In this episode I follow the Eurovelo 7 from Corbara to Lake Montepulciano in Tuscany and pass through the beautiful town of Orvieto. Episode also includes route notes and tips.

Well I’m all packed up up Monday oh not Monday was the 27th anyway of May day three of the solo Journey heading to orito First about 15K and then onto chuzi I think it’s called 55k and then another 10K or so to a lake that I’m going to try to Camp next to

And it looks like it’s near a train line so might be a bit noisy tonight let’s see how we go I just looked at the profile and I have 580 M climb I thought I had a big climb before I got to the lake the next Lake I

Was going to Camp next to and I sure as hell do feels good to be on the bike you always feel great in the morning you’re all fresh watered and taking on energy food had a sleep slept okay probably took me an hour to get to sleep

But once I was asleep I slept pretty Good I need to get water only got about half a liter or 400 mil and got to get some fruit got to drop my last night’s rubbish off in a bin and I’ll be right for the day camper wonder if that means have tent sites I doubt

It Agri Turismo wow I could have stayed there last night camper area camper look at that I just passed campsite option number four it’s pretty overgrown the river would have been hard to get to I was counting on you know you you always want to have a swim at the end of the

Day and um it would have been pretty nightmarish getting down into that water you have just been having a wash with a cloth and water bottle bit of soap from an Airbnb and wet wipes to do the face take all the sun cream off and the gunk you actually

Feel quite revived and it’s surprising it makes a big difference just wiping yourself Down All right got some water at the service station dropped off my rubbish just got to get some food and I think there’s a supermarket down the rodeo Oh my God just came up a brutal climb 177% for a few hundred M you see that really steep bit at the

Beginning that’s pretty nasty in the first hour on the road that’ll get you warmed up this is tough all Cobblestone about 20% well come up to 245 elevation and I’ve still got another 110 and this is just to get to all or veto this isn’t

Even the 520 M climb this is just the warmup half a c of pushing 20% cobbles well that was a SLO but it is a cracking view that was uh that was pretty awful those cobblestones that grade but uh this makes it [Applause] worthwhile Well I think this is the town of orito so now I have to change routes onto the next Euro route this is so nice I want to coffee so bad but I know it would just dehydrate me more so I’m not going to have one I wonder if it’s Market day

Every day it is Saturday so I think Saturday or Sunday it’s probably Market Days on the weekend this is pretty the Euro Val you just curse it sometimes and then it takes you out into these Little Gems these little towns that are just so nice orito is a picturesque town perched

At top volcanic Cliffs with an awesome panoramic view and Gothic Cathedral what makes it special is the intricate network of underground tunnels Wells and caves offering a unique and mysterious Subterranean adventure for visitors I’ve come back down in elevation again heading to Pano where I can get some more water before this big

Climb and this town’s only about another 5K Away I stocked up with water and and got another banana cuz I don’t think there’s any towns until after this climb got to go over and back down I’m going to be lugging this water up the hill just to be safe okay so there’s nothing up the

Top and if I remember correctly from looking at the satellite I think this is a gravel climb I just hit the gravel and it is the color of the gravel that I remember from Google it’s hard packed and pretty smooth so I’m glad about That wow what a beautiful area and a beautiful day I didn’t look at the weather but it’s been Blue Sky all morning grapes as far as the eye can see I’m pretty sure I get in into the border of the Tuscany re region this afternoon or at the end of the [Applause] Day It looks like we’re taking The Road Less Traveled now we’re going left here little bit bump but I had to look on the satellite and it looked pretty Good I’ve started the last climb for for the I to the ice point it’s not easy that last section was really steep Apple break probably have lunch at the top of the mountain but I need some sugar this is a beautiful area I don’t know if this is driveways or there must

Be roads like I just went right up between those two houses down there there’s cars out the front someone lives there well I’m at the awful part it kicks up here 1.3k to go 126 vertical met or something oh this is getting brutal I got to walk for a bit Steep and

Loose I can ride again for a bit probably not very long by the look of it that just kicks up straight after that shadow of those trees I made it up this deep bit cuz I could see this concrete in the background in the I could see this concrete coming up at the

