[Music] this is the Moto gutsi V7 Stone  and this video has been made possible   by the generosity of Wheels motorcycles based in  peterborough so have a look on their website they   offered to deliver this bike all the way from  peterborough the other side of the country to

Me here in Wales and that is Testament to what  that dealer is like because they will deliver   a bike anywhere in the UK so if you’re looking  for a used bike new bike whatever you can get

It delivered to you don’t have to be local to  their dealership so I very very highly recommend them [Music]   [Applause] [Applause] before I tell you how good this Moto goodsy is  I just want to tell you the story of how we we

Got to this point now you honestly couldn’t make  it up we genuinely thought we were jinxed because   I contacted motor gutsy just over four years  ago I checked thankfully we have one now so   let’s get into the review first of all what a  stunning looking motorcycle is absolutely drop

Dead gorgeous genuinely and before I took it out  while it was nice and clean I did all the shots   from different angles and whatever angle you  choose this motorbike is absolutely beautiful   it’s a joy to photograph and it’s a joy to  look at it’s quite comfortable we’ll going

Into the ergonomics in a minute but you’ve got  this sort of scooped out seat which is nice but   as with all scooped out seats it fixes you in  one position and I’d like to be say about an

Inch further back but it’s difficult cuz you  can’t because of the ridge so it would be so   much better if it had a flat bench seat you’ve  got an enormous 21 ler fuel tank here but when

You actually sit on the bike it looks really  narrow and looking down the bike is narrow of   course you got the cylinders sticking out either  side but not by very much and I was worrying that

Maybe I might hit my knees on them and that’s  not a problem at all nowhere near so if that’s   one of your concerns uh that’s not a problem I’m  going to come to what this bike is like to ride

In a minute you won’t believe it you will not  believe it but I’ll start having a run through   the bike from front to back now you’ve got some  very nice alloy wheels in this bike they look

Lovely but I do prefer the spoke wheels and so  does Darcy who’s 21 on the special now you’ve   got a totally useless front mud guard it’s way  too small it doesn’t do anything at all so that

Needs to be bigger and come down to here because  the engine which is a work of art is caked in mud   which is a terrible shame so manufacturers like I  said in another video we’re on a mission to stop

This silly small mud guard design it should be  a thing of the past engine’s beautiful beautiful   beautiful beautiful you got a nice exhaust pipe  either side it’s symmetrical as Spike this side   looks like that side and like Darcy said in  his review it’s just as beautiful here as it

Is from the angle you’re looking at it from uh as  I said a scoop seat should be a bench seat that’   be nice lovely tank beautiful shape 21 L massive  fantastic the rear mud guard is nice I think it’s

Made of plastic uh not a problem that makes it  lighter and the rear light cluster is very nice   too I like that and and because the mud guard is  big enough the number plate can stick straight

On the back without a silly plastic extender so  that’s good uh you’ve got twin shocks and they   look nice and Meaty uh very nice and of course a  sha Drive which is beautiful absolutely beautiful   I like the feel of a shaft drive the controls  are lovely quality everything is lovely quality

Come into that bit in a minute the mirrors I  can see 50% of the road and the controls are   nice and simple there’s not much to it no modes  no silly nonsense with electronics get on and go [Music] on the V7 special you’ve got two  beautiful analog gauges like two Rolex

Watches uh a speedometer and a rev counter on  all the other models you’ve got this rather   unpleasant looking digital display and not only  that it’s offset which is just wrong should be in   the center but unfortunately it cheapens the bike  for me because when you’re riding along you’re on

This beautiful motorcycle and as you look down it  just looks horrible it’s like going from a Rolex   watch to a cheap plastic Casio watch so that’s  a step backwards because the older models had a

Lovely analog dial as well so to go to this is a  big step backwards and it’s not just motor gutsy   that are doing it lots of Manufacturers are so so  please go back to analog dials nobody’s asked for

These things so now we’ve got the elephants out of  the room what is the bike like to ride well I can   tell you it’s absolutely fabulous it’s amazing  it’s wonderful it’s got so much character when

