I haven’t really thought about my top 10 of the year this is going to be in there without a doubt um again it’s got a really nice tree
That is a key feature of any good Lego set I’m just throwing that one out there uh um but this is this is a fabulous set Chris why is this for you the best set of 2023 uh the the kind of plant build so you’ve got like saxophones for uh the
Plants there you’ve got broom handle you’ve got mini figure shoulder pads you’ve got Mahin um you frogs you got like there’s a pumpkin and an egg for a cactus um the Pond’s really cool and it it’s just very it reminds me of like the Glass House at
Q Gardens um if it like I’m almost a bit disappointed it’s not a modular um and if it and that it comes with mini dolls if it if it was Minifigures it would be a solid 10 out of 10 be in more sets we need mini dolls in
Like idea sets Star Wars sets Marvel sets need them my daughter will not play with mini figs anymore the mini dolls and I know and I we have the Lego designer here somebody or Lego posted some article about when they developed friends they had all these play groups and the girls wanted
More realistic or looking instead of Blocky figs they wanted something that was not as blocky um but no she she likes the Expressions she loves anime and she finds the bigger eyes has that anabe Vibe on it um she likes that you know you can put stuff in their hair a
Lot of times um and she likes the fact that a lot of her friends she doesn’t feel yellow represents their skin tone and there’s a lot of representation in friends so she can go in and create all of her friends we had to do um we had to make her Lego
First robotics League last year in in mini figs and it was I was tearing open Harry Potter sets cuz you know the the kids wanted to be represented how they felt they looked versus the yellow flesh so I think part of that also is a thing
She just feels like her friends when she she has her whole Squad up on my shelf or her shelf area over there and like in a Lego brick case and she has them labeled like who’s who and they’re all laid out so she loves the mini doll
She’s she’s convinced me she has made a Believer out of me I like using mini dolls in some of my marks too fair enough IE legs isn’t it they don’t move separately though that that does drive me crazy though because when you have to sit them down you have to
Have that clippy thing and it’s hard that’s my only complaint is it possible could it would it be possible olle to actually one day potentially I don’t because I I haven’t read the rules that fine could we have a friend style mini mini doll style um I did
Set uh yeah I I don’t see there’s any reason why not um I I know I’ve never known anyone even mention it or think about it before this is this is this is so so the minid doll platform is is kind of like in in the
Grand scheme of kind of Lego history is is such a new thing it’s it’s um uh we yes it’s been around I think 10 years now I think just over 10 years um and so there’s there’s not that kind of that same Nostalgia that you get with kind of
Minifigures because they’ve been around for uh what is it now 40 50 years something like that it’s about 42 years yeah something yeah um and so uh yeah I think it’s that thing of just like people uh kind of fans don’t really consider mini dolls and they really
Should because it’s a it’s it’s a great diverse platform it’s it’s given us some amazing wigs uh throughout the history and um yeah and and and and like uh like you were saying it’s like it’s um it’s it’s the version of of Lego that worked for a a girl’s first audience um and
That’s something that we uh Lego Lego had done about six times before and it failed every time um and so that was what was different with friends is there was foundational research and and there was experts coming in and just at years and years of of of development to
Actually kind of work out what it is that that makes play different um for for for different people and to to to do something that isn’t just reskinning uh a a city set with with pink or put horses in or whatever this was a much more fundamental change and it’s it’s
It’s just evolved over over those 10 years it it evolved so fast and and it’s um the even like with the the choice of skin tones and and the the um the form means that it’s it’s much more kind of trend Trend based and it has to be kind
Of much more uh kind of on point all the time um which is amazing because it’s it’s it’s that constant kind of touching base with with making sure that it’s it’s relevant for kids um not to say that I mean City and and other projects
And njo things they they they do it in a different completely different way but friends has has I think especially with this kind of latest reboot has really kind of nailed what that kind of that cycle is or what that kind of what core proposition for friends is and and and
