Checking out downtown Bristol England UK. This is my first time in the UK.
Check out the downtown area so I was able to take the bus to downtown and wow this is what the downtown area looks like hi everybody this is Mike and you’re watching Mike town and today we’re in beautiful downtown Bristol in the western part of England downtown areas also Helly there
There’s a building there yeah I’m going to blur out their faces since it doesn’t seem like they want to be in the video but I’m going to leave this part in the video because it’s part of my experience of being here I don’t know if people want to be on camera that’s
Uh a little more camera sh I guess it’s not la commercial so commercial rooms is not where they shoot commercials or advertising videos this is England so it is a pub wonder what this is yeah that’s a hotel Harbor Hotels ahead on the right is the corn Exchange
Building it was a corn and Commercial exchange back in the day but now it’s an office building and there’s a farmers market inside War exchange and they have those really cool bronze tables outside right there so people can write on them and conduct their business course we got two barber shops
Here they got the British Barber Shop company and manscape barber shf across the street from each other England is full of pubs and barber shops that’s the street where we came from down there we saw the downtown area and uh wow look at that we’re almost here at
The river I think that’s it look at this beautiful Street Bristol UK ladies and gentlemen known for being the home of Banksy the street artist and I don’t know if this has anything to do with it but Banky is from Bristol UK and uh wow and now I feel like I am
In Amsterdam or something crossing over the Avon River to the other side little boat look at that that’s a nice River I’ll take it uh over LA River Italian rough wow that over there yeah that looks like a different part of the city a lot newer buildings and things like
That webs I’ve noticed quite a bit of scheps here I don’t really come across that brand in United States much so I don’t know if it’s a UK brand or keg store so this kind of looks like the business center downtown area where we were that kind of look like the old
Town definitely a lot of young people in the city it’s got a college town Vibe because of the University I guess but also I have a feeling just a lot of younger people here maybe for other reasons London didn’t Phil is Young all right we’re back on the bridge going the other
Direction I’m liking Bristol it’s a it’s a beautiful city very uh livable and it feels like uh a real City it’s not a big city but it’s it has a lot of pedestrian traffic just a lot of people uh a lot of young people a lot of cool
Energy and a lot of beautiful buildings the people seem nice and friendly and um they kind of unlike London they they seemed a little colder on London like they didn’t want to be bothered much and British people in general they kind of keep to themselves but if you ask
Them they’re polite and responsive and definitely more so in Bristol where it seems like it’s a slower pace of life here so it’s uh different atmosphere than London more uh late back and uh people are not as uh in as much of a hurry things like that
So it feels more relaxed not as relaxed as bath was because it’s more of a vacation spot but it definitely feels uh calmer look at that it’s a fish bar Barn restaurant right on the river this is also definitely a bike City a lot of people are on bicycles
There’s a bicycle lane here or Road see The Pedestrian walkways here then the bike lane and then there’s a barrier from Cars even though people are riding bikes on uh Main Street as well where the cars are and London didn’t really have have that many people on
Bicycle so this is definitely a bike friendly City there’s also no tuber underground here so maybe that’s why and I’ve got a quite a few steps today already so I might have to call it a day soon

You seem to have really enjoyed my home city, without even leaving the Centre! I hope you made it to the harbourside area before you left as a must see. Bristol and Bath are very interchangeable as you say Bath is more touristy and shall we say exclusive. Bristol is a young and bohemian city with a rebellious spirit at heart(Blackbeard and many other infamous pirates came from Bristol). Glad you enjoyed your stay.
You missed the main shopping area – Broadmead "downtown" – though it's nothing special any more! I live in Bristol, it's a great place. The main negative is cyclists!
Hey Mike
I’m pleased you enjoyed your travels in the uk. I am from London and I know bristol from my university days.
I just wanted to clear something up for you because you’ve obviously misunderstood something here – perhaps a cultural misunderstanding or maybe you miss heard them.
At the beginning of this video the two lads were chatting to you in a friendly jovial way – they were not camera shy and they were not annoyed with you for filming them – they were waving at you and waving at the camera in the same way peole wave at tv cameras to say “hello mum look at me I’m on tv”
they were just being overly friendly – perhaps a bit drunk – but they were waving at the Camera ina friendly way – they were not telling you not to film them
They were just young lads having fun being a bit cheeky – but in a nice way – like the Beatles were the very first time they landed in America and gave humorous press interviews.
All good fun so please don’t misinterpret that because you got it wrong.
However – I must add I am VERY impressed that because you thought they genuinely didn’t want to be on camera you went to the trouble of blurring out their faces when you could have easily have just not bothered because you knew you’d never meet them again Etc
And for that I say to you BRAVO Mike 👏👏
You have very British manners and I’m most impressed 👌
The next time that you go to London you need to remove those dark glasses. I am joking of course, but there are thousands of bikes in London, notorious for cutting traffic and jumping lights. The Mayor has spent millions digging up the streets to provide cycle lanes that most choose to ignore and use the road instead. Good to see you back again.
My other half knew Banksy for a bit…
Newer buildings are post-war because a lot of the city was reconstructed after being bombed from air raids. Otherwise more of the traditional Georgian architecture would be there.
A lot of the old buildings were sadly destroyed in WW2. The park you could see whilst crossing the bridge (Castle Park) was all old streets until they were destroyed and it was later turned into a green space.
Lived in Bristol all my life, you're the first to refer to Corn Street as downtown Bristol. I hope you visited other places because Corn Street, Wine Street and Baldwin street are the most dullest parts.
The bronze tables are called Nails. This is the original stock market if you like. It's where the term "Money on the Nail" comes from.
On the subject of art, Bristol is also known for being the birthplace of Trip Hop
