Okay! So we have jumped five years ahead! As we commit ‘Tillard Maine’ to God’s care today! So we are in 1853 now! In my Fathers House… And ‘Orry’s’ Father has just died! So, I would have told you… I go to prepare a place for you…

And, I know that the Lord has prepared a… And there is ‘Ashton’ and ‘Brett’ all grown up! And there is… Actress ‘Teri Garber’ who played ‘Ashton’… And again, ‘Ashton’ was someone I had a crush on back when I watched this… when I was young, because she was a Fine Looking Woman!

A horrible, horrible Character in this, though! So now that ‘Orry’ is in charge of the Plantation, he will… be able to industrialise like he wanted! And hopefully, he will be able to improve the conditions of the… Slaves on the Plantation, which is also something he wanted!

And Thank You very much to the Commentor who pointed out to me that… ‘Orry’ in the TV Series is actually a composite of two Characters from the Book! So we can see that ‘Orry’ is still limping! So that injury that he… picked up in the American Mexican War is permanent!

I cannot believe he is gone! He loved you very much! I feel sympathy for the Mother here, because it is very difficult… when you have been married to someone for a long, long, time! Because the old saying ‘Two Become One’ is actually true! You get used to each other!

You depend on each other for different things! One tends to… take over certain tasks! The other, the other tasks And your lives become so intertwined, that when that is broken… it is devestating! Lord! I am going to miss him so! And of course it is hard on ‘Orry’ too because, you will…

Never replace a Parent! Even… No matter how good or how bad… they were, they are still going to be your Mother and Father! They treat me like I am a stranger! Hell, if it was not for my last name, they would not have me here at all! Who is this Dude?

Well, I am a stranger! I know that! But blood is blood! I mean you think they would honour that! Well, he has obviously hooked up with ‘SemiRamis’, that ‘Salem Jones’ used to be at! Even if his Parents were poor! And he is obviously some relative of the ‘Maines’ the way he is talking!

And ‘Orry’ the big Master! He is as distant as a King! I guess that is what he thinks, he is! He pays me no mind at all! What is he? An Illegitimate Child? Or an Orphan that they adopted or something? Maybe you do not like the way that, that feels?

You are the only one who understands ‘Semi Ramis’! The Actress who plays ‘Semi Ramis’ was she in Fame? You know the Movie, Fame, from the 80s? She looks… She is ringing a bell with me from that Film! A great Film by the way! I loved it!

And it is something that I will probably react too, in the next couple of Months! The only thing that I am worried about is potential copyright with all of the Music in it! But we will see how we get on! Mr. ‘Orry’ Sir! You are out doing, early enough this morning!

He is probably going to have ‘Justin Lamotte’ when he finds out that he has been banging ‘Madeline’! ‘Orry’ needs to relax on building the enemy camp…. here because that is too many! It looks like ‘Salem’ is going to go and get good and drunk! To commiserate himself after getting fired!

As I said, it could not have happened to a nicer Guy! I am delighted! I cannot find a way to get away from that Tribe! What is that you say, ‘Salem’? None of your business, Boy! Keep your ugly ‘Maine’ nose in your own Ale! So, he is a ‘Maine’…

And ‘Salem’ is obviously going to pick a fight with him because he is after getting fired by ‘Orry’! Is he ‘Orry’s’ younger Brother then? But I have talked with some of the Slaves about you Mr. ‘Jones’! I defend you! They said you were not fit to sleep with Pigs!

But, I said you were! Ha ha! Good Insult! And, based on what this Guy is after saying… he is like a Nephew or a Cousin or something because he said the… ‘Maine’… the ‘Mont Royal’ Branch of the ‘Maine’ Family! This Guy is much younger and…

Much fitter then you are! So, he is going to beat your Arse! It looks like this Guy is well able to handle himself! He is taking on 3 Guys, no problem! And of course, as soon as I say that, he ends up losing! But here is ‘Orry’ to the rescue!

