Years agobi was coming london bound down the M1 in a Artic on a night run .At something like 3 am in the morning with very little traffic i saw a artic stopped in the middle lane with hazard lights on.I crawled past him on the inside lane and stopped further down on tbe hard shoulder.I ran back because the artic thst had stopped was one of my buddies on the same night run .i front of his truck was a broken down car with a family in it .I said to what the hell you doing ?.Ge said they have broke down in tne middle lane and i stopped behind them to protect them .I said well i am getting the hell out of here becausd if another truck smashes in tbe back of you it will be carnage.i ran back to my truck and got going quick .Whatever possesed him to do that i dont know. One of my buddies stopped pon the hard shoulder ( again on nights ),to help a broke down truck on the M6 .He was standing in front the guys truck when another truck ( half asleep driver ) slammed into the back of the broke down truck and pushed it over my buddy .He died underneath it .the kicker is the guy he stopped to help was uninjured as was the idiot driver who slammed in the back .My buddies truck was parked on the hard shoulder further pastvall this totally untouched.
Moral is dont stop on the hard shoulder unless ypu really have to .And dont stop to help any one .Just call the police .His poor wife went to work that day in a local hospital and did not know till hours later he was dead.😢😢😢
