Gdańsk is a port city in northern Poland which we visit sometimes here on POPtravel. Gdańsk is part of the Tricity area, which includes Sopot and Gdynia. Gdansk has a well-preserved medieval Old Town which we will see on this walking tour.

On this walking tour we start at the Złota Brama west of the historic center. We see the Old Town which includes landmarks like St. Mary’s Church and the famous Neptune Fountain. Later we even see the Gdańsk Crane from Wyspa Spichrzów, which is an island in the Nowa Motława river.

The city has several museums on maritime history and amber trade and this walk in Autumn/fall shows a lively atmosphere of this popular Polish tourist destination. We end our tour near the Footbridge on Ołowianka island.

    2. This is actually only one part of the city, The tourist Stary Miasto. There are other nice areasto visit as well. There are no real bad parts, just poorer areas, than others.

    3. Luckily the Poles decided to reconstruct – mostly the historic façades – of the 90% destroyed city of Danzig after 1945. For the reconstruction they mostly used 16th and 17th century plans by mainly Flemish/Dutch architects to erase the German past of the city.