Good Lord ‘Charles’! Brawling in a Tavern like a common Cotton Chopper! It is not ‘Charles’s’ fault ‘Orry’! What was he supposed to do? He was defending your honour! Take some pride in yourself, if not in us! In fairness to the Boy… Sir, it was ‘Jones’ that went for him first!

That is all well and good Sir! At least the Bar Tender is standing up for ‘Charles’! You are not my Father! You do not care about me! None of you do! And I do not care what you say! ‘Orry’ is sounding a lot like his own Dad here!

He reminds me of the way, the Dad, used to speak to ‘Orry’! And, here we have another new Guy! So who is this Guy? Well that has to be tight enough, ‘Ashton’! Ah, what would you know about it anyway! You are still a Baby!

No amount of Lace would make you look one bit better then a Pine Board! Now pull! I think what I really found attractive about ‘Teri Garber’… the way she played this Character back in the day, was the way she spoke!

Her accent and the way she used words! This kind of Inflection, up and down and soft! And the cheeky little grin and smile that she used to do! ‘Brett’ is a good looking Woman as well in fairness! Cousin ‘Charles’! He is just getting in! Been out all night again!

So he is a Cousin! Cousin ‘Charles’ ‘Ashton’ called him! Ah, I just let on like I do, you know… to make the poor Orphan Boy feel accepted! And he is an Orphan! Okay! Do you know what he had the nerve to say to me! What? He said…

Keep your distance, Cousin dear! I am wise to you! So ‘Ashton’ was trying to bed her Cousin? I told you that ‘Ashton’ was a wild Character! I just did not quite remember how wild she was! Were do you suppose, he has been all night? Off sparking ‘Sue Ray Smith’!

But she is engaged to her Cousin ‘Whitney’! Well, of course she is Dummy! Lots of marrying Cousins and getting it on with Cousins here! No wonder the South fell! That is not a good way to carry on! Not illegal! But, genetically not wise! And, morally questionable!

In short, Sir, I beg your kind permission to pay formal court to your Daughter! My Daughter? Your Sister, Miss. ‘Ashton’, Sir! So, this Guy is here to ask permission to date ‘Ashton’! You even had to ask permission to date that time?

I know that you usually asked the permission of the Father to marry the Daughter… But, to ask permission to date? Really? When are you and ‘James Hontoon’ announcing your engagement? Well, whatever makes you think we will? Well if not, then why is he down stairs? So, ‘Ashton’ is just…

Pulling this Guy ‘James’ along or stringing him along! To use him! Because, she likes the attention! I cannot stand his… his puffy old face! His squinty little eyes! She does not even like the Guy! Everybody says ‘James’ is going to be real important some day!

And a Girl can never have too many important Men courting her now, can she? So ‘Ashton’ wants, even though, she does not like this Guy ‘James’… wants to keep him on side because, rumour has it… he is going to climb the social ranks and she wants the option…

That if he does, she can get with him, for that Social Rank! She really does not care about Love! She is all about position and money! Perhaps even highly qualified to offer myself as a candidate for your… Sister’s fair hand! Offer yourself is a good choice of words!

So now he has gone beyond asking for permission to date! He has jumped straight ahead and said I want too… marry your Sister and can I have permission for that too! As you know Sir, I am South Carolina’s youngest Attorney at Law! I am a champion of State’s Rights and a follower of…

The Noble ‘John.C. Callhoun’! So this Guy James is looking to seek Political Office… hence why ‘Ashton’ wants to keep him sweet! So she can be the Governors Wife or something, some day! I may then consider my, suit… as not entirely unwelcome to ‘Mont Royal’? You may!

And God speed and guide you Mr. ‘Hontoon’ as you are going to need it! Ha ha! So ‘Orry’ has granted permission and wished him… God’s speed because he knows what ‘Ashton’ is like as a Character! And I would not blame him! Fair play ‘Orry’!