It’s it’s paying off and and I think everyone is uh is able to to to to bathe in the the the the outcome when you have like amazing sets like the Botanical Gardens and and yeah like the the the the their their modular street it’s they’ve taken the best of of other Lego
Themes and kind of made it work for Lego Friends um it’s really cool I’m a friend okay so that was that was when we did um so yeah I worked in Disney princess for three years um so I yeah I’m kind of I’m with you on the on the the legs not
Uh needing the the brackets and things but then also when you put ball gowns on top of those as well that don’t even have waste articulation that’s another whole whole ballpark but um uh yeah so like the the ice ice castle we we did a large kind of um uh
Mini doll based ice castle and that was because we had that that discussion about kind of the mini doll platform is now 10 years old it’s so it’s it’s it’s growing we are now seeing kids that have only played with mini dolls um because I don’t think we see much of a crossover
Between the two different platforms I think you kind of um kind of stick with one or you kind of you you migrate and then kind of yeah you make that transition and kind of don’t don’t go back um either way uh and so yeah it was it was uh that was
That kind of helped helped kind of test this this this idea of of is is there a is there a fan Community or is is there a a an up and age market for for we got the we got the ice castle as a day one purchase nice Elsa in the queen outfit
Before she goes I’ll let it go I love that mini that’s one of my favorite mini dolls right and and so that was one where we we were we we had discussions about kind of like what what do we take from like a Marvel Superhero set that
Kind of makes yeah would would work here and that was one of those things where like we need this we need those kind of one or two figures that just go all out so that’s why kind of like they they all have the amazing capes and we kind of
Worked a little bit on kind of doing a more kind of up and age more detailed kind of dresses and things and um yeah in my living room oh next to the Disney Castle so I haven’t I haven’t I haven’t done it but it really feels like it’s
One of those ones that kind of if you can get a light kit for it uh this is not endorsement by the way but a light behind it let’s say uh that would be cool um message from Greg he’s actually lost his internet so I don’t know how long we’re gonna be on
At this point we’re going rogue we’re going rogue so yeah we can just go Rogue and talk about him stuff like that that’s great but it’s um but yeah it was it was uh that was that was a really interesting actually because that was one
I got briefed on that model um the the week of lockdown in Denmark so it was this amazing kind of this week of of being briefed on a Tuesday and then kind of like staying at home from from a Thursday or Wednesday uh and so I remember just sitting at home going like
How am I gonna make this because we we really like just before we kind of like we we as we were briefing things it was very much like well this has to go all out it has to be like sparkly uh AF and we to be able to uh because it was also
The um the new aescent effect as well that was one where we kind of we used it sporadically but I think kind of um it was the first time it trickle down to actually kind of being used as as a as a as a as a a way
Of of it wasn’t just kind of doing one or two kind of special elements like the Tesseract or whatever it may be it was kind of like let’s make this the foundation of this model of like we have this opportunity to make an ice castle
How how can we uh we really amp up that that uh that sparkle Factor um that Disney Magic I’m addicted to Opals in Parts this is another pad I’m I’m one of the biggest Advocates of of opalescent because it was like we we we got given the the colors I think
Initially it was like four or five colors and um no one was using it when it was just in Disney princess and I think kind of the there was two models I worked on two different the Mi actually it was Mickey Mouse and I think an
Aurora set and it was the first instance of both of those col a opis being used because it was just not um it it was it was yeah perceived as a very kind of like uh sparkly kind of um kind of minor color and yeah Disney princess is all about Sparkle and all
About magic so it was kind of like let’s let’s do it let’s let’s get as much as we can uh in in the models and uh yeah I think I think it’s it’s it’s paid off and now actually kind of like seeing it in like something like dreams and kind
Of like working in dreams amazingly well for for um what’s his name it’s not Ecto is it Ecto uh no it’s the girl is it the girl’s hair I got it I got those on the pad order too oh yeah it’s it’s all over the
Place it’s like so it’s like the no the Z blob oples green I believe um uh yeah just like all over the place you see it now it’s like it’s is cool it’s out there um it’s being used I’ll have to say I wasn’t a massive fan of mini dos
