Halle that’s why, it became clear to us pretty quickly that it doesn’t matter whether you record in a pompous studio, have this or that guitar, this or that microphone. Much more important is the man , or in this case there are two men

Who are basically at the buttons or at the PC and create the sound. Here were Christoph and Peter and we immediately had faith in these two people and immediately noticed that they were checking where we wanted to go with our music and that they could take us to the next level.

They have the technical know-how, but they also have the instinct to really spur us on and push us to peak performance. We ended up here in Halle, in a beautiful, brand new studio. We are the first band to record here. Here, Christoph, our producer, has treated himself to a studio

And there is still a bit of construction here, but that doesn’t really matter because the recording rooms are finished and we actually think it’s really cool that we have the honor of being the first band here be the one who can inaugurate these sacred halls. The studio is called Sawdust Recordings

And is located here in an industrial area in Halle. Christoph was also significantly involved when the songs were created. Already at the beginning of the year. He produced the first demos, too, um , and we actually knew right away that we didn’t need another producer to re-produce it.

The sound is so powerful and good and we can’t think of anything better that it was clear how we would produce with it and it wouldn’t have mattered where. We could have rented a room somewhere with a microphone and a few guitars and created the sound.

Ultimately, of course, it’s good for him to work in familiar surroundings. He has his studio here in Halle. And then we said, we’ll take three weeks and drive here to Halle. So I wouldn’t play the part with such a heavy delay, I would say.

I always thought it was cool when I played it with it, but maybe it’s the Tele VON WELT has been officially around since 2015, before that we were in the studio in Hamburg and in the rehearsal room at home for two years

And have the songs wrote and thought about a concept for the band. This is also where the concept of silent concerts came from. We played live for the first time in autumn 2015 under the name VON WELT, and since then we have played between 150 and 200 concerts in

I think there are now around ten or more than ten countries, not just on mainland Europe, but also in Asia. We had a few demos back then, including four songs that we really liked , and then we went into the studio in Hamburg and recorded our first EP,

Which was released under the name Billion City, in 2015 and have been touring with it for two years now . as VON WELT, so since 2015 until now, 2017 and now wanted to try something new in terms of sound and have now landed here in Halle, Juli would be proud of you now.

Why? A real July chorus. Yes. Hey, I’m Nico, I play guitar and sing with VON WELT. We’ve been around for two years now and we’re currently on our first study trip here. Just half way through, guitars are recorded. Again. Hey, I kind of slept for a bit

And then I feel like I’m catching my breath. Is it cool? Wait. We’re recording our first album here. We’ve already released an EP. Billionaire City is the name of the one with four songs. Now it was really time for us to bring a little more material onto the market.

Many, many, many songs were created , especially in the early days . And of course they shouldn’t just be lying dormant on the laptop, but they should also be made public. Of course we played a lot and at some point we decided Decided not to record a complete album,

But rather an EP, we chose four songs. The ones we felt were strong. Probably ring through, huh? Or just the… If you do it to the 4? Then it’s the bass slide. Not working now, but I just had to edit that now. I’m Patrick.

I have been playing drums at VON WELT since 2015. I am 33 years old. The grandpa of the band, as some say. I’m Steffen, I play the guitar in VON WELT and like Patrick and Nicolai, I sing a little bit in support of Nico from time to time . I am Nicolai.

I play bass and keyboards at VON WELT. You can take Bill Kaulitz. That would really be like a bit of VON WELT through the monsoon. It has officially been around since 2015. However, we had already been in the studio for two years before that, working on the songs and

Working on the appearance and working on the concept of the silent concerts. So we had a lot to do for two years before we finally went on stage in public. I came to VON WELT before VON WELT existed as VON WELT. In 2013 when we were preparing for the band.

Yes, we met on Tinder. We were probably all sitting at home one evening and didn’t know what to do with our lives. Then we swiped and liked each other right from the start. And so we had a first date. You noticed that you had a common passion for music.

What I appreciate about Nicolai, even though it is often tiring, is that he is an incredibly funny guy. So if you are somewhere and want to concentrate, Nicolai is completely out of place. He then often confuses the tension. But when you’re sitting in the car and he somehow

Catapults the mood with some bad jokes, then you think, it’s really cool that he’s there and that he often reminds us not to take things so seriously. I find it incredibly admirable how sometimes things can pass him by without leaving a trace. And try to cut something off for me too.