This time he has really done it! Your Cousin ‘Charles’ is in serious trouble! You must come! So what has ‘Charles’ done now? Has he knocked up ‘Semi Ramis’ or something? Who last evening came upon Mr. ‘Charles Maine’ of this Plantation in… dalliance with his Fiance, Miss… ‘Sue Marie Smith’!

Okay! So, ‘Charles’ has basically been banging the Fiance… of this Guy’s Friend! Where upon Mr. ‘Smith’… demanded satisfaction! ‘Charles’ has managed to get himself in a Duel because… his little head was thinking for his big head! Mr. ‘Maine’ is too young to be fighting Duels! Besides they are against the Law!

He is old enough to have given offence in a totally Adult way! So Duelling at this stage is Illegal! Which I know… was made illegal because so many People were getting killed Duelling! Not just in the U.S., but in Europe! But this Guy is saying, Honour Demands it! Southern Honour Demands it!

To hell with it then! I will stand his Second! We promise absolute discretion Sir! No witnesses other than Family! So ‘Orry’ has agreed that ‘Charles’ will fight this Duel… on ‘Charles’ behalf! No offence, but I would not want someone… agreeing that I am going to fight a Duel on my behalf!

Because I could end up getting killed Man! That is my decision! Did you put a stop to this insanity? Where is that Lunatic? No Mother dearest, I did not! In fact, I agreed to go ahead with it! One, Two, Three, Four, Five Six…

So ‘Charles’ obviously knew a Duel was coming, because he is practising! And he is a terrible shot, which does not bode well for the Duel! This is my affair and I am not afraid of the lilly white… Well you should be! He will undoubtedly kill you as unprepared as you are!

He has killed Men before! So the Guy, ‘Charles’ is going to Duel, is an expert… Duellist! And, has killed other Men in Duels! And ‘Charles’ cannot even hit a Target! He is a dead man! Now, I am going to teach you how to shoot and how to win!

In 72 hours! That is all that we have got! We will get you some proper Pistols… first! Come on! Get on your Horse! Three days is all they have… Is all ‘Orry’ has to train… ‘Charles’! It is not a lot of time! 8, 9, 10! No! ‘Charles’ is a terrible shot! ‘Charles’?

Fear will push you into haste and haste will push you into… the grave! Deliberate! Be Deliberate! And again, for anyone who has not ever fired a Weapon… the common misconception is that you breathe in and tense up!

And hold your breath when you fire! In fact, it is quite the opposite! You should exhale, relax… mark your Target and then fire! And basically, that is what ‘Orry’ is telling ‘Charles’ to do! And now he has hit the Target! They Day of the Duel has arrived!

I am going to back ‘Charles’ now that ‘Orry’ has given him some training… and has taught him the basic techniques! Even though this other Guy is an expert Dueller… I think that is how this story is going to go! When you think about it though, wasn’t Duelling such a stupid practice!

I get the whole Honour thing but you can do that with a Fist Fight, right? You do not need to bloody shoot each other! That is not honourable, that just shows who is the best shot! So here is ‘Orry’ and this other Dude acting as Seconds! Loading the Duelling Pistols!

If I remember rightly, there was a timing delay as well… between when you pulled the Trigger… and the time the Fuse burned down and ignited the Gun Powder to shoot the Ball! So, I presume that must have affected the outcome of Duels…

As well, like! If one had a slower burn… One Pistol had a slower burn then the other Pistol! Look at him! He is keeping his Coat on! Appearances mean more to the Fool than his life! And, since he is not worried… He might not take sufficient care!

So ‘Orry’ is saying to ‘Charles’, this Guys is a bit too arrogant… because he has won so many Duels, he is probably taking it as won already! Use that to your advantage! We will drop him! You are a ‘Maine’! And ‘Charles’ is delighted because ‘Orry’ called him a ‘Maine’!

