Road cycling Slovenia: Climbing Vrsic Pass and Mangart Saddle one day loop from Kranjska Gora

Road cycling one day route getting to the highest road in Slovenia, up to the Mangart Saddle (2.072m). The bike loop first climbs the Vrsic Pass (1.611m) before reaching the slopes of the Mangart Mountain Road. You will pass also through the famous Slovenian Soca Valley and also climb Predil Pass (1.156 m) in Italy. It is probably the most beautiful cycling route in Slovenia and Julian Alps and one of the prettiest climbs in the world.

Cycling Mangart Saddle and Vrsic Pass has to be on every cyclist bucket list. It’s a 106km bike ride with ~ 3000m total elevation gain. Start your day in Kranjska Gora and ride it clockwise. The climb up to Vrsic Pass has 24 cobbled hairpins so it is better to climb them rather than descent.

The Mangart Mountain Road is the highest asphalted road in Slovenia. The climb up to Mangart Saddle is a dead end road so, for a while, you will descent the same way you climbed.