Nevertheless, I have the feeling that two generations are already colliding with each other. Well, at least for him and me. So we are a little bit different in terms of worldview and lifestyle, I would say. But that’s not meant in a negative way at all, it’s just kind of cool because

He’s addressing a different group, perhaps a different group, in the area of the audience, the fans, who then identify with him and others with him others from the band. He is very quick, especially with bad jokes. I can’t think of any right now, but you can assume he’ll

Always come up with some bad pun. That’s always really, really good to loosen things up. The colorful dog, a bit crazy, a bit crazy in his way of thinking, sometimes and yet always there in a lovable way when there is something to do. our style person, who always has an eye for making

Sure we look good and that we are up to date in terms of clothing, these are his tasks. Shall we go over to the anteroom now? Just in a big room. Oh right. Still going to be tight. Ah, that’s enough. Or it’s enough if it just stands in the door.

That’s enough in the door, yes exactly. I’m probably the reason Nico will soon have gray hair. Ah, you can still do it. Actually. And stop. We’re going to make a choir now. When broadcasting with the mouse. Cool, I did! We’re pretty deep, aren’t we?

But maybe an octave higher is too high? I don’t know. Should we try it? Yes / Yes. Or just those who want to. I thought we should still keep the tone. You’re screaming like crazy here. Yes, that was a bit of a mix.

Here it comes again and again. You have to pay a little attention to the pace. There’s such a beat underneath. Are we faster or slower? We are slower, much slower. I can always give you a little bit of a signal, then you can basically see the beat.

Can someone sing it to us again? Because I have the feeling that “have” is somehow squeezed into the beat, even though it actually only comes in the other beat. I’ll sing it to you, okay? So we have now recorded 14 songs, all of which I think will be on the album.

And if not, then we still have 1-2 bonus tracks for some Japan Edition or South Korea Edition, of which we have now bagged 14 songs. and me personally I personally don’t mind if there are 14 songs on an album. It can also be a little longer. It just shouldn’t be boring,

But you won’t be with this album. Because it’s the most forward-looking thing and all the guitars are really cool. And because there are also places where the whole band just plays their instrument and doesn’t sing. And we can really rock out there. There are actually several that are particularly close to my heart.

I think “Destroy Me” is a song that pretty much all of us in the band can identify with very well, because everyone has been through a drama like this before , maybe even is currently taking part in it? How is that supposed to have happened? I don’t understand at all.

The plate has a leak. Can’t you just copy the files to another disk and then open them? So if the files sound like that, then they’re usually screwed. Hey, we’ve never had anything like that before. No, I’ve never had that before either.

At the moment there are 14 songs on our clipboard, where we always check off what we have recorded, which is where the guitars have been checked off as of today . I hope everyone makes it onto the album. I’m excited to see if another one will be added before the release,

Which we’ll quickly record because we think it’s so good. Then, either add 15 or another one falls. It’s always a question of structure, how the songs relate to each other, but at the moment we’re really happy to be able to record 14 songs because we have so much material.

And if I leave singing aside, it ‘s a lot of fun to play “Destroy Me” because it finally challenges the guitarists’ abilities. It’s often like, as a lazy guitarist like you are, you don’t sit down at home and practice scales and stuff, but you just have a goal.

So every song is there and you have to be able to perform it well live and then you practice it. So definitely “Destroy me” live. That just makes me want to play this riff. I’m totally happy with every single song right now. I think that’s the fastest and also, I say “hardest”

Not because I wish everyone else was like that, but because it’s just such a highlight. It goes well forward, it goes well and we even have a song, you could even do a circle pit or something. Who knows. To everyone who sees us live at some point, Circle Pit does “Destroy Me”.

Which of course assumes that we have so many people in front of the stage, which of course I really hope for. You see, he does something extra. Then that spurs him on so much. You stink, stink. Stinks, stinks, stinks. I’m Christoph Wieczorek, I’m the producer of the VON WELT record and

I would like to show you very briefly what kind of guitars we used, for all the nerds among you who know a little bit about it. Or for everyone who is even interested in it or not. We took a whole battalion here for the album because we wanted so many different guitar sounds.