You start the engine it shakes and it feels like  you’re sitting on a living creature and I love   motorbikes like that when you go up through the  gears they clonk very reassuringly and that’s a   lovely feeling it’s a lovely character love it  uh and so did Darcy when he reviewed it he could

Not believe it he came back so amazed by it he  said look shall I sell my Harley and buy one of   these he was that impressed it is brilliant it’s a  lovely motorcycle it handles beautifully it rides

Beautifully uh the power and the talk is really  spot on for the real world uh you don’t need more   in reality it’s got enough to give it some and  have an enjoyable ride but um one thing I notice

Is when you’re riding along say in the city in the  busy traffic at low revs it rides really nicely   slowly which is something a lot of bikes don’t do  it’s not snatchy at all you can go along slowly

Happily and it’s great if you open the throttle  at low RPM let’s say from uh 2000 it kind of has   a flat spot you kind of go and then it goes and  then you get into this other band so if you want

To go fast on this bike you need to be a bit above  three 3,000 RPM so from 3 250 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 6,000   RPM this bike is really in its element that’s  where it wants to be so it’s got mid and top end

More than it’s got bottom end but like I said that  sort of uh comfortable bottom end makes it really   nice in the city traffic so you kind of get like  two bikes out of one with that kind of feel to it Now I’m 6′ 2 6′ 3 in these boots and that is what  I look like on the bike there’s tons of arm room   and it feels quite comfortable my feet are forward  of my bottom line which is good although my knees

Are bent more than a right angle it still feels  fine uh it’s a very comfortable bike and it feels   really good riding and it’s wonderful the stand  I really like this stand it’s very positive you

Push it down it’s very firm and you know it’s  in and when you get off you’re sure that the   bike’s on the stand cuz some motorbikes seem to  want to tip over uh um so this is a good design

Like that when I was riding through the town I  must say I noticed a lot of people look at this   bike it’s a real head turner and people that are  not interested in motorbikes they’re all looking

What’s that so it really does attract attention  in a good way um I doubt you’ll get haters on   a bike like this like you do with the Harley and  certain other brands um it’s all good so I parked

Up at a little biker place I didn’t really speak  to anyone but you know people seem to uh react   nicely to it which is a good thing now let’s go  over some facts and figures which I’ve written

Down um the V7 Stone like we have here starts at £  8,200 that’s not a bad price is it for what you’re   getting it’s a fabulous motorcycle the V7 special  which both Darcy and I love is a tiny bit more at

£ 8,600 and that you get the spokes the beautiful  gauges and it just looks stunning now Darcy’s 21   years of age bear in mind and I’m 21 and a half so  we both like that style so that says a lot doesn’t

It um you’ve got the V7 special edition at £950  and I think there’s a few more Stone corser 950   so they’re all fantastic 853 CCC a v2n in with so  much character and charm it’s beautiful lovely um

It’s air cooled which I always love uh air stroke  oil fantastic this will give you 65 horsepower at   6,800 RPM and 73 Newton M of torque which Peaks  at 5,000 RPM interestingly say the Triumph t00

That Peaks at Mid 3,000 3250 or something like  that I’ll have to check check the figures but um   that’s why this bike feels when you open it up at  lower RPM it feels like it’s not quite there until

The rev’s build so you can you can if you look  at the rev counter you can see where the sweet   spot is A2 license uh tune available so you can  go to the dealer they can tweak the uh little ECU

Thing and make it a little less powerful so you  can have it on an A2 license which is good idea   uh it does 57.6 5 MP gallon six gears as I said  21 L tank which is huge but doesn’t look huge

Which is superb absolutely superb and it is 20023  kg which is reasonably light uh it doesn’t feel   heavy I must say and that’s that so what a bike  check in your country what the prices are and uh

Go go for a test rrive because they’re fantastic  this bike certainly has more character than most   other bikes in its class um the only thing I  can like in it too like Darcy did was the BMW

R18 which has the same sort of character but uh  more magnified because it’s a more powerful more   torky bigger capacity bike this sort of does it  in a condensed way but in in the S same sort of

