Good morning everybody today we’re going to do a little shopping trip at Spain’s biggest bike shop or I think it’s Spain’s biggest bike shop we took the train over to the next town of SRA and we’re going to go to bike in which is a online retailer but they also have a

Brick and mortar store Jona itself has lots of really cool bike shops you know some of which we’ve featured but they do tend to be focused more on uh tourists let’s say and they don’t have kind of the basic daily needs like a lock and

Tools and all that stuff in stock or if they do they tend to be a little bit on the pricier side so we’re going to check out bike in uh pick up some tools some parts that uh I’m going to buy for a future hack video are you ready to

Navigate bike in I hope so from what we’ve heard is that it functions a little bit differently from a traditional Bike Shop you go there there’s like a point of sale computer you make your order and then someone pulls it from the warehouse so downside is we can’t touch and feel the things

We’re actually buying and uh hopefully everything we want to get today is at the physical store we’d have things shipped but we don’t have a permanent address yet and shipping’s its own thing here in Spain so hopefully this will do so not a whole lot going on in s ra at

The moment pretty pretty quiet Town huh little peblo yeah little little you know suburb feeling yeah so a couple things uh we’re hoping to pick up today like I mentioned is some UL locks so we can actually start bik commuting and not walk commuting everywhere from what

We’ve heard uh bike theft has become more of an issue I think people have keyed in that there are lots of people uh you know vacationing in Jona with like $10,000 bikes and they make easy targets at the cafe stop invest in the good luck little interesting bit of uh pedestrian infrastructure

Here a bit of a walk to the uh bike in you can see it over there from the train station if you walk just as the crows crow flies from the actual train stop to the bike in it’s really short but there aren’t that many pedestrian uh Crossings

Across the railroad so a little bit of a roundabout route we’re taking very American don’t you think yeah yeah we would have biked over but then you have to get on the highway so it’s uh six of one a half dozen the other and we wouldn’t have had locks

Andway I don’t know if they they probably would let us bring the bikes in but you know it’s a it’s a chicken or egg scenario there’s a logistics and packing and there is the uh huge conglomeration that is trade in which houses bike in runner in ski in snoow in

All those all those did you know that uh yes but I I want to know why it’s got a two ends oh cuz you can sleep there can You thumbnail hopefully that’ll make a good thumbnail photo here it is is all its Glory I guess maybe we go in that okay again not quite sure how this works so we’ll find Out All right so we successfully ordered that took some doing yeah it did takes him doing yeah but then uh the order pops up there and I guess in theory we wait and they take it out so let’s see so one of the confusing things was trying to figure out what

They had in stock in the store um because that’s different from what they have in stock everywhere else and then paying the first time I paid I used a US card and got triggered the fraud alert so I had to use our Spanish card and now yeah now we Wait You did it okay okay that was way more stressful and confusing I thought it would be yeah um I mean I think it’s I mean it’s a generally simple process right you go on the computer you pick what you want you buy it there and they go get it

And bring it out but you know everything’s more complicated when it’s in another language and yeah there were small things that were just different like the keyboard was different like I was trying to find you know it asked for your email address when you’re checking out and I you know

Muscle memory tried to do at there was like a completely different different key what was it like Ulta Grande yeah Grande yeah and also like the the point of service computer was super slow and every time I hit the back button it would just like break the website so

Yeah yeah good stuff but yeah you have patience right kind of I would say go in uh with plenty of time yeah and just make yourself comfortable and yeah and or know exactly what you’re looking for so you don’t have to troll troll their website for hours I think the problem

Was you knew what you wanted and then it wasn’t it it wasn’t here so you had to find a plan B yeah I think of the like six or seven things I was hoping to pick up we only picked up two of them uh but they’re important we got

Bike locks finally so we can do some bike commuting but I was going to pick up some Shimano Q stuff to make a hack video on the rivendale none of that was in stock so that stuff we’re going to have to figure out how to order and have

Delivered or place the order and pick it up later I feel like that might actually be the better way to do it would be to place it see if you can’t place it online and then come pick it up here yeah my hope in coming out here was that