The guys play basically everything there is, from metal to absolutely clean and semi-acoustic. I’ll start with the one we used the least, which was these Jaguar Fender guitars. They are very chic, 70’s look, but haven’t been used that often now. I think the guys… Do you play them live often?

We have, but not anymore because they don’t really fit the sound anymore. But for the studio for a few places it was… Yes, we already used it for a few lead things. That was a bit of its own sound. But what was actually used very often were the Telecasters, especially the ones here,

Of course Fender Telecasters. Of course they have the classic Telecaster sound and especially for the rock and yes, the heavier stuff, where it’s supposed to scream a little bit, they were really cool. If you want it to be a bit cleaner, here is Hülsenberg. I can only recommend.

He brought along a mega guitar from Nico. Of course it was perfect for the quiet stuff, but I think we also used it for the lead parts. Simply because it has such an open sound. Completely different than an electric guitar, a normal electric guitar. This was the complete opposite.

This is one of mine. Actually my favorite guitar Third Eye from France, baritone model. If that sounds like it has a longer neck and is therefore a bit better for deep tunings, we have sometimes used it to make a chorus a bit fatter, so to speak, as half a bass instrument.

We actually often recorded the guitars or the parts with different guitars within the songs. The one that was mainly used was this Gibson here, also one of mine. Actually it’s not the most expensive model, but it has a great sound. It’s made of swamp ash, so it’s pretty light and

Of course it’s still the classic Gibson. Nice warm sound for lead stuff too, nice singing leads and stuff like that, great guitar. Yes, and what else do we have here? The Washburn. Did we actually use those, yes? We always had the Washburn for such open-ended things. I think “Tearful.” Yes.

So the 2-3 times, but not particularly often. And this is another Jaguar. Exactly. Actually, that’s almost it. Exactly. Can you pick out a guitar for us, a song in particular that comes to mind that will end up on the album? So what was so typical of Telecaster?

What was typical Telecaster is of course “Black Black White”. That was this one. Actually, you can say, mainly and… And then we had more… We actually used them a lot for the modern sounds, like “Diebe” for example or… What else is there? Say something, here! What do we have on the list here?

I think “Destroy Me” had that American sound. Exactly. Christoph, tell me what we used for infinity. Oh dear, I have no idea. No, “Infinity”, not “Dear Time”. No, I can’t say. I do not know anymore. I think we still have to play it. There’s another cross behind it.

Hi, we are currently in Halle, recording our first album and Steffen also brought a little something from home. That was smart, wasn’t it? An analog error here now. Haha An analog error. What? Analog error. Good. Do we want to do a take with head voice? It would definitely be funny too.

I’m out of there. You’re probably the only one who can do that. Everyone can do this. Can you not do that? Exactly. Great, you’re coming up the back. That sounded like a deer getting shot. Cool. Let’s try again. Good. So now let’s get back in here.

Then we’ll have all the fun in here. The orientation of the objects is precisely aligned with the key of C sharp major. Yes, and here is the cable drum too. Do not touch! But now we are totally happy that we are here in Halle. Halle, Saxony-Anhalt. Halle on the Saale.

At Sawdust Recordings, in German sawdust. At the moment there is more construction dust because there is still a construction site here. It’s Christoph and Peter’s studio and they built it anew and we’re really proud that we’re the first band that can now inaugurate these holy halls here. When we met Christoph,

It was clear to us that he should make the album here. And then it didn’t matter to us whether it was in Halle or somewhere else. Because we absolutely trust Christoph and we really have a very good feeling that something decent will come out of it. This will be done quickly tomorrow.

But now I don’t have the nerve anymore. So, “Second Heart” and “With Time”. “With time”. We should be able to do it tomorrow. OK, I’m out. Take a listen to “Second Heart”. So as a young band without a big budget, it’s of course always difficult to live together with four, five, sometimes

Six other people in such a small space, because we have a minibus, we don’t sleep in a hotel, we often sleep in a room and it’s Of course it’s nice , on the one hand, because you get to know each other in a completely different way

And you notice that everyone ticks the same way. And you should n’t have any fear of contact at all when you do something like that. At some point you actually reach a point where nothing is embarrassing anymore. An example: we were in Kassel and

Spontaneously decided to go there and we didn’t have a room for the evening. We then put out 2, 3, 4 inquiries at short notice. “Hey, who has something for us tonight? We need a room.” And there actually was an answer. “We’re not at home right now, but our neighbor has a key.