Way which is lovely it really does make you feel  good when you uh sit on this bike it’s lovely so   how can we Define what we say is character now if  you you ever sat on a horse just standing there

You can feel the animals alive you can feel it  breathing it’s moving you can feel its muscles   moving and that’s what this feels like when the  engine’s running and you’re sitting still it   feels like it’s a living creature and when you go  through the gears it gives you feedback everything

You do with this motorcycle it’s talking to  you the whole time and that’s character that’s   it’s lovely some motorcycles are so refined that  they’re boring uh they may be faster but they’re   not as interesting and I’m the sort of Rider who  goes out for an enjoyable ride to go somewhere

Nice I’m not worrying about going around the  next Corner as fast as I can that doesn’t even   come into my mind it’s got nothing to do with  motorcycle riding for me and I think for a lot

Of people it’s all about the fun the enjoyment the  style looking cool feeling great and a motorbike   like this gives you all of those feelings by  the bucket load so it’s really fantastic so uh   even with this horrible thing on the front here  I’d still recommend the bike it’s superb but if

You don’t like that you can get the special uh  but you know would that put you off I’d like   to know because uh both Dary and I said well we we  wouldn’t want to get one with that on it we’d have

To get the special uh but you may be different  from me so let us know I have moaned about that   but um I’m on a mission to stop manufacturers  with the madg guard and the dials so uh I’m

Going to hammer it home a bit hard so forgive me  for that but I hope you like the review uh there’s   more motor gsies to come lots more other bikes  to come it’s going to be a great year so keep

Watching this space and we’ll see you on the  next [Music] [Laughter] [Music] video [Music] l

    1. Have to say, that silver edition looks far better in real life footage than it does in the computer graphic images on Guzzi's (very annoying) website and it's the one I'd buy on looks over the one Darcy reviewed. It's a great looking bike and definitely one I would consider buying as a back road explorer. Guzzi would do well to put more of their bikes your way because they deserve a much higher profile. Guzzis fly under the radar and more people should try one. I wish they still made the 1400 California Custom.
If you can't afford a Bonneville and aren't keen on the Enfields these little Guzzis are in a class of one for quality and value. So nice to see them getting a boost. Get your money out Darcy.

    2. Great review and I totally agree on the single gauge, but especially since it is offset……..I hate that! I have a V7 III Special and the twin clocks are perfect. Totally love the bike as well. Thanks for the review!

    3. Nice seeing my exact bike on your channel! Piaggio USA just replaced mine as the engine literally blew-up internally (without flames). I was drenched in engine oil and so was the bike. Some engine part burst from the front of the engine at around 300 miles leaving a 2” diameter hole.

M-G replaced the bike and now I am a bit afraid to ride it! It’s lovely, however, and the most favoritest bike I have owned for many reasons.

I added a front fender extender to help prevent mud and water from splashing on the bike.

      Nice music that you added!

    4. Hi, I've had my Yellow V7 850 Stone for around 18 months now and generally share your thoughts on it (especially the front fender issue, I fitted a front fender extender to mine). I will stand up for the digital gauge though as although I initially didn't like the idea of it, I have grown to really like it and much prefer the clarity and information displayed over the old analogue gauges on my previous V7ii. I've fitted Dart piranha fly screen to my bike which does hide the gauge away a bit. I think if you're looking for a retro bike then the classic is certainly the way to go with its analogue gauges, spoked wheels and traditional headlight but for me I didn't really want a retro but I did want a simple, good looking and fun to ride bike which for me was the V7 850 Stone.

    5. As a biker who also used to ride horses for a living, many years ago, I entirely agree with you about the character and the sole of the V7. It's a real motorcycle that I never tire of looking at and gliding around country lanes on. I agree with you about the clocks but didn't want chrome and spokes. Spent enough time polishing brass and cleaning tack.😊

    6. This motorcycle review video has the most pleasant background music of all. Came here curious about the motorcycle, but am left ruminating on how pleasant is the video/music.

