Alice! Guess what? We did it!  Well, the Rhine Cycle Route! 1500 km through 4 countries  It took us a full 5 weeks,  and was totally worth it!  We set off from Andermatt,  with a 10-kilometer climb to  the Oberalppass. The views up there were literally breathtaking.

We crossed Chur, reached  Lake Constance, and took the  opportunity to visit Reichenau. Lisa made it her mission to take   a dip at every stop we made. Haha no,   of course not at the Rhine Falls. The current there was just too strong!  We followed the French  section of the route through

Alsace. We reached Strasbourg  and had a wonderful time  visiting the Grande-île.  A Unesco site with a truly  European atmosphere! We crossed the Rhine and carried on northwards.  Matthias insisted we crossed  it again to visit Speyer.  We then made our way back to  the right bank just in front

Of Biebrich Castle. Right past Bingen,   we got into the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. Little did I know Germany was   hiding such a treasure!  We stopped by Falkenlust and Augustusburg before  reaching Cologne. Matthias  spent hours looking at the  ceiling of the cathedral,  wondering how its vaults could

Support so much weight. An engineer? Haha, maybe!  Katrina was busy for another  few days taking pictures of  the Rhine-Ruhr industrial  heritage. I’ll be sure to send you  a few – her shots are amazing! We made our way into the   Netherlands, visited Doorwerth Castle and crossed the waterways of Biesbosch to

Kinderdijk. Lisa asked how  much wind it would take for a  windmill to take off. Or is she the future engineer? Anyway.  We ended our trip with a  well-deserved rest at the beach.  A metro ride to Rotterdam, and happily back home! Frankly, it’s a EuroVelo trip   you absolutely must do! What about your holiday?
