Travel Vlog BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA | Part 1

Hey everybody, this is my first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina and so I thought I’d give you a little blog about the first Campsite I found and travelling a little bit in the country.

The people I’ve met in shops, hotels, café, and the campsite especially have been wonderfully open and friendly and kind.

If this place, and especially this Campsite is not on your radar of places to visit, it really should be.

People to another day on the travels what planet are you on you’re on planet Richard you like my new name for the channel uh I’m in Bosnia and Herzegovina I had a night in a hotel last night just crossed the border um it’s a strange country

Um the bit I’ve seen so far is very beautiful there’s not a lot of money um bosia to paraphrase a Top Gear special was not a country it’s a war isn’t it you think about the Ian War um and I think they’re trying really hard to to rebuild or will Define their country

There are three sort of factions within the country but everyone I’ve met here so far has been so friendly so welcoming um it super cheap the hotel had all sort of Europe Western European standards for everything you’d want um so I’m going to drive basically through

The middle of Bosnia Hera to a campsite um and show you some of the scenery along the way but it’s um you know I’m really interested to see what’s uh what’s this country is About and there is a specialized bike shop let’s go in have a look see what’s here har har look at my new friend here this shop’s been open three months we’re in we’re in beautiful Bosnia herzen look at it look at this amazing shop is specialized the main

Brand in specializ and Cube and Cube the main German yeah yeah F fantastic bike so and you’ve got full face mountain bike helmets so there’s lots of mountain biking in Bosnia yes mountain bike usually usually people people buy usually MTB bikes MTB fantastic and what

Is this what is is this sort of the top of the range what does this sell for how how much is how much is that in Euros uh this is ebike yeah it’s uh around 5,000 okay so that’s much cheaper in the UK it would be the Euros would be more

It would be more expensive fantastic what nice people what a great shop look at this guys look at this look I found this the best bike shop the best bike shop in Bosnia and just cuz I’m showing off the bike i’ man I’ve managed to convince

This F so this is Susie the fat bike with my new friends in Bosnia it’s so funny to [Laughter] Ride it’s mad isn’t it fantastic um meeting Alan and Alan um from the bike shop um it’s just what lovely chaps did me a deal but and you can set on for me um you know just couldn’t have been nicer there they’ve got five shops um they’re a specialized dealer you know

Really really just top top guys the the international language of mountain bikers and bike shops uh is a thing it’s absolutely fantastic so another Plus in the um in the column for uh for Bosnia and herzen um just again incredibly nice friendly welcoming people hey everybody so another Vlog update uh

And this is this is Bosnia um this is my my second stop in Bosnia uh the beautiful camp site I’ll put the the link below um and I think it’s the ramama lake which is just I’m going to show you around um one of I want to say

Betty we’re super comfortable here it’s a beautiful campsite um they’re trying to build up tourism um Peter who doesn’t speak any English came and welcomed me he had a bottle of some um spirits to to pour me a drink he’s invited me for coffee at his mom’s house up the road um

And I put on a little post last night and this is this is about the the kindness of these people um I put a post last night saying hey I’m here uh and a member of the family uh who owned the campsite um uh sent me a note and a

Voicemail saying the family don’t speak any English so if I need help with anything I can call her I’m I’m just how kind is that how nice is that um they’re building up tourism in the area that’s the new campsite um I’m going to say put

The link below these people are kind and generous and you know this would be let me show you around this would just be the most beautiful spot if you’re coming you’re traveling in this region so this is Betty we all know and love Betty that is the sound of the um the

Heater because it was a little bit chilly last night so I came out of Betty and this is this is my view this is Rama Lake beautiful mountains over there covered by the The Early Morning Mist the town and the church over there look more Mountains up

There and Peter and his family live just over there there’s a shower block um toilet Etc there and fishing in this Lake and I think it’s a reservoir cuz what’s amazing is there are some steps and Peter said the water comes up to here so presumably that’s in the

Summer look how this is and it’s important to show this stuff so this is an investment they’re rebuilding they’re packing up this whole campsite area and investing in their campsite they’ve bought the rubble in they’re leveling it um packing it down um you know I’m going

To try and do some paddle boarding maybe out there or certainly do a bit of fishing um but one of the things I wanted to get across in this in this Vlog was you know the people here are rebuilding from a country that was at War and they’re working really hard and I

Tell you what they’ve got the natural the natural beauty to work with and fundamentally they’ve got the the kindness um and I think that’s wonderful so uh Bosnia maybe not somewhere you would have on your travel destination but it’s somewhere you absolutely should add right let’s see if I can fail to

Catch any fish in Bosnia like I failed to catch any fish in Germany Slovenia Austria it’s getting embarassing now thanks for watching kind of personal service you get at this campsite you get a nice man comes to pick you up to take you to go and have some coffee let’s go good

Amazing it’s beautiful it’s beautiful pouring you had so much deliver to build the camp this is fascinating they put in so much work to build the camp to clear the area and then level it and then spend a huge amount of money getting all the gravel and packed in and um ongoing

Project but amazing zag Zagreb look at that pit fantastic if you find any D Zagreb vandalism around here I can guarantee Peter did it Beautiful this is as it might be cold Peter’s just chopped some wood for me to have a fire oh ah I have I have Fantastic look at this guy this guy this guy this guy this is like the perfect host apart from this beautiful landscape we now have logs for the fire