He feels accepted and part of the Family at last! Well the other Guy is taller than ‘Charles’ which means he is a bigger Target… for ‘Charles’ to aim at! ‘Charles’ being smaller… makes him a harder Target for the other Guy ‘Smith’! 7, 8, 9, 10!

So ‘Smith’ hit ‘Charles’ in the Arm! And, now ‘Charles’ has got the other Guy… dead to rights and he has not even pulled the Trigger yet! You must…. You must stand ‘Whitney’! And ‘Whitney’ is crying like a Baby! He needs ‘Kevin Costner’ to come along and be his ‘Bodyguard’!

If anyone gets that reference? Fair play ‘Charles’! He just fired in the Air, because the other Guy… has disgraced himself by crying like a Child! You might want to get that… Arm checked though! Because that will get an infection, because, the cloth has gone into the Wound! You have shown…

Every attribute of a Carolina Gentleman today! I am proud of you ‘Charles’! See I told you! ‘Charles’ is now accepted… in ‘Orry’s’ eyes as part, a proper part of the ‘Maine’ Family and a proper Gentleman! I owe you mine! All the time… All the care you took with me!

Indeed you do ‘Charles’! Because if ‘Orry’ did not train you… you would be a dead man, I presume! Always before when I fight, everyone… disapproved! ‘Orry’, what made it so different? And that is a fair point ‘Charles’! As I said, Duelling is stupid! It does not show Honour to me!

‘Orry’, I want that! To be a Man of Honour! Like you! So ‘Charles’ is now asking ‘Orry’ to train him up in how… to be a proper Southern Gentleman! Because, yeah, like ‘Charles’, I do not get these rules either! You would never pass the entrance exams! Not now!

Oh! He wants to go to ‘Westpoint’ as well! But, if you are serious… We can have you tutored! I have never been more serious about anything in my life! Fair play ‘Orry’! ‘Orry’ said ‘Charles’ you do not have enough education… to get into ‘Westpoint’! But, I will hire a Tutor…

If you are serious! So, he is going to put his money behind ‘Charles’! ‘Charles’ is truly now part of ‘Orry’s’ Family! They are simply exquisite! And these are my pride of Pennsylvania! It took me… years to get them started! So the ‘Maine’ Family and the ‘Hazard’ Family, five years…

15, that sort of age! They just do not argue about Slavery and State’s Rights anymore! They are beginning to hate Southerners! Yeah! I hear talk in South Carolina too! But… well some of my Neighbours are none too fond of ‘Yankees’! And ‘Orry’ and ‘George’ are making good points here! It is always the…

Fanatics on either side… who end up causing a War! The vast majority of People just want to get on with life.. They have enough going on! Next Fall, he and ‘Billy’ go off to the ‘Point’! ‘Plebs’ together just like we were! So ‘Billy’ is ‘George’s’ younger Brother…

And both him and ‘Charles’ are going off to ‘Westpoint’ together… just like ‘George’ and ‘Orry’! And it looks like ‘Charles’ and ‘Billy’ are the best of Friends… as well! Like ‘George’ and ‘Orry’ were! I think he is so handsome! ‘Billy’? He will do! So ‘Brett’ has the hots for ‘Billy’! So…

I do remember the two Families become intertwined and I do remember… I think that ‘Brett’ and ‘Billy’ do get married… Again, it is foggy, but I think that is what happens! ‘Billy’! You come here, this minute! I…. need you! Coming! Ah! So ‘Ashton’ heard that ‘Brett’ fancies ‘Billy’, so now ‘Ashton’ being…

Not a nice Person, even towards her own Sister… is going to Target ‘Billy’ with her own wicked wiles! Never mind pretty Girl! He will have enough of her game, sooner then you think! Come on, let us talk a walk! You and I!

