    1. Regarding the Tdf GC discussion.
Against everyone else than Jonas, i would choose A. Yates beside Pogi as the GC leader, because he can beat them all, is reliable and consistant, but if Jonas is at TDF in topshape, it changes, because Jumbo and Jonas are not afraid because of Adam Yates, they don't care about him.
But i can imagine, that they are a little bit more unsure about Ayuso. The unkown, the flaire, the huge upside… Regarding the situation, i think, you have to try it with the Ayuso – Pogi double and Yates for early pressure and yes, also Leadoutwork.

    2. I have a lot of respect for Pog (and his team) for having the courage to throw-down a big gauntlet that spans the entire season. No one would have blamed them if they had come out with a schedule that had the TdF and Olympics as the sole focus for Pog. On the TdF team strategy, I could see them doing something similar to Jumbo at the Vuelta (2023) by having so many quality riders to throw at the GC, essentially telling the other teams, 'we will keep throwing our guys at the GC in this race, if you plan to beat us, you have to beat every one of them.' If they do take that strategy and the goal of someone (anyone) from UAE winning to be their goal, then they could be extremely tough to beat.

    3. I know this idea will be shot down by many, but will we ever see it mandatory that the top ranked riders must race all three grand tours? Is there too much free choice involved with which races riders get to ride? If Sepp Kuss can ride all three grand tours and win the final one of the three, to me that says, yes the top riders can do it. I can't say with full confidence if it would be better for the sport, but it would make the GC battles for each grand tour more of an even playing field.

    4. Indurain did that!
He used the Giro as a warm up for the Tour.
But that was 30 years ago.
Today you don't see riders do well in both.
Sepp Kuss, I think, did ride all three grand tours. And won the Vuelta.
      What a sensation!

    5. They have tried for 2 years with Pogi as sole leader and now Pog does the Giro before that. Imo the new strategy to use should be a very strong climbing squad with riders that can have a reasonable chance of attacking and riding GC (like here).

If Visma again try their train tactic they can just wait untill eg. Van Baarle is halfway in his pull and then start raining attacks. If Visma just keeps riding in train, UAE just has to keep attacking and get 3 riders (like Almeida, Ayuso and Yates) ahead and have them ride train there. Such a "train war" should be won by UAE.

But even more, if those 3 riders are ahead, Pog can attack and Jonas would have to react, either dropping all his support and getting isolated while Pog has 3 more teammates with him or trust on Kelderman Kuss against all those UAE riders.

In the first scenario, there are 3-4 riders than can repeatedly attack Jonas, an even worse Galibier situation than Pog had in '22. If Jonas attacks to drop them, UAE should just let him and ride train behind him, essentially making it a 3-4 vs 1 "train battle" that realistically Jonas shouldn't win (unless it is too close to the finish).

    6. I was really hyped for an epic four-way showdown in the tdf between Vingegaard, Pogacar and to a lesser degree Roglic and Evenepoel. Now the Giro will be boring becuase Pog will dominate the second-tier gc guys there and I think he will not be at 100% at the Tour, so Vingegaard will likely dominate the tdf.

    7. Poll: Should riders generally race a race they won last year and defend their title?

Curious what you all think. It seems like it’s respectful to the race and almost a responsibility to come and defend your title. It seems like the proper way to pass the torch to the next winner or extend your reign.

Or should you try to get wins at different races?

    8. Lanterne doing his cycling manager analysis for 2024. Tadej is not a robot and pro-cycling is not a computer game Patrick. Kudos to you for being right that Tadej will do the Giro this year.