Until last I think it was Jan’s Vision Vision last week wasn’t it where she showed the little Star Wars figures in uh in as many dolls and they looked amazing they were so cute I was like I could probably collect those yeah was actually when we made the the friend of
Lauan yeah friend of laan that was actually one of the one of the kind of the things about the um the micro do so when we Disney made some books and then kind of like we started making other figures as well but uh uh that was one because it was all about
Collectibility it’s like we have these these figures and they’re kind of they’re spread across the entire assortment but what if we could um uh what if we could uh tell an entire story in one in one model in one book for for for $20 I think it was at the
Time um so that’s why you kind of oh we about to lose another you froze a little bit Ollie no worries yeah I I noticed kind of yeah you went quiet so but yeah yeah micro dolls were kind of all about that all about kind of like
Getting as many characters as you can in one model and uh and and that scale as well is also amazing it’s like a it’s very see kids yeah yeah um and that’s why we we also kind of did the bigger eyes as well uh and those kind of things those more
Expressive faces the alternative or multiple of the same character and different dresses and things um and also they have noses yes they yeah I’m not saying that minifigur should have noses in the in the rare instances we have done noses they are a bit creepy I I I have a creepy Scalia girl
Oh the SC I like the creepy Scola I do not like the creepy Scala I don’t like the creepy Scala or the Fab fabuland both creepy with fabuland what’s wrong with fabul what who who Who’s has someone got control here can someone K car hello hello look at them all learning the ABC
I don’t like things with big heads weird you thought you thought we lost the crown when we started talking about mini dolls look at you now jeez yeah I’m not a fan of that it’s just weird it’s so what I’m hear was a child I would

Him and I was and I was going to show it all off and he said actually mate uh do you mind doing us a little favor can you show it after Lego come out with it because he said I don’t want him I don’t want to support the plug on it or
Anything like that I said okay that’s cool that was his second reedition of it as well because the first one uh he had to change he had to change it and he had to resubmit it and get back through and that’s going to do well like

Those movies is is very different um in that we kind of have to make all the models first or make a lot of models that then kind of will go to the studio and then kind of get made into to be animated and things and then we kind of
Can can then kind of whilst whil they’re doing that we can then kind of develop them as as models or kind of like have that dialogue where we may have to change it for functional things or whatever it may be so um they have these amazing yeah we had the these amazing
Boosts where we would kind of like you know build uh the for for I think for Lego Batman it was like just build any DC Villains vehicle like what what what would it be if what how would you theme every DC character and what they’d be driving and and and oh Justin hello

So so yeah myself wza Justin um and Kenza the graphic designer uh we all worked on this together and um that was the the first thing we saw was just like that stay like that’s what what whatever we do that has got to stay um and we got
To make this work because it was such an amazing use that piece and it’s the kind of thing that kind of like that’s that’s what kind of uh Lego ideas is all about is like is is is if youve got a signature piece like that then let’s
Let’s do it let’s use it npu nice part usage exactly yeah like that yeah yeah so yeah we we we went with it and that was that was the first thing and and um yeah for those who have built it it’s kind of it’s really kind of
Strange kind of alien build where you have to build lots of stacking of plates and it all has to be correct and you clip it into the side and it’s kind of that nice kind of um satisfying moment where you kind of you have no idea what
You’re building for 20 steps and then you kind of pop it in you go ah yeah okay love it I get it that makes sense so cool um you’re Johny Thunder Vib s oh hero he’s my hero tell uh very cool very cool a Lego correct tree behind Justin as well if
You have a look at that tree a correct tree mean what’s a correct tree an aame cabin tree was yeah if anyone’s interested where I got this picture from like it’s it’s it’s the A-frame cabin uh instructions it’s from that uh I hav’t opened mine yet it’s still down there yeah not okay
All right it’s it’s good set it’s good a list of things to build so that’s taken about a mile or two outside of of band and um I think it was like one of the hottest days of the year and like there’s there’s it was like the day that
Kind of the flying ants will kind of take off and uh so it was yeah it was really kind of chaotic because we had this day kind of yeah kind of in the calendar for weeks and then we kind of like we had to trech out kind of miles