Top that kept me going it’s a nice concrete it’s still about 15% oh it’s starting to get high now 29 M remaining 500 M distance wow it’s blowing here I’m basically at the top soon as I came out of the trees the wind was just howling picnic time I lugged all this stuff up this hill so I might as well

Use it I got my stove out again I’m having a coffee some sandwiches and I got a nice view out there look at that I’m glad I’m still elevated a bit and I’ve got this Breeze cuz it’s probably very hot with no Breeze down at a lower Elevation I pulled over at a bar I was going to get power aid but they didn’t have any Cokes for €250 for can got a bottle of cold water for a11 which isn’t too bad compared to Australia probably cost $3 in Australia or that time of day I’m starting to

Think about my next supply stuff what I want to have for dinner got to get bread cereal some noodles some meat and some water cuz I won’t get to water for a little while after camp tomorrow morning I don’t think oh need a little water break it’s

Such a trait having cold water one thing you miss when you camp cing is anything cold anything cold is amazing the other thing I missed when I was I did a week’s camping at home in the yard and I really missed a chair but I’ve been so exhausted just sitting down

It’s just been amazing sitting on my little my little mat sitting mat last night watching listening to jogan experience sitting on that was just a treat but yeah cold stuff wow you miss cold stuff so bad beautiful shade loving this just got to dodge the puddles

Jesus wow it’s so hard to see these potholes in Shadows I’m just so paranoid about snapping a bloody Hulk on one of my paniers this dirt is quite nice it’s pretty smooth most of the way been on this for UK now didn’t even know this

Was here thought D on road all the way Now brother the killer afternoon headwind is back again I’m uh got about 10K to the town that the Euro 7 route ends in and then I think I’ve got about 10K from there to my camp spot but at least it’s blue sky I wasn’t expecting to have all day blue sky yesterday and

Today so really thankful for that this Northerly is blown the cloud away thank god well that was a big win I went into Euros spin it’s the first time I’ve been into a Euro Spin and it’s uh yeah it’s got everything basically and there was a pole right out the front

To lock my bike to and I came back and all the panas were still there so that’s a win I’ve put the new route in which is Choy to a RTO and so far it’s just been all dirt bike path it’s been great I just filled up my water bottle

With my micro squeeze I was going to film it but it was so awkward it looks pretty good all right let’s get on the road I’ve washed my Knicks it doesn’t look too inviting for a swim there might be a better spot further down for a swim that wasn’t

Actually where I was planning on stopping I just that was the first thing I got to so this is the spot the water don’t look much better it’s a nicer spot though well I should have come here first cuz there’s a tap right there now I just got to follow this

Cycle path and I’ll get to a junction where the truck goes down to a cell phone tower or some sort of Tower and I’m hoping I can camp down there it’s pretty quiet out here I’m out this Cycle Way goes between farms and stuff it’s

Great well I knew that I looked on the satellite but feels even more remote when you’re here there’s these little Bridges can only just fit I have never seen so many seeds it’s like riding through snow it actually feels real soft too so this is a bit of a disaster the

Tower is like an observation thing for tourists this is like a little Nature Preserve area so this is a noo that’s a bummer I have to backtrack and see what I can find well I’m doubling back about half a k I think I think I can see something on

The satellite that somewhere I might be able to hide well I can either go right here where I might be seen from the track or I can go behind that house it’s not very nice but it’s definitely out of sight no one will see me in there it’s an old

Abandoned house well it’s a bit lumpy I’m not real keen on it but I think it’s I’m running out of time it might have to do I’m set up I’ve cooked my noodles with carrot onion and tomato and some beef stock and I’m going to put this

Pido in it I think it’s pido I don’t know but it tastes bloody good all Right okay root notes the route was good that day there was no backtracking the climbs were tough the 15 20% climbs but um it’s definitely one of the more Scenic um rides between Rome and bologna or lake gter it was um probably one of the best days this is the cell what I

Thought was a cell phone tower that end up being the observation tower and it would have been too soggy to Camp down here anyway with all the rain that I had when I was there and this is at Lake Monte pulsano this is the Euro 7 and the

Track that goes down to that Tower and I end up doubling back down here and camping next to this little house here and that was fine I was well hidden and no problems