    7. This is a rather heavy bike for a retro! 447 lbs dry weight! I like the sidestand looks well made and sturdy the design of it gives you confidence your bike won’t fall over. I do not understand the unorthodox wheels! 18” in front 17l in rear

    8. I prefer the special for the spoked wheels and the real gauges. But I also have an R18 and a 1972 R75/5 with spoked wheels and real gauges. Digital gauges are fine for sport bikes, but keep real gauges on the classic looking bikes.

    9. Darcy; very well noticed! The BMW R18 and the Moto Guzzi v7 ARE very symmilar when you start the engine. Both pulls you back on a side because of their engine design. Thank you for this review! You did great. Cheers!

    10. Lovely bike. Wouldn’t have one though unless I could change the speedo and make it central, it drove me mad just watching the review , looks totally wrong

    11. I've been riding a small Beta rr sumo for a year now. I am getting my A licence this winter, Thinking seriously about this bike as main transport and vacay bike, but idk if this Beautiful bike is mule material?

    12. I do like the twin dials of the Special better but I prefer Alloy wheels for ease of maintenance & if you get a flat can fix it with a Rechargeable mini air compressor & tyre repair tool & be on your way in 5-10mins.So I could live with the single dial for alloy wheels but a model that has twin dials & alloys be the one.

    13. hot damn! I'm in the market for a new bike and no joke….never heard of Moto guzzi. a bike dealer down the road from me has a bunch of these in stock and my goodness am I tempted. I'm trading in a Yamaha 450fx and putting that money towards a new bike. this may be the one!! great video!

    14. I have seen the bike in my local shop and I agree that it is a very nice looking bike. I took one for a test ride too. It was a nice bike to ride. I was put off by the fenders. Why did they even bother having them? Instrumenation didn't bother me, I didn't even notice the single dial vs dual dials. It was an enjoyable bike to ride except I wouldn't want to ride the rain and have to spend time afterwards cleaning the bike up.

    15. I’ve got an Orange v7 2021 stone . I just love the character I’ve had all sorts of bikes including a Triumph Rocket 3 Bonneville 1200 . Vstrom Klr and Tiger 800xc. And this beats them all for character. I log it.

    16. The thing about all Guzzi models is once you start revving them out, you can certainly feel the racing heritage built into each one. Guzzis love to be revved and love to be driven spiritedly. Definitely don’t need to baby these bikes and they reward you for having some fun. Gorgeous bikes and gorgeous exhaust notes, especially with a set of Lafranconi or Mistral pipes. Guzzi’s here in the States have often been ridden by older people (respectfully) or connoisseur types, but I think the brand is getting more attention by younger riders and becoming more popular. I have a V7 Classic and one part of me loves having Guzzi to myself with never seeing another on the road. Another part of me loves they’re growing and being enjoyed by more people. Great review and fantastic footage!

    17. I have an Interceptor and I love it. If Moto Guzzi had a dealership near me though I wouldn’t have looked at the Interceptor and that’s the problem with Moto Guzzi

    18. Pity it has no centre stand.
Spoked wheels look good but they mean you have to run tubed tyres, same as my Speedmaster. I'd prefer tubeless.

    19. All these digital displays will be dead waaaaaaay before the bike wearing it quits. Same for the current crop of cars and trucks.
And with it A LOT of convenient functions built into it (A/C, radio, heated seats, et al) will stop too.
      That's a real shame !
I have seen bikes my age or older with twin analog gauges still going strong.
And as a selfish note: l wish Guzzi would build another big engine again.
Their last one at 1400cc was used on the last California model which has been discontinued for a while now.

    20. Gorgeous bike, but I agree: it would be much nicer with classic dials and headlight, and with proper mudguards. I am also not a huge fan of the cam covers. I wonder if a polish would improve that. They look almost plastic, and the shape is rather bland, nothing like the classic ones. Other than that, stunning bike.

    21. I wish they come back to Analog Design. Its simply destroying itd Character as a Classic Motorcycle.I wish to buy a Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber Special Edition.Cheers!

    22. Hello! I really like MG, especially v7, Italian classics. I have a question for you, is it possible to service it yourself if there is no dealer? Thanks!