With all this stuff and it’s like it’s it’s heavy fiberglass and resin and things so like it’s it’s heavy and that’s like that’s a proper lens in that magnifying glass as well so uh yeah we kind of got there and then it was like we we probably need a half an hour just
To kind of like recuperate and not look like real flushed and and glazed so uh yeah that was that was I know there’s another one I just clicked that one from the from that one but yeah no very cool picture I love that I love the big props
As well by the way uh I’m just throwing that out there I think Lego if they sold big props I think they would sell really really well um um but yeah yeah it’s very cool I love it you focusing on the tree behind what’s sticking out of his
Head that’s the uh the wood cutters axe uh yeah it doesn’t look uh yeah it looks like he’s like some anime character or something [Laughter] buter or something that oh look they got that I didn’t even notice that these are props from like the re rebuild the world
Kind of big campaign that we have at Christmas great advert and yeah they’re fantastic and so yeah we had them kind of there and actually because Justin was is the like the toy doctor for those kind of big shoots um so he kind of knew that we had these pieces and what we

The 15th of last year though uh no no no I started on the first and the second and then I didn’t do any and then on the 15th I did about 10 remember there was a bit of a gap I was like I think she was doing a daily
Thing caught up and I did finish it whilst watching Home Alone on Christmas Eve so it was fine oh that’s nice I was working a lot then if you think if you I was working a lot I know but you buil you’re not working as much now mean you’re building

That 1990 I was born then Think many not many you got favorite one have you got a favorite one 9393 when the Dragon Knights were released that’s one of my favorites oh yeah B paradisa sets oh parad a lot of people do like paradisa I think um NES and stuff like that it was a thing a thing

And Reed this is um uh a character from Lego adventurers the 90 late 90s early 2000s theme um yeah as kind of mentioned before like Lego adventures was such a Monumental theme for me it kind of hit it totally that right age but it was also kind of
Um it was like Lego it was like Indiana Jones but in the Lego Universe and it was like so much fun um and so uh yeah we we had this opportunity it was a lot of kind of amazing things kind of like working in our favor where we decided we
Wanted to put Minifigures in the Orin Express because that’s that’s something that wasn’t in Thomas’s original submission um just helped tell the stories because the the Orin Express is such a icon of of literature of of just kind of uh modern Cinema really um and
So we we wanted to tell some some some narratives and some stories within it um and so we had uh we we we we knew we kind of wanted a kind of cast of characters but then we wanted to tie it together with a kind of uh Agatha Chris
Chrisy esque kind of writer or detective or whatever um yeah and um Lego adventurers is also set in kind of the 2030s period the kind of the height of of of European train travel which kind of we were we were going for here and so
It kind of makes sense to kind of put Pippen Reed who in Universe in the in the Lego adventures universe is a reporter um that is kind of documenting Johnny Thunder’s kind of Adventures across the world uh for for the Lego World Journal um so yeah it was a lot of
Things come together and then um I really wanted to use this hat because we had this the the CL hat that we we made for I forget her name but a character that’s in Fantastic Beasts um and we only used it once and it was like this
Is an amazing hat and it fits the time period well and um it’s got the hair and the hat so we can kind of we can we can uh because that was one of the things we with um pipp and Reed is we didn’t until recently we we haven’t done
Hat and hair combos it was always you either had a hat or you had hair um and for the characters that had hair but we had to give them hats uh we used to Deco the the hair on the um uh on the head and and this is also one where like just
Her bangs kind of just like feel very very much in line with uh kind of what was on the original um characters all all that all that time ago um yeah and another happy accident was kind of uh this was in development kind of the same time um actually started this
Before but then then the the museum kind of appeared as as kind of the next modular and uh so Chris kind of like completely separately uh but also kind of like uh a really happy thing as well that uh he also kind of put a nod to Dr
Kilroy in there as well so we kind of had a a Johnny Thunder esque minifigure in the in the cmf series a few years ago um and so this was a kind of a really great way of of getting these two other characters in there and we also we had