Come over, you can sleep in our house.” That actually gave me a little bit of hope back in humanity, that there are actually still people who blindly trust you, they don’t know us. We are four guys, plus a band, who often have a bit of a chaotic reputation. And then to say,

Pack yourself into our apartment, that’s all cool. I found that to be a really crazy experience. Do another one now. It’s a bit too much rimshot for me now. Better do it a little bit like before. The song that certainly touched me the most, lyrically, or concerned me the most is “Second Heart”.

Although it actually took me a long time to interpret it the way Nico actually meant it. That makes the song special again because it actually touched me twice. Once when I interpreted it in my own way and once when I actually understood what the text was about, namely the unwanted pregnancy, that

Something was growing inside you, a second heart was beating and you were thinking about it with this second heart , to live or not to live. In the same way, two hearts can beat within you, moving in two different directions. That would have been my first interpretation.

Maybe we just understood each other non-verbally. In any case, I thought it was good now. Make sure the snares are nice and crisp again. So the sound is crisp. And then we have it. I could actually imagine something like that for “Second Heart” as part C. Cool. What did you use there?

Baritone, E-Bow in Fender Twin. I think I’m actually looking forward to “Second Heart” the most. Because of the 6/8 time signature. Of course, I often ask myself why do you do this to yourself? Bringing 4, 5, 6 people together, finding an appointment with them, going somewhere, playing a concert?

Why not do a solo project or come with your laptop and DJ somehow? No, that wouldn’t be the same. Then you would sit alone in the car… And then of course there would be… It’s probably like that for each of us “Over time”.

Of the songs on the album, I think this is the one that has been on the rehearsal table for the longest time. We’ve been working on this song over and over again for almost four years now. There are 3,000 versions of it and I think the final version that we

‘ve put on the album is already one of the strongest. So, wait, I’ll get the track ready. Exactly. I actually find it really cool. Yes, should I come over or do you need anything else? I actually find the chord a bit strange. What? I actually find the chord a bit strange,

Which one, which one, which one? The. I thought about swapping the two. Nope. Yes? No, not really. Again? Let’s try something out. He’s not, he’s somehow so characterless. Well, you expect it to be there because it comes the first time. So we can go out first.

Yes, somehow it fits with the… Where are we going? On? What did you want to say? What did you mean? Goosebumps chorus. Hmmm. Yes, today we worked with the time and Christoph really got something out of it. And I’m particularly happy about that

Because we’ve been playing it live for quite a long time and there was no recording of it. We wrote the other songs more recently and there are a few real gems in there too . Something else that really suits my personal taste is a song called “Stay”.

Currently still a working title. Maybe he will stay like that. There is still Steffen in the band who plays the guitar. Steffen and I got to know each other better at school because we simply had a lot of common interests. And then the moment came when his bands

Had all broken up and Patrick and I called him. So I said to Patrick back then, I know someone who would fit in really well in the band. And Steffen agreed that he would play bass because our bass player had just left. After Nicolai joined the band much later

And took over playing the bass, Steffen switched to the instrument he had originally learned to play, namely the guitar. And those were my first experiences playing with four people in a band, with two guitars and personally it makes it a lot easier for me that someone else

Plays all the parts so that I can only concentrate on singing. What I like about Steffen I really appreciate order and his discipline. Steffen really manages to put plans together well and thinks of a lot of things that a lot of people sometimes forget. He cooks incredibly well.

I think this can really be highlighted. That’s relatively good for us, because otherwise we would only live on McDonald’s and of course that’s not so cool either. Sometimes he tries to push the vegan stuff on us here, but it is always successful or often successfully rejected. Especially from me.

