INCIDENTALLY, we have since found out that this person is a known fraudster/con artist who goes by the name of ‘Hasanat’. The arrest made may have been related to this. More detals below;

We had a very successful recovery a few weeks back… but in this instance, the victim was from LONDON!
Luke Griffiths had his very distinctive bike stolen from his lock up in London. After scouring the internet, he found it for sale… here in Cambridge!
So, he reached out to his friend (here, in Cambridge) who reached out to me. She also agreed to pose as a buyer. In the meantime, we also managed to get a police officer to attend the scene. It wasnt straight forward though as the seller made us wait 50min claiming to be around the corner. We clung onto hope – and sure enough, he turned up WITH the bike! 😃
He was subsequently arrested and another (potentially stolen) bike was seized from his car.
We don’t know if this seller stole the bike however, admitted to buying bikes at very low prices without asking any questions. He probably thought that Cambridge would be a safe bet…. BIG MISTAKE! 😬