Um one of the things with uh piip and Reed is she was always kind of a peripheral character she was always kind of she was part of the Ensemble and um although she kind of had this backstory it was never kind of communicated she in in a lot of the sets
Kind of just acted as the Damsel in Distress which was kind of a very kind of like tired roleplay um cycle so we also thought like what has this woman done after even before kind of meeting Johnny Thunder kind of what Adventures has she been on kind of what’s given her
The kind of the credentials to be able to travel the world with a with a you know a um Adventurer slash uh tomb plunderer to to um to to tell his story or tell tell their Adventures uh and and yeah hopefully now we kind of we’ve
Maybe started a or seeded an idea of of if we do you know more time period stuff or or or or other things kind of like could she appear because because that that also one of the things is we we always dip into the same kind of classic
Space classic um Castle we either go super futuristic or kind of way back in time and this was in a really amazing time where we could actually kind of do 20th century history kind of do it some justice in a model like this um we only kind of occasionally do that with like
IPS that kind of set in that period things like I think Wonder Woman and Indie kind of when that came back um and so it was kind of a great opportunity to actually kind of use use a theme that kind of wouldn’t normally we couldn’t normally tap into um and yeah it was
Just yeah I I love pip and Reed yeah yeah pip and Reed it’s a great name as well it really is uh these are just a few shots from from that evening I gotta get going my husband’s coming home with dinner right now and I’ve been told it’s

To be the same time that Lego Movie 2 was in production and so I kind of got to work on some of the Duplo stuff in Lego Movie 2 and we kind of yeah we explore these different things and then actually kind of like one of them was
Just like doing these huge kind of Epic Builds of of um it the the kind of the brief was what if a a a preschooler just had an infinite amount of Dupo like what would they do with it and it was just stacking and stacking stacking so
There’s a bit bit more form to this but it was just kind of one of the ideas that we kind of had so I kind of it never got used and so I just thought i’ I’d bring it out and then kind of uh kind of uh use New pieces and the tones
And that kind of stuff so it’s uh uh yeah that’s that is very very heavy yeah I imagine yeah I’ve never built a d play I really want to do I to do it I’m look see what’s coming out in 2020 there the the I mean the bricks are so they’re
So chunky and they’ve got such such good clutch it’s um I know kind of a lot of people want to they normally use Duplo to kind of like pad out larger models larger kind of Landscapes and things but yeah as as a form as well it’s uh it’s
Great it’s it’s it’s a wonderful thing and it’s got a slightly different system as well so it’s uh there we go uh so two plates is one brick uh rather than three plates being one brick so even then kind of like you can’t um you can’t just take a Lego
Model and kind of make it in Dupo there is an extra level of kind of deciphering kind of what you can use and that sounds like a challenge Ollie it’s so much fun I’m challenge myself to make my first dinosaur out of Lego system then I will I that I think I

As Jake studs uh oh sorry we we’re going back to the very first thing we spoke about uh knobs of course uh olle uh does that the opposite of a brick I always thought was called the the the anti- stud um but what what is it if if that’s
If it’s if it’s a if a stud is called meant to be called a knob um and I’m not saying this in a druggy way is that does that mean the opposite of that is the anti knob which again sounds like a a Marvel super villain of some sort doesn’t it
Really so it’s technically it is uh knob and tube or knop and Tube because I it’s the the Danish is direct translation is is Knob but uh the the the the common term that we all use is stud so we we have the St stud and Tube system um and
So yeah the the the stud is is what we had in the way back when with the the automatic binding bricks and all that kind of stuff and then it’s actually the the tube side is the thing that kind of Lego kind of innovated on um and that’s
The kind of uh in a 2×4 brick that’s the that’s the three the three ho the three uh tubes in there um so yeah we we we call it St tube um there yeah but there there there are official terms and official terms and um internal terms as
Well it all gets uh when you you come through your indoctrination training when you when you start Lego and uh you get it all get it all it’s not it’s Lego not Legos uh uh oh yeah yeah yeah an anti- stud is a weird one because it

Him Ollie certainly likes trains uh Chris got to ask a really quick question what would you say is one of your favorite trains um and don’t feel OED to have to say you’re in Express uh made from Lego uh to be honest I haven’t done that many