I have learned over the last ten years that it doesn’t matter whether someone is a virtuoso on their instrument, That’s actually not helpful for the band at all. So you don’t need the best guitarist, the best drummer, the best bassist, the best singer in a band, but the band

Thrives because the band can naturally play together. That’s important, of course, but the band lives even more from the fact that they understand each other and don’t just see the whole thing as a project. And it was actually clear to me that this was the case with Steffen and that

Steffen and Patrick probably get along very well and that this constellation fits. Now he’s jumping, watch out! Out of! As an orchid. Christoph will be there in 10 minutes. Shall we start it now? Yes. Peter is his colleague, we didn’t know him before. So we only met Christoph, who basically

Helped create our demos , and he then introduced Peter to us as his studio assistant. But we wouldn’t have thought that he would be such a funny guy who would enhance the mood so much. With his dry sense of humour, with the sayings he says and often even for his quite young age

, a few words of wisdom that he always spouts out, just as if the world were there, his neck is arched. And it plays really cool, but I have the feeling that it doesn’t sound right, so it sounds… It sounds like it’s stopped. Like I have my hand on it a little bit.

Much deeper than the other one, right? Yes, but still , yes, that could be the reason. Oh, the location or the tuning? No, or what do you want to do? What did you mean by deeper now? The tuning deeper, or how they…? No, the location. Yes, I think so too.

Maybe we can make it a little higher? Yes, sure, gladly. Do you want to do that Steffen? You are the Guitar Hero. I don’t know. It’s so funny that this pot is on the pot. It’s like, “We didn’t have room for more pots, so we just screwed pots onto pots.”

Like you have a drum with a drum on it. It has no room in the set now. You just have to play it once from above and once from below. What I always find funny with drummers is when they have garbage pools

With stuff on top of each other, stacks or whatever it’s called. So several layers on top of each other. And then it just goes “Psh…”. I always call it trash because it always sounds like trash. They always have something hanging there that makes them go “Psh…”.

That’s what makes such a strange noise easy. It doesn’t really sound like anything, it just sounds like garbage. Do you need light? Look, I can turn on the light in the back for you. Might have been enough. Could I have the Plek again? Ah, that’s what the switch is for.

And I only met Peter here. Peter is a super cool guy, we have a lot of fun with him because he somehow makes such dry comments all the time. And what I think you can also say, which please don’t be misunderstood, is that he sings a bit. And that’s just really funny.

I have to check again whether the tonality of the string still matches. Much better! Every person has something that drives him. For him the cigarette, for him the cell phone and for him the hunger. It’s not held like that anymore, is it? We’ve been here for a week now

And it feels like a short eternity. We’re just on our way to dinner here again. If our singer had his way, we would be eating all day long. But that’s just how he is and we have to go along with it. Breakfast is followed by lunch, and within a very short time

There is cake, 4 a.m. tea, dinner, supper, midnight snack, sleep and breakfast. Well, good afternoon, we are here in Halle today. We’re doing a recording session here, so to speak, are recording the album at Sawdust Recordings no, here, so, sawdust recordings, they’ve already invented stairs,

We’re just walking down them. We’re going to have some lunch now. No, here somehow, it’s nice here. A bit bleak, but that’s our music too. From that point of view, that fits, the depressive mood. It’s going to be a great album, no, life-affirming, it’s going to be great, great.

No, just some weird lyrics here that no one actually wants to hear anymore. But no one wants to live, so listen to the album briefly beforehand. Great. Excellent. As you can see, Boromir has recently joined Silly. Below left. But he only lasts the first 15 minutes, then some fucking orc stabs him.

Patrick, how do you feel when you’re replaced by a drum machine? Hey, I’ve never played so hot. Great sound! I don’t have to vote. Really cool. Yes, I also found it very pleasant to play with the drums. I have to say, yes. Ah, I think relatively highly of Patrick.

On the one hand, of course, his experience due to his old age. No, he’s just a few years ahead of us and that’s a good thing because he sometimes has tips that somehow help you. At the beginning, when I joined the band and was a little younger, it was really cool.

Now that would be a variant that is less noticeable. Let’s hear it for a moment. Here I would need 2 or 3 beats to get into the rhythm. Personally, I would say Patrick is rock solid. That means no matter what happens, he doesn’t let it bother him,

While the rest of us are kind of running in circles hysterically saying, “Oh no, oh no, how are we supposed to deal with some situation now?” You can assume that he is enjoying puffing on his cigarillo and letting things come to him. Patrick’s special qualities are certainly his incredible craftsmanship.

