In this episode, we take you with us to discover our most incredible nights in Thailand! We are at the Thai border, our 20th country! It went really well, we’re always a little nervous before arriving at the borders because there’s always a bit of corruption… things like that and so we had

30 days without a visa. It’s free but since Thailand is a big country we’ll see to try to renew it during the crossing of the country to reach 60 days because in 30 days it won’t be possible. But otherwise super easy, we’re happy!

First store after the border: it’s 7Eleven, the store that will save our lives: air conditioning, microwave, small chairs and cheap food. Everyone told us “you’ll see, Thailand is a bicycle traveler’s paradise” and we were able to discover it with our own eyes: apart from the magnificent roads, there is food

Everywhere and the people are beyond adorable and the landscapes are breathtaking! Our first night in Thailand, we will spend it on a heavenly beach of white sand and a blazing sunset. We even have public showers available. We sit under

The small roof of a restaurant, closed for the off-season. There we are protected against humidity and insects… This will be the first night in a long series of “postcard” bivouacs! Where are we RoxyRox? So we just arrived in Koh-Tao, a small island in the Gulf of Thailand,

We took a night boat and there we are, going to explore the island for 3 days. 3 days of vacation! We are on the island of Koh Chang, with locals, in Thailand, in a small fishing village. We even have our own house on stilts which are not holding up very well. Some of the houses around have collapsed, we hope that this one has good stilts because otherwise we’ll end up in the river!

Our second unusual night in Thailand was at a local’s house, met by chance on the side of the road, they offered us to spend a few days with them on the terrace of their house on stilts. It’s a real fishing village, we share

Evening meals together: fish caught by the whole family. We have a good laugh without knowing how to speak each other’s language… Very beautiful moments. With the machete! Hahaha Bye bye thank you so much! Kop khun khrap We are in Thailand and we are in a temple for our 13th night in a temple.

There are quite a few temples in Thailand. This helps us out a lot because since the rainy season has arrived, we can no longer really put up the tent without a roof above our heads…

The rains are intense all night long and the temples are the perfect place: there are about one in each village in Thailand, so very very numerous and each time we have almost the same ritual: We arrive at the end of the day in the temple and try to find

A monk or monks to ask them if it is possible to sleep there. They never refuse. They are always very happy to see us and they always offer to sleep under one of the buildings. It is always the same building which is a bit like the public hall of the temple

And the advantage of this hall, in addition to being protected from the rain, is that there are fans which allows you cool down a little bit during the night. It’s nice. In the end, the most of nights of our stay will be spent in Thai Buddhist temples: a total of 15 nights!

Always very well received, sometimes we even have breakfasts and an air-conditioned room and other times not many discussions but a large roof, always with access to the toilets. You will have understood, we strongly advise you to undertake a cycling trip to Thailand! But don’t forget: safety above all, be insured with Chapka Assurance.