Um I like the Disney train the Lego Disney train yeah that’s a good show I like that um OE I I olle I would think would say potentially or in Express but there was one that you was a big or are a big fan of I think it might be your
Favorite set States something or rather isn’t it uh yeah well it’s so it’s not it’s not my favorite train um my my my absolute kind of uh W I don’t know I was say absolute it’s not I’ve got two actually so it’s the emerald night uh
That was that was from like yeah 15 years ago 10 years ago that yeah that was amazing um that kind of um was one of those kind of sets that I I started uh yeah it was I think I think at the time it was out of my price price range
And now I mean it still is it’s uh yeah it’s it’s it’s a gorgeous looking thing and and it’s it’s it’s something that Lego hadn’t done like anything like that um that kind of like real kind of like got me in the heart for for a while so that was that
Was really cool and then also um I have to say the Metro liner um from the 90s the with the old night volt system it’s kind of it looks bit like like an amtr train but it was kind of that’s that’s the one like in in all the
Old uh catalogs that just kind of like looks incredible um yeah we kind of we internally refer to it as kind of like the the Blue Cave era because like all the cataloges from like the mid90s I think mid to late 90s so many of the
Photos are done in this kind of like strange Kind of Blue Cave with this kind of golden light shining from outside and it just looks amazing and it kind of like it looks so so tactile and um I’m sure that’s kind of part of the reason
In kind of a background way of why I became a model because like you could see how they were how these sets were made all these elaborate sets with poyene and and and draped Fabric and thing it just looks so so cool um yeah
But but it started off as a kind of in joke but I kind of I really like it as a um uh it was kind of a pitch to kind of adult it’s it’s doing kind of like what the the black box stuff was doing kind
Of0 50 years ago with uh the thatch of Perkins which is this train yeah oh check this out folks this is a very old set 39 something set 396 Perkins and so this is um part of a series that uh Lego did um called oh I think it’s either collector series or
Model model series or model team I I think it’s like the Proto model team which was another theme in the ’90s um and it was these amazing kind of like um for for the time kind of yeah treating Legos as an art form rather
Than kind of a a toy but still making it look like a toy um kind of using the the Lego system at its best so yeah this was a this is a really cool one I’ve actually got another one up there which is the um USS I think it’s constellation
I think um oh constellation that’s got to be a good one then there he is that’s another one y follow follow the figure it’s a big sh up in the colder one yeah it’s hard to miss um but yeah but then like the boxes were done like a really kind of like um
Uh elaborate way and and they were kind of photographed in kind of real uh they had like a really shallow depth of field but they were kind of filmed so there’ll be like a a Mercedes-Benz kind of car uh um actually I think it wasn’t Mercedes-Benz but it was like it was
Photographed on a driveway and it kind of had a kind of stately home in the background and it kind of looked really kind of grand and amazing and it just like so so different and it was kind of like a pocket of of Lego that we then
Kind of didn’t touch for like another 20 30 years and then started kind of com back in the last kind of couple of decades um yeah so it was kind of and also like it’s so core Lego like in its color scheme and and like it’s the it’s
The five or actually in this kind of core Lego colors yeah so yeah I started kind of working it in um in the photographs in the big Mickey Mouse set um when we did the the design of the photos uh Walt Disney is a massive well
Was a a massive train fan that’s kind of why there is a a Disneyland because he just wanted to make a large Train Set uh and then invite people around um yeah so I kind of I slipped it in there was kind of bit of a bit of a joke um
And then when Sesame Street came along uh I we had Elmo’s bedroom um and I kind of built a wooden railway into it and then I could have made a tiny little version of it that is it folks look there you go yeah and then I’m still trying to find any
Opportunity to kind of like throw it in there because I think it just epitomizes kind of um what what what Lego is and and kind of um yeah this this this just just screams Lego I think it’s it’s it’s really cool that you do that and like I said at the
Beginning olle uh the devil is in the detail with you it really is uh which is brilliant um thank you for that uh so yeah um obviously there’s there’s lots of stories and avenues we can go down I did find the end of the survey folks