And fair play to ‘Charles’ he is telling ‘Brett’, look do not worry… ‘Billy’ will wise up to the sort of Person that ‘Ashton’ is quite soon…. and he will see how sweet you are and come for you! Oh dear me! I feel so lost when the talk turns to…

Such things! Well then, you should inform yourself Mrs. ‘Maine’! So ‘Virgillia’ is trying to emancipate ‘Orry’s’ Mother! If you do not like Southerners ‘Virgillia’ then why in the World… did you invite us up here! ‘Ashton’ sit down and be a Lady! So ‘Asthon’ is representing the fanatical South while…

‘Virgillia is representing the fanatical North here! Since you are here, you might take the time to listen and to learn the truth! Yeah! ‘Ashton’ does not strike me as someone who would have a lot of compassion for Slaves! Slave Owners are nothing more then Whore Masters!

And that is going to be quite an insult to ‘Orry’! Particularly… when his Mother and Sisters are there! You will apologise to our Friends! Your Friends ‘George’! I find their way of Life repellent and wrong! ‘Virgillia’ is not going to apologise so she is going to have to leave!

Otherwise ‘Orry’ and Family are leaving! ‘Orry’? Thank you ‘George’! So now we see as the years have progressed that ‘Orry’ and ‘George’ are now… the Heads of their respective Families! Remember the first time, I was here? And we visited ‘Hazard Iron’ and we talked about a Cotton Mill? Yes!

So ‘Orry’ is going to start… mechanising the Plantation! And, he is going to look for ‘George’s’ help to do it! Well right now, every ounce of Cotton… has to be shipped North or to England! Imagine… having a Mill right here in South Carolina!

So he is not mechanising the Plantation! He is going to build a Mill! Because he is saying… at the moment we pick the Crops in the South and we send them off… to France or England to be milled! We can do it ourselves and build an Industry as Partners!

Well, I can do better then that now! I have got some money tucked away… and it sounds like an excellent investment! I have got one condition though? What is that condition? Free the Slaves? No Slave labour! Okay! No Slave labour! Fair enough, ‘George’! Imagine ‘George’ being stupid enough to invest in the South!

I do not understand? Exactly! So what is ‘Stanley’s’ Wife planning here? I do not… understand either at the moment! ‘George’ is investing in a Region that is beginning to think of itself as a rival Country! Why, he is going to lose everything in this silly little venture! So ‘Stanley’s’ Wife is saying…

And I presume ‘Ashton’ is upset because she wanted to be able to back and tell… ‘Brett’ that she had ‘Billy’ and now she cannot! ‘Orry’ and I want to have you all come down to Carolina… just as soon as you find the time! We insist upon it!

So obviously the ‘Hazards’ as a Family, have not been… down to the Plantation yet! But I presume that ‘Virgillia’ is going to jump at this chance… because she will get to see Slavery first hand and be able too… I suppose reinforce her Abolitionist beliefs!

And take that information and use it in her speeches etc.! And now we are back again, even 5 years later… ‘Madeline’ and ‘Orry’ are still hooking up for their sessions at the Church! Why the ominous Music? And there is a Carraige instead of a Horse? Who is here?

Who knows about them? Is someone about to blackmail ‘Madeline’? Oh No! It is someone else using the Church as a little, ah… secret love nest! It is ‘Justin’ with one of his Slave Girls! And he is caught! You spying slut! How dare you…. Follow me here!

So, is ‘Justin’ going to Horse Whip ‘Madeline’ now? It looks like it! Ah, he is a vicious Man! A vicious Man! For all I care! I presume if ‘Orry’ finds this out, he is going to kill ‘Justin’! And he must be due to turn up since ‘Madeline’ was at the Church!

Yeah, I was right! Here comes ‘Orry’! I will kill him! Dear God help me, I will kill him now! Do not say that! Dead right ‘Orry’! He deserves that, in fairness! I cannot let you go back to him ‘Madeline’!

Please! Let me send you away! I will join you as soon as I can! Exactly! She cannont go back! It is going to be more dangerous ‘Madeline’ if you stay! He will end up killing you one day, Girl! He will kill us both! He is going to kill you anyway, if you stay!

