I think at the end of it, Tadej is the more prolific and accomplished racer, even if Jonas ends up with more TdF wins. Last season, even missing riding due to the broken wrist, Tadej had 7696 points to Jonas's 6304. I'm biased, though, as I prefer the classics over the tours being that its closer to my favorite discipline (gravel). But also, I don't buy the argument that the TdF winner is the strongest rider. I think the single day races do a better job showing that. TdF is the race in which the teams are the most dialed. And strong teams create rider consistency, which wins GC. We'll see how dominant Jonas is this year. He's a beast, but TJV with the Jonas, Rog, Kuss triple threat was just so much more oppressive than UAE could match. That won't be the same now.
If you want to ride around or under freezing, get a Sportful Total Comfort jacket
He did what he said he would.
Don't test it like Can Nichols tested his Giant frame 😨
Hey Chris, groupset was bought for a new bike build. I've got a new frame on order so while I wait for it to arrive, I'm collecting up the components as and when they come on sale. I'll then give everything to a mechanic to build up. Doing it like this can save a fortune.
What isn't clear to me (yet) is what exactly is banned. Is it any degree of tilt away from straight ahead? Or is it only "excessive" tilt? Like many others have said, slightly tilted in shifters tend to be more ergonomic and comfortable. The contraption that was posted that supposedly tests for this looks like it might allow some slight tilt inward.
So sad in a way to be talking about the latest greatest bleeding edge carbon whiz bang bike & hoping it is under 8kg 🤣 7.7 no pedals hahah….We have been totally reprogrammed 👽 On Tadej I don't agree about any giving up…giving up is those one trick ponies that need to win only the TDF every year. Tadej is more like a real rider of old that throws it all out there. Classics, CX Grand Tours, world champs, Olympics…Good on him his palmares look better for it IMHO 😉
I really like Sportful. I have different jerseys (aero, lightweight, cargo), bibs, and a skinsuit and cannot give them enough praise. I"d put them in the same category as Castelli. A European brand with focus on the average consumer and with strong ties to shops.
If in doubt ban it. Ban it all
Have Sportful arm and leg warmers, which are fantastic. Only arm warmers I’ve found that work for my long skinny arms. But wouldn’t buy any of the rest of their kit.
As others have said for some Riders a bit of inward tilt can be more comfortable without effecting braking access. Also it provides a way of narrowing bars which in todays world of integrated bar/stems with oftem limited size options can be helpful. The Rapha Sky thing possibly wasn't helped by Rapha lack of high tech gear at the time & Skys high tech demands – this meant they ran rebadged Bioracer Speedwear Skinsuits(one of the 1st to use aerostripe fabrics) then used other bits of Kit like the Castelli Gabba in Classics.
How long till Chris realizes that with 50-33 as lowest gear you can't go above a 5% gradient?
Shouldn’t have sold my 3T Strada!! 1x was a pig on that bike.
To be honest I think Tadej doesn't care about the tour anymore. He already won it twice
Is the rumor true, it’s an Ali S5!??😮
As some have said, the turned in shifters is very nice for ergonomics, a slight shift inwards has stopped my hands from going numb on long rides
Sportsful & Castelli have been sister brands for a while – look at their HQ addresses and they are next door to each other. They seem to have a lower pull tjan Castelli in the UK, but many items are very similar. It use too be a bit like the VW car group – if you wanted a cheaper Golf you vould buy a Seat Leon or Skoda Octavia. I use to like the Castelli warmers with a slight water proofing & fiund I could get pretty much the same leg or arm warmers by Sportful for a bit less. They also had a Gabba equivalent which look pretty much the same.
crazy to say he's giving up when the dude has won twice!! O.o
Bruh, my 2019 Aeroad sl8 mit ultegra ist 8kg with pedals and bottle cages. Never in hell is a top spec sram red s5 that heavy
Jessie should aspire to this level of gravel riding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX4V0F4e6Ss&ab_channel=GabrielWibmer
You boys are so out of touch with euro bike scene. Lots of these things might not nake it over to Australia. But sportful, ale etc are readily available in europe. And actually if very high quality. Your weather is so good you can get away with fashion kit
Show just gets better and better every week
Did you guys ever review that Koko you mentioned you were on a few episodes back? Would be interested to hear about that.