The the computer in uh the pickup Center would be tied directly to the stock in the store just so we could you know walk away with things right away and it was uh it was mostly there I tried to figure out what they had in

Stock at home in the store for a pickup but didn’t see that option um yeah so it’s just all a little confusing I don’t know I guess one of the things that I thought was kind of neat is since it is this like Warehouse setting um you know

Things uh like there was a somebody there that got a pair of shoes and then like you know sat down you know they collected them uh gave handed them over the counter he tried them on kind of like ran around the the waiting room to

See if they were G to work out and uh you know took off so it sounds like you know they had fitting rooms in case you bought clothes or something so seems like um you know what we heard is if if it’s turns out to not be what you want

You know it’s really easy to just return it right then and there and place a different order so another thing I thought was really interesting was when you would place order it sends a confirmation email which is like very slow to to get confirmed so we put in

The credit card information we’re just like standing there waiting for the order but then it also puts puts your order up on the screen with kind of a status bar yeah um which I thought was interesting it’s it’s kind of like going to the the the meat counter at the

Butcher and waiting for a number it’s something I’ve not seen in in the US before the closest thing I can think of is like a universal cycles in Portland uh where you can place order and pick up there and they get it from their warehouse but they don’t put up on the

Big screen with like a with a with a status bar yeah it’s not instant like that I thought it was kind of neat that there’s um like behind the the the counter there big window and you can kind of see into the warehouse and you can see like the conveyor belt so I

Don’t know if there’s like a person back there that picks it and puts it on the conveyor belt when that order comes in or if it’s like a machine or whatever but um yeah you could actually see like it it came through and then the guy was

Back there um making sure that it was the right I missed that I missed the conveyor belt uh so there you have it uh what it’s like to shop at Spain’s biggest bike shop a little bit confusing the first time didn’t quite have everything we needed but uh now we know

And now you guys know uh hopefully I can get a hold of those Shimano parts and and make that video I was planning on doing um if you guys like this content like share subscribe all that good stuff consider supporting the channel join us on patreon and as always keep the Supple

    1. I've gotten a bunch of stuff from bike inn sent here to the UK, they have amazing prices, takes a while to get here but it's very worth it!

    2. "Shipping is its own thing" – Preach! LOL. We've been living in Alicante since July. Let me just say, I hear you. We'll be in Girona in May for the Traka race. I'm planning on riding this race, not racing this race. If youi're there, would love to say hello and meet you guys! Been a fan of the channel for a while now! Cheers! Salud!

    3. Try decathlon, the one in Clara just o,upside of Perpignan has a good selection of parts/tools etc and really good prices. MondoVelo in Thuir , next to the huge Super U supermarket, has lots of Shimano/SRAM parts but haven't been to,the one in Perpignan yet as Thuir is just a 15km bike ride from our vacation home in France. BikeINN looks like a version of IKEA without the café.

    4. I moved to Portugal and BikeInn is the best option to buy bike stuff from what I’ve found here. Even in Lisbon, a capital city, no decent bike shops with product selection. Delivery has been great with BikeInn to Portugal. Haven’t had any big issues with 3 online orders. Only issue was charged for an item that never was delivered and had to email them to reimburse the charge for the item that they canceled. I assumed if they canceled they would have sent the money back without asking. Overall I am happy with BikeInn, but a lot has to do with I have zero good options in Lisbon, Portugal.

    5. You can usually order to parcel shops or parcel lockers when shipping with any of the courier services DPD, DHL, GLS, etc. that way there is no need for a permanent address. If there is no option to choose a parcel shop/locker during shop checkout it is almost always possible to redirect the parcel via the courier service after it's shipped. The needed info/links are provided in the couriers email received when the package ships.

There are quite a few good online shops in Europe with a wide selection of parts and fast, fairly inexpensive shipping.
Some I've personally had good experiences with are bike24, bike-discount, rosebikes, r2-bike, bike-components, simplebikestore

    6. If you have a U lock you should get a Lockrockit universal U lock mount. Its a Canadian company that makes steel universal U lock mounts l highly recommend it.