I would back ‘Orry’ in a Duel against ‘Justin’! He still knows nothing about us! And, he must never know! ‘Madeline’ definitely has Battered Wife Syndrome here! Where she is staying with her Abuser, just for the sake of it! But what I cannot understand is why ‘Orry’ is allowing this to happen!

Surely, his Southern Honour would demand that he challenge… ‘Justin’ to a Duel! And, as I said, I would back ‘Orry’… in that situation! I think he would take ‘Justin’! I want ‘Belvedere’ to be a link on the Underground Railway! If freed Negros can help ‘George’ so can we!

So ‘Constance’ has gotten involved with ‘Virgillia’s’ movement somehow! And she wants their Summer House to be part of… Underground Railway, which was used to transport Runaway Slaves to the North! The abuse was constant ‘George’! There was no provocation! And it became more then he could bear! So ‘Abner’ ran away!

So ‘Constance’ was already actually doing it! She was just letting ‘George’… asking ‘George’s’ permission and then when he said yes, saying… by the way, I am already doing it! Here you go! No one can know but Mother! ‘Virgillia’ cannot be trusted and ‘Billy’… Is too young! I know! So ‘Virgillia’ does not know!

But ‘Stanley’s’ Sister is spying from above! And this is going to be a Weapon she is going to use against them! ‘Orry’s’… ideas are part of his heritage! It will take Generations to change them! Welcome back Folks! And that was the end of Episode 3! I hope you enjoyed the reaction!

That Episode was a little bit slower then the previous two! But a lot did happen at the same time! So, we seen both… ‘George’ and ‘Orry’s’ Fathers pass away! And both ‘George’ and ‘Orry’ becoming Heads of their respective Families! We seen the introduction of ‘Billy’ as an Adult, ‘George’s’ Brother!

‘Charles’ who is ‘Orry’s’ Cousin! ‘Brett’ and ‘Ashton’ who are now grown up! We seen that ‘Ashton’ is… Flirtatious and Wicked! She is trying to take ‘Billy’ because ‘Brett’ said she liked… ‘Billy’! And she is like, trying to, you know, ruin her own Sisters… love interest! She is also playing with ‘James Hontonn…

Because she believes he is going to be a future… influential Person, so all she cares about is influence! She does not… really like him but she is still going to keep him dangling on! Because, she wants to use him if necessary! What else did we see? We seen ‘Virgillia’ become more and more…

Important and outspoken as this Episode… developed! And, now we see that the ‘Hazard’ Family are going down to… visit the ‘Maine’ Family and ‘Virgillia’ is going with them… to see firsthand! We have seen ‘Constance’ get involved with… Underground Railroad! And, we seen ‘Stanley’… ‘George’s’ Brother get ousted as Head of ‘Hazard Iron’!

But ‘Stanley’s’ Wife is quite manipulative and… uses ‘Stanley’ and controls that relationship! And she has… seen that ‘Constance’ and ‘George’… are involved in the Underground Railway! So, she is going to use that… to gain revenge and oust ‘George’… It looks like! As Head of ‘Hazard Iron’ and put back…

In ‘Stanley’! And we seen that ‘Stanley’ and the Wife really do not care… their Workers and that they cut corners just to have more money! We also seen that ‘Orry’ and ‘Madeline’ are considering… continuing for over 5 years to meet up at the Church regularly!

And we seen ‘Madeline’ getting beat by ‘Justin’ but she… still refuses to leave him! Which I find very odd! As I said… I think it is Battered Wife Syndrome! But yeah, this was more, I think… this Episode was more about establishing… and furthering the political tension…

Through the eyes of these Two Families, that is rising… in the North and in the South! We see… the Secessionists rising in the South and we heard… ‘James Hontoon’… talking about that! And ‘Virgillia’ obviously representing the Abolitionists! But anyway, enough of me talking! That is all, I really have to say…