He can make us anything, so he’ll build everything for you. You can give him a piece of wood and he’ll build you a car out of metal, that’s… that guy. So when it comes to craft things, incredible. What I don’t like about him is that when there are two of us, I

Have to fight for the alcohol so that I can get some. When you know that you have a drummer like Patrick behind you, who you can absolutely rely on because he plays every break exactly the way he always plays it and as a singer it’s just crazy how he pulls it off .

And you only learn to appreciate that after you ‘ve played together for a few years. That’s why I wouldn’t want to miss making music with him anymore. We can really count on him to hammer the song through to the bitter end. Even if somehow, I don’t know,

Here somehow, the song is shifted or something and I think, “Ahh, there’s a fire now.” Patrick goes crazy. It’s crazy that it’s already loose. Patrick, Steffen and I also created an alternative version of the lyrics for each song. They will be available on the Mallorca Edition of the album.

So depending on what you’re in the mood for. If you feel like going crazy, then definitely “Destroy me” and “Thieves”. “Black Black White” fits in well and “Ice Age”. But the quieter songs also have their moment on stage, from that point of view, actually the whole album and

“Eiszeit” has become a favorite because I also really, really like the vocal line. You could shoot the “Lion King” scene here now. “That my son Simba, the dark on the horizon.” Um, you don’t react like that, do you? I already had a bit of email contact with Christoph because he was ours, he

Did some of the pre-production and I can admit, I was very in awe of him, because he plays and sings in a mega band and as far as I know he also writes the songs. And because he had already produced this pre-production so brilliantly

That I thought, “Yeah, what else are we supposed to do in the studio?” The impression now is definitely that he’s a really nice guy and it’s a lot of fun to work with him. What’s super cool is that he’s also a guitarist and that you can talk to him.

How am I supposed to play something like that and stuff? And he has a completely different approach than other producers I’ve met so far. So, I have the feeling that there is a little less voodoo involved, but rather the result is what counts, no matter how you get there

And then it doesn’t matter whether the guitar sound is digital or from an amp or how long the cable is is what’s in between and so on, but it has to sound good. What is particularly close to my heart is “wasting your youth” because that is what we do here.

So our life plan is sung about a little bit, for which we have to expect a lot of understanding from our family, friends and circle of friends . And in the song we express that we are quite grateful that what we do here is tolerated, that we are simply

Not at home for a few weeks or are at home and leave straight away and so on Somehow we don’t notice anything from home and yes, the song is about us wanting to say thank you for that. And that’s why I now asked which song is particularly close to my heart.

Which ones are particularly close to my heart, I would now say “waste your youth”. I would now say “waste your youth” Everyone has this youth clique from their earlier youth with which they perhaps associate certain things that are no longer the case today. Friends you haven’t seen in years.

Maybe not exactly the car accident scene, but just the fact that you haven’t seen friends in years. It’s different, for example, with a song like “Waste your youth”. This topic is also taken up, so to speak, that a short moment is stretched out, so to speak the car accident that it is about.

But you say, you then have these flashbacks to moments of your youth and tell a story about the people sitting in the car. There’s very little on the album that tells a real story. Often it’s emotions, but I like that. What really stands out about the song

Is that the listener is taken on such a journey. I really enjoy playing “Waste Your Youth,” the song is just fun, it’s a little longer than the others, you can really enjoy it over a long period of time. It’s really fun. Can you do the fill again with the “Dadadada” at the end?

Okay, um, that was here now. Where else do we have that? I didn’t know that… We have twice that. I think that’s the best take ever. Am I live? Yes, you are live. I’m still editing Instagram pictures here. Singing was actually supposed to take place, but Christoph just ran away.

I wanted to record, er, sing two more songs here today, but now we can only do one. How much have you sung so far? Today or overall? Generally. 8 pieces. Today we really accomplished a big load. “Second Heart” has been sung. What did we do this morning? I don’t know anymore.

