Well it’s been almost a month since I was last out fishing. The honest reality is, I have been suffering with my mental health a little recently, so I lost the appetite to get out fishing. But I’m back, not quite with a bang, more of a slow fizzle, but I’m back.

This episode see’s me out once again on the river mersey. Its a little early for me to be targeting the Cod, but with few options with he weather and tides, it was the best of a bad bunch. With fishing on the Mersey slow, I headed over to Mostyn in North Wales for the low tide to try and right some wrongs there too.

It feels great to be back out by the water, with fish on the bank. If you take one thing from this video, please PLEASE, try your best to get outside. I know for some that’s harder than others. But it’s honestly the best thing I can do for my mental health. Alongside that, talk to someone, even if you’re not in a bad place, they might be. The biggest thing for me is trying to normalise mental health, particularly mens mental health, so I want to encourage you all to open up a little and talk to each other.

Look after each other, take care, and tight lines
    Alex!

    1. Hi Alex, if you do go back, that spot where the lads were on low. Or as you drive up onto the cob there is a line of rocks sticking out, in the pool on the left as you look out. Plenty of flatties and rays hang on in there. But, like you said, Mostyn is not for me😂. Might get the large ray you are chasing in that pool.

    2. I live in high peak area so those whiting would of made the 2 hour drive. I'm the same if I'm not 100% feeling it a can't get out but then kick myself I've missed the decent tides.

    3. Hi Alex, Sent you a bit of £ to support you, Money never solves MH issues, but i just thought it would get you a bit of Fuel or bait, so u can get out again soon. Love your videos as does my 5 year old 🙂 Take care dude.

    4. Great video as always pal 👍
I fished Brunswick on the Saturday. Had a couple of rays and lost the biggest bass I've ever seen in my life at the bottom of the wall 😭

    6. Another great video Alex, always look forward to getting a notification about a new post from you.

For me, my fishing keeps me sane, gives me a chance to switch off, recharge and to try and put life into perspective. It’s so important to acknowledge that life is not always easy and can be a struggle at times but that’s where the fishing helps along with great videos like yours! Take care!

Got the t- shirt with the head thing and was in a really dark place, I was told to read about a prisoner of war, Viktor Frankl and I started reading and practising Stoicism one man in particular was Marcus Aurelius. Still have my up and down day's but overall, I'm doing OK. Keep ya chin up Alex you'll come through it.

    10. Love your videos Alex. Being based in Hartlepool I fish mainly in the North East, but your vids have inspired me to look a bit further south (Holderness, the Humber) this winter and maybe next summer.

    13. Top guy Alex. I should do the same and get the rods out more often and meet some new people, not that I’m short on friends. It’s the job I do and the pressure that drags me down. Tight lines.