    7. They just ripped me off and I've had to take up the matter with my credit card company. Received a package that showed no signs of tampering, yet the contents was an empty product box (bicycle light set). Still had the twist ties attached; just no product. Part of the light set was mounted on the exterior of the packaging so it's hard to believe that the packaging could be understood as anything but missing its contents. Still, maybe somehow a mistake occurred. BikeInn directed me to use their website, not an e-mail, to report the incident. I tried their messaging system on several browsers and it didn't work on any of them. I told BikeInn so and asked them to deal with this matter via e-mail. They seemed willing to do this, except every time I e-mailed to provide info or follow up, it seemed that I would get connected with another rep at BikeInn and they would keep directing me to use the website messaging system. Eventually they stopped responding to me and I had to submit a claim to my credit card company. First time I've been ripped off like this after buying vinyl and bike parts through various sellers and platforms over many years. Will never deal with them again.

    8. Oh boy – how timely – worse customer service I have ever experienced. Order from the US from BikeInn at your peril. I ordered a pair of winter shoes and i think they might here for next years winter. Tracking codes for shipping are useless. It was my first – and last time buying from them. Look up the reviews before you buy… I think they ship everything to Holland – consolidate into cargo containers and then ship the cargo across the "pond" by sea. Only explanation for how something can be in transist for 4 weeks (and still counting). I wish they were honest about shipping times to the USA.

    9. Do I hear a negative subtone in this video for like the whole 10 minutes?

*INN is a online shop known in Europe mostly for it's low prices. Not so much for the super service. I am surprised that you can collect items at one of their warehouses at all. Hope you got all you needed. The experience in the shop is surly something wouldn't like, too. Either completely online experience or in a good fine shop.

    10. As a Canadian that can't afford to pay $120/tire or $300 for basic brakes, I have ordered a LOT of things from BikeInn over the years – especially tires. Even with shipping, etc, I get tires from there for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of Canadian LBSs.

    11. Are there a lot of 70s ten-speeds (2X5) out there? I still see so many in Boston. I know they made a lot during the 70s bike boom, but those things seem indestructible, and have down tube shifters, lol!

    12. When the Aliens arrive we think they will attack the historic districts and skyscrapers. They will target the anonymous wide span roof structures that ring cities where all the data and physical inventory is stored and transferred.

    13. TradeInn is as awesome as it gets in Europe 🙂 Do think quite a load of the online products are essentially drop-shipped so always a chance of the actual store not having stock…

    14. A price comparison website we use very regularly in Germany is idealo. They are present on major European countries. When you're not in a rush, it's worth creating a list of items and set price alerts for them.

    15. I'm from Austria and i order online from BikeInn. The second big one is bikecomponents in Germany. Somtimes BikeInn have better prices sometimes bikeomponents. The biggest advantage of BikeInn is that they have more then just bicycles stuff they include also other sports.

    16. Definitely not a store. Most positive thing I can say is that it is a trade counter.

Fully understand your problem with shipping address, although I suspect they are more interested in taking your money rather than a particular delivery address.

Interesting video. Thanks. Happy New Year when it arrives.

    17. Wow, this place actually exists? :O I thought it's just a store front for some aliexpress-like wholesale business, the website has those stock photo looking aerial shots of the building that i always used to see in chinese webshops, where they use the same stock photo and just change the logo and signs in PS

    18. I m in Canada the problem I have with bikeinn is the cost of shipping, I put items in the backet and shipping is $25 (not bad) but then I add a brake cable and it's $60 for shipping!!!

    19. You could try asking your local Correos shop and use their “Lista de correos” service, well under the radar even for some Spanish people but perhaps worth a try, this basically allows users to receive goods in any correos office, notice correos is an state own public company, they have to provide this service for free ! you’ll have to specify your name plus “lista de correos” and address of desired correos office as consignee
      Saludos !