What did I sing this morning? “Waste your youth”. Oh yes, exactly “waste your youth”. And now we’re probably still doing “pre-war children.” Really with a little screaming. And tell me, why are you making “priority children” now? Does this have any particular reason? Do you need a particularly gentle voice?

So it starts right away. I just want to hear if that sounds cool. I really like the drums on your album. Ha, it’s fat. So it doesn’t get any better than this, I don’t think. So you probably have to hit the edge, or of the trash can?

That doesn’t sound too bad, but try turning it sideways. No, try… By sideways I mean lay on the side. Exactly, hit that. “Vorkriegskinder” is of course also a relatively important song for me from a political point of view. because I am of the opinion that we are really facing a third world war

Or a situation that could lead to one. And that’s why it’s a pretty important song for me . Yeah, fat. And this “Badadadadadadamm”, that’s what we’re doing now, uh, Nico gets this plastic box and you take the trash can. Yes Yes Yes. That’s what the snare always was.

Nice. That was the trash can. Yes, it couldn’t be more broken, so let’s carry on, that’s so fun, isn’t it? That’s always what you see in big bands’ productions and you think it would be cool to do something like that. That brings something. That’s kind of cool. That’s not always Damage Drums VST,

Preset 5. And even if it’s just the trash can from the kitchen, which is now unfortunately broken. Oh well. My dog is dying right now from all this drumming. That’s what drives him so crazy. One more. The very first one was too flamey. What are those white lines there? I’ve even edited sound.

Me too, but it took me half an hour for somehow three seconds. I edited my role play together. Yes, me too, for school. You have to stop here, so these are the bar lines. And those are basically your words here. That was, that was one of the first songs that were ever written.

That was actually the first song that was created together with Christoph. Back then we had maybe three numbers where we said they were good, they were candidates for an album. And then we started writing and then this amazing number came about, right on the first day.

And everyone knew okay, not only would this be an album candidate, but it would probably also be the single that would come out first or second. That will determine where the band’s sound should go. And the song should definitely not be missed. What I like about my band members in general is

That we are still very different characters. On the one hand, we have Nico, who often doesn’t get off work, but who always pushes us to do new things, do more and move forward. Otherwise a lot of things wouldn’t be the same… Without the bumblebees in his ass and without his motivation and without

His announcements and his ass-kicking, we wouldn’t be at the point we are now. You can say that quite clearly. I don’t think any of the other three of us could have kept the motivation so high and the tension so high and really kicked ourselves and the others asses to such an extent

That we really kept going. I think we were often at a point where we thought, “Does it still make sense right now? Is it worth the time and money and all the investment?” And Nico was actually always the one who didn’t really question things, but always pushed us on to further achievements.

And I believe that we are here and that we now have the opportunity to record and tour an album like this. This is largely thanks to him. You could probably call him a, I don’t know, visionary, well, Nico always has pretty crazy ideas

That at first you always think, “Oh, here we go again, that’s exhausting and that doesn’t work and that doesn’t work.” But he has such stamina that he somehow makes the impossible possible. He’s proven that a few times now. And that is definitely one of its great strengths.

Other people are responsible for everything else, so he is the one with the vision and when it comes to, “Wait a minute, you have to consider this, this and this.” Maybe we’ll do that then. But he doesn’t let himself be dissuaded from anything so easily. And very important!

It definitely has to go in. That was the first idea. Hannes recorded it, right? Yes I believe. Doesn’t fit into the soundscape at all anymore, yes. What do you expect from the album? “That I’m finally done here.” It’s best not to expect anything, then you won’t be disappointed, like that.

I expect to listen to this at some point and enjoy how good it sounds. Or? Yes. I think so too. Well, I’ve never had an album that I enjoyed listening to afterwards, maybe four weeks or so, but then I do n’t really want to listen to it anymore.