I put this comment in some other video also. UCI should just ban racing because it is dangerous to riders.
Regarding Super Tuck: It's not only the safety of the ride doing the super tuck, but also those around that rider.
About the kits, this is as much as I know:
– Sportful is basically Castelli (both are brands of Manifattura Valcismon S.p.A). I'm not 100% sure how they differentiate each other.
– I seemed to remember that Pissei was bought by a certain UAE fund.. basically pulling the same move they had with Colnago: Let's buy the whole thing. Now i can't find the news anymore
– Ale cycling is an italian brand which is very popular both in Italy and in other european markets (anecdotally, In greece everybody seem to wear Ale)
I think the main problem is that a lot of the clothing brand are european so very geographically far from where you are. Personally, I've never even heard of the kit sponsor for Jayco Alula from here in 🇮🇹
If Chris disappear. it means the UCi and the bike companies abducted him for exposing them😆😆😆
It cracks me that Chris actually said that Nero bike its a Canyon.
You guys are so funny,, Sportful and Castelli are just about the same company the parent company that owns Sportful bought The Scorpion brand about 20 yrs ago when Castelli were going bust , I think the RnD departments are in the same building in some town in the foot hills of the Italian Alps , it's all horses for course's, the bunches I ride with just about no one's rides maap kit some times you see Ralpha ,
Ale you see lots of women wearing that kit and depending on what part of the world U are in I think you can buy direct from the factory shop ???!!!
Ugly though isn’t it
I'm glad the UCI is getting more proactive on changes. If not we'd have stupid looking knee high "aero socks" and 30mm wide bars with bent in hoods. Like they don't crash enough, lets make handling worse! lol
The problem either the turned in levers is the spec of the clamp. The position of the Shimano, Campagnolo or SRAM clamp, is speced for standard positions in standard bars. Now you’re looking at mixing and matching with a variety of bars, aluminum or carbon.
Maybe the UCI can make specs for bars to allow for the use of turned in levers.
Conversely the manufacturers could respec lever clamps for retrofitting to turned in setups.
The chat about kit and the likes of Alé and sportful have been around for some time and offer better quality than some of these over priced fashion label kits in the market now. Prices on some kits now are just taking the piss of people that are silly enough to pay it.
The dehydrated yellow colour way nice.
Shrimp on the barbie…
Is TP possibly just doing the Giro because he has won the Tour twice already and he wants to win every major race there is!? Each grand tour and all the classics!?
jonas is like djokovic
pogacar is federer.
Alé clothing is big in EU and probably in US. It is well made as good as Castelli and Santini. GOBIK is big in Spain and must want to go global.
I turn my shifters in as I find it slightly more comfortable on long rides, also as to the Sportful kit they do the Total Energies kit which I did buy as I love the colour and design. It was also very reasonably priced too.
Is it OK to mismatch kits?
Entertaining but wakey Aussie rant . .. bars are designed with set fixing positions and structual design guys .. . Tuck was band as dangerous for Pros and to encourage jo public following the trend …. Never heard of Sportful OK guess they dont sell it iver there 😁 … Matt Stephson is a legend how can you not want to watch this kind of content uf you are not into cycling ? … There are 3 main tours just racing the one Tour must be very boring ?
The more you go under the weight limit it’s only gonna get slower no matter how aero it is
Word is that the uci were on the verge of reducing the minimal weight but held it back knowing that disc brakes were coming in and 6.8 would be very light anyway. Keep in mind that there are people that work for the UCI that have very cushy jobs and will protect it all costs (very similar to politicians)
build a non uci compliant bike. that is, make it lighter than 6.8kg