Can you listen to your own music? Yes. But I rarely listen to music anyway. Because I always listen to music every day and no, I can do that. The worst thing at the moment is when I have to write new songs for the new album. When I

Listen to the last album now, I get a really strange feeling like… You can’t top it? How am I supposed to do this again? Hmmm. So, how did I do that? Well, yeah, but that’s just it. That’s because, of course, you listen to something within three quarters of an hour

Or half an hour or I know how long the album is, but you ‘ve been sitting on it for years or months and then you think that you somehow have to do it again the day after tomorrow , of course that doesn’t work. It’s a terrible process and…

For me it’s more like this: I know that I won’t be able to do it until the day after tomorrow, but then I also see the mountain. It was a real mountain of work. Well, there are also… You know it yourself, some of the people brought some ideas with them, which you then…

It’s unbelievable how much work goes into an album like this and most people don’t even realize it appreciate it or simply can’t imagine it or something like that. You can no longer imagine it when you hear it at the end. You think it wasn’t that much. Really crude.

I just think that with music you can express emotions and feelings in a completely different way , especially on stage. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m more of a drier type, and some people are amazed: “Woah, what’s going on with you when you’re on stage?” And that’s a way for me

To express emotions. In addition, making music like in a band is simply not possible any other way. Well, no one who plays guitar at home can get the feeling of what it’s like when four people, there are only four of us, when four people make music together and something happens.

So we once said, what actually makes a band? A band is like that, more than the sum of its parts. And that’s what drives me. And that you can do something good for someone who can listen to it. That’s definitely the icing on the cake.

So when people stand in front of the stage and celebrate it or write us messages saying that the lyrics touched them or something else, that’s just amazing. Music gives me a certain freedom to be able to do what comes from deep within.

Well, I can still remember that as a little boy I always said I wanted to be a singer. And at some point you realize that this goal of actually playing in front of people is getting closer and closer. That sometimes things that you never even dared to dream of become reality.

It’s certainly the moments on stage, playing live in front of an audience that, in the best case scenario, also goes crazy. The adrenaline that you’re pumping out and the hormones, I do n’t think there’s much that comes close to that. So it’s an indescribably awesome feeling, actually.

Then traveling is also part of it. We were now in countries where I would probably otherwise… I didn’t even know them on the map. And we have already experienced so much. I think we’ve merged into such a unit over the last few years. This is unique.

Well, I think we are actually something like a second family. I grew up with music, I’ve been playing drums since I was a child, I learned it in the traditional way in the village with a music club and so on. I grew up with it and learned it through my family

And there was never any question of giving it up at some point. No matter what form it takes, I will always make music. Of course , 5, 6, 7 years ago I couldn’t have imagined that I would have developed this as intensively as we are currently doing . It’s difficult

To live like that, even if many people always think, “Being a musician is somehow a dream job and you don’t do anything all day. You first sleep in and start working at lunchtime, but then only until five and then you’re good again.” Of course it’s not like that.

It’s hard work, it’s a lot of work, you have to see where you stay. But it’s incredibly fun. You get to know a lot of people, very nice people, make a lot of contacts, experience an incredible amount and have something to tell. If at some point I ‘m sitting on a

Bench with my grandchildren on my lap , sitting on a park bench , and I can tell them about it, then it’ll actually be worth it. Whether it ultimately succeeds or doesn’t succeed, it’s the experience that counts. Completely unimportant, I don’t believe it at all. What is unimportant? But yours wasn’t there.

We only used the bass because we were lazy because we didn’t try the other one. So what’s missing now? “Ashes on the head” Or now, “We are us”, ne “We were here” “We were here” So here goes the record, here I don’t have to format it to use it.

I don’t have to lose all my data. So pointless. Yes, if I were a normal user now, yes? Then you would have to format them, yes. Then I would have to format my hard drive now. 2TB of data, backups, stuff that is then gone forever.

No, you plug it into your Mac for a moment. There it goes, then you plug it back into Windows and then it works. Nene. Dude, if you… The 4k footage, one minute, four gigabytes Hmm. 4k tofu. You can see every molecule of the tofu. You can almost see the soy sprouts there. Sprouts.

If Peter is still wandering around I can’t do that. Get rid of your scarf. Artist scarf. Artists’ Social Fund Scarf A lot of effort and sweat goes into all the negotiations about which song will ultimately come out and you have to somehow assert yourself against the management every day. sometimes different ideas,

Somehow asserting themselves against the management. You often have different ideas between the band members, but it’s worth it in the end and it’s not for nothing that we’re sitting here now, we have our dream producer on board and we’re looking forward to a cool record.

And I’m really excited that it’s coming out in 2018.
